KENNETH RAY HILL, 61, of Kenova, W.Va., passed away on July 1, 2016, at St. Mary's Medical Center. He was born on April 2, 1955, a son of the late Marvin Hill and Jo Ann Newton. He was preceded in death by his brother Randy Hill, and a nephew Adam Selman. Kenneth leaves behind to mourn his loss his second mom, Connie Staley; his former wife and friend, Anna Ilene Hill; his children Leanna Chapman (Homer), Joanna Hill (Paul) and Jennifer Hill; his siblings Patty Selman (Rex), Debbie McKnight (Mack) and Tony Hill (Phyllis). Also surviving are his grandkids Haley Hill, Candace Chapman, Ian Chapman and Chloe Wiseman; his nieces and nephews Josh, Christi, Daulton, Rebecca and James; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. Kenneth proudly served his country as a Special Forces Green Beret in the U.S. Army. American Legion Post 93 in Kenova and the U.S. Army will be performing military rites. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at Ceredo-Kenova Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Funeral services for Kenneth will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 7, 2016, at Ceredo-Kenova Funeral Home & Cremation Services, with Pastor Tim Jayne officiating. CARL EDWARD ADKINS, 83 of Wellston, Ohio, passed away on Friday, July 1, 2016 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 7, 2016, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne with Pastor Fred Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Wayne, W.Va. Carl was born on June 18, 1933, in East Lynn, W.Va., to the late Shirley Adkins and Nellie Watts Adkins. He retired from Whirlpool, Inc., after 35 years of service. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother Otis Adkins and a sister Ella Pierce, and two infant brothers. Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Roberta Nelson Adkins; a son Robert "Ed" Adkins and wife Linda of Green Camp, Ohio; a sister Shirley Ann Adkins and half-sister Darlene Finley both of Sabina, Ohio; and a grandson Ronald Adkins and wife Tonda of Kenton, Ohio. Carl is also survived by two great-grandchildren and four great- great-grandchildren, special friends Doug and Jewel Pemberton and Randy and Bonnie Byus. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the charity of their choice. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, W.Va.

MELISSA DAWN STANLEY, 40, of East Lynn, W.Va., passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 1, 2016. She was born November 24, 1975, the beloved daughter of the late Charles Albert Porter of East Lynn, W.Va., and Priscilla Ann Mosher of Roma, Texas. Also preceding her in death were paternal grandparents, Alberta and Norma Porter; maternal grandparents, Alonzo and Odilia Munguia. Survivors include two cherished daughters, Emilee Noelle Stanley and Olivia June Stanley; one sister, Leanna Porter; brother-in-law, Timothy Wiley, all of East Lynn; and many aunts, uncles, close friends and family. Melissa was truly the best of people. To know her was to feel the purest form of love, unjudged, only accepted. She was a beautiful, smart, honest, caring and empathetic soul. Easily loved as she always seized any opportunity to smile and bring her light and laughter to those fortunate enough to know her. Melissa always was the very best and devoted daughter, mother, sister, friend, or companion. For every bond she formed was genuine and lasting. However, it was the eternal bond of motherhood that her light shined brightest. It always brought out the best in her, as her children are the best of her. How blessed we were to witness and be touched by such a miracle of life. It was a privilege to know and be known by a woman so beautiful. One so loved, she could never be forgotten, only missed every moment. Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 7, 2016 at the Jones Cemetery. ROBERT LOUIS STEPHENS, 54, of Wayne, WV, died Friday, July 1, 2016 at his Cabell Huntington Hospital. Funeral services were conducted 11:00 am Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Fred Ferguson and Brother Rick Perdue. Burial followed at Stephens Cemetery, Wayne, WV. He was born September 7, 1961 in Circleville, OH, a son of the late Pearley Jack Stephens and Lucille Ford Stephens. Rob was a department manager for Wal-Mart. He was a 1979 Wayne High School Graduate and was the announcer at the Wayne Little League football games for many years. His grandparents, Pearley and Mary Stephens also preceded him in death, along with his father-in-law, Bob Tomblin. Survivors include his loving wife of 35 years, Benita Tomblin Stephens; a daughter, Erica Stephens (Derek Grace) of Wayne, WV; a son, Warren Stephens of Fayetteville, NC; sisters, Paula Hatton of Vancouver, WA, Shelia Kohlmeyer (Tim) of Colorado, Patricia Fletcher of Georgetown, OH, Donna Kay Tumbleson (Larry) of Felicity, OH, Catherine Stamm of Columbus, Ohio ; two brothers, Ron Stephens (Emy) of Vancouver, WA, Pearley Mike Stephens of St. Louis, MO, several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Visitation was held one hour prior to services on Tuesday at Morris Funeral Home, Wayne, WV.

