JANIE LILLIAN CLEMENTS, 98, of Fort Gay passed away Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Heritage Place in Huntington, W.V. She was born June 20, 1915 in Cedar, W.V. a daughter of the late Harvey and Roxie Davis Mounts. She was a housewife. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles Francis, James Lemaster and Harvey Clements; one daughter, Lois Jean Francis; Survivors include, two sons, Winfield Francis of Huntington, W.V.; Danny Lee Francis of Fort Gay, W.V.; two daughter, Alma Sadler of McConnell, W.V.; Gaynelle Ball of Patriot, Ohio; 5 Grandchildren, 9 Great Grandchildren and 5 Great Great Grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Sunday, May 4, 2014 at Young Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Richard Maynard officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be noon til 2:00 pm Sunday at Young Funeral Home Chapel.

JAMES DOW WILSON, 82, of Malcolm Lane, Huntington, beloved teacher, coach and mentor of countless students, died Friday, May 2, 2014 at Lavalette. He was born September 22, 1931 at Kenova, a son of the late James C. and Gladys M. Booton Wilson. He was a retired English teacher and coach of football, basketball and baseball at Wayne High School, and was a U. S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. Jimmy Dow was a faithful member of the Wayne United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School and organized and ran the church's food pantry for many years. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Donna Sullivan, a brother, Dana Morris, and two very special friends, Scott Jarrell and Bill Ketchum. Survivors include two nieces, Debra Fannin (Phillip) and Angela Tackett, all of Russell, Ky.; three nephews, Mark Sullivan of Crown City, Ohio, David Morris (Bonnie) of Lavalette, and D. C. Morris (Patty) of Wayne; and numerous other family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 5, 2014 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, with Rev. Jake Steele and Pastor Doug Booton officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery at Wayne. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Morris Funeral Home. The family wishes to extend special thanks to caregivers June Bowen and Paulette Rakes who provided love and care in his final years, and also to Hospice of Huntington. CRYSTAL ELIZABETH SKEAN-OWENS, born October 29, 1970, passed away Friday, May 2, 2014. Crystal had a contagious laugh with an inner light and a vibrance that affected everyone who knew her. Funeral services will be conducted at 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Rev. Phillip Warren, burial will follow at Docks Creek Cemetery, Kenova. Survived by her two beautiful daughters, Mackenzie and Hayden Wright of Kenova; her husband, William "Eddie" Owens of Huntington; her beloved parents, Ida Carol and Bernard Skean of Kenova; sisters, Courtney Skean of Columbus, Ohio, and Julia Skean of Kenova; nephews, Parker McComas and Preston Skean of Kenova; and a host of friends and family. Close loved ones preceding her in death were her infant son, Steven Ray Marcum Jr., and Aunt Julia "Judy" Lycan. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Reger Funeral Home in Huntington. CAROLYN SUE SULLIVAN, age 84, a life-long resident of Ceredo, died Friday, May 2, 2014, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington following a short illness. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a woman of faith and a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Ceredo. Born Carolyn Sue Newman, on the 17th day of May, 1929, one of nine children born to James H. and Grace Stapleton Newman. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty six years, Robert "Pete" Sullivan, one brother, Bill Newman, and five sisters, Nina "Dutch" Pratt, Mildred Eales, Edna "Frostie" Duncan, Betty Pratt and Janet Daniels. She is survived by three children: Bob Sullivan of Teays Valley, Suzanne (Doug) Woods of Huntington, and Kelly (Carole) Sullivan of Ceredo; five grandchildren: Josh Carroll of Roanoke, Va., Cheryl Sullivan of Barboursville, Chris and Cassidy Sullivan of Huntington, and Mandy Muncy of El Paso, Texas; a sister, Cindy (John) Balasis of Lakeland, Florida; and her twin brother, Charles "Fat" Newman of Bartow, Florida. She also leaves behind a dear friend and confidant, Helen Webb of Ceredo. While she was a proud homemaker, she found time to help the Ceredo Kenova Little League Moms, Ceredo Kenova Band Boosters, Ceredo Kenova Football Moms, and the Ceredo Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She is also credited with stitching the first official flag for the Town of Ceredo. She was proud of her home and the many awards bestowed upon her by the Ceredo Beautification Committee. Mom fought some tough battles with her health the past few years but managed to overcome some significant odds. The family wishes to thank the Ceredo Volunteer Fire Department for the many times they responded to assist her and then to transport her one last time to Cabell Huntington Hospital. Special thanks go to the professional staff and physicians in the SICU at Cabell Huntington Hospital for giving us those last few precious days with her. Mom asked us to send special thanks to a few family friends: Tim Provaznik, for his many acts of kindness and his countless visits to the house and hospital to check on her; Sara Thompson, for the flowers and made-from-scratch cupcakes that made her smile; and to Phil Selby, who never failed to make her laugh. She requested only graveside services be held and we choose to honor that wish. The service and interment will be held at Crescent Hill Cemetery in Ceredo on Friday, May 9, at 11 a.m. The Reverend Rodney Hale will be officiating, assisted by the Reverend Scott Byard. Rollins Funeral Home is assisting the family with preparations. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House.

GID WILLIAMSON age 79 of Grove City passed in to God’s care on May 4, 2014. Gid loved the Lord. Born December 21, 1934 to the late Jay and Maggie Waller) Williamson in Crum, WV. He married Martha McCorkle on March 28, 1969. It was from this union they had three children. Marsha (Michael) Taylor, Gid David (Annette) Williamson and Mary Beth Jason) Sparks, all of Grove City. The twinkle in his eyes were his three grandbabies, who called him Paw Paw. They are Matthew and Michael Taylor and Olivia Grace Sparks. He is survived by his brothers Grover Kathryn) Williamson and Lelon "Huff" (Louise) Williamson. Also surviving loving sister-in-law Mary (Toby) Borland; sister-in-law Janet (Charles) Bullock brothers-in-law Jerry McCorkle and Guy (Sue) McCorkle. Numerous nieces’ nephews and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers Lacy, Jennings and Wayne Williamson; sisters Goldie Walker, Oretha Marcum and Dorothy Copley; beloved sister-in-law Linda Williamson. He was a member of Williams Road Freewill Baptist Church, and attended Central Baptist Church. He was a 32 degree Mason in the Masonic Order. He was the founder, owner and president of G. Williamson Maintenance Inc. Gid was a hard worker; he was a devoted husband, father and a loving Paw Paw. JOSEPH MARCUM, 63, of Louisa, Ky., husband of Darlene Marcum, died May 2, 2014. Graveside service will be conducted 11:30 a.m. Friday at E.C. Thompson Cemetery, Fort Gay. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Young Funeral Home Chapel.

