JUDY CAROL CHANEY, 66, of Louisa, Ky. passed away Monday, July 1, 2013 at Three Rivers Medical Center in Louisa, Ky. She was born April 25, 1947 in Holden, W.Va. a daughter of the late Russell and Anna Maggard Pack. She was a homemaker and a member of First Christian Church of Louisa, Ky. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Chaney; and grandson, Alexander Lee Chaney. Survivors include, three daughters, Melissa Chaney "James" Hall of Frankfort, Ky.; Paula Chaney of Louisa, Ky.; Marie "William" Smith of Louisa, Ky.; one son, Thomas Chaney Jr. of Louisa, Ky.; three sisters, Joyce Young of Webbville, Ky.; Jessie Ogier of Jackson, Ohio; Zola Young of Fort Gay, W.Va.; one brother, James Pack of Fort Gay, W.Va.; 8 grandchildren, Natalie Chaney, Thomas Chaney III, Kelsey Chaney, Davis Smith, Matthew Smith, Charles Hall, Christia Hall, and Christopher Hall. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM Friday, July 5, 2013 at Young Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Louisa, Ky. Visitation will be 5:00 til 9:00 PM Thursday at Young Funeral Home.

BETH MARIE (KEARNS) WILSON, 34, of Ceredo, WV passed away on July 1, 2013. She was born on July 17, 1978, a daughter of Jack Edward and Sherry Ann Kearns. She is preceded in death by her father and one brother, Joshua. She leaves behind to mourn her loss, her mother and her three children: Josie, Jessica and Ronnie. Also surviving are her siblings: Jackie, Scott, April, Brad, Kim, Jimmy and Priscilla and many aunts, uncles, cousins and other family and friends. She was a proud member of the Ceredo Christian Baptist Church. A memorial service for Beth will be held at the Ceredo-Kenova Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at 11 A.M. On July 2, 2013, EDGLE CLETIS WEBB slipped peacefully from this world into his eternal home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 15, 1929 to the late Pierce and Cora Webb in Wayne County, W.V. He was retired from Norfolk & Western Railroad. Edgle was a man of steadfast faith, who stood firmly for our Almighty God, served proudly in the U.S. Army, and served lovingly as the patriarch of his family. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, farming and wood-working. His love for gospel and bluegrass music was evident in his guitar, banjo, and mandolin playing. Along with his parents, Edgle was preceded in death by siblings, Arvil Webb, Truman Webb, Mavis Borders, Edna Grant, Okey Grant, Augusta Smith. He was also preceded in death by his step-son Steve Thompson. Edgle is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Christine Dow Webb. He was a loving father to his children, Fontella (Charlie) Brewer, Mitchell Webb, Patricia (Butch) O’Brian, Diana (Mickey) Thompson. and step-son Richard (Beth) Thompson. He was pawpaw to his grandchildren, Travis, Taylor, Annie, Katie, Stuart, Wesley, Rachel, Wade, Dalton, and Steve, and great-grandchildren, Karson, Bryson, Addison, Gracin, Max and Mitchell. The family would like to thank friends Joann Rowe and Connie Butcher for their assistance over the last several years, and the staff of JJ Jordan Geriatric Center for their care and compassion during his final weeks. 2 Corinthians 5:8 "We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord." Funeral services were conducted 10:30 AM Friday, July 5, 2013 at Young Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tom Kitts and Pastor Richard Maynard officiating. Burial will follow at the Lynch Cemetery.

