Besides her husband and parents, Artie was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lisa Vance Junkin; brothers Powers, Jimmy, Thaddeus and Greenvell Donahoe, and sisters Estella Donahoe Abbott and Arlene Donahoe Dillon. Also surviving are sisters-in-law Betty Dillon of Huntington, and Beverly Donahoe of Olympia, Wash. In addition to being remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, all who knew Artie will remember her as a tireless worker. She went to work at Owens-Illinois Glass Factory during World War II as part of the women's war relief. She retired from Owens-Illinois in 1982, with 37 years of service, only weeks before they closed the Huntington plant. She felt the pressure of taking care of her family and worked multiple jobs to compensate for layoffs. She worked at Lewis' Pie Company in Huntington, and also the Wayne Dry Cleaners until it closed in the mid 1960s. After retiring, Artie maintained a full and active life volunteering at the VA Medical Center, taking friends to doctor's appointments, and adding plants to her hanging flower beds, until health problems slowed her down. Thanks to the care and support of her daughter and son-in-law, Stella and Marshall Bradley, with whom she made her home, Artie was able to spend her last years enjoying the beauty of Craig Road. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2011, at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home with Leston Followay and Roger Maynard officiating.