LUCILLE VEALEY, 83, of Kenova, W.Va., passed away Monday, May 5, 2014, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, May 8, 2014, at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Barboursville with Pastor Scott Byard officiating. There will be no visitation. Lucille was born April 22, 1931, in Decota, W.Va., a daughter of the late Edward and Rosetta Boling Webb. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Delbert Ray Vealey. Survivors include two sons, Danny Vealey of Ottawa, Kansas and Hubert Vealey of Florence, South Carolina; three daughters, Beulah Sutherland of Kenova, W.Va., Laverene Wageman of Huntington, W.Va., and Brenda Akers of Florida; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and a special caregiver Karen Lemaster. There will be no procession to the cemetery. Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova is assisting the Vealey family. DAVID "Danny" TABOR, 75, of Wayne, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 5, 2014 after a long illness. Born September 18, 1938 in Wayne, West Virginia, Danny worked as a coal truck driver. Additionally he was a past Town of Wayne Police Officer and Wayne County Deputy. He also volunteered over 25 years with the Wayne Volunteer Fire Department. He was a past member of Milton Highlawn Church of God, and more recently attended Pastor John Moore’s church here in Wayne. His mother, Imogene Fraley Tabor preceded him in death along with his wife of 16 years, Pansy Adkins Tabor; and one grandson, David Marcus Tabor. He leaves behind three sons, David Lynn Tabor, Paul Ray Tabor, and Duane E. Tabor and his girlfriend Brandy Anderson, with whom he made his home; two granddaughters, Jasmine Tabor and Gabby Anderson; special friend, and mother of his children, Mary Frances Tabor; and two brothers, Carlton Tabor and his wife Betty, and Ronald Tabor, all of Wayne. Also surviving are three stepchildren, Walter Adkins Jr., Donald Ray Adkins, and Linda Pearl Adkins, all of Dunlow, W.Va.; and several brothers and sisters-in- law. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2014 at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home with Pastor Ronnie Marcum officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. JOHN THOMAS CYRUS, 75, of Proctorville, Ohio passed away on May 5, 2014. John was born March 16, 1939, in Crown City, Ohio, son of the late Dewey Lee and Minnie Watts Cyrus. John is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara Garrett Cyrus; daughters Patricia Cyrus Stiltner (Ronald) and Susan Cyrus Cisco (Mark); grandchildren Meredith Hawthorne, Garrett Legg, and Laura Jane Stiltner; great-grandson Elishah Hawthorne; brother Danny Cyrus (Charlene); and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Loretta Cyrus, Bea Cyrus Payne and Dorlene Cyrus Sexton; and brothers Holbert Cyrus and Donald Cyrus. John was retired from Connor Steel and operated the Orchard Hills Golf Course in the 1980's. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1960-1966, and was a member of the Farmdale Church of Christ. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2014, at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio with the service immediately following at 1 p.m. with Danny Evans and Willie Purdee officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery Huntington, W.Va. KEITH ERASTUS MAYS, 79, of Huntington, WV passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2014. He was born on January 31, 1935 in Wayne County, WV; a son of the late Erastus Mays and Rebecca Staley. He retired as a cook from the VA Medical Center, Huntington, WV and was a member of the Faith Freewill Baptist Church in Lavalette and a US Army Veteran. He leaves behind to mourn his loss his beloved great nephew Todd (Missy) Mays. Keith was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert, Clifford and Leo Mays, and his sisters, Opal Walker, Delores Harmon and Leiusetta Doss and his niece Doris Mays and three very special great-nephews: Terry Mays, Teddy Mays and Steve Wilks and his loving companion Katherine Lewis. Surviving are his brother Glen (Judy) Mays, his niece Betty (Zim) Riley and his nephews Ted Mays and Jack (Brenda) Mays. Also surviving are his precious great-great nieces Laura Gene Mays