HELEN CUNNINGHAM LaFONTAINE GRUBER, 93, of Ceredo, W.Va., died Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, W.Va. She was born November 28, 1919, in Ironton, Ohio, a daughter of the late Frank M. and Fannie Imilda Lovejoy Cunningham. Helen had worked at the Ceredo Potpourri for many years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, William LaFontaine and Rudolph Gruber; one son, Mark S. LaFontaine; and a grandson, Bobby Gleason. She was a member of the Kenova United Methodist Church. Helen is survived by one son, James LaFontaine of Ceredo; two daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Gene Noble of Kenova and Melanie and Robert Gleason of Huntington; three grandsons, Brian Noble, Mack Gleason and John Gleason; three granddaughters, Heather Diehl, Nikki Gillispie and Maggie Gleason; three great-grandchildren, Madison Noble, Blaze Diehl and Leah Noble; and one sister, Marjory Nickels of Ceredo. The family requests no flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, 3100 Staunton Road, Huntington, WV 25702. RUTH MOURNING LAPOLE, 91, of Kenova, W.Va., passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2013, in Cabell Huntington Hospital. She was born November 26, 1921, in Catlettsburg, Ky., a daughter of the late William and Cynthia Booth Combs. Ruth was a member for more than 50 years of the First Independent Missionary Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Ladies Missionary Circle and the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW. Besides her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her first husband, Earl Andrew Mourning, and her second husband, Lindsey Lapole; two sons, Michael Rex Mourning and Earl Andrew Mourning Jr.; and two granddaughters, Sherry and Christine. Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Carolyn and Jim Powell of Ponca City, Oklahoma, and Linda Perry of Kenova; nine grandchildren, Chauncey, Brian, Jimmy, Jamie, Lori, Suzanne, Mike Jr., Kathy and Michelle; 19 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Barbara Lloyd. The family wishes to thank all the wonderful people at Gentiva Home Health for taking such precious care of Ruth. RUBY DIERDORFF, 87 of South Point, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2013, in the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, W.Va. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 6, 2013, at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Pastor Matt Dierdorff and Pastor Jonathan Dierdorff. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, W.Va. Ruby was born September 21, 1925, in Webb, W.Va., a daughter of the late Christopher and America Perry Chaffin; she was a member of Poplar Street Church of God and had worked as a nurse at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard Raymond Dierdorff. Survivors include two sons, Joe Allen Dierdorff of Ironton, Ohio, and Donald Ray and his wife Gladys Sue Dierdorff of Barboursville, W.Va.; stepdaughter, Diane Braydon of Griffin, Ga. Her grandchildren include Matt and Jonathan Dierdorff, Andrea Fortner, Dr. Daniel Joe Dierdorff I, Joshua David Dierdorff, Zachary Dierdorff, Doug McKenzie, Stuart McKenzie, Daniel McKenzie and Sherry Jones. Great-grandchildren are as follows, Gavin Dierdorff, Liam Dierdorff, Carter Dierdorff, Brock Fortner, Braxton Fortner, and Daniel Joe Dierdorff II. Ruby is also survived by two brothers, William "Bill" Chaffin and Robert Chaffin, and a life-long friend for more than fifty years, Wanda Dean. RONALD MICHAEL BROOKS, 54, of Ceredo, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2013. He was born February 19, 1959, in South Williamson, KY, a son of Barbara Cooper Brooks of Salt Rock and Earnest Brooks of Williamson. He is also survived by his daughter, Amanda Brooks of Williamson, WV; sister, Lois Brooks of Williamson; his companion and best friend, Tammy Salmons, and her mother, Charlotte Warren; and several aunts, uncles and a host of friends. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville. Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, July 8, 2013, at Baylous Cemetery.

