LUCILLE WEBB CASSIDY, 85, of Genoa, W. Va., was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 1, 2012, at Cabell Huntington Hospital. She was born in Genoa on July 20, 1927, daughter of the late Vernie and Jennie Clark Webb. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Taylor Cassidy, Jr., brothers Clyde Webb and Garland Webb, and sisters Dorothy Wilson and Madalene Zihlman. Lucille is survived by brother Homer Webb and wife Libby of Wayne; sister-in-law Lou Webb of Wayne; four sons, Dallas Cassidy and wife Patty of Wayne, Roy Cassidy and his companion Shela Clark of Genoa, Larry Cassidy and wife Vicki of Lavalette, W. Va., and Bobby Cassidy and wife Kitty of Genoa; Reba Linkous of Genoa, who was like a daughter to Lucille; seven grandchildren, Scott Cassidy, Mark Cassidy and wife Amy, Kristi Cassidy Preston and husband Rob, Shelley Cassidy Mathis and husband Duane, Josh Cassidy and wife Megan, Brandi Cassidy Blake and husband Nate, and Megan Cassidy Holland and husband Randall; sixteen great-grandchildren, Zack, Jacob, Anna, Luke, Levi, Taylor, Dylan, Jonah, Kassidy, Ainsley, Ethan, Wesley, Ella, Liam, Hailey and Sophie; and a host of very special nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to express our gratitude to the employees of Hospice who helped provide care over the last several years, to her church family at the Genoa United Baptist Church, and to the many other community churches who continued to lift her name up to the Lord in prayer. Lucille was an amazing mother, grandmother and homemaker, a caring neighbor, and most importantly, a faithful Christian woman. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 5, 2012, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, by Elder Danny Endicott. Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery at Wayne. ELIZABETH ANN (SANFORD) SELLARDS, 64, passed away August 1, 2012 at Rock Mills, Ala. Liz was born March 17, 1948 in Cabell County to Nathan and Jane (Lawhorn) Sanford. Liz was granddaughter of Merton and Lizzie (Wilks) Sanford and Elba and Cordia (Howerton) Lawhorn. Liz had one stepson, Donnie Sellards. Survivors include Donald Sanford of Lavalette, Rosa Rowe of Wayne, Charles Sanford of Lavalette, William Sanford of Lanett, AL, Henry Sanford of Rock Mills, Al. Liz graduated from Wayne High School Class of 1967. Liz was cremated at her request.

CAROL BOOTH QUEEN, of Wilmington, N.C., formerly of Huntington, W.Va., died on August 2, 2012. She was born on October 20, 1924, in Wayne, W.Va., the daughter of the late Fletcher Booth and Emily Hutchinson Booth. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Wilmington and a former member of Fifth Avenue Baptist Church in Huntington and the Wayne Baptist Church in Wayne. She and her late husband, Glenn, were members of the John Marshall Society of Marshall University. She worked many years in the Wayne County, W.Va., County Clerk's office, and she also worked in the family business, Tradewell Supermarkets. Carol loved her family deeply and was always the most encouraging person to each and all of us. She enjoyed quilting, a craft she learned from her mother, and she made a unique quilt for each child, grandchild and great-grandchild, a gift each of them will treasure forever. The friends she made at Brightmore loved Carol and she loved them and enjoyed all the card games and board games they played. Those same friends were drawn to the beauty of the jewelry Carol made; each piece unique and distinctive. Carol was preceded in death by her husband Glenn Queen; her daughter Gail Queen Stephenson; and three brothers, Lawrence Booth and Donald Booth of Wayne, W.Va., and Willis 'Joe' Booth of Dunbar, W.Va. Survivors include her son Mike Queen (Bobbie) of Wilmington; four grandchildren, Carolee Lambert, Brett Queen (Amy) and Shannon Pipkin (Chris), all of Wilmington, N.C., and Amy Knight (Jason) of Greensboro, N.C.; eight great-grandchildren, Garrett Lee, Alex Lambert, Jordan and C. J. Pipkin and Kamryn Queen, all of Wilmington, and Joshua, Jacob and Emma Grace Knight, all of Greensboro, N.C.; sisters-in-law Pauline Booth and Lillian Queen and brother-in-law Bernard Queen, and many wonderful nieces and nephews. The family expresses our deepest appreciation to all the staff at Brightmore, The Commons and the Lower Cape Fear Hospice for the love, care and attention they showered on Carol. All of them were simply the best. After a private family burial service, a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 4, 2012, at First Baptist Church, 411 Market Street, Wilmington, NC led by Rev. Jayne Davis and Dr. Frank Hawkins. The family will greet friends immediately after the service at the church. WILBUR RANDALE MAYNARD, 73, of South Point, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, August 4, 2012. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 8, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Beard Mortuary with Rev. C. J. Adkins and Rev. Terry Noble officiating. Burial will follow in Community Memorial Gardens, Wayne, W.Va. He was born January 9, 1939, in Wayne, the son of the late Tim and Marjory Taylor Maynard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister Emma Thompson Upchurch, brother Daniel Tim Maynard, and nephew Brennan Maynard. Randale was a graduate of Vinson High School and enjoyed traveling the world with his family. He was a member of Cornerstone Bible Church, South Point, Ohio. He was retired from Ashland Air Products and Chemicals. He is survived by his wife Vivian Lester Maynard; two daughters and sons-in-law, Shannon Maynard and Omar Velarde-Wong of Washington, D.C., and Cheryl Maynard Webb and Philip Webb of South Point, Ohio; a son and daughter-in-law Randy and Vickii Maynard of Richmond, Va.; and nine grandchildren, Matilda Velarde Maynard; Taylor, Olivia, Spencer and Chloe Maynard; and Theron Drayton, Robert Maynard and Brad and Jacob Webb. He is also survived by three sisters, Opal Blake of South Point; Annie McClure of Jefferson, Ga., and Connie Jones and her husband Ronald of Huntington; a brother Alvis Maynard and his wife Clydene of Tucson, Ariz. a sister-in-law Kathleen Maynard of Huntington, and a host of nieces and nephews. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Beard Mortuary.

EDNA WALLACE DAVIS, 95, of Davin, W.Va., went to sleep in the Lord Saturday, August 4, 2012, at Trinity Healthcare at Logan. She was born November 15, 1916, at Genoa in Wayne County, a daughter of the late Shelton and Lona Workman Wallace. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Anderson Davis; one sister Opal Graham; and four brothers, Curtis Wallace, Clarence Wallace, Cecil Wallace and Bernard Wallace. Edna was a retired school cook formerly employed by Logan County Schools at Braeholm and Buffalo Grade School for 20 years. Until she moved to Huntington to care for her elderly parents in 1975, Edna was a member of the Kistler Freewill Baptist Church. After the passing of her parents, she became the matriarch of the family. Edna loved to garden vegetables and can in the summertime. A pioneer woman who overcame many obstacles in her life, widowed at the age of 51 and a survivor of the Buffalo Creek disaster in 1972, Edna still maintained her joy and faith. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. Those left to cherish her memory are two sons, Oscar (Patty) Davis of Edmond, Okla., and Orval Lee (Jennifer) Davis of Davin; four grandchildren, Shelly (Jeff) Reading of Edmond, OK, Tim Davis of Lafayette, LA, Steven (Lynn) Davis of Robinette, and Nicole (Kevin) Gwinn of Shady Spring, W.Va.; and six great-grandchildren, Whitney (David) Dickinson of Tulsa, Okla., Brett (Tyler) Jennings of Houston, Texas, Andrew Davis of Edmond, Okla., Caleb Davis of Robinette, W.Va., and Abigail and Meredith Gwinn of Shady Spring; one brother James (Ellen) Wallace of Alexandria, Va.; sister-in-law Patty Wallace of Barboursville, W.Va.; and many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 8, 2012, at the Claypool United Methodist Church at Davin with Rev. Bryan C. Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill, W.Va. Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the church and one hour prior to services at the church also. Pallbearers will be friends and family. Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man is in charge of the arrangements.

KATRINA JUNE HURLEY, 26, of Man, W.Va., daughter of Angela Dawn Baird of Greenview, W.Va., and Dewayne Hurley of Mill Creek, W.Va., died Aug. 5, 2012, in Trinity Nursing Home, Williamson, W.Va. Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Chapmanville, W.Va.; burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Pecks Mill, W.Va. Visitation one hour before services.

BOBBY ELDRIDGE NELSON
, 73 of Huntington, WV passed away Sunday, August 5, 2012 at the VAMC Huntington. “If you didn’t look over him, you knew a great man.” Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 9, 2012 at the Buffalo Valley Missionary Baptist Church, by Pastor Tim Jayne and Pastor Scott Byard; burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery, Kenova. Bobby was born July 22, 1939 in Wayne County, WV a son of the late Noah and Maltie Pack Nelson. He was also preceded in death by one brother Donald Millard Nelson. He attended Buffalo Valley Baptist Church, was a retired employee of Buffalo Middle School and a veteran of the US Army. Those that survive him include his wife Pattie McKinney Nelson, two sisters, Aileen Bailey of Florida, Hester Ellen Bailey of Kenova, WV, two brothers, Estel Lloyd Nelson of Huntington, and Alpha David Nelson of Prichard. In addition, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends on McComas Creek, the East Fork of 12 Pole that survive him as well. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Buffalo Valley Missionary Baptist Church, Buffalo Creek Road. Reger Funeral Home is assisting the family. MELVINIA WEBB, 87, of Huntington, widow of Ralph Webb, passed away Sunday, August 5, 2012 in Huntington. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Reger Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington. She was born March 10, 1925 in Wayne County, WV a daughter of the late Andy William and Kate Stapleton Robinson. She was a retired employee for over 25 years with Top Quality Meats. Melvinia attended Lewis Memorial Baptist Church. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Steve Robinson and Harvey Stapleton and three sisters, Georgia Plybon, Nancy Lynch and Fannie Jordan. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda Kaye and Dale Morris and Vickie Lynn and Herbert Talbert, all of Huntington; three grandchildren, Amy Elizabeth Morris, Justin Trent Talbert and Emily Nicole Talbert; brother Junior Robinson; two sisters, Martha Pully and Arminta Mills and several nieces and nephews. LOIS EILEEN LEWIS, 89, of Huntington, WV, passed away Sunday, August 5, 2012, at Heartland of Riverview, South Point, Ohio. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Minister Ronnie Ross. Burial will be in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington. She was born August 16, 1922, in Ranger, WV, a daughter of the late William Roosevelt Smith and Edith Webb Smith Moore. She was a retired employee of Anderson Newcombe / Stone and Thomas. Lois was a member of the Norway Avenue Church of Christ and a volunteer at the Cabell Huntington Hospital Gift Shop. Along with her church group she volunteered at the Huntington City Mission and food pantry. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband James A. "Joe" Lewis; daughter Linda Gayle Griffith and two brothers Donald and Corbett Smith. Survivors include two sons, Carlos Ray Lewis of Panama City Beach, FL and Larry J. Lewis of Kenova, WV; a son-in-law William M. Griffith of Rocky Mount, NC; eight grandchildren, James M. Lewis, Erin Lewis Darling, J.C. Griffith, Lisa Eveson, Lori Lewis, Angie Lewis, J.T. Lewis and Kelly Lewis; six great-grandchildren; two great- great-grandchildren; five brothers, Wandell, Stanley, Clifford, William and Ivan Smith; three sisters, Doris Webb, Patty Macri and Connie Witherington and numerous nieces and nephews. GARRY EUGENE HEMPHILL, 42, of Wayne, WV passed away on Monday, August 6, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, August 17, 2012 at the Morris Funeral Home Chapel, 79 Bridge Street, Wayne, WV. The family is welcoming friends and/or family to speak during the funeral. Burial will follow at the Cox Cemetery, Genoa. He was born on October 26, 1969 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Robert Eugene Hemphill & Mary Elizabeth Anderson. Garry is survived by four daughters: Samantha, Brittany & Tabitha Hemphill of Chicago, Illinois and Angelina Shanowat of Pikeville, Kentucky; two sons Andrew Maxwell of Wayne, WV and Garry Kordik of Angola, Indiana; two sisters Joyce Overmyer of Antioch, Illinois and Sherri Carroll of Wayne, WV and one brother Troy Hemphill. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Juel, Lanya, Luke Jr. & Zayla all of Chicago, Illinois and many nieces, nephews and friends. The viewing will be held on Friday, August 17, 2012 from 1 until 2 p.m.

MABEL E. SMITH, 80, of Kenova, W.Va., has gone home with Jesus on Tuesday, August 7, 2012. Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Friday, August 10, 2012, at 2:30 p.m. at Docks Creek Cemetery. Mabel was a retired CNA from Foster Memorial Home. Mabel was born on December 12, 1931, in Kenova, WV, the daughter of the late Hatfield and Gertrude Stiltner Vaughan. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Robert Smith Sr., one son Gregory Smith and grandson Greg Smith, one brother and sister Orville Vaughan and Thelma Carver. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law Robert and Rose Mary Smith of Kenova; one daughter Brenda Cervinski of Oregon; two grandchildren and their spouses, Jessica and Dale Harless and Timothy and Theresa Smith; five grandchildren and a special niece Christine Jordan. ANNA JEAN LOVE, 88, of Tornado, WV, died Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at her residence. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, August 11, 2012 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Harold Burton Hall. Burial will follow at Robertson Cemetery, Genoa, WV. She was born December 2, 1923 in Genoa, WV, a daughter of the late Eugene Robertson and Missouri Watts Robertson. Her husband, Henry H. Love also preceded her in death, along with a son, James Love; siblings, Angie Wilson Parsons, Dee Wilson, Willie Wilson, Jimmison Robertson, Finley Robertson, Thomas Robertson and Margaret Robertson (Twins), Dave Robertson and Johnson Robertson. Survivors include three daughters, Wilma Rutledge of Tornado, WV, Carolyn Ratliff and husband, Gary, Doris Rattliff and husband, Greg, all of Congress Village, OH; six sons, Hank Love and wife, Pat of Tornado, WV, Roy Love and wife, Pat of Spencer, WV, Patrick Love of Athens, Tennessee, Bob Love of Genoa, WV, Charles Love of Congress Village, OH, Harold Love and wife, Becky of Sugar Creek, OH; twenty-eight grandchildren and thirty-eight great grandchildren. JOAN FRALEY HENSLEY, 69, of Huntington, W.Va., died Wednesday, August 8, 2012, in Cabell Huntington Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 11, 2012, at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Elder Roger Maynard; burial will follow in Spring Valley Memory Gardens, Huntington. Joan was born August 6, 1943, in Wayne County, West Virginia a daughter of the late Charles T. and Hannah Frasher Fraley. She was a member of Salem United Baptist Church of Wayne. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter Rebecca Ann Hensley; seven brothers, Otis T. Fraley, Howard Ellwood Fraley, Frank Fraley, Therrill Fraley, Garland Fraley, Bernard Fraley, Glen Fraley and one sister Iva Fay Maynard. Those that survive her include one daughter Janet Lee (Scott) Ward, one son Carl Thomas (Tara) Hensley, five grandchildren, Michael, Jesse, Joshua Ward, Rebekah and Nathaniel Hensley and one great-grandchild Lucas Michael Ward. In addition, two brothers, Willie S. (Carrie) Fraley, Charles T. Fraley, Jr. (Mary) and four sisters, Avonelle Hitch, Carol (George) Nelson, Naomi Cyfers and Mary Lee (Jack) Shy, survive. JOE TAYLOR, JR.
, 86, of Ranger passed away on August 8, 2012, at his residence following a long illness. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 11, 2012, at the Morris Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Davis officiating. Burial will follow at the Taylor Cemetery, Cove Creek with military graveside rites by American Legion Post 93, Kenova. He was born on March 13, 1926, to the late Joseph Taylor, Sr., and Carrie Caldwell Taylor. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife Beatrice Frazier Taylor, son Joe Taylor, Jr., daughters Wanda and Connie Taylor; son and grandson Joey and Joe Taylor, brothers Glen, James and Elba Taylor; sister-in-law Maxine Taylor; sisters Gladys Frazier, Opal Maynard and Melba Worrall and brothers-in-law Archie Frazier, Frank Maynard and Roy Worrall. Surviving are his sons Emmett (Debbie) Taylor of Tennessee and Heston (Joyce) Taylor of Ranger, daughters Gladys (Lester) Queen of Ohio, Donna (Ivan) Marcum of Kentucky, brothers Frank (Dona) Taylor, Sam (Myrtle) Taylor, Mark (Chris) Taylor and sisters Mayme (Ransom) Wiley and Anna Lou (Bobby) Bell. He was also blessed with 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren and two very special nieces Cheryl and Carol Smith. PAUL DAVID PENNINGTON, "P.D.", 64, passed away Thursday, August 9, 2012, in Manatee Memorial Hospital, Bradenton, Fla., where his home had been for the past 18 years. Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Friday, August 17, 2012, at Chapman's Mortuary with Brother Shirley Ball officiating. Burial with military graveside rites performed by WV Veterans Honor Guard Post 16 will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Paul David was born September 30, 1947, the beloved son of the late Rhoda Marcum Pennington and Dennis Pennington of Wayne County, W.Va. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ethel Mae Teeters and Dolly Weaver; a brother Gerald Dalton, and best friend whom he treated like a brother, Robert Riggs. Paul David is survived by his four loving children Jenny Pennington of Barboursville, Jesse Pennington of Huntington, Katy Pittman of Bradenton, Fla., and Paul David Pennington, II of Missouri; two grandchildren, Ben and Katy; six sisters, whom loved him dearly, and four brothers-in-law, Della and Craig Bailey of Bradenton, Fla., Angie and Jr. Casey of Lavalette, W.Va., Cheryle and Tom Taylor of Pedro, Ohio, Laura and Ron Prater of Reidsville, N.C., Marie Pearsall of Panama City, Fla., and Lynn Teeters of Grove City, Ohio; his special friend, "his dog, Gypsy"; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who loved "Uncle Paul". Paul David was a disabled U.S. Army veteran. He served a four-year term in Vietnam. Being a veteran and serving his country was one of Paul's proudest accomplishments. He loved his family and mother, and no stranger ever came to his door. He loved deeply and gave freely. He loved West Virginia and was proud to be a "Hillbilly". EULA G. CLAIR, 74, of Wayne, formerly of Ranger, W.Va., died Aug. 9, 2012, in Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Sunday, Montana Freewill Baptist Church, Ranger; burial will follow in Dean Cemetery, Ranger. Visitation after 6 p.m. Saturday at the church. Arrangements by McGhee-Handley Funeral Home, West Hamlin, W.Va.

KEVIN MARK LEEP, 57, of Huntington, W.Va., passed away August 9, 2012. He was born May 17, 1955, in Huntington, W.Va., a son of the late Charles Eugene Dick and Pattie Leep Dick Scarberry. He is survived by two sisters, Gale McComas of Barboursville and Kristy Lewingdon of Lavalette and one brother David Dick. Graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, August 26, 2012, at Bowen Cemetery. There will be no visitation.

HOWARD MILLARD MAYNARD, 66, of Fort Gay, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Aug. 10, 2012, at the Emogene Dolin Hospice House, Huntington. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012, at the Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, with Elders Dolphus Perry, Charles O. Adkins and Junior Lambert officiating. Burial will follow at the Maynard-Lewis Cemetery, Fort Gay. He was born on Feb. 10, 1946, to the late Jim and Garnet Maynard. Howard was a devout Christian and was an Elder at Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Surviving is his loving wife of 40 years, Rita Auxier Maynard; two daughters, Tammy (Bobby) Williamson of Wayne, W.Va., and Kimberly (Brent) Meade of Lavalette, W.Va.; one sister, Judy Lewis of Fort Gay, W.Va.; two brothers, Garland (Dorcas) Maynard of Wayne, W.Va., and Carlos Maynard of Fort Gay, W.Va.; and four grandchildren, Brianna Robertson, Timothy Robertson, Kaylee Meade and Courtney Williamson; and one grandchild, Taylin on the way. The family would like to send a special thank you to the Hospice nurses Dennis, Andi and Mickey. ROBERT D. THOMPSON, 54, of Louisa, KY passed away Friday August 10, 2012. Robert was born Feb. 16, 1958 at Bluffton, Indiana the son of Darlene Hicks Thompson and the late Robert Gene Thompson. He was a plant operator for the City of Louisa, of the Baptist Faith, and member of the Apperson 195 Masonic Lodge. FRANKIE SALMONS, JR., 77 of Fort Gay passed away Saturday, August 11, 2012 at his home. He was born April 3, 1935 at Webb, WV. a son of the late Frank and Jessie Copley Salmons. RITA M. KING WARD, 90, of Midland Meadows Senior Living, Ona, W.Va., formerly of Lavalette, W.Va., passed away Sunday, August 12, 2012. Burial will immediately follow at Spring Valley Memory Gardens. Rita was born on December 30, 1921, in Huntington, W.Va., a daughter of the late Arthur and Rose Marie King. Rita was preceded in death by her husband Jack Q. Ward, son Stephen R. Ward, brother Robert King, and a sister Betty Jo King. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in Huntington. After her marriage to Jack, Rita was a life-long resident of Lavalette. She was known throughout the Lavalette community for her delicious pies and passed that skill and recipes on to her granddaughters. Rita is survived by one daughter Jacquelyn M. Ward of Morehead City, N.C.; one son Daniel J. (Delores) Ward of Barboursville, W.Va.; five grandchildren, Jeff Ward of Pittsburgh, Pa., Stephanie Kendall of Washington, D.C., Rebekah Ward of Chicago, Ill., Matthew (Carol) Ward of Proctorville, Ohio and Laura Ward of Culloden, W.Va.; two special sisters-in-law and their husbands, Betty (Charlie) Ellis, Gail (Bostic) Brumfield; three great-grandchildren; several loving nieces and nephews; and a special former daughter-in-law, Beverly Ward Gibson. JUANITA EPLING, 92, of Kenova, W.Va., died peacefully at her home Friday, Aug. 17, 2012. After years of wanting to go home, she has taken that last trip and is now running, playing and singing with those she loved so much. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Epling; three daughters, Helen "Joy" Thompson, Eloise Pruitt and Sandra Frasher. She is survived by two sons, Raymond and Sharon Epling, and Nathan "Eugene" and Amy Epling; four daughters, Doris Epling, Mary Weaver, Violet Sparks and Viola Epling; one special daughter, Margaret Meeks; and one special son, Allen Adkins. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. The family wishes to thank some special people that has been a tremendous help: her caregiver, Rhonda Ratcliff, and two Cabell Huntington Hospital home health nurses, Mary Jane and Barb. GERALD DAVID DAMRON, 63, of Chesapeake, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 19, 2012 at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, WV. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne with Rev. Paul Farley officiating. Burial will follow at the Arrowood Dutton Cemetery, Wayne. He was born on February 28, 1949, a son of Glenna Thompson Damron of Inverness, Florida and the late Burr Damron. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War 1969-1971 where he spent time stationed in Germany. Gerald was awarded a National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal and a Sharpshooter Marksmanship Badge GI with M-16 Qualification. He was the owner of Gerald Damron Logging and had been in the logging business over 40 years. His success in business was attributed to his honesty, strong work ethic and good rapport with others. Mr. Damron enjoyed reading, fishing, spending time with friends and especially enjoying his grandchildren. One of his favorite things was handing out candy for them to enjoy. He will be remembered for his generosity and devotion to those he knew and loved. He recently accepted the Lord as his Savior and was thankful for the peace of God in his life. He was a veteran of the United States Navy as an E-3 and the 254th Transportation Company Army National Guard as a Staff Sergeant. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Louise Fry Slaighter. He is survived by his wife of 51 years Mary Carolyn Hatten Fry; three sons, Mark A. Fry (Connie) of Lexington, Ky., Bryan E Fry (Lisa) of Huntington, W.Va., and John H. Fry of Grayson, Ky.; two daughters, Debbie Fry Howes (Tim) of Louisville, Ky., and Beverly Fry Hickman of Muncie, Ind. NOAH STEPHENS, 88, of Lavalette, W.Va. passed away August 20, 2012 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, W.Va. Noah, born February 29, 1924 in Wayne, W.Va. to William Tolbert and Effie (Aliff) Stephens, was married to Lorene Russell on June 21, 1947. Noah served in the U.S. Army 94th Infantry Division during World War II. During the Battle of the Bulge, Noah and his platoon were surrounded behind enemy lines for 11 days. For gallantry in action during that time, Noah was awarded the Silver Star and Combat Infantry Badge. Other awards include the Expert Rifleman, the Purple Heart, the Good Conduct Medal, and three campaign stars for service in Northern France, the Ardennes, and the Rhineland. Noah worked in the coal mines of West Virginia and as a tool and die repairman and machinist. Later in life, Noah became an entrepreneur, owning trucking and building companies and contributing to other companies. He continued to operate N&S Construction with his son, Gary, until his death. In 2008 Noah was honored by the West Virginia Legislature. A bridge in Dickson, W.Va., near his home, was named the Noah Stephens Bridge in honor of his service during World War II. In 2010, he received the title of Chevalier de la Legion d’Honneur at the French Embassy in Washington, DC. This is the highest award that the Republic of France can bestow upon a civilian. Noah was preceded in death by his wife, Lorene Russell Stephens, and his son, Noah Delmas Stephens, and his nine siblings. Noah is survived by his two sons and their wives, Lemuel and Carolyn Stephens, and Gary and Brenda Stephens; his daughter and her husband, Shelia and Ford Newman; five grandchildren, Steve, John, and Rebecca Stephens and Spencer and Chelsea Newman; and three great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, August 23, 2012 at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home with Pastor Otis Bowens officiating. Burial will follow in the Stephens Cemetery. BEULAH P. HOOSER, 94, of Wooster, died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, surrounded by her loving family at Burbank Parke following a brief illness. Beulah was born Nov. 25, 1917, in Ft. Gay, W.Va., the daughter of the late Robert and Minnie (Winchell) Dawson. She married Arnold Hooser on March 26, 1937, and he preceded her in death on June 19, 1995. She had worked as a licensed practical nurse at Wooster Community Hospital for 18 years and had made her home in Canaan for many years. She was a member of the First Church of God in Creston and had enjoyed collecting cook books and recipes, cooking and quilting. She enjoyed spending her time with her children and grandchildren and will be greatly missed. Surviving are her children and their spouses, Patricia and George Leohr of Seville, James and Karen Hooser of Bonita Springs, Fla., Roger and Merlene Hooser of Wooster and Sharon and Roger Gray of Centre, Al.; 16 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Betty Troutman of Shreve, Bernice Aikman of Seville and Beatrice Dawson of Fla. She was preceded in death by her daughter and son-in-law, Rowena and Ralph Followay; a granddaughter, Diane; brothers George, Taylor, Ralph, Henry and John; and sisters, Belle Massie, Roberta Kaylor and Blanche Haskins. She was born Feb. 5, 1923, a daughter of the late Jacob and Anna Kisor Schaffer in Huntington, W.Va. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Leo "Bokey" Bentley; brothers, Melvin and John Schaffer; and sisters, Margaret Smith and Roseanne Bernhardt. Survivors include her husband and caregiver, Bactyl "June" Haner; her sons, Ronald Bentley (Betty Jo) of Taylor, Mich., John Bentley (Terry) of Huntington, W.Va.; daughter, Margy Hodges (Curty) of Huntington; one special "adopted" son, William "Charlie" Effingham, whom she loved as one of her own; and one sister, Mabel Ratliff of Middletown, Ohio. She was a loving and very caring person and touched the lives of so many people. She was known by many special names, such as "Babe," "A," "Angel" and "Munher," all given to her by her grandchildren, Eve Handley, Adam Jordan and his wife Kelly, Chris Bentley and his wife Tosha, Joanna Bentley Schrecengost and her husband David, Jon Ryan Bentley and his wife Meredith. LENZY "LV" CISCO, 80, of Kenova, W.Va., passed away Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012. Mr. Cisco was born July 5, 1932, to the late Lenzy and Eliza (Nickels) Cisco. He is also survived by his brothers, Wayne Browning of Dingess, W.Va., Jess Browning of Dingess, W.Va., and Charley Browning of Ohio; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his very best friend, Garland Maynard. PATRICIA M. CUMM, 63, of Kenova, went home to be with her Lord on August 31, 2012 surrounded by her family and friends at her residence. She was born May 21, 1949 in Greenfield Center, NY to the late Harold Woodcock and Hazel (Steele) Woodcock who survives. She was a member of the New Testament Free Will Baptist Church. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband Edward Cumm, her brother Bobby Woodcock and grandson Jessey Swimm. In addition to her mother she is survived by her son Keith Cumm of Huntington, daughters Kimberly Cumm of Kenova and Tina Swimm of East Lynn; three grandchildren Jamie, Carla and Issac Swimm, two great grandchildren Emmit Swimm and D’Wayne Mounts, two sisters Roseann Thew and Lena Bowen, both of New York; and two brothers Charlie Woodcock and Johnny (Karol) Woodcock of New York. In passing she will be missed by many additional family members and a host of friends. Special thanks to Vivian Fraley and June Stambaugh for providing love and care to her for many years. Special thanks to her church family for all the love and support given during her battle with cancer. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the New Testament Free Will Baptist Church. Funeral Services for Mrs. Cumm will be Friday, September 7, 2012 at noon at the Ceredo-Kenova Funeral Home with her Pastor and friend Eddie Hay officiating.