MARVIN ROGER ADKINS, 77 of Wayne, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 2, 2016, at Midland Meadows Senior Living Facility. He is preceded in death by his parents, Wetzel and Inez Adkins; and brother, Carroll Adkins. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Roberta Edwards Adkins; his four children, Elaine (Ron) Martino of Proctorville, Kent (Pam) Adkins of Columbus, Ohio, Beth (Shawn) Cade of Wayne and Virginia (Brandon) Bunn of Hurricane, W.Va.; two grandsons, Ethan and Cameron Cade of Wayne; his brother, Richard (Gladys) Adkins of Lavalette, W.Va.; one sister-in-law, Ernestine Adkins of Huntington; and nephews, Howard Adkins, Duane Adkins and Vernon Adkins. Marvin grew up in Booton, W.Va., where he turned down a baseball scholarship at Marshall University to work in the family business, Wetzel Adkins Grocery, until 1972 when the Beech Fork Lake project acquired the land. He drove a bus and then went in business for himself: trucking, real estate and farming. He was a member of the Wayne Church of Christ and deacon for many years. He was an avid outdoorsmen, a Cincinnati Reds/Bengals fan and a proud supporter of the Wayne Pioneers. He was a wonderful husband, father and friend. He will be greatly missed. While the family welcomes flowers, they ask that donations be made to Hospice of Huntington and The Alzheimer’s Asociation. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home with Dr. Ron Martino and Ministers Ronnie Ross and Mike Smith officiating. MARIETTA MAYO, 66, of Eureka Springs, Ark., formerly of Ceredo, WV, passed away on July 2, 2016. Wife of Larry Mayo. She was born on January 28, 1950 in Louisa, KY; a daughter of Marvin Reynolds and Magdalene Smith. Marietta was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Dean Smith. She leaves behind to mourn her loss her husband, Larry Franklin Mayo; her children, Jennifer Pratt (Victor), Michelle Watts (Joy), James Mayo (Brandy) and Tracy Mayo; and her 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Funeral Services were conducted on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. at Ceredo- Kenova Funeral Home with Pastor John McSweeney officiating with visitation from 12 to 1:30 p.m. Burial followed at Docks Creek Cemetery. MISTY FRAZIER - On the afternoon of July 3, 2016 at Cabell-Huntington Hospital surrounded by her loving husband Larry Frazier and family Misty Rena Frazier left this world of pain and suffering to be with her heavenly father. She was born February 24, 1973 in Ironton, Ohio a daughter of Paul and Brenda Collins of Ironton, Ohio. Misty was a 1992 graduate of Ironton High School. She was preceded in death by two sons Larry Paul Frazier and Jeremy Paul Chatfield. Besides her husband and parents she is also survived by one sister Kathy Rust; nephews Troy Rust, Jaimie Blevins and Bryan Frazier; nieces Molly Rust, Versie Fannin, Heather Frazier and Lisa Griffith; brother-in- aw Karl Rust; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Richard and Donna Frazier; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Phyllis and Everett Hardy and a host of other family members and friends. Visitation was from 6-8 P.M. Thursday, July 7, 2016 at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova, WV. Funeral service was conducted 11:00 A.M. BEULAH QUERTERMOUS SUTHERLAND, 69, of Kenova, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2016, in Cabell Huntington Hospital. She was born April 28, 1947, in Cabin Creek, W.Va., a daughter of the late Delbert and Lucille Webb Vealey. Beulah was employed at the Griffith & Feil Soda Fountain and was a secretary at the private terminal at the Tri-State Airport. Besides her parents she was also preceded in death by her beloved husband John Raymond Sutherland. She is survived by two sons, John M. Sutherland and Mark A. Sutherland ; two grandchildren, Eric Reese Sutherland and Kailey Brooke Sutherland; two sisters, Brenda Akers, Laverne Wageman; two brothers, Butch Vealey and Danny Vealey and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Friday, July 8, 2016, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova. Funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m. following visitation with Pastor Scott Byard officiating. RONALD PAUL CASTLE, 80, of Ceredo, W.Va., passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, W.Va. He was born March 23, 1936, in Lookout, Ky., a son of the late Roy and Lena Graham Castle. In addition to his parents Ron was also preceded in death by a daughter, Paula Stewart; one grandson and his wife, Brent and Julia Robinson; and two brothers, Robert and James Castle. Ron was a member of First Baptist Ceredo where he had served as a deacon, the Sunday school director and sang in the choir. He retired from Sequoia, where he had worked as a salesman. He was on the Board of Directors for the Good Samaritan Center in Kenova. He was also a member of the Singing Kernals of Ashland, Ky. This allowed him to pursue his passion for barbershop music. Ron loved his God, his family and his friends and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sara Lee Keyser Castle; one daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda Lee and Don Robinson; his grandson, Bradley Robinson all of Bradenton, Fla.; his granddaughter and her husband, Sara Beth and Bryan Blankenship of Proctorville, Ohio; and one brother and his wife, Tommy and Susie Castle of Huntington. The family would like to express their thanks to all of the family and friends who have helped with Ron's care over the past few months. They also want to acknowledge the staff of the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House for the wonderful care they received. Visitation will be Friday, July 8, 2016 from 10 a.m. to noon at First Baptist Ceredo. Funeral services will begin immediately following the visitation at noon with Rev. Rodney Hale officiating. FRANKLIN (FRANK) FLUTY, 69, of Louisa, Kentucky passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Three Rivers Medical Center in Louisa, Kentucky. He was born on June 29, 1947 in Wayne County, West Virginia to the late Lee and Georgia Fluty. Frank is survived by his wife, Maxine Arzt Fluty and five siblings, Richard Lee (Ruth) Fluty of Lovely, Kentucky, Joe (Sara) Flute of Louisa, Kentucky, Patricia Daniels of Tennessee, Clifford Fluty and Mary Lou Mollett both of Fluty Lick, Kentucky. Funeral services were held at the Richmond- allaham Funeral Home in Inez, Kentucky on Friday, July 8, 2016 at 1:00 pm with Maurice Mills. Burial followed at the Fluty Lick Cemetery in Louisa, Kentucky. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday, July 7, 2016 from 6:00-9:00pm with Masonic rites at 7:00pm. Arrangements are under the direction of the Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home, Inez, Kentucky.