CLARA SMITH SIAS, 57, of Branchland, W.Va., passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at her residence. She was born September 26, 1955, in Huntington, W.Va., a daughter of Edward L. Smith of Kenova, W.Va., and the late Opal Chaffin Smith. Clara was a member of the Poplar Street Church of God. Besides her father, Clara is survived by her husband, David Allen Sias of Branchland; one son, Gilbert Edward Cremeans of Kenova; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Phillip Wiseman of Kenova, Leah and Bernie Browning of Proctorville, Ohio, and Christy and Mike Pancake of Kenova; one brother and sister-in-law, Eddie and Arlene Smith of Kenova; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Sunday, July 7, 2013, at Rollins Funeral Home, Kenova, with Bishop Toney Cox, officiating. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service. RACINE PRATT EMERY, 92, of Kenova, W.Va., passed away on July 3, 2013. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 6, at the Ceredo-Kenova Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Matt officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery, Kenova, W.Va. Racine was born on April 2, 1921, a daughter of the late Fred Pratt Sr. and Grace Hampton Pratt. She attended Grace Gospel Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Emery; her sister, Bertha; and brothers, Willis and Fred Pratt Jr.; and one grandson, David Pratt. She is survived by her children, Jim (Leta) Pratt of Kenova, W.Va., and Donna (Jon, deceased) Bratka of Columbus, Ohio; and her siblings, Ralph Pratt of Huntington, W.Va., Donald (Judy) Pratt of Mansfield, Ohio, Dorothy Ross of Radnor, W.Va., Betty Jo Hollis of Huntington, W.Va., Lois Cremeans of St. Albans, W.Va., and Patty (Wayne) King of Louisa, Ky.; her grandchildren, Lori (Jim) Finley of Mansfield, Texas, and Elisa (Todd) Godwin of Columbus, Ohio; and her five great-grandchildren, Clay, Benjamin David and Carter Finley and Kayla Racine and Addison Godwin. Also surviving are her sisters-in-law, Freda and Vangie Pratt, her 19 nieces and nephews, her 37 great-nieces and nephews and her 32 great- great-nieces and nephews; and her longtime friend, Sandra Haines. Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday evening, July 5, 2013, at the funeral home. RICHARD K. MILLER JR., 45, of Prichard, W.Va., passed away July 3, 2013, after a courageous battle with leukemia. He was born October 23, 1967. Rich was a teacher and coach at Wayne Middle School where he loved his co-workers and the children he taught and coached. He was the son of Betty J. Miller of Huntington, W.Va., and the late Richard K. Miller. Rich is survived by his wife, Kimberly Scott Miller of Prichard; and three daughters, Christana Miller, Aimee Miller Jackson and husband Kevin, all of Huntington, W.Va., and Randi Miller of Prichard; one son, Richard "Scotty" Miller, also of Prichard; one sister, Linda Miller-McLaughlin and husband Jeff of Hillsboro, Ohio; and one brother, John Lee Miller of Huntington, W.Va.; one grandson, Landon Jackson of Huntington, W.Va. Rich was a faithful member of the Antioch Old Regular Baptist Church in Wayne, W.Va., after he became prepared for eternal life in May of 1998. Richard was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Dallas Bowen; infant daughter, Peyton Miller; paternal grandparents, John and Wynima Miller; and maternal grandparents, Brad and Mauda Mathis of Huntington, W.Va. He leaves behind many loving family members, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and co-workers. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 6, 2013, at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home, Wayne, W.Va., with Elder Art Mathis officiating. Burial will follow in the Mathis Cemetery. MRS. ALTA FERGUSON BOOTH, 88, of Ann Arbor, Mich., formerly of Wayne, W.Va., died Wednesday, July 3, 2013. She was born March 28, 1925, in Wayne County, a daughter of the late Charles F. and Armie Ferguson. Her husband, Jennings Booth, also preceded her in death, along with one daughter, Sandra Virga. Survivors include two daughters, Brenda (Leo) Nicholas and Sharon (Donald) Stein; six grandchildren, Cam Alee (David) Brown, Christopher (Shelly Ann) Virga, David (Michelle) Nicholas, Mark (Lisa) Nicholas, Eliza Nicholas, and Joseph Stein; son-in-law, Harry Virga; and a host of relatives and friends. Private graveside services will be held Sunday, July 7, 2013. The family will receive condolences Sunday afternoon at the home of Henry Frasher, 981 Right Fork Wilsons Creek Road. BETTYE LOUISE BROWNING, 86, of Huntington, WV passed away on July 4, 2013 at her residence. Graveside services will be conducted at Hillcrest Cemetery on Monday, July 8, 2013 at 11 A.M with Rev. Rodney Hale officiating. She was born on September 5, 1926 in Sherman, TX, a daughter of John and Opal Alexander. Bettye was a proud member of First Baptist Church of Ceredo, where she had a wonderful church family. Bettye was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Kady Browning, and her brother, Jack Alexander. She leaves behind to mourn her loss her niece Diane and her nephews, Danny and William Raymond; and a host of other nieces and nephews that brought her great