WESLEY JAY JOHNSON, 40, of Fort Gay, WV, passed away Monday, December 1, 2014, at Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky. He was born February 14, 1974 in Louisa, Ky., a son of Ishmael L. Johnson and the late Norma Jean Presley Johnson. He was a laborer for Local 1445 Labors Union and was a member of Church of Christ Jesus Church. In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by his sister, Norma Jean Johnson. Survivors include, his father, Ishmael L. Johnson of Fort Gay, WV.; brother, Ishmael C. Johnson of Fort Gay, WV. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM Thursday, December 4, 2014 at Church of God in Christ Jesus , Fort Gay, WV., with Pastor Joseph Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at the Church of God in Christ Jesus Cemetery, Fort Gay, WV. Visitation will be after 6:00 pm Wednesday at Church of God in Christ Jesus.

LORA EMMA GARTIN WORKMAN, 90, of Kenova, passed away Monday, December 1, 2014 in St. Mary's Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at Rollins Funeral Home with Pastor Greg Page officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Lora was born April 4, 1924 in Wayne Co., a daughter of the late Emmitt Gartin, the late Ida Elliott Finley and her late step-father Zora Finley, Sr. She was a member of the First Independent Missionary Baptist Church and a retired seamstress with Corbin LTD. Besides her parents and step-father she was also preceded in death by her beloved husband Virgil V. Workman; one son Virgil V. Workman, Jr., one daughter Lora Jean Caldwell, one son-in-law Larry Plymale, one grandson Bryan Workman, two sisters Margie Meddings and Louverne Ferguson and three brothers Jay Finley, Brady Finley and Larry Finley. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law Roger (Karen) Workman of Huntington, Randy (Sarah) Workman of Culloden and Jerry (Pam) Workman of Prestonsburg, Ky.; two daughters and one son-in-law Lana Plymale of Kenova and Judy (David) Whitlock of Catlettsburg, Ky.; three sisters Verda Phillips, Oneda Hundley and Betty Messer and two brothers Clark Finley and Zora Finley, Jr.; nine grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. BRADLEY STEPHEN NAPIER, 47, of Wayne, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 1, 2014. Born January 18, 1967 in Huntington, W.Va., Brad was a 1985 graduate of Wayne High School and worked in the concrete business. His mother, Shirley Ann Napier preceded him in death along with his grandparents, Claude and Naomi Bailey. He leaves behind his father, Ron Napier of Wayne; two brothers, Charles "Chuck" Napier and his wife Santana, also of Wayne, and Brian Napier and his wife Jamie of Irving, Ky.; three nieces, Katie, Kayla, and Kacey Napier, and two nephews, Gabriel and Trevian Napier, all whom he loved dearly; and two uncles, Clarence Bailey and his wife Margie, and Darryl Bailey, all of Huntington. Graveside services were conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, December 5, 2014 at the Napier Cemetery, Wayne with Pastor Roger Perry officiating. MARIE DEL HOBBS, 68, of Kenova, passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at her residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:20 A.M. Friday, December 5, 2014 at Maple Hill Cemetery. Marie was born December 14, 1945 in Cabell Co. a daughter of the late James and Lula Hobbs. She was a former cook with Cam’s Ham. Besides her parents she was also preceded in death by four sons. She is survived by one son Timmy Hobbs of Kenova; one brother Jimmy Hobbs of Huntington and two sisters Rosetta Blaine and Deloris Rose both of Huntington. Visitation was 10-11 A.M. DONNA J. STALEY SWINK, 77, of (Summit) Ashland, Ky., passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2014 in KDMC (ICU). She was born March 15, 1937 in Neal, WV., a daughter of the late J. Garrett and Marie E. Brown Staley. Besides her parents she was also preceded in death by her beloved husband Gary Swink and a brother James G. Staley, Jr. Survivors left to cherish her memory are a sister-in-law, Lola G. Staley, Virginia Beach, VA.; nieces, Susan Staley-Yurina (Robert F.) and Jaime Duncan (William) both of Virginia Beach, VA.; nephew, Larry D. Staley (Jennie) of Catlettsburg, Ky.; great-nieces Amanda, Elizabeth, Sarah and Yurina all of Virginia Beach, Va.; great-nephews Wyatt, Elijah and Isaac Staley all of Catlettsburg, Ky. and a special cousin Michael Evans (Hannelore) of Houston, Texas. Donna is also survived by three very special friends, Ruth Ann Meade of Ashland, Ky. and Billie Jean and Ron Queen of Summit, Ky. Donna was a 1955 graduate of Buffalo High School. She was an employee of an Insurance Company until her retirement. She faithfully attended the First Baptist Church of Cannonsburg and loved her worship time with her church family. She also loved the music program and special music events held at First Baptist. Donna