and Leah Bell Mays and his beautiful great-great-great-nephew Tripp Mays and many other loving nieces and nephews and friends. Funeral services were conducted on Friday, May 9, 2014 at 2 PM at the funeral home with Pastor Danny Roberts officiating with burial followed at Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Wayne County, WV. MAYNARD TOTTEN, 74, of Wayne, went into the arms of our heavenly Father on Tuesday May 6, 2014 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington, WV after a long courageous battle with cancer. Maynard is son of the late Leonard and Nan Totten. He was also preceded in death by his wife Faye Totten in 2011. He is survived by his four sisters Geraldine Brewster of Huntington, WV, Roberta Seog of Ann Arbour, MI, Brenda A. Chafin of Burlington, Ohio, and Nancy Parsons of Huntington, WV; two daughters Angela (Mark) Caperton of Wayne, where he resided, and Tara Totten of Huntington; three grandchildren, whom he loved unconditionally, Beka Hensley, Nathan Hensley, and Kristen Caperton; and numerous family and friends. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was a retired telephone installer with Verizon after 23 years. Funeral service were conducted 11:30 a.m. Friday May 9, 2014 at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio. Burial followed in Langdon Cemetery, Chesapeake, Ohio. Proctorville VFW Post #6878 will conduct military graveside rites. Visitation will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday May 9, 2014 at the funeral home. JO ANN SMITH, 81, of Louisa, Ky. passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at her home. She was born April 21, 1933 in Radnor, W.V. a daughter of the late James Hubert and Jocie Hampton Sword. She was a housewife. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, David E. Smith; daughter, Rhonda K. Smith. Survivors include, one son, Jack L. "Mitzie" Smith of Harrison, Ohio; two sisters, Joy Maynard of Louisa, Ky.; Gaye Robertson of Mansfield, Ohio; two brothers, Bob Sword of Fort Gay, W.V.; Jim Sword of Ashland, Ky.; A host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Young Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Richard Maynard and Rev. Tim Preston officiating. ALESHIA RENEE LUCAS, 22, of Wayne, WV passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 11, 2014 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Otis Bowens officiating. Burial will follow in Community Memorial Gardens, Wayne, WV. She was born on February 26, 1992 at Huntington, WV to Lisa Ann Campisi Levis. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her step-father Gary Lee Levis, brother Jonathan Dale Allen Lucas of Wayne, WV, sister Kendra Nicole June Lucas of Wayne, WV, step sisters Stephanie and Ashley Levis, nieces Jayden Lucas and Kayden Levis, nephews Jonathan Lucas Jr., Gage Levis and Hunter Lucas and Uncle Keith Campisi. HERMAN LEE CRABTREE, JR., 43, of Las Vegas passed away at home on Wednesday, May 7, 2014. Herman was born in Cleveland, OH on October 20, 1970. He was manager at Mirage Motel in Las Vegas and also a truck driver. He was a wonderful father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by grandparents Lois Crabtree and John Dolsie Thompson, uncles Dale and Ricky Crabtree and many cousins. Survivors are father Herman (Kathy) Crabtree of Fort Gay, mother Edith F. (Loyd) Cottrill of Tampa, FL, loving girlfriend Sara Walker, son Christopher Crabtree, daughters Brittany and Amber Crabtree and Breanna Walker; two grandchildren, Logan Crabtree and Calvin Radford all of Las Vegas; three siblings, Kenneth Crabtree of Las Vegas, Stephanie Boone of Prichard, WV, Tammy Dalton or Perrysville, OH, three special friends Brenda Thatcher, Danville, OH, Alfred and Roberta Baca of Las Vegas; special aunts Betty Lou Adkins, Edna (Don) Wilson, Diane (Randy) Adkins and Ruth Thompson; Uncles Jimmy, Tommy and Roy Crabtree, Bob Adkins, Frank Thompson and a host of other special aunts, uncles, cousin and friends. FREDIA EILEEN ADKINS, 58, of Raleigh, N.C., formerly of Wayne, WV, passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Rex Hospital in Raleigh, NC. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 12, 2014 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne with Brother Roger Maynard officiating. Burial will follow at Community Memorial Gardens, Wayne, WV. Fredia was born on February 3, 1956, in West Hamlin, WV, to Lois Crockett McKenzie of Portsmouth, Ohio and the late John McKenzie. She was a Customer Service Rep for Binswinger Glass. In addition to her mother, Fredia is survived by her loving husband Henry Dale Adkins, two daughters Benita Milan (Chris) of Kenova, WV, and Morena Sansom (Brett) of Salt Rock, WV, son Brian Adkins of Salt Rock, WV, brothers Jesse Crockett (Jackie) of Fredericksburg, Virginia, JR Roof (Lisa), Marvin Roof, and Johnny McKenzie all of Portsmouth, Ohio, special granddaughter Brianna Dunlop and her son Niaz Dunlop both of Raleigh, NC, numerous other grandchildren and her best friends Jeannie Price and Julia Coates. HARRISON "Mousie" BLEVINS JR., 47, of Dunlow, West Virginia passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia Harrison was born and raised in Nolan, West Virginia on October 9, 1966 to the late Harrison and Hazel Blevins. He leaves behind a wife of 20 years, Doris Blevins, a son, Jordan Rowland Blevins and a daughter, Ruth Murphy. He also leaves behind a brother, Jason Blevins of Steptown, West Virginia, 2 sisters, June Carol Blevins of Minford, Ohio and Eva Crabtree Forth of Huntington, West Virginal and numerous aunts and uncles. Funeral services will be held at the Warfield Chapel of the Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home in Warfield, Kentucky on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 11:00am with Earl White and Ray Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at the Mountain View Memory Gardens in Maher, West Virginia. Visitation was at the Chapel on Thursday, May 8th and Friday, May 9th from 6:00-9:00pm. JAMES THURMAN LEWIS, 83, of Kenova, WV, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at the Genesis-Putnam Center in Hurricane. Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 P.M. Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Rollins Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Byard officiating. Interment will follow in Spring Valley Memory Gardens in Huntington. James was born June 13, 1930 in Wayne County WV. a son of the late Fred and Susie Riggs Lewis. He was a retired Traffic Clerk from the KRT Coal Company. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved wife Agnes Juanita Johns Lewis and one brother Thomas "Freddie" Lewis. Survivors include one son James Michael Lewis of Ceredo, WV; one daughter Brenda K. Lewis Barbour of Kenova, WV; two granddaughters and their spouses Lauren Lewis Workman (Ben) of Huntington, WV. and Kristen Barbour Albin (Eric) of Omaha, Nebraska; one brother and his wife John F. Lewis (Sue) of Huntington, WV; one sister-in-law Mildred Lewis of Prichard, WV. and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. ELSIE K. WARD, 54, of fort Gay, W.V. passed away Friday, May 9, 2014 at Three rivers Medical Center in Louisa, Ky. She was born November 21, 1959 in Louisa, Ky. a daughter of the late Milton and Polly Jordan. She was a housewife and mother. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Brian Michael Ward; brother, James Jordan; sisters, Louise Fugett and Leona Lester. Survivors include her loving husband of 24 years, Johnny Ray Ward of Fort Gay, W.V.; daughter, Sharon Renee Ward of Fort Gay, W.V.; brothers, Willie Jordan and Robert Jordan both of Fort Gay, W.V.; sisters, Victoria Jordan, Nora Jordan, Ome Caudill all of Fort Gay, W.V.. Bertha Lunsford of Florida; funeral services were conducted 2:00 pm Monday, May 12, 2014 at Fort Gay Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Preston officiating. PAULINE WHITT, 72, of Ceredo, WV, (formerly of Kenova) passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2014. She was born on August 17, 1941 in Kenova, WV; a daughter of the late Alpha Blevins and Dixie (Thacker) Blevins. Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Whitt, her brother Billy G. Blevins, her grandson Steven Garrett Hitchcock and his wife Shelly Nicole Hitchcock. Pauline is survived by her children: Ricky (Sandra) Hitchcock and David (Vanessa) Maynard, Barbara Hamm and Barbara’s daughters April Scaggs and Amy Perry. Also surviving are Brooklyn Nicole Hitchcock, Jada rae Perry and their mother Elizabeth Perry; Sena Maynard, Keana Maynard, Zachary Maynard, Malia Leonard, Matthew Grant, Mark Grant and Janice Blevins and many other grandchildren and her special aunt Betty Heck. ROY LEE LOVE, 65, of Spencer, West Virginia died Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Charleston Area Medical Center’s General Division, Charleston, West Virginia. He was born May 13, 1948 in Genoa, West Virginia a son of the late Henry H. and Anna Jean Robertson Love. CLARENCE "CLARKY" HAYES CLARKSON, 83, of Ceredo, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 14, 2014. Clarky was retired from AT and T where he had worked as a technician. He was an avid wood worker and was a member of the WV Wood Turners Association. Clarky was a long time servant and member of the First Baptist Church of Ceredo where he was a past Deacon and Treasurer. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Dotty Ester Chafin Clarkson and one sister, Betty Taylor. WILLIAM DAVID PARSONS, 90, Fort Gay, W.V. passed away Thursday, May 22, 2014 at his home. He was born September 12, 1923 in Fort Gay, W.V. a son of the late Samuel and Nary Webb Parsons. He was a retired sawmill laborer and he was of Baptist faith. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Goldie Jean Thompson Parsons; three sons, Nathan E. Thompson, Bobby J. Thompson and Samuel A. Parsons. Survivors include, one daughter, Loretta Parsons Kitts of Fort Gay, W.V.; son, David R. Parsons of Kenova, W.V.; brothers, Franklin Parsons of Fort Gay, W.V.; Arthur Parsons of Kenova, W.V.; sister, Blanche Stiltner of Prichard, W.V.; 14 Grandchildren, several great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren. WILLIAM HOMER FERGUSON, 89, of Genoa, W.Va., died Friday, May 23, 2014. He was born February 23, 1925 in Wayne County, a son of the late Joseph and Fannie Ferguson. His wife, Ollie Robinson Ferguson, also preceded him in death along with three brothers, Sherman Ferguson, Raymond Ferguson, and Jim Ferguson, all of Dunlow. Homer was a Veteran of World War II, a 3rd degree Master Mason, and retired from Carbide Plant in Ashtabula, Oh. Survivors include three daughters, Phyllis Aker, Sherry Shallop, and Tammy Ferguson, all of Pennsylvania; two grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three sisters, Mazie Copley, Hazel Stamper, and Irene Jarrell all of Dunlow; special friends, James and Mary Preece; and host of nieces and nephews. VOLLIE A. BLOSS, 80, of Lavalette, W.Va., went to his heavenly home on May 24, 2014, at St. Mary's Medical Center. He was born March 1, 1934, a son of the late Floyd and Genia Bloss. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Norma June; his brothers, Charles, Sanders, Leonard and Frank Bloss; sisters, Elizabeth Plymale and Katherine Esque; and a special nephew, Danny Bloss. He is survived by his brother, Herman (Jeanine) Bloss; his sisters, Nettie (Ernie) Shank, Claretta Edwards; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Margaret and Jim Lambert; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Jarvis and Margaret Bloss. Vollie was a retired heavy equipment operator and a member of Trinity Chapel. Some of Vollie's favorite activities were camping, boating, woodworking, apple butter and molasses making, whittling at the lake with his pals and keeping up with the comings and goings at Sugarwood Golf Course. Also surviving are Loretta and Kenny Smith, who loved and cared for Vollie; a special nephew, Thomas (Judy) Bloss; his Mountain Fever (Glory Bound) Kids, Richard and Peggy Napier, Marlin and Peggy Oldaker, Bertha Thompson and Loretta Smith and many nieces, nephews and friends who loved Vollie. CLIFFORD DARRELL HATTEN, 75, of Prichard, passed away Saturday, May 24, 2014, at his residence. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Clifford was born March 20, 1939, in Wayne County, W.Va., a son of the late Henry Garland and Reba Ellen Lowe Hatten. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army. He loved the outdoors working, hunting and fishing. He was a foreman at the Colorado Springs Parks and Recreation Department for 17 years and a foreman and superintendent for the Huntington Park Board for 25 years. Besides his parents he was also preceded in death by three brothers, Wayman Henry, Lunda Bruce and Amos Monroe Hatten; four sisters, Beatrice Irene Adkins, Beulah Chenault, Doris Jude and Carol Lambert. Survivors include his wife, Edna Hatten; three sons, Randolph Hatten (Debbie) of Prichard, Mark Hatten of Colorado Springs, Colo., Wade Hatten of Lexington, Ky.; one daughter, Diane Pierce of Prichard; one brother, Glen Ray Hatten (Jan) of Park Wood, Washington; and a brother-in-law, Claude Jude. MR. PEARL E. BOOTH, 94, of Huntington, W.Va., went to be with his Lord Sunday, May 25, 2014, at Woodlands Retirement Community in Huntington. He was born April 12, 1920 in Wayne, W.Va., a son of the late Elba and Emily Smith Booth. Pearl was a retired insurance agent and a member of Grace Gospel Church. He served as Wayne County Commissioner for 30 years, along with one term as Wayne County Assessor and was past President of the Tri-State Airport Authority. His loving wife, Emma P. Booth preceded him in death, along with an infant daughter; three sisters, Mae Booth, Beulah Booth, Talitha McSweeney; three brothers, Morris Gaston Booth, Curtis Booth, Elston Booth; two cousins that were raised as his brother and sister, Dennis Preston and Fontella Lett; and a great-grandson, Jonathan Elias McClure. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Jack Whitehead, daughter Connie Smith and two brothers, Clarence and Jack Smith. VERLIN DIAL "DOODLE" WHEELER, 94, of Huntington, W.Va., passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2014, in the Edgemont Manor in Lucasville, Ohio. Doodle was born June 10, 1919, in Lavalette, W.Va., a son of the late Lewis "Dink" Hobart and June Etta Morrison Wheeler. He served in the U.S. Army Paratroopers 82nd Airborne from 1944-1946 in Georgia and California. He worked for the Nickel Plant and spent most of his life selling cars for Andy Fowler at First City Auto and Dutch Miller Chevrolet, he also enjoyed watching NASCAR racing. Besides his parents he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Gordon Wiley "Jack" Wheeler and Lloyd Glenn Wheeler; three sisters, Elizabeth "Sissy" Owens Ivester, Berneice "Sugar" Bunn and Ima Mae Donahoe Meadows, and several nieces and nephews. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Sandra "Sandee" Craft (Kirby) of Goodyear, Ariz.; three grandchildren, Tami Morgan of Las Vegas, Nev., "Verlin" Daron Morgan of Las Vegas, Nev., and Kevin Kirby Craft of Goodyear, Ariz.; nine great-grandchildren, Jade Morgan, Heather Craft, Holly Craft, Kirby D. ERNIE LEE LYCANS, 68, of Huntington, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, W.Va. He was born September 17, 1945, in Wayne County, W.Va., a son of the late Harkins J. and Alice Fry Lycans. Ernie retired from Columbus Auto Parts in Columbus, Ohio where he lived for 33 years prior to moving back to Huntington in 2002. He was an active member of the United Auto Workers Union and staunch labor union supporter throughout his life. He was a member of the Central Freewill Baptist Church and loved his church and church family. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Violet Lycans Osburn and Freida Lycans Van Gundy. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Brenda Ramey Lycans; a brother Pastor Keith Lycans (Barbara) of Dade City, Fla.; and a very special brother-in-law Bryce Ramey. WEALTHA MAE BLANKENSHIP, 73, of Huntington, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2014, at a local health care facility. The Wayne County native was born March 29, 1941, a daughter to the late Everett and Ethel Clark Maynard. Ms. Blankenship was a former employee of Cabell County Heath Department and homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Glendola Adkins and Katie Clark; and granddaughter, Amanda Codi Black. She is survived by two daughters, Kennya (John) Black of Scottown, Ohio, and Tammy Ross and Raymond Mills of Huntington; son, Harvey (Angie) Blankenship of South Point, Ohio; two brothers, Arlie Maynard and Allen Maynard of Prichard, W.Va.; sister, Dorothy Overby of Wayne; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Georgia was born October 6, 1927, in Whitman, WV to Rufus Jess and Mary Alice (Carver) Bliffen. Georgia was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Edward Isaacs.