joy. Also surviving is her brother-in-law Dan Cornwell and her special friend Harry. The family wishes to thank the following doctors for her wonderful care: Dr. LePonta, Dr. Snavely, Dr. Eastone, Dr. Morgan and especially, Dr. Dewayne C. Tackett. CHARLES EVERETTE SWIMM, 57, of Lavalette, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2013 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. He was born August 31, 1955 in Huntington, W.Va., and worked in carpentry. His father, William "Buddy" Swimm preceded him in death, along with one brother, John Swimm; sister-in-law, Terresa Wiley; and brothers-in-law, Herbert Steele and Anthony Steele. He is survived by his wife, Tracy Swimm; his daughter, Candice Swimm and her husband Sammy Jason; one son, Eric Swimm; and grandchildren, Cassidy Smith, Shawn Swimm, Sarah Swimm, and Mindy Swimm, all of Lavalette. Also surviving is his mother, Esta Mae Pack Swimm; six brothers, Roger Wayne Swimm and his wife Darlene, Bob Swimm and his wife Tina, all of East Lynn, William Swimm and his wife Paula of Wayne, Rufus "Perky" Swimm and his wife Tonya, Carl Swimm, and James Swimm, also of East Lynn; one sister, Diane Hughes and her husband Jerry of East Lynn, W.Va.; mother-in-law, Juanita Steele and her husband Curtis; and one sister-in-law, Benita Bailey; and a host of friends and family. ROBERT RAYMOND BROCK JR., 57, of Ceredo passed away Sunday, July 7, 2013, at his residence. He was born September 22, 1956, in Huntington, a son of the late Robert Raymond and Violet "Geraldine" West Brock. Robert was a member of the 20th Street Baptist Church and a stock boy for the B & B Foodmart. Survivors include two sisters and a brother-in-law Kay (George) Fryer of Catlettsburg, Ky. and Mary Smith of Kenova; two brothers and a sister-in-law Roger Brock of Catlettsburg, Ky. and Charles (Sharon) Brock of Riverview, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at Rollins Funeral Home with Pastor Rabun Haddock officiating. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service. JOHN DAVID EARLS passed away suddenly on July 7, 2013,. He lived in Spokane, Wash.. Formerly from Huntington, he graduated from Vinson High School and Marshall University where he was a TKE. He served in the U.S. Army. He leaves behind a beloved wife, Idalia, and two children, Jaclyn and Jason, all of Spokane, Wash.; two sisters Sheila Earls of Huntington and Billie Jo Earls of San Diego; and two special cousins Ralph Wood and Richard Chapman (Chaps). He loved and was loved by many. A friend on Facebook wrote, "I cannot wait to celebrate the greatest, most caring, true man I've ever met." This says it all. This wonderful, Christian soul touched all he came in contact with. Services will be Sunday, July 14, at Indian Trail Community Church, Spokane, Wash., with a reception following at Sons of Norway.

FLOSSIE LEE (ALIFF) STEPHENS, 71, of Wayne, died July 8, 2013, at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Otis Bowen. Burial will follow at Stephens Cemetery, Wayne, WV.
She was born April 4, 1942 in East Lynn, WV, a daughter of the late, Milton and Delphie Adkins Aliff. She was a homemaker. Her husbands, Bennie Davis and Carl Stephens also preceded her in death, along with her siblings Tommy & Sherman Aliff and Sadie "Nellie" Stevens and Effie Ferguson. Survivors include daughters, Dorothy (Jason) Adkins, Michele (Stan) Bradshaw, and Patty (Earl) Davis of Wayne; Annette (Steve) Johnson of Huntington, son Danny (Donna) Davis of Efland, North Carolina, brothers Charles (Juanita) Aliff of Wayne, WV, and Carl (Helen) Aliff of Ohio; sisters Mary Ferguson, Josie Adkins, and Madeline (Hubert) Lester of Wayne, ten grandchildren; Jessica Chinn, Stacey Gilkerson, Jacob Gilkerson, Danielle Davis, Matthew Talbert, Rachel Talbert, Glen Adkins, Jennifer Beaver, Bobby Davis and Laura Bradshaw, 15 Great Grandchildren, a special niece and her husband Vivian and Tom Simonic, very special friends Jamie & Nan Blankenship. LARRY EUGENE PLYMALE, 70, of Kenova, passed away Monday, July 8, 2013, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. He was born August 4, 1942, in Kenova, a son of the late Ernest Plymale Jr. and the late Evelyn Casto Plymale. Larry was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kenova, the American Legion Post No. 93, whose members will conduct graveside rites, the Northeastern Kentucky Fish & Game Association and a past member of the Kenova Volunteer Fire Department. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army and was retired from A.K. Steel in the electronics department. Survivors include his beloved wife, Lana N. Workman Plymale of Kenova; two daughters and sons-in-law Robin Dale (Shawn) Wahl and Teresa Lynn (Dale) Robertson, all of Huntington; grandchildren Shane, Ryleigh and Trey Wahl and Tyler and Wyatt Robertson, all of Huntington, Kyle, T.J. and Brett Adkins, all of Kenova; special cousins Julie and Greg Adkins of Kenova; one brother and sister-in-law Danny (Norma) Plymale of Huntington; mother-in-law Lora Workman of Kenova; and a host of family and friends. GLORIA ROXANNE BRINEGAR GRINSTEAD, 52, of Kenova, WV passed away Monday, July 8, 2013 at home. She was born April 19 1961 in Huntington, WV. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob Grinstead. She worked as a caregiver to many. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Christina and Tony Hughes of Proctorville, Ohio; one son, Christopher Leftwich of Kenova, WV; two grandchildren, Trenton Whited and Patience Turner; six sisters, Trish Jarrell, Beverly Wilkenson, Gwenny Adkins, Violet Nicely, Renee Turner, and Leoria Carter; three brothers Greg Brinegar, Howard Brinegar, and Timothy Brinegar; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, Ohio by Pastor Brian Root. Burial will follow in Graham Cemetery, New Haven. WV. FLORELLA JEAN KELLER, 72, of Kenova, formerly of Huntington, widow of Robert L. Keller, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at St. Mary's Medical Center. She was born March 15, 1941 in Huntington, a daughter of the late Woodrow Wilson and Virginia May Walker Leach. Florella was a homemaker and a member of Highlawn Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Robyn L. Evans of Broseley, MO., and Rhonda and Patrick Stark of Charlestown, WV; two sons and daughters-in-law, Randall and Jamie Keller and Roy and Kelly Keller, all of Huntington; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren; a sister, Marion Lynette Stewart and a brother, Ashby Grey Walker Leach of Fort Gay, WV. Funeral services will be conducted 3:30 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013, at Chapman's Mortuary and burial will be in Ridgelawn Memorial Park, Huntington. EDDIE F. BUXTON, 66, of Genoa, W.V. passed away Friday, July 12, 2013 at his home. He was born February 24,1947 in Lodi, Ohio a son of the late and Mary Belle Dreibilbis Buxton. He was a metal fabricator and was of Baptist Faith. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by stepdaughter, Lois Detwiler. JACK LEE HALL, 58, of Wayne, W.Va., passed away Saturday, July 13, 2013 at his residence. He was born November 19, 1954 in Goody, Kentucky a son of the late Jack and Charline Hall. MINNIE ANN CARNEY JOHNSON, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and child of God was surrounded by her family when she went home to be with her Lord on Monday, July 15, 2013. She was born August 2, 1931 in Charleston, WV a daughter of the late Arnold B. and Lillie M. Miller Carney. Minnie was a faithful member of Kenova United Methodist Church where she was very active with the Busy Fingers Quilting Circle, the Upper Room Sunday school class and she was a weekly volunteer in the Welcome Center at church. Minnie was a secretary for Beckley Loan Company until she and Jay began their family. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Thurman Jay Johnson; one sister, Henrietta Sander and two brothers, Clayton A. Carney and Buck M. Carney. Minnie is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Steve & Kathy Johnson of Kenova; two daughters and one son-in-law, Jayne and Doug Angles of Glen Allen, VA and Bev Johnson of Kenova; two granddaughters and their spouses, Kristin and Jeff Sanders and Ashlee and David Maynard all of Kenova; one grandson, Jason Angles of Claremont, NH; great grandchildren, Chris, Ben and Abby Sanders and Maezie Angles; one sister and brother-in-law, Sybil and Ed Shirkey of Boiling Springs, SC; a special cousin, Barbara Ballard of St. Albans, WV and her church family. Beverly was born March 15, 1940, in Rochester, N.Y., a daughter of the late Henry Miller and Helen Case Miller Black. She was also preceded in death by her brother Donald Miller. She is survived by her husband Roger L. Weir; two sons and their wives, David (Debra) Weir of Franklin County, Virginia and Dan (Katherine) Weir of Charlotte, North Carolina; one daughter and her husband Lisa (Don) Davis of Auburn, Kentucky. In addition, four grandsons, Mitchell Weir, Benjamin Weir, Nickolas Weir and Matthew Weir; one sister Marcia Bennett of Montour Falls, New York and a host of nieces and nephews survive her as well. Beverly was a 40-year member of Westmoreland Baptist Church, a volunteer at the Huntington Museum of Art in the library, and a volunteer at the Huntington VA Medical Center. RONALD