also loved sermons from Pastor Stan Williams. Visitation was 12-2:30 P.M. Friday, December 5, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Cannonsburg 11512 Midland Trail Rd. Ashland, Ky. 41102. Funeral services followed at 2:30 P.M. with Pastor Stan Williams officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery Route 75, Kenova, W.Va. immediately following the funeral. PANSY MILLER, 98, of Kenova, WV passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2014 in the Grayson Assisted Living Home. She was born September 9, 1916 in Kenova, WV. a daughter of the late John S. and Zula Faye Plymale Skean. She was a homemaker. Survivors left to cherish her memory are a son Michael Donohoo and two daughters Carolyn McCoy and Sally Johnson. ROBERT LEE ULLOM, 80, of Huntington, W.Va., passed away on December 2, 2014, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. He was born on July 28, 1934, in Logan County, W.Va. He was preceded in death by his mother Marguerite Dillon Collins, step-father Odbert Collins and step-brother Ronald Collins. He was a retired Pharmacist having owned Milton Drug in Milton, W.Va., and Miller Drug in Hurricane, W.Va. He leaves a huge void in the lives of his dear wife of 57 years Charlotte, and daughters Kim Black (Dan) of Dublin, Ohio and Kelley Marshall (BK) of Kenova, W.Va. He also leaves behind a brother Steve Collins (Janet) of Proctorville, Ohio and a sister-in-law Garnet Bryant (Bob) of Ceredo, W.Va. He was blessed to have five grandchildren, Noah and Ian Black, Zach, Austin and Shannon Marshall; and two nephews, Bryan and Matthew Collins. Robert almost always had a smile, loved to joke around and had a strong work ethic. He started delivering prescriptions for Humphrey's Southside Pharmacy when he was nine years old. He spent his life caring for others. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to St. Mary's Medical Center nursing staff and doctors who cared for him so wonderfully and the staff at the hospice house; as well as his special friends at Speedway and his good buddies Cynthia and Jon from St. Mary's Home Health Services. Funeral services will be conducted by his sons-in-law on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 1 p.m. at the Ceredo-Kenova Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Burial will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. DONNA L. KEYSER, 74, of Kenova, WV, passed away Thursday December 4, 2014, at Heartland of Riverview, South Point, OH. Ms. Keyser was born September 22, 1940 in Ashland, KY, a daughter of the late James and Ada Odessa Barnett Spaulding. Donna was a graduate of Fairview High School and worked as a dispatcher for JM Manufacturing. Her hobbies included needlepoint and dollhouse miniatures. She was a member of Gospel Tabernacle. She is survived by her children; Karla Marie Johnson of Kenova, WV, Ada Sheree Keyser of Honolulu, HI, James Michael Keyser of Berea, KY, grandchildren; Carrie Johnson, Heather Johnson, Jocob Johnson, Ashlee Williamson, Andrew Keyser and Emily Keyser. Great grandchildren; Savannah Johnson, Karleigh Johnson, Ryleigh Johnson, Jaxon Johnson, MacKenzie Meyer, Alexandra Meyer, Josie Meyer, Johnny Meyer, and Noah Emerick. Sisters; Sheila Parker of Louisville, KY, Charlotte Spaulding of Ripley, WV, and Diane Raines of Ripley, WV, nephews; Christopher Parker and Ernest Raines, two special cousins; Janelle McCoy and Mitty Green. TERRY DAVID HOLT, 54, of Fort Gay, passed away Thursday, December 4, 2014 at his home. He was born January 22, 1960 in Louisa, Ky. a son of the late Paul T. and Clovia Marie Lemaster Holt. He was a retired Lineman for F&M Power. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Bruce Holt and Claude Holt; sister, Helen Perry. EDMOND RAY WORKMAN, 80, of Kenova, WV, passed away Friday December 5, 2014 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington. Funeral services were conducted at 2 pm Tuesday at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Pastor Janet Mounts. Burial followed in Spring Valley Memory Gardens. He was born February 5, 1934 in Cabell County, WV, a son of the late Clarence and Edna Mae Runyon Workman. He was a retired truck driver. Edmond attended the Pentecostal Truth Ministry Church. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps and was a member of the NRA. Survivors include his wife of 60 years Janice Workman; five sons and daughters in law Terry Lee and Sheila Workman of Ashland, KY, Edmond Ray Workman, Jr. and Qiaoyun Li (Betty) Workman of San Tan Valley, Arizona, Earl Franklin and Velma Rose Workman of Lavalette, Kenneth Dale and Carla Jane Workman of Proctorville and Roger Allen and Angela Workman of Point Pleasant, WV; twelve grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; sister Judy Fry of Huntington and three special friends Barbara Rueger, Sara May and Katie. STELLA N. ADKINS, 88, of Wayne, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 7, 2014 at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, WV. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at Morris Funeral Home chapel with Elders Flem Arrowood, Larry Davis, Glenn Penix, and Ted Asbury officiating. Burial will follow at Community Memorial Gardens, Wayne, WV. She was born on March 8, 1926 in Ferguson, WV to the late Joe Napier and Cynthia Lycans Napier. Stella was a homemaker and a member of Bethel United Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Earl H. Adkins, brothers Ellis and John K. Napier and sister Nora Robinson. Surviving is her daughter Phyllis (Duke) Queen of Wayne, WV, and Donna (Ed) Quinn of Winfield, WV, twin sister Della Boyce of Lavalette, WV; granddaughter Krista (Curtis) Capehart of Winfield; twin great granddaughters Gwyneth and Ainslee. JOHN MARK FRAZIER JR., 40, of Huntington, WV, passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2014 in Huntington, WV. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, with Pastor Rodney Hale officiating. Burial will follow at A.J. Frazier Cemetery, Lick Creek, WV. John was born March 12, 1974 in Huntington, WV, the son of the late John Mark Frazier and Pamela Stokes Frazier. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents Taylor & Martha Frazier and Uncle Taylor Frazier, Jr. Surviving are his sons Jonathan Kaine Frazier, Jason Micajah Frazier and Jacob T. Frazier all of Kentucky, grandson Noah Gilbert Frazier, granddaughter BrettLynn Rayne Frazier, and former spouse Christina D. Payton. Friends may visit from 11:00 until service time on Thursday.

WILLIAM "BILLY" LEE MOORE, 60 of Kenova, WV passed away at UK in Lexington, KY on December 7, 2014. He was born on January 10, 1954 in Ashland, KY; the son of James Moore and Billo McSorley. He was preceded in death by his father. He leaves behind to mourn his loss his wife Bonita Mae (Duvall) Moore, his thee daughters and two sons, his mother Billow, his seven sisters and his thee brothers and 10 grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted on Monday, December 15, 2014 at noon at the Ceredo-Kenova Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Pastor Rodney Dishman officiating with visitation one hour prior. EDITH VIRGINIA WOLFE, 98, of Kenova, W.Va., died Sunday December 7, 2014, at Heritage Center. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, December 10, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Chapman's Mortuary with the Rev. Thom Malcom officiating. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. Edith was born September 6, 1916, in Mason County, W.Va., a daughter of the late James and Mina Reed. She was a member of the Mount Union United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband George Harry "Pete" Wolfe, a granddaughter Shera Wolfe, a great-grandson Colten Adams, and several brothers and sisters. Survivors include two daughters, Nina and Wetzel Perdue of Huntington, Sharon and Stan Lambert of Kenova with whom she made her home; three sons, Dick and Judy Wolfe of Charlotte, N.C., George and Joy Wolfe of Chesapeake, Ohio and J.D. and Millie Wolfe of Huntington; one sister Edna Grimm of New Haven, W.Va.; nine grandchildren, Rich Wolfe, Chris Wolfe, Matt Wolfe, Lisa Ashworth, Dwayne Jordan, Doug Perdue, Heather Sawyers, Justin Jordan and Hollie Henry; 19 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. JEWELL ROSE HERALD WILLIAMSON, 86, of Crum, passed away Sun., December 7, 2014, St. Vincent’s Medical Center Middleburg, Fla. Born Sept. 16, 1928, in Wayne County, W.Va., she was daughter of the late Samuel and Ollie Corns Herald. Jewell was also preceded in death by her husband, Carter Williamson, August 2014, and two brothers, David Herald of Prichard, and Clarence Herald of Jacksonville, Fla. Jewell is survived by three loving daughters, Lynda Asbury of Prichard, Katherine (Denny) Miller of Man, and Margie (Marty) Dowling of Middleburg, Fla.; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Grace Williamson of Prichard and Mary Williamson of Kenova; brothers, Jennings Herald of Charleston and Clyde Herald of Kingston, N.C., and Roy Herald and Johnny Herald, both of Prichard, and many nieces and nephews that she adored. Jewell received both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from Marshall University. She was a teacher and principal Logan County Board of Education and retired from the Mingo County Board of Education as the Principal of Marrowbone Creek Elementary. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Sun., Dec. 14, at Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home in Warfield, Ky. Burial will follow in the Herald Corns Cemetery on Jennies Creek Road. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home. Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home in Warfield, Ky., is in charge of arrangements.