LAWRENCE HAMMOND, 84, of Wayne, passed away Friday, July 8, 2016. He was born March 29, 1932, in Cabell County, a son of the late Leonard and Rozella Brinegar Hammond. He is also preceded in death by his wife Clara Davidson Hammond; four sisters, Gracie Adkins, Deanna Adkins, Millie Hammond and Sharon Lynn Hammond and three brothers, Leo, Steve and Paris Hammond. He is survived by three daughters, Rozella (Aaron) Brooks, Jean Jenkins and Kemberly (Melvin) Brewer; four sons, Lawrence (Becky) Hammond Jr., Leonard (Jeri) Hammond, Mark (Jeannie) Hammond and Matt (Kori Studer) Hammond; five sisters, Roslee Adkins, Verna Johnson, Thelma Eaves, Spicie Ferrell and Pam Dillman; one brother, Braxton Hammond and 17 grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Monday at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Rev. Heron Adkins. Burial will be in Hammond Cemetery. TENNIS "TIM" WALLACE, age 48, of Fort Gay, WV passed away Friday, July 8, 2016 at his home. Mr. Wallace was born July 29, 1967 in Cabell Co., WV to the late Boyd Newman and Virgie Lee (Watts) Wallace. He leaves behind his wife of 18 years Diane (Robertson) Wallace, two daughters: Tina Jervis of Fort Gay, WV and Amanda Thompson of Crum, WV and two sons: Tennis Newman Wallace and Richard Bo Wallace both of Fort Gay, WV, two granddaughters Danielle Amanda Jervis and Alexis Diane Jervis, two sisters, Betty Reed and Christine Thornhill both of Fort Gay, WV, and two special nieces, Priscilla and Rosa. He was a disabled sawmill worker. The funeral service was held on Monday at 2:00 at Wilson Funeral Home with Revs. Herman Dingess and Noah Robertson officiating. Burial followed in Spruce Creek Cemetery; friends called from 11:00 until the time of services. Care has been entrusted to Wilson Funeral Home. BRYAN KEITH DEFOE JR., 34, of Lavalette, father of Bryan and Ethan Defoe, died July 8, 2016 in Huntington. He was a former cook. Funeral services will be private for family only. There will be no visitation. Reger Funeral Home is in charge of services.

REDITH MAYNARD, 88 of Huntington, WV, died Friday, July 8, 2016 at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel by Brother Dolphus Perry. Burial will follow at Vaughn Cemetery, East Lynn, WV. She was born April 28, 1928 in Branchland, WV, a daughter of Millard Vance and Susie Watts Vance. Redith worked in housekeeping at Huntington Hospital and was a member of Prichard United Baptist Church. A son, Allen Glen Maynard also preceded her in death, along with a sister, Ruth Spence and three brothers, Alvin Vance, Millard Vance, Jr., and Ivan Vance. Survivors include two sons, John Maynard of Huntington, WV, Charles R. Maynard of Marine City, MI. Friends may call one hour prior to services Wednesday at Morris Funeral Home, Wayne.

BILLY ALLEN LEMASTER, 75, of Huntington, W.Va., went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, July 9, 2016. Bill was born on October 20, 1940, in Huntington, West Virginia to the late Stanley and Eilene LeMaster. Bill was a charter member of Spring Valley Freedom Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Trustee, Sunday School Nursery teacher, and the AWANA Game Director. He retired after 31 years at Huntington Inco Alloys. On May 14, 1960, he married the love of his life and best friend, Alice Adams LeMaster who survives him. They were blessed with three children who survive, Gina Greene, Billy Allen (Lisa) LeMaster II, and Nikki (Charley) Wood. He also leaves behind six grandchildren, Joshua (Erin) Greene, Ciara LeMaster, Nicholas (Jessica) Greene, Katie (Chris) Heck, Christopher (Haley) LeMaster and Jacob Wood; and two great-granddaughters, Dakota Greene and Mila Myles. His love for Christ was daily demonstrated in the love, kindness, compassion and devotion he bestowed upon his wife and family. He was an incredible role model and his example will live on in all who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2016, at Spring Valley Freedom Baptist Church in Huntington with Pastor Patrick Elliott officiating. Interment will be in Spring Valley Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at the church and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Too perfect for this world, EZRA KIAN ELLIOTT, beloved infant son of Erica Blankenship and Aaron Elliott, passed to a better place on July 9, 2016. Born on July 9, 2016 at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Ezra blessed his family for one hour and thirteen minutes. He was the grandson of Billy J. Blankenship (JoAnna Leigh) of Wayne, W.Va., Stacy Lynn Brown of Huntington, W.Va., Deborah Lynn Elliott of Sandy Hook, Ky., and the late Charles Stanley Elliott; brother to Kaden Jett Elliott of Sandy Hook; and nephew of Brandon Blankenship of Huntington, Ryan Hall, Colten Hall, Sierra Hall, all of Wayne, Charles Travis Elliott of Louisville, Ky., and Chelsi Elliott of Campbellsville, Ky. Private services were held for the family. Arrangements entrusted to Johnson Tiller Funeral Home.