L. SATTERFIELD, 62, of Lavalette, W.Va., passed away Tuesday July 23, 2013. He was born September 30, 1950, in Fairmont, W.Va. His father, Earl Rayburn Satterfield, preceded him in death along with one brother, David Allen Satterfield. Survivors include his loving wife, Diane Satterfield of Lavalette; his son, Ryan Satterfield and his wife Rochelle; his mother, Alma Hawkins Satterfield; his sister, Karen Watkins and her husband Ron, all of Fairmont; and many friends and family, too numerous to mention. Ron served his country in the U.S. Air Force. During the 1980s and 1990s he worked as the Director of Representation for the KYOWVA Area Local American Postal Workers Union, AFL-CIO. After he left his position, he remained committed to protecting and advancing union jobs in this area by leading marches and distributing petitions. He was also a member of the Harley-Davidson Owner's Group and enjoyed his time outdoors. Ron loved people and could often be found talking at the donut shop in Ashland during his lunch break. He never met a stranger and was a true friend to many. He will be sorely missed. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home. WILLARD SHERMAN McGLONE, 74, of Kenova, W.Va., passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at King's Daughters Medical Center. He was born May 13, 1939, in Kenova, W.Va., a son of the late Earl and Elva Sammons McGlone. Willard was retired from ACF Industries, and he was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army. Besides his parents he was also preceded in death by one brother, Glen McGlone; one sister, Faye Fry; and a special friend, Helen Barker. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Shawn Finley of Huntington; and two sons, Danny McGlone of Lawton, Oklahoma, and Jeff McGlone of Huntington; one brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Helen McGlone of Kenova; six grandchildren, Josh, Wade, Sara, Dennis, Wendy and Trae; two great-grandchildren, Charlotte and George; and numerous nieces and nephews. PATRICIA DIANE JOBE BIAS, 62, of Lavalette, W.Va, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, July 26, 2013. Pat was born June 5, 1951, in Huntington to Ruth Kerns Jobe and the late Robert P. Jobe. In addition to her mother, survivors include her husband, George Bias; and stepson, David Bias of Lavalette; stepson, Bill Bias, his wife, Tammy, and children, Amber, Austin and Sarah of Huntsville, Alabama; lifelong best friend/sister, Patricia Smith Stinnett; very special friends, Laura Blake, Peggy Hutchinson, Sharon Whitley, Debbie McIntyre, Wilma Skeen, Arlene Damron and their families: her church family; her neighbors; physician/friend, Dr. Kevin McCann; and many others. A graduate of Buffalo High School and Marshall University, Pat's sole purpose in this life was to serve others. She nurtured nearly 1,000 students during her 34 years of teaching at Lavalette Elementary School. She touched the lives of hundreds of people for whom she catered their wedding, shower, anniversary, retirement, birthday, or other celebration of life. She was a lifelong active member of Lavalette United Methodist Church and Lavalette Women's Club. She was the tireless caregiver for her beloved mother, Ruth, and devoted wife to George, her cherished husband of 24 years. She was loving mother to David and Bill as well as to the children of all her dear friends. She provided support to many people during both joy and sadness. She was known for her hugs which could ease sorrow and pain with just one squeeze of her strong arms around you. Her last breath of life were spent in counseling a neighbor. "As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another ... as one who serves by the strength that God supplies... " I Peter 4:10-11. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Berta Faye Billups and Illeta Lowe, and brothers, Jerry Rowsey and Glen Rowsey. He is survived by his wife, Gloria Gee Short Billups of Louisa, Ky.; and sisters, Doris Crockett, Arlene Blankenship and Judy Murphy, all of Huntington, W.Va., Delores Arthur of Milton, W.Va., and Mary L. McCreery of South Point, Ohio. Additional survivors include sisters-in-law, Carole Short Yetter (Ed) of Zanesville, Ohio, and Treva Watts Short (Bill) of Louisa, Ky. He leaves behind several nieces and nephews; Emmalee, a very special great-great niece; and a very special companion, his dog Pepper. He was a proud Marine veteran, having served four years in the South Pacific. He retired from Kraft Foods Inc., where he was employed for 30 years. He loved spending weekends at Huntington Airport and Chesapeake flying his Piper PA-11. He also had a strong interest in sports