CHARLES MICKEL SALMONS, "CHARLIE," 43, of Crum, W.Va., passed away on Monday, December 8, 2014, at Dunlow, W.Va. Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, December 12, 2014, at Fairmount United Baptist Church, Dunlow with Jason and Jess Salmons officiating. Burial will follow in the Browning Cemetery, Tick Ridge. Charlie was born November 23, 1971, in Fort Stewart, Ga., to Mike and Sharon Salmons of Crum, W.Va. He was preceded in death by grandparents Charley and Marie Marcum. In addition to his parents, he is survived by grandparents Jesse and Daisy Salmons of Dunlow W.Va.; three brothers, Greg Mullens (Christy) of Ashville Ohio, William Blankenship Jr. (Lori) of Moxahala, Ohio, Jason Salmons (Amy) of Salt Rock, W.Va.; seven nephews, one niece, two great-nephews and one great-niece. Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Thursday at Fairmount United Baptist Church, Dunlow. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Morris Funeral Home, Wayne.

DAISY MARIE DAMRON, 97, of Wayne, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 8, 2014, at her residence. She was born December 30, 1916, in Wayne County, a daughter of the late Jarrett Franklin "Jay" and Myrtle Dean Damron. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by an infant brother, Lace Edward Damron, sisters Opal Ama Damron Napier and Ruth June Damron Chapman, a brother Jay Glen Damron, and a nephew David Chapman. Daisy was a homemaker and member of the Wayne Baptist Church since 1927, where she attended faithfully. Survivors include a brother-in-law Joseph F. Chapman of Lavalette, W.Va.; nieces Ama Napier of Wayne, Judy Webb and husband Rodney of Lavalette, W.Va., Patty Blankenship and husband Raymond of Wayne, W.Va., who were her caregivers for many years, Glenna Wellman and husband Richard of Huntington, W.Va., and Kathy Sanders and husband Don of Lavalette, W.Va.; special cousins Bobbie Queen, Ernestine Rutherford and Dottie Dyer, all of Wayne, W.Va.; special neighbor and friend Marjorie Sexton of Wayne and a host of friends who will miss her very much. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, December 12, 2014, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, W.Va., with Pastor Fred Ferguson officiating. MALCOLM DOUGLAS PARSONS, 57, of East Lynn, W.Va., went to be with the lord December 11, 2014 at his residence. He was born May 27, 1957 in Huntington, WV., a son of Barbara Ellen Dean of East Lynn, and the late Alvis Glenn Parsons. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Parsons; a nephew, Charles Parsons; and a grandmother, Mary Davis. Malchom worked in construction as a drywall laborer. In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife, Janet, of East Lynn; two sons, Malcolm Douglas Parsons II (Brenda) of Columbus, Oh., and Jeff Parsons (Alisha) of East Lynn; a daughter, Krissy Parsons (David) of East Lynn; and one brother, Keith Fortner (Garnet) of East Lynn; and a host of friends of family too numerous to mention. Funeral Services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Parsons’ Cemetery in East Lynn. GLEN PERRY, 77, of Huntington, husband of Betty Bowe Perry, died Thursday, December 11, 2014 in the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 noon Monday, December 15, 2014 at Chapman’s Mortuary, with Pastor Jimmy Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Huntington. He was born July 21, 1937, in Wayne County, WV, a son of the late James and Lydia Hammond Perry. In addition to his parents, two daughters, Teresa and Missy, four sisters, Ethel Dial, Helen McKinney, Betty Tillers and Alma Walker; three brothers Norman Perry, Edgar Perry and James Perry preceded him in death. He was a laborer and attended Trinity Chapel Church. Additional survivors include: one son, Alan Perry of Huntington; one sister, Annie Meadows of Huntington; one brother, Herman Perry of Lavalette; 5 grandchildren, Lisa Morrison, Brittany Tolley, Robert Perryman, Tiffiny Perry and Haley Scarberry; and a host of nieces and nephews. ALFIE LEON SMITH, 90 of Huntington, passed away Thursday, December 11, 2014, at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington. He was born May 16, 1924, in Wayne County, a son of the late Roy and Margaret Mayo Smith. Alfie was a member of the Westmoreland United Methodist Church. He retired from the U.S. Army and served during World War II. He also served six years with the U.S. Navy. Alfie was a member of American Legion Post 93 Kenova, whose Honor Guard will conduct graveside rites. He was also a member of Crescent Masonic Lodge #32 AF & AM Ceredo. In addition to his years of service, he was a shipping clerk and retired from Harvey Hubbell Company. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Ruth Alexander and JoAnn Hobbs; and one brother, O.B. Smith. Alfie is survived by his beloved wife, Nannie Morrison Smith; one son, John F. Smith of Virginia Beach, Va.; one daughter, Marilyn L. Graves of Huntington; one granddaughter, Brannon Smith of Virginia Beach, Va.; one grandson, Ryan Graves of Huntington; two great-granddaughters, Bailey and Josie Graves, both of Barboursville; and one brother, Harold Smith in Spain. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 16, 2014, at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. with Pastor Tom Nolan officiating. WAYNE MATHIS, 80, of Wheelersburg, OH, passed away Friday, December 12, 2014 at SOMC Hospice Center in Portsmouth, OH. Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 15, 2014 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, WV, with Elders Tommy Damron, Tony Clay and Roger Maynard officiating. Burial followed at the Thompson Cemetery at Genoa, WV. He was born January 7, 1934 at Dunlow, WV, a son of the late Charlie and Hester Wallace Mathis. He was a retired brakeman and conductor for the Norfolk-Southern Railroad. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict, and was a member of the Echo United Baptist Church. His brothers, Taylor Mathis, Leonard Mathis and Arley Mathis, and a grandson, Christopher Shane Mathis, also preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Thompson Mathis; two daughters, Karen Sue Pelphrey (Randy), and Marsha Pertuset (Jim), all of Portsmouth, Ohio; a son, Phillip Wayne Mathis (Cathy), also of Portsmouth; a sister, Emma Osborne (Carl) of Lavalette, WV; a brother, Charlie "Peanut" Mathis (Erma) of Wayne, WV; seven grandchildren, Taya Mathis, Jeremy Mathis (Elizabeth), Travis Little (Marcy), Nathan Little (Diane), Mason Pelphrey, Darren Pertuset (Kristin), and Courtney Redoutcy and three great-grandchildren, Emileigh, J.R., and Ison. BARBARA LENA HAYNIE, 85, of Kenova, WV, loving mom and grandmother, passed away Sunday December 14, 2014 at Heartland of Riverview, South Point, Ohio. She was born August 22, 1929 in Omar, WV, a daughter of the late Havana Cuba and Leona Vicars Webb. She was a beautician and a member of the Poplar St. Church of God. WANDA L. WOITSCHECK passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2014. She was 81. Born in Wayne County, West Virginia she was a long time resident of Glen Rock, N.J., before moving to North Palm Beach, Fla. Wanda was an assistant controller at National Concrete Masonry Association and the Washington Redskins Touchdown Club, both in Washington, D.C. When residing in Glen Rock, she was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Wanda enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, family and traveling. Wanda was predeceased in death by her brothers Homer, James, Carl, Curtis, Robert and her sisters Vivian Shupe, and Virginia Hutchison. Survivors include her loving husband of 40 years Frederick C. Woitscheck; three step-children, Robin L. Spano and her husband Donald, Mark C. Woitscheck and Steven C. Woitscheck; two grandchildren, Nicholas Charles and Haley Erika. RACHEL ANN STILTNER, 46, of Huntington, W.Va., passed away Monday, December 15, 2014. She was born December 7, 1968 in Cleveland, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her uncle "Pudge" Stiltner. Rachel was the daughter of Charles Stiltner of East Lynn, W.Va., and Phyllis (Warren) Bryant of Florida; the sister of Lizette White and Logan Bryant, both of Florida, and Susie Faye Stiltner. He was born February 13, 1917 in Wayne County, WV. a son of the late George Hamilton and Rosella Prince Spence. Don was a member of the Locust Grove Baptist Church and the former owner of the Spence Lumber