STAPLETON, BELCHER. Looking for the burial site of my great grandfather
Israel Stapleton, who was born in 1838 in Johnson County, KY. He was a Civil
War Veteran in the 5th West Virginia Infantry, and married Laura Belcher,
daughter of James, in 1889. Israel died in 1895. I believe he lives in the Fort
Gay, Prichard , Centerville area. His son Robert is buried in the Gragston
Cemetery. Would like to contact some of the Belcher family for further

THOMAS. Looking for information concerning Rosetta Thomas, who was born in
Pulaski County, KY. She is believed to have moved to Huntington area between

FRASHER. My great great grandfather was Harvey Frasher (5/13/1826- 6/1862).
According to family history he was in Company K. 8th Virginia, CSA. He also had
three other brothers in Company K., Nathan Hasten, Samuel and William Frasher.
These three can be found on CSA rosters, but I cannot find any record of Harvey

WOOTEN. William Thomas Wooten lived in Wayne County until his death about
1945 and was married to Bertha Adkins. Had a daughter, Mary Wooten born in
Wayne County about 1905. Mary is my mother. Tommys’ father was Allen Wooten

JOHNSON, WILLIS. I am trying to obtain information on William & Matilda (Willis)
Johnson, who married abt. 1847 in Lawrence Co., KY and then migrated to Wayne
County. Their children were Wiley, Rebecca, Tabitha, Thomas Jefferson and William
Harrison Johnson. When and where did William die? What happened to Wiley and
Rebecca? In the WC marriage records, Benjamin F. gives William & Matilda as his

OSBURN, WHEELER, DEAN. Amos Dean married Abagail Wheeler in Washington
County, VA in 1804. Their daughter Ammilia Dean married Thomas W. Osburn in
Lawrence County, KY in 1830. they were married by Stephen Wheeler, who also
married many others of this Wheeler family. Benjamin Dean moved to Wayne County,
early in the 1800's. Were the family of Abagail Wheeler related to Stephen Wheeler?

Need information concerning my paternal grandfather, George Washington Napier,
who was killed in an auto accident in 1930 when my father was an infant. George
was one of nine brothers and sisters, many of whom had historic names. Most of his

Samuel Dean Jackson 3/28/1999

I was born 1/26/1941 in the "Goff" building in Kenova, WV. I am the only child of
Samuel Meadows Jackson (b. 2/15/1915 in Grayson, KY) and Dove Hazel Dean
(b. 11/1913 at Fort Gay, WV). Grandparents were James C. & Ottie (Meadows)
Jackson and Charles and Effie (Grimm) Dean. Any help with these families greatly

Need to find a half sister who was born around 1936-38. Her father was Arvil
Marcum, but her mother's name unknown. They were not married at the time.

Looking for information concerning my great-grandparents, Freeman and Mary
(Hays) Ramsey, who left Dickenson County, VA for Beech Fork in early 1900's.
According to a deed made to his children in 1918, Freeman was deceased by that
time. Their children included Nervesta Ellen, Laurie, Nora, Virgie, perhaps others.
Also looking for data on my grandfather William Lazarus Jones, commonly known
as Lace. He died in Wayne County ca 1923 and is buried at Fort Gay. His parents
were John and Melinda (Maynard) Jones. Where did John Jones come from. Help

(b. 11/3/1923) , both born in Wayne County. My mother was Wilda Mae Dyer
(b. 6/4/1933) also in Wayne County. Her father was Jasper Dyer, who owned a grocery

Need information on my grandfather, Captain Clyde Stewart Ferguson, born
9/9/1895, a son of Charles Harper and Mary Elizabeth (McKendree) Ferguson.
Mary was born 7/12/1868, the d/o Samuel Paul and Louise (Johnson) McKendree,
and she died in 1955.Charles Harper Ferguson was killed on the railroad and is buried
in Springhill Cemetery. Mary remarried to Frank S. Sedgewick. Clyde's brothers were
Paul Eugene, Otis, Robert, and Clarence Ferguson. Need help with this family.

Need to verify information concerning my Blair family which came to Wayne County
from Russell County, VA. Benjamin Blair and his wife Amelia (Wallis) Blair lived in
Russell County, but had left by 1860. Their children were James (1834), Sarilda (1836),
Lucinda (1838), Jahiel T. (1840), Francis Marion (1844), and Sarah F. (1846). I find
two Blair marriages in the Wayne County marriage records. Permelia Blair, widow of
Russell Co., VA. and d/o William & S. Wallace married on 11/5/1856 to Hobart White
of Pulaski Co., VA. In the other , James C. Blair married on 4/13/1855 to Elen
Adams. ( There is a later marriage on 9/11/1890 between James C. Blair & Nancy
Ann Sowards). Two of James C.'s daughters married in Wayne County, Ida to
Alexander Vance and Nancy J. to William B. Elkins. Any additional information
appreciated.

My grandmother and her parents lived in Wayne County from 1890-1904. They
came from Wise County, VA. My grandmother was Bertha Hay, d/o Marcus &
Susan (Craft) Hay. She attended Ten Mile School, where her uncle, Tilden Hay,
was her teacher. I also had a great aunt named Winnie Hay who married Albert