STEVE ADKINS, 64, of East Lynn, W.Va., died Sunday, July 10, 2016 at home. He was born December 24, 1951 at Huntington, W.Va., a son of the late Harmon and Lilly Watts Adkins. His sister, Ruby Katherine Adkins also preceded him in death. Steve was formerly employed with the Town of Wayne and a member of Laurel Freewill Baptist Church. Survivors include four brothers, Harmon "Jack" Adkins and his wife Reathy, Phillip Adkins and Cindy, Carlos Adkins and his wife Joyce, and David Lee Adkins, all of East Lynn; four sisters, Gladys Lucas and her husband Merle DeBoy of Wayne, W.Va., Catherine Workman and her husband Gordon of Genoa, W.Va., Darlene Adkins and Wally Kelly of Dunlow, W.Va., and Betty Staley and her husband Tommy of East Lynn; very special friend, Eugene Watts of East Lynn; Steve’s fur baby Hanah; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 14, 2016 at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home with Evangelist Luther Dingess officiating. Burial will follow in Community Gardens. Infant PAXTON SHANE MARCUM of Dunlow, WV, passed away Monday, July 11, 2016 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 am Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Anderson Cemetery on Jennies Creek Road in Kermit, WV. He was born July 10, 2016 in Huntington, WV, a son of Jason Shawn and Nikole Leigh Ann Langhans Marcum. A grandfather, Willard Marcum preceded him in death, along with a great grandmother, Fanny Brewer. Additional survivors include two sisters, Jayla Shawn Marcum and Faith Marie Marcum; his grandparents, Wiley and Isabelle Langhans and Lois Marcum. Morris Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation.

MRS. OPAL McCOMAS, 96, of Branchland, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 11, 2016. She was born September 12, 1919 at Branchland, a daughter of the late Alexander and Pearl Watson. Her husband, Roma Russell McComas also preceded her in death along with two sons, Freddy "Bud" McComas and Roma "Allen" McComas, two grandsons, Anthony Mills and Paul David McComas, and one great granddaughter, Casey Berry. She leaves behind one daughter, Betty Mills of Branchland; one son, Larry (Kay) McComas of East Lynn, W.Va.; and sister Doris Hall of Barboursville, W.Va.; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 14, 2016 at the Liberty United Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Triplett officiating. Burial will follow in the Dial Cemetery. DONNA SUSAN NAPIER, 46, of Genoa, W.Va., passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, West Virginia. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2016, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, W.Va., with Bob Hale officiating. Burial will follow at the Robert Vaughn Cemetery near East Lynn, W.Va. She was born November 11, 1969, in Huntington, W.Va., a daughter of the late Kenneth Lee and Laura Mae Talbert Stephens. Donna was a former bank teller for City National Bank and was a Church of God member. Survivors include her husband of 22 years, James Napier; two daughters, Samantha Brook Napier and Sabrina Nicole Napier; three sisters, Brenda Merritt (Dallas), Betty Stephens and Anna Holland (Rick), all of Wayne, W.Va.; four brothers, James Larry Stephens (Sandy), Bernie Lee Stephens and Robert Stephens, all of Wayne, W.Va., and Kenny Stephens of Westerville, Ohio; along with numerous other family and friends. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Morris Funeral Home.

W. A. TOMBLIN JR., age 80, of Jackson, Ohio passed away Tuesday, July 12th, 2016 at Jenkins Care Community. W. A. was a charter member of the Paul’s Chapel United Baptist Church, where he was ordained as a minister in 1985. He served several offices and pastored the church for many years. He was a faithful servant within the church, and sang in a quartet most of his Christian life. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Joyce (Conley) Tomblin; two daughters: Brenda (John) Booth and Pamela (Oscar) Miller; two brothers: Walter Tomblin and Claude Tomblin; six grandchildren: Jennifer (Joshua) Paden, Angela (Logan) Mark, Donald (Erica) Booth, Adam (Joanna) Miller, Nathaniel (Hilary) Miller, and Ladina (George) Metzler; and twelve great-grandchildren. W.A. was preceded in death by his parents, William Albert Tomblin Sr. and Elsie (Maynard) Tomblin; six sisters: Mary Bachtel, Georgia Ramey, Hazel Tomblin, Dorthea Freeman, Augusta Romans, and Odessa Blackburn; one brother, Willis Tomblin; and one great- randdaughter, Julia Miller. Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, WENDELL D. ADKINS, 81, of Lavalette, West Virginia, passed away at home on July 14, 2016, to be received into the arms of Jesus. He was born April 28, 1935, in Wayne County, a son of the late Noble and Monna Osburn Adkins. Also preceding him in death were brothers Reo, Leo and Harold Adkins. Wendell was a retired salesman for Kraft Foods and Ralston Purina Co., and had a lifelong passion for farming. He was a member of Mays United Methodist Church. Surviving are his devoted wife of 62 years, Jane Osburn Adkins; three sons, Steve Adkins (Roxanne) of Tennessee, Brian Adkins (Jeanne) of Scott Depot, W.Va., and Kevin Adkins (Silke) of Chesapeake, Ohio; five grandchildren, Mike Adkins (Kristina) of Tennessee, Whitney Adkins of Huntington, W.Va., Katelyn Davis (Patrick) of North Carolina, and Nick Adkins and Brett Adkins of Scott Depot, W.Va.; four great-grandchildren, Summer, Caleb, and Amelia Adkins and Natalie Davis; a brother, Darrell Adkins (Shirley) of South Carolina; a host of nieces and nephews and special friends, Clay Watts and John Dunkle. He was a retired welder and also served in the United States Army. Clark. Edith was a homemaker and a member of the Brush Creek United Baptist Church . Wilson, II (fiance' Alicia Coey) and Evan L. Wilson (Kaylee); great-granddaughter Harlow Grace Wilson; two godsons Jonathan R. Ball and Christopher M. Ball; his "little brother" that grew into "younger brother" and sister-in-law Ray Walker (Debbie); three sisters Barbara Christian (John), Rita Harney (Bob), Mary Lynn Walker; a special niece Tina Biller (Dick) and several more nieces and nephews. REV. DR. WENDELL MACK TACKETT, 70, of Kenova, passed away July 23, 2016, at his residence. He was born August 20, 1945 in Argyle, W.Va., to the late Willis and Effie Ferrell Tackett. Wendell was a crane operator with ACF and a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He was a member of the Twelve Pole Valley Missionary Baptist Church and was a minister for 31 years. He held the office of Moderator, Secretary and Treasurer of the Twelve Pole Valley Association and pastored several churches in the Association. Besides his parents he was also preceded in death by three sisters and one brother. Survivors include his beloved wife Carol Ward Tackett; one daughter and son-in-law, Renetta Hunt (Chris); four grandsons, Benjamin and Connor Mathis and Austin and Jacob Hunt; daughter Sonya Johnson; granddaughter Amber Johnson; grandson Cody Johnson and one great-granddaughter, Braylie Murdock. DORSEY LEE SPAULDING, 82, of Kerrville, Texas, passed away peacefully July 23, 2016, at Kerrville, Texas. Born March 10, 1934, at Crum, W.Va., he was a son of the late Lou Verna Bicking (Marcum) and Joseph S. Spaulding. He married Charlene Hubble on June 15, 1957, at the US Naval Air Station in Corpus Christi, Texas. He grew up in Logan, W.Va., and graduated from Logan High School. He went to West Virginia Tech on a football scholarship for two years before being recruited by the U.S. Marine Corps. During his service with the Marines, he graduated from Oklahoma State University at Stillwater with a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science. Lee's aviation career began with the United States Marine Corps where he flew combat close air support in Vietnam. He continued flying as an engineer, co-pilot, and later Captain for Pan American Airways where he flew to 58 countries during his 28 years of service. In 1983, he moved to Kerrville, where he became a rancher and a contractor. Lee has rebuilt 28 homes in Kerrville which have provided affordable housing to many families. He was involved in the design and construction of the Downtown Kerrville Pavilion, was a Founding Member of the Airmen's group, and served on the Board of Directors for Greystone Academy. Lee and his wife founded the Dorsey L. Spaulding and Spaulding Family Scholarship Fund, which benefits the youth of West Virginia. Dorsey Lee is preceded in death by his mother, Lou Verna; father, Joseph; brother, Jerry Spaulding; and sister, Imogene Belcher. Dorsey Lee is survived by his wife, Charlene Hubble Spaulding; nieces, nephews and great nephews. CURTISS PINSON, 83, of Huntington, W.Va., passed from this life to eternal peace, Sunday, July 24, 2016. He was born May 17, 1933, at East Lynn, W.Va., the son of the late James and Elizabeth Gilkerson Pinson. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War and continued his service to the country as a volunteer at the VA Medical Center. He was a graduate of Marshall University and was a dedicated school teacher and a friend to many students for over 35 years. He was a member of Emmanuel Community Church, where he proudly served as a deacon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings Myrtle Brooker, Ann Gibson, Howard Pinson, Orville Pinson, Edward Pinson, Esther Eicher, Elmer Pinson and Mart Pinson. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Carma Lee Ross Pinson. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one brother, Jim Pinson, one sister, Grace Plymale and a sister-in-law Bernice Mitchell, all of Huntington, W.Va., and a brother-in-law Pearl Blankenship of East Lynn; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and his church family. While his health led him to weakness of body, he remained strong in his spirit, faith and his willingness to share the Gospel and the good news of better things to come. STUART BRADLEY WELLMAN, 34, of Huntington, passed away at home on July 24, 2016. He was born in Huntington on September 8, 1981 to Gary Wellman and Diana Webb- Thompson. Stuart was a member of the New Life Church in Huntington where he was active on the Praise Team. He had a passion for music and loved to draw. Stuart previously worked as an Emergency Medical Technician and a Customer Service Representative at Amazon. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Edgel Webb and paternal grandfather Jack Wellman. WYOMA MARIE GALLIMORE, 83, of St. Albans, WV, wife of Donald R. Gallimore, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2016 at her daughter’s residence. DEBRA LEE FITZ GAUZE went on to be with the Lord on July 24, 2016 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. She was born November 9, 1982 to James and Loretta Fields Fitch both of Kermit, West Virginia. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Jessie and Ora Fields of Kermit, West Virginia and Jessie Lottie Fitch of Louisa, Kentucky. Debra was the mother of two boys who owned her heart, Austin Camron Lee and Cory Ethan Gauze both of Mayer, West Virginia. She has two sisters, Danielle Rose Ann Pinson of Summerset, Kentucky and Brandy Nicole Fitch Rhodes of Warfield, Kentucky along with four nephews and two nieces, numerous aunts and uncles and cousins who will miss her dearly and a host of friends. LILLIAN ADKINS, 100, of Coal Grove, Ohio, passed away Sunday July 24, 2016, at Crystal Care, Coal Grove, Ohio. She is also survived by 26 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 4 great great-grandchildren, one sister, Sallie (Don) Marcum of South Carolina and three brothers, Everette (Pate) Dillon, Sam (Nettie) Dillon and Wallace Dillon all of Michigan. MARY FRANCES MERRICK POWELL, 91, of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, died on July 25, 2016, at McGraw Hospice Center in Jacksonville, Florida. Mary was a longtime member of the 20th Street Baptist Church of Kenova, taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and was active in missions. Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clayton, two sisters, Blanche Olmstead and Evelyn Hoosier, brother-in-law Earl Hoosier, brother Cleo Merrick, and son-in-law John M. DeArment. She is survived by two daughters, Patricia (Cookie) Jordan of Lenexa, Kan., and Vickie DeArment (Ron) Lewos of Jacksonville, Fla.; four grandchildren, Dr. Michael C. (Jennifer) DeArment of Shelby, N.C., Tony C. (Elizabeth) Jordan of Kansas City, Mo., Richard S. (Carie) DeArment of Jacksonville, Fla., and Terri D. RUTH MARCUM THORNTON, 80, of Kermit, W.Va., passed away at home on July 27, 2016, after a lingering illness. Ruth was born August 14, 1935, in Tomahawk, Ky., to the late Virgil and Dixie Williamson Marcum. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Byron "Windy" Thornton Jr.; two daughters, Elaine Endicott (Dr. J.W.) of Kermit and Leslye Thornton of Winston-Salem, N.C.; two sons, B.W. Thornton III (Dr. Alice) of Lexington, Ky., and James Thornton (Karon) of Raleigh, N.C.; eight grandchildren, Dr. Elizabeth and Katherine Endicott of Huntington, Matthew, Zachary and Benjamin Thornton of Lexington, Madeline, Sam and Clay Thornton of Raleigh. Ruth is also survived by one brother, Dr. C.L. Marcum (Rita) of Missoula, Mont., and special niece Tammy Gartner (Randy) of Vancouver, Wash. Ruth was a graduate of Kermit High School and Marshall University, where she received her degree in Elementary Education. She was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta Sorority. Ruth worked alongside her husband as co-owner of Thornton's Department Store in Kermit. Ruth and Byron were married on November 24, 1954, at the Kermit United Methodist Church. The couple went on to spend 18 months in Germany where Byron was serving with the U.S. Army, residing with a German family in Weinheim, Germany, and traveling to various locations throughout Europe. Ruth was a woman of strong Christian faith and member of Kermit United Methodist Church where she served in many leadership roles, including Children's Sunday School Superintendent, Director of Vacation Bible School and President of Kermit United Methodist Women. Ruth was a leader in many community activities in the Kermit area. She was especially passionate about promoting outreach and activities for children. Most notably, she founded and led the Kermit Chapter of the Girl Scouts of America. Throughout her work with the Girls Scouts, she touched the lives of many young girls in the area and was awarded the highest honor of distinction for volunteer work from the Girl Scouts of America. Ruth was instrumental in fund raising activities to purchase uniforms for the newly formed Kermit High School Band. She served in a leadership position to establish the Kermit City Park. She served as a member of the Mingo County Library Board and volunteer for the Christian Help organization. More than anything, Ruth's greatest joy came from being loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her spontaneous, bright smile and engaging personality spread joy to all who knew her. Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 29, at Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home, Inez, Ky., with additional visitation from noon to 12:30 p.m. at Kermit United Methodist church prior to funeral services on Saturday. ROBERT "BOB" PAUL ADKINS, 68, went to the Lord on July 27, 2016, surrounded by family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hiram and Mary Adkins, sister, Sue Ann Goodall, and son, Michael Adkins. He is survived by his wife, Flossie, two sons, Steven (Diana) and Joseph (Kara), grandson, Michael, two granddaughters, Chelsea and Ava, great-granddaughter, Harper, brother, Forrest (Judy), and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was born in Wayne County in 1947, and graduated from Vinson H.S. in 1966. He was known then as Singin' Bob. He attended Marshall University from 1966-1967, graduated from the WV State Police Academy and was a retired Cabell County Sheriff's Deputy who was also one of the first State certified EMTs. While with the Sheriff's Department, he rose to the rank of Sergeant. He was a supervisor for the road patrol and detective divisions. He was a Little League coach for 10 years in Milton, a Kentucky Colonel and Culloden Volunteer Fire Department Captain. Jim was a U.S. Navy veteran, previously worked as a salesman for Motor Car Supply Company/Automotive Electric and was active in youth sports of Wayne, the Gideon Ministry and Wayne Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Roberta Webster. Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Rita "Elaine" Wright Webster; two daughters, Deborah J. Ball of Huntington and Kelly Webster-Fuller (Scott) of Kenova, W.Va.; two sons, Mark VanHoose (Cheryl) of Dayton, Ohio, and Todd Webster of Huntington; grandchildren, Leigh Stafford (John), Matthew Ball, Jonathan VanHoose, Claire VanHoose, Jamie Boyd (Brandon Adkins), Josie Boyd, Erin Fuller, Brad Fuller (Mia) and Brendi Nibert (Nathan), Isaiah Webster, Kaylee Wilson (Evan) and Allie Webster. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Abigail Ball, Hudson Stafford, Harlow Wilson and James "Brady" Adkins and his extended family at the Wayne Baptist Church. MAXINE WILKINSON PERDUE, aged 95, of Lavalette, W.Va., died peacefully at home on July 28, 2016. She was born April 8, 1921, at Dickson, W.Va., the eldest daughter of the late Charles E. and Opal Irby Wilkinson. She was a graduate of Wayne High School and Marshall University, having received an A.B. and M.A. in Education. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Herbert B. Perdue, and two sisters, Charlene Allen (Jim) of Houston, Texas and Myrtle Vinson (Eugene) of Harrisburg, Ore. She is survived by two children, David K. Perdue (Janet) of Huntington, W.Va., and Christine Perdue Smith (Turner) of Middleburg, Va.; two grandchildren, Rachel Perdue Turner (Sandy) of Huntington, W.Va., and Abigail L. Perdue of Arlington, Va.; two great-grandchildren, Heath and Wyatt Turner; one sister, Dorothy Cade (Don) of Indianapolis, Ind.; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. She was a retired high school teacher, having served 39 years in the Wayne County school system. She was a devout Christian, having served as a teacher at Florence Memorial United Methodist Church for 50 years and having been a member of the congregation for 66 years. She was the first president of the Women's Aglow Fellowship WV South Area Board, and a past president of the Women's Aglow Fellowship of Huntington, W.Va. She was also a charter member of Alpha Delta Kappa International Sorority for Women Educators. STEVE RAY BOYD, 61 of Ulysses, KY passed away Thursday July 28, 2016 at his home following a brief illness. Steve was born Sept. 5, 1954 at Nats Creek, KY the son of Henry and Francis Fitzpatrick Boyd. He was a heavy equipment operator. Steve was preceded in death by three brothers Henry M. "Skip" Boyd Jr., Allen Boyd, and Phillip Boyd. Survivors include his parents Henry and Francis Boyd of Nats Creek; his wife Darlene Fitchpatrick Boyd; two daughters Stephanie Boyd of Louisa and Elizabeth Thompson of Genoa, WV; three sons Stevie Boyd of Louisville, KY, Roger Hensley and Austin Hensley both at home; a sister Audrey Jean Lewis also of Louisa and a brother Hugh Boyd of River, KY; and six grandchildren. TRULA GILMAN DILLON, 83, of Genoa, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2016, at St. Mary's Medical Center. Trula was born on August 27, 1932, on Elk Creek in Mingo County, W.Va., to the late Dorsey and Delphia Dillon Gilman. She was a homemaker and the owner of Dillon's Grocery in Radnor. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William Riley "Pike" Dillon Jr., four sisters, Bertha, Edna, Barbara Hensley and Cozie Martin, and two brothers, Bruce and Cleopheus Gilman. Survivors include her son, Vince Dillon and wife Tammi of Wayne; two brothers, Albert Gilman and Roscoe Gilman, all of Columbus, Ohio; three grandchildren, Bryan, Neil and Aimee Dillon and their mother, Alice Rowe, and one great-grandson, Riley Thornton. MARJORY CRAIG RAY, 92, of Huntington, widow of Charles Albert Ray, who loved her Lord always, passed away Friday, July 29, 2016, at her residence. She was born February 26, 1924, in Shoals, W.Va., a daughter of the late James and Mary Kendrick Luther. She was a homemaker and a member of the Shoals Missionary Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir for many years. Marjory loved to bake and gave her baked goods to her friends who in turn loved her very much. She taught her grandchildren how to bake her famous Carrot Cake. She never had a negative thought toward anyone. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by brothers, James Luther (Tilda), Adrian Luther (Edna Mae), Frank Luther and Robert Luther, and sisters, Anna Crabtree (Otis), Evelyn Adkins (Ezra), Flora Sanderson (John Western "Wes") and Jewel Luther. Survivors include a son, Larry Walter Ray; daughters, Gail Davis (Vernon) and Gay Buchanan (Bill); seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, John Luther (Eloise); sister, Mary Janice Willis (William); sisters-in-law, Mildred Ray and Juanita Luther; many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly; a special friend, Janice Perdue; and her faithful companion, "Tiger." ARDITH FAE COPLEY, 92, of Fort Gay, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 29, 2016, following a brief illness. Ardith was born May 9, 1924, at Fort Gay, the daughter of the late Wallace and Pearl Saulsbury Peck. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Roy Copley, who died in 2005, also husband, John Wellman, and son, George Allen Wellman, and seven siblings, Cella Crabtree, Loda Wellman, Arch Peck, James Peck, Paige Peck, Frank Peck and Villa Scarberry. She was a retired Fort Gay Grade School Cook and a member of the Tabors Creek Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Linkous of Genoa, W.Va., and Alice Maynard and husband Maxwell Jr. of Louisa, Ky.; three sons, Stephen J. Copley and wife Stella of Fort Gay, Roy Keith Copley of Prichard, W.Va., and John Henry Wellman and wife Rita of Louisa, Ky.; 18 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday August 2, at the Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Denny Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Wellman Cemetery on Route 37 Fort Gay. Friends may visit the family from 11 a.m. until time of services Tuesday at the Wilson Funeral Home. PATRICIA DELIGHT NAPIER, 70, of East Lynn, W.Va., beloved wife, mother and grandmother, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 31, 2016, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, West Virginia. She was born April 28, 1946, in Huntington, W.Va., a daughter of Ruby Finley Maynard of Wayne and the late Harold Maynard. She was retired from Rite Aid Pharmacy and was a member of the Salem United Baptist Church. A brother, Jerry Maynard, also preceded her in death. Survivors include her loving husband of 56 years, Clifford Napier; two daughters, Judy Leffingwell (Bill) and Vicki Ross (Shane), all of Barboursville, W.Va.; two sons, Jesse Napier of East Lynn, W.Va., and Eddie Napier (Angie) of Wayne, WVa.; a sister, Linda Maynard of Wayne, W.Va.; a brother, Phillip Maynard of Wayne, W.Va.; five grandchildren, Ashley Russell, Shana Chapman, Justin Leffingwell, Shelby Napier and Trever Napier; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 3, 2016, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, W.Va., with Elders Roger Maynard, Tommy Damron and Tony Clay officiating. Burial will follow at Community Memorial Gardens at Wayne. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The family extends special thanks and appreciation to Hospice of Huntington for their kindness and loving care.

DARRELL S. ROSS, 46, of Cleveland, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2016 at Metro General Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 6, 2016, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, with Minister Jack Marcum officiating. Burial will follow at the Ross-Wiley Cemetery, Kiahsville. He was born on October 19, 1969, at West Hamlin, WV, to Janice Dingess of Kiahsville, WV and Jimmy Chapman of Chapmanville, WV. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Eugene and Maxine Chapman and Elmer and Palmeeda Ross. Survivors include his son Darrell Cain of Cleveland, Ohio, siblings Kimberly, Leslie, Tiffany and Melanie and several nieces’ nephews and friends. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. Saturday until service time at the funeral home.

ELSIE J. GARTIN, 82, of West Hamlin, WV passed away Sunday July 31, 2016 at Cabell Health Care Center. She was born Nov 1. 1933 and was a daughter of the late Jink and Norma Maynard Queen. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband James Lonnie Gartin; son, Chesley Jink Gartin; and granddaughter, Wendy Von Hoben. She was a retired machine operator for Solo Cup Manufacturing, Chicago, Ill. She is survived by two sons, Lonnie Jerome Gartin and Samuel Harlin Gartin (Lardara); two daughters, Norma Jane Adkins (Virgil), Laura Francis Von Hoben (Bill); grandchildren, Jerry, Carl, Wayne, Jadon, Lafawn, Shaudale, Cherrish, Nattie, Elsa, Chesley Jr., Catrina, Virgil Jr., and Bo; 20 plus great-grandchildren and many more to come. She is also survived by three sisters and one brother. Service were 11:00 am Friday August 5, 2016 at McGhee-Handley Funeral Home, West Hamlin, WV with a visitation one hour prior to the service. The burial was in the 14 Mile Cemetery, Ranger.