Company. Don was also a veteran having served in the U.S. Army during WW II. Besides his parents he was also preceded in death by his beloved wife Betty Louise Wellman Spence; one sister Elizabeth Cummings and five brothers John Q., Wilmer H., Minvel R., Charles and Richard Spence. WILLIAM FRANKLIN "FRANK" TOPPING was born in his grandfather's log house at Bowen, W.Va., in Wayne County, W.Va. At age 88 he went home to meet his Lord on Wednesday, December 17, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Betty. Their love for each other shined in sickness and in health. Frank was the son of the late Ott Topping and Marie Bowen Topping and brother to the late Helen Parsons. Left to mourn and honor his memory are his three children, Roger and Becky Topping of Princeton, W.Va., Marsha and Jim Ingels of Mooresville, Ind., and David Topping of Huntington, W.Va; four beautiful granddaughters whom he adored, Karrie and David Bias of Logan, Ohio, Kristene and Eric McCoy of Pataskala, Ohio, Holly and Rodney Adkins of Barboursville, W.Va., and Kimberly and Scott Carlisle of Mooresville, Ind.; seven great-grandchildren, who gave Papa Frank such joy, Emily and Kelsey McCoy, Michael Nibert, Tyler Morris, Abby and ally Bias and Kayla Carlisle. Frank's friends played a huge role in his life, the Templeton Family, and his best friend and buddy J.D. Johnson and wife Carolyn. Frank felt a special love from the congregation at Cross Roads United Methodist Church where he held many offices. He loved to sing and felt blessed to be part of the Chancel Choir. Frank enjoyed singing beside his friend Richard Hicks. Frank was a firefighter for the City of Huntington. He was last stationed at #10 Gallaher Street as a Captain. He loved his job and the relationships he had with good friends, George Keeler, Whitey Barr, and P.J. Jordan. After a freak accident, Frank retired from the fire department in 1971 and after a year recuperating entered Marshall University and earned two degrees. Frank also worked for the State of West Virginia as an inspector for the West Virginia Health Department. He later became a nursing home administratorand worked at Wayne Continuous Care Center, Point Pleasant Manor and retired from Presbyterian Manor in Huntington. Frank was 32nd Degree Mason with Western Star Lodge#11 in Guyandotte. Frank also served his country during WWII stationed in Alaska. Frank loved the outdoors. He loved being on his pontoon at Beach Fork. Frank will be remembered most for his smile and quiet nature. His integrity and devotion to his family will be felt and missed, but never forgotten. LINDA KAY WILSON, 68, of Catlettsburg, Ky. passed away Thursday, December 18, 2014 in the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Russell Wilson. GLEN ROGER CHAFFINS, 73, of Ceredo, passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at his home. He was born July 13, 1941 in Kenova, a son of the late Miles and Mary Blevins Chaffins. Roger retired from Appalachian Power after many years of service. He served in the US Navy on the USS Eaton during the Bay of Pigs. He was a member of American Legion Post #93 Kenova, whose Honor Guard will conduct military graveside rites. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Marie Howell Chaffins. Roger was an avid C-K sports fan. He coached Buddy League Basketball, C-K Youth Football, Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball for many years. ELIJAH RONALD ASBURY, 73, of Kermit, WV, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, December 19, 2014. He was born January 10, 1941 to parents Curtis and Millie Asbury of Dunlow, WV. He graduated Crum High School in 1958 then pursued a Bachelor of Arts at Marshall University. In 1962, he began his teaching career at Ceredo Kenova High School where he coached Jr. High football. Several years later, he taught at Crum High School where he eventually became Assistant Principal. In addition to teaching, he worked as a car salesman at Price Motors in Williamson. In 1965, he proudly opened Kermit Western Auto in Kermit, WV where he later retired. An active member of the Fairmount Church, he served as a Deacon for approximately twenty years. Community involvement and improvement projects were always