FORD, HILL         I am researching the line of John Ford who married Elizabeth “Betsy” Hill. I understand that John was the son of Peter Ford who married Judith Maxey. However, I have not found any documentation for these facts. Does anyone have such documentation, or can anyone direct me to a source of such documentation. ADKINS         The death certificate of my great grandmother indicates that she died in Wayne, West Virginia and that she was buried in the Meredith Cemetery. I have been unable to locate this cemetery, or anyone who knows anything of it. ROBINETTE         Looking for information on my Robinette Family. My grandmother was Effie Robinette (1912-1998), daughter of James Robinette (1881-1961), son of Nathan Robinette (1846-unk), son of Nathan Robinett (1825-unk). Does anyone have any information on these or younger generations. Who were they, where did they come from, did any of them serve in the Revolutionary War? Are any buried in Wayne County? BILLUPS, LESTER         Am doing research on Muss & Midge (Billups) Lester. All I know is that Muss’s father was Paris Lester. I know nothing else about them, except that I believe Midge is related some way to Dudley Billups & Jack Tyler Billups. I have no idea how to research these people and have no relatives to ask. DOSS         Can anyone help me with information on the family of Charles E. Doss? I believe his wife was Margaret (Mills) Doss. (His wife was Margaret Tabor. His mother was Mary (Mills) Doss. Ed.) He was the father of eight children, born in Wayne County. His youngest daughter was Wilda Thelma (Doss) Frazier, and his youngest child was John Doss. I do not have much information for this family. MAYNARD             I am descended from James Maynard, through his son Jesse; through his son, Charles; through his son Lewis; through his son McKinley; through his son Neville, and through my father Ronald. I have been to the graves of each of these ancestors, except for those of Jesse and James. Does anyone know where these two are buried. I also would like to purchase a copy of the Maynard Book. I called Curtis Dyer, but his phone had been disconnected. (Curtis died 5/3/2005 Ed.) VAUGHAN-MILLS CEMETERY         I am searching for directions to this cemetery, which I believe is located on Peter Cave Road. My grandfather, Galten Charles Pyles, is buried there. JOHNSON CEMETERY             Need directions to this cemetery in Wayne County. According to death certificates, both James Morrison and his wife Nancy are buried there. SHARP, EAVES         Need help with the family of Charles Edward “Eddie” SHARP, who was the son of T. Henry SHARP and Mary EAVES. According to the 1930 census his wife was a CLEO and they had a daughter named Mary M. SHARP. Does anyone know this family?

SALMONS, MARCUM         Trying to help my granddaughter with her family tree. Need to know the parents of Linda (Salmons) Marcum, who was married to Paul Marcum. Their last known residence was Culloden, WV. Paul died 2/17/2006. Linda had an uncle named Timothy Salmons. Timothy’s parents were Roland “Ringtail” Salmons and Nancy Mae Bates. THOMPSON, CARTER, PEMBERTON             My great-grandmother’s name was Ida Belle (last name unknown), who was born between 1891-1893 in Wayne County, WV. She had three children by John Thompson or Charles Carter, as follows: (1) Margaret Thompson, 1907-1940, drowned in Ohio River, married Garland Thompson abt 1931. (2) Henry Harrison Thompson, 1909-1999, married Virginia Carpenter 1939, married Millie Unknown, 1972. Went by Harry and is my grandfather. (3) Charles Thompson, 1912-1945, married Ruth Adkins. Ruth stabbed Charles to death during a fight. Ida Belle then married James H. Pemberton from Ohio after 1912. Their children were John, Goldie, Ethil, Dick, Ellen and Isom. BOWEN         My great-great-grandfather was John Bachus Bowen, who married Hester Haney. John B. Served as State Senator from Wayne/Cabell County in 1863-65. MAYNARD, WILLIAMSON, CALDWELL             My parents are John & Thelma (Caldwell) Maynard. John is the son of Jim Hughs Maynard. Thelma is the daughter of Keither Caldwell. KELSHAW         Seeking birth records for the children of Henry “Harry” Kelshaw and Agnes Young Livingston. There were four children, Christina T. (1891), Winnie Maud (1894), Emma Sue (1897) and Douglas (1899). I found the two oldest on the website of the WV Department of Culture. STROUD, WILEY         Is there any documentation of a marriage/ divorce for Fanny Wiley and John Stroud, sometime between the years of 1843-1850? I am trying to identify this John Stroud, as well as his parents. In the 1850 census Fanny Stroud is living with her first cousin, Farmer Nelson and his family. Farmer’s parents were William Nelson and Sally Stroud, who were married Mar. 1, 1822 in Floyd Co., KY. Fanny’s mother Lucretia Nelson was a sister to William Nelson. CRUM, ALLMON         I am researching my wife’s family. Her Crum ancestor was William Jefferson Crum who married Mary Emiline Allmon. Wm. Was born in KY (1820) and died (1914) in Carroll Co., TN. Their children were Telitha, Joseph Tyler, John W., Millard F., William, Mary Ellen, and Thomas Monroe Crum, all born in TN. I have not been able to identify the parents of William Jefferson Crum. QUEENS CREEK         I at one time heard that there was a huge logging operation on Queens Creek, using rail lines to deliver the Big Sandy River. Is there any information available regarding such an operation?         Doug Cyrus      d-cyrus@sbcglobal.net


PICKLESIMER, LONG         My great grandparents, John M. And Cynthia (Long) Picklesimer are listed in the 1880 WC Census, along with three children. John was serving as the pastor at Mount Olive Church at the time. By January of 1881, Cynthia had died, along with her children Charlotte and Joel. My grandfather, Edward J. was taken to the family of Joel and Charlotte Long in Johnson County, Ky., who raised him. John M. then applied for a marriage license in March of 1881 in Boyd Co., Ky. I have since found a total of five marriages for him, but little else. He died in Pike County, Ky., in 1929, and was buried at Rock Camp, OH. Does anyone have any information as to the cause of death of Cynthia and her two children, or where they may be buried? Some suggest they may have died in a house fire or in a typhoid epidemic. CEMETERY         I am looking for the location of the Everett Adkins Cemetery on Beech fork. I am informed there was an Ott Adkins Cemetery relocated when the dam was built. WHEELER, RATCLIFF         My grandmother, Charlotte Imogene Wheeler, is from Fort Gay. She was born 4/11/1904 and died 4/17/1978. She was the daughter of Jay Taylor Wheeler and Jenny Ratcliff. Jenny died during childbirth or shortly after my grandmother was born, so we do not know much about the Ratcliff side of the family. We do have a few old letters and photos that survive. JOHNSON CEMETERY         Need directions to this cemetery in Wayne County. According to death certificates, both James Morrison and his wife Nancy are buried there. Perhaps some of their children are also buried there. I would love to visit the cemetery if I can find it’s location.

SALMONS, MARCUM         Trying to help my granddaughter with her family tree. Need to know the parents of Linda (Salmons) Marcum, who was married to Paul Marcum. Their last known residence was Culloden, WV. Paul died 2/17/2006. Linda had an uncle named Timothy Salmons. Timothy’s parents were Roland “Ringtail” Salmons and Nancy Mae Bates. THOMPSON, CARTER, PEMBERTON         My great-grandmother’s name was Ida Belle (last name unknown), who was born between 1891-1893 in Wayne County, WV. She had three children by John Thompson or Charles Carter, as follows: (1) Margaret Thompson, 1907-1940, drowned in Ohio River, married Garland Thompson abt 1931. (2) Henry Harrison Thompson, 1909-1999, married Virginia Carpenter 1939, married Millie Unknown, 1972. Went by Harry and is my grandfather. (3) Charles Thompson, 1912-1945, married Ruth Adkins. Ruth stabbed Charles to death during a fight. Ida Belle then married James H. Pemberton from Ohio after 1912. Their children were John, Goldie, Ethil, Dick, Ellen and Isom. KELSHAW         Seeking birth records for the children of Henry “Harry” Kelshaw and Agnes Young Livingston. There were four children, Christina T. (1891), Winnie Maud (1894), Emma Sue (1897) and Douglas (1899). I found the two oldest on the website of the WV Department of Culture. PRESTON, TOTTEN         Was there once a community in Wayne County named Preston? I have a memo from “J.C. Webb, Justice of Wayne County” which says on the bottom of it, “Preston, WV.” It was a letter notifying a friend that my g.g.grandfather J.J. Totten had been killed by a train. DAMRON, JARRELL         I am trying to sort our these families during the Civil War. My first problem is with Moses D. Damron. This name appears with both the 8th WV Cavalry and the 39th KY infantry. Are these the same Moses D. Damron? Second, Samuel Damron appears with both the 8th WV Cavalry and the 14th KY. Are the two men the same person? My third person of interest id William R. Jarrell, who is listed with the 5th WV Company F. Several W.J. Jarrell’s lived in WC. The one I am interested in is the son of John Jarrell, Sr. & Elizabeth Bromley. HOTEL ON CAMP CREEK         I am working on a history of the right fork of Camp Creek, near East Lynn. A PICTORIAL HISTORY OF WAYNE COUNTY had a picture of an old hotel on that branch, located near a mineral spring. The photo is not of very good quality.