cars. SHELBY HARBOUR, 93, of Kenova, W.Va., died on July 29, 2013, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington. He was born in Huntington on Dec. 2, 1919, to Shelby and Lucille Harbour, who was a long-time director of the Kiwanis Daycare Center. During World War II, Harbour served in the 78th and 461st Air Service Groups and the 1106th Army Air Forces Base Unit, including support of D-Day. His overseas assignments included England, France, Trinidad and Puerto Rico. After the war, Harbour began a 30-year career with the Veterans Administration. Starting as a clerk in Huntington, within six years he worked his way up to being the VA's assistant finance officer and then moved to Washington, D.C., where he became the financial manager of the VA's Mt. Alto Hospital, and later of the VA Headquarters in Washington, D.C. When he retired in 1975, the VA administrator recognized Harbour with a prestigious "Distinguished Career" Award. Harbour retired to Kenova. He was an avid gardener, fisherman and bowler, having bowled in numerous scratch leagues in the D.C-Metro area and senior leagues in Huntington. Although he was Methodist, he accompanied his wife Emile to church at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Huntington, for the past 30 years. Harbour is survived by his wife of 50 years Emile Harbour and his two sisters, Jackie Ballard of Huntington and JoAnn Sharp of Palos Heights, Ill. His immediate family includes his son Jan Harbour and his wife Linda of Huntington; daughter Diana Ehlich and her husband Scott of Forest, Va., and daughter Kim Harbour and her husband Kris Hall of Hurricane, W.Va. The Harbours have five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, all of whom live in the Huntington area. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Father Livinus Uba. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, W.Va. JACKIE BRUCE ADKINS, 55, of Lavalette, W.Va., passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Pastor Keith Watters. Burial will be in the Insco Cemetery, Wayne, W.Va. Jackie was born July 4, 1958, in Cabell County, W.Va. a son of the late Jack and Mandy Insco Adkins. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He had a heart of gold, and his caring nature influenced many lives. He was a former truck driver. Survivors include his loving wife of 36 years, Jeanne Adkins; a son, Dominic Alexander Adkins at home; two daughters and a son-in-law, Trina Owens of Lavalette, Kathy Adkins Roth and her husband Jeff of Huntington; seven grandchildren who were the light of his life, Richard Bruce Owens, Damian Skaggs, Dalton Gue, Cheyenne Roth, Mandy Roth, Jaide Roth and Joni Roth; a brother, Melvin Adkins of Huntington; two sisters, Judy White of Tennessee and Brenda Flemings and Bill of Huntington. JESSIE IRENE WILLIAMSON, 95, of Salt Rock, WV, passed awav Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at Wayne Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born August 5,1917 at Harts, WV. Her husband, Elzie Williamson, a daughter, Sharon Williamson, and a son, Clovis Williamson preceded her in death. Survivors include a son, Paul Williamson (Cynthia) of Salt Rock, WV, and a niece Marie Williamson (Hallie) of Wayne, WV, whom she raised as her own. ROBERT "Bob" SALMONS, 83 of Turkey Creek, Ky. passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at the Skilled Nursing Facility of the South Williamson Appalachian Regional Hospital. He was born November 6, 1929 at Crum, WV the son of the late Sherman and Virginia Varney Salmons. He was also preceded in death by a son, Robert James "Bobby" Salmons; brothers, Homer, Hubert Ray, Roy and Albert Salmons; sisters, Elva McGlone, Louise Sturgell and Dorothy Harris and a half brother, James Salmons. Bob was a retired coal miner with C. & R. Coal Company, a member of the Turkey Creek Freewill Baptist Church and a United States Army Veteran serving in the Korean War and a purple heart recipient. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Crum Salmons of Turkey Creek; daughter, Dorothy "Marie" (Phillip) Brumfield of Lavalette, WV; sons, Mitchell Bryant (Lisa) Salmons and Micheal Bryan (Shellia) Salmons all of Turkey Creek, KY; grandchildren, Robert "Ethan" Salmons, Jacob "Evan" Salmons and Enoch "Elijah" Salmons and a host of other family and friends. Funeral services will be 11 AM Monday, August 5, 2013 at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Eddie May, Jimmy Stanley, Danny Swafford and Mikey Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy, Ky. with Phillip Brumfield, Ethan Salmons, David Salmons, Tim Salmons, Teddy Robinette and Sherman Sturgell serving as pallbearers.