a passion of his. He is survived by his adoring wife, Doris, of fifty-five years; two doting daughters, Rhonda Clovis and husband Matt, Melissa Cagigas, and son Jimmy; three grandchildren, Sarah Blackburn and husband Jeff, Rachel Doss and husband Todd, and John Cagigas; as well as one great- grandson, Wade Blackburn. Funeral services were conducted at 11AM Sunday, December 21, 2014 at Fairmount Church in Dunlow, WV by Elders Emanuel Ferguson, Gid Marcum, Jesse Allen, and Bobby Perry with graveside rites at the Asbury Cemetery. PAULINE SHINGLETON LYKINS, August 9, 1929 – December 19, 2014. On December 19, at the age of 85, Pauline Shingleton Lykins was taken home to be with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald M. Lykins. She is survived by her devoted daughters, Marcia Ann (Mrs. Michael G. Mancini) and Cozette (Mrs. Donald L. Mobelini); five loving grandchildren, Christopher J. Mancini, Marcus G. Mancini, Ashley C. Marana, Donald L. Mobelini and Belinda J. Pauline was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kenova, where she was an active member of the Joy Class. She was a graduate of Ceredo-Kenova High School and attended Marshall University. Pauline had spent years of employment with the West Virginia State Road, Sun Oil Company and retired from Ashland Oil in 1984. Pauline's life was full of love, both given and received, a nurturer and caregiver, a faith-filled woman of service and a blessing to all who knew her. She will be deeply missed. Retired Master Sergeant CLINTON "CHET" ADKINS was called home on Monday December 22, 2014. Born April 20th 1938 to Julian and Ada Pearl Adkins, Clinton joined the Army at the young age of seventeen. He served his country for 25 years and completed a tour of duty in Vietnam with M Co. 3rd Squadron 11th Armored Division. He earned some of the nation’s highest honors for gallantry and valor including the Soldier’s Medal, the Silver Star, the Bronze Star, as well as the Vietnam Service Medal with four stars and three Purple Hearts. Clinton cherished his family and is survived by, Phyllis, his loving wife of 55 years, and his four children Clarissa, Tony, Mary, and Brad. He had ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, two brothers, and one sister. Clinton was known for his selflessness, his wit, and his never ending determination. He was a loving husband, a fantastic father, and the best friend anyone could have. In lieu of flowers the family, in honor of Clinton’s devotion to his country and his family, asks that any donations be made payable to the Children of Fallen Soldier’s Relief Fund. She and "Tippy" raised three sons and never missed a C-K High School football, basketball, or baseball game in which they played. She loved Marshall University Thundering Herd football. For many years she served as the Secretary of the American Legion Post 93 in Kenova. A humble woman who had kind words for everyone, she loved her family and was always helping and serving others. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Clifford "Tippy" Staten. She is survived in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Garry Lee and Marsha Lanham of Olmstead Falls, Ohio, and her three sons and two daughter-in-laws: Dr. Clifford Lee and Shannon Staten of New Albany, Ind.; Tony Ervin Staten of Superior, Wis.; and Jack Keith and Sherry Staten of Superior, Wis. She is survived by 11 grandchildren: Josh, Ryan, and Anna Staten; Glenn Kennedy; Shellie Kay Staten; Juan Staten; Hope and Alex Staten; Brittnee and Katie Urbaniak; and Marissa Running. Juanita was a school teacher, teaching 20 years in Wayne County and ten years in Florida. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Carlton Brumfield and six brothers Mosser, Harold, Odell, Neil, Frield and Denver Maynard and nephew Jerry Maynard. HELEN "SUE" BIAS, 66, of Genoa, W.Va., widow of Robert A. "Bob" Bias, passed away Friday, December 26, 2014, in St. Mary's Medical Center. She was born May 15, 1948, in Huntington, a daughter of the late Ernest E. and Betty I. Baker Lucas. Her daughter, Tracy Lynn Bias, also preceded her in death. She was born August 30, 1924 in Wayne, a daughter of the late Pearl and Rhoda Robinson Copley. Her husband Orbie Scott also preceded her in death along with one daughter, Wilma Jean; brothers, Pearley "Shorty" Copley, Jr., James "Jim" Copley, and Brady "Toby" Copley; and sisters Betty Jean Copley, Martha Copley Williams, and Sissy Copley Wells. Birdie loved canning, cooking, gardening, and especially playing with her grandkids. She worked at Nylon Sponge in Cleveland, Ohio for many years. Joan was a loving mother and grandmother, who enjoyed nothing more than watching her grandchildren play softball or baseball on a sunny summers day or basketball on a chilly winters night. She devoted her love, patience, and most importantly her heart to every child and staff member that walked through the door. Joan's compassion, love, and "no nonsense" demeanor, positively impacted all who knew her - whether at home or work. She graduated from Huntington East High School in 1968 and Marshall University with a bachelor of liberal arts degree. She was preceded in death by a sister, Eloise Thompson, and a very special son Matthew Ryan "Snake" Sansom. She faithfully served the Lord all of her life and was an active member of first Baptist Church of Ceredo for the last three decades. She was always smiling, generous, servant-hearted, and kind to everyone she met. She was a very loving wife, mom, memaw, and friend, who will be greatly missed by everyone. Esther loved to travel, having visited all fifty states, the Virgin Islands, Canada, Mexico, Japan, and China. EVERETT ADKINS, 81 of Kenova, W.Va., passed away on December 30, 2014, at Cabell Huntington Hospital. He was born on May 6, 1933, in Lackeyville, Ky., a son of Herbert Adkins and Sadie Lucille Varney. Everett was married to the love of his life Ermalene for 63 years. He honorably served his beloved country during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Army. He was a carpenter in the Carpenter's Local 302. BILLY "DARRELL" MAYNARD, 84, of Lost Creek, W.Va., passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2014, at Cornerstone Hospital, in Huntington, W.Va. He will be remembered for his wit and storytelling and his love of family. He loved the outdoors and spending summers traveling to the beach and working on his property. She was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Lois Blankenship and Audrey Adkins. Survivors include her husband Chad Runyon; her precious daughter Gabriella Lachai Skye Runyon; her parents, Edward and Janet Blankenship; her brother Kyle (Ashley) Blankenship; paternal grandfather Ardrey "Bo" Blankenship, all of Wayne; maternal grandfather John Adkins of Huntington; one nephew Brayden Blankenship; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Sheila and Bruce Runyon; and a host of special friends and family too numerous to mention. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, January 4, 2015 at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home with Pastor Aaron Adams officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Linda Thompson Goodman, 72, Bradenton, died November 19, 2014. Born in Louisville, Kentucky, and raised in Wayne County, West Virginia, she moved to Bradenton in 1963 when her husband of 48 1/2 years, James A. Goodman, accepted a job with Tropicana. After 36 years as a classroom teacher in Manatee County, Linda retired in 2000. A Teacher-of-the-Year nominee, Linda taught at Walker Jr. High School, Bradenton Middle School, and Braden River Middle School throughout her career. She attended Bayshore Baptist Church, in Bradenton, since July 1964 and was a Sunday School teacher and choir member for many years. During her years at Bayshore, she also served as director of the women’s group and youth director at various times. Linda graduated from Ceredo-Kenova High School in Ceredo, WV, and Marshall University in Huntington, WV, where she earned a degree in Secondary English Education. She is survived by her daughter, Cyndee Goodman Cheri, of Myakka City, FL; son, Todd Marshall Goodman (Katie) of Sarasota, FL; stepson James Arnold Goodman, Jr. (Betty) of Melbourne, FL; and four grandchildren, Nicolas, Madison, Claire, and Jack. Memorial Service was 4:00 P.M., Sunday December 7, 2014 at Bayshore Baptist Church located at 6502 14th Street West, Bradenton, FL, 34207.
