ALEXANDER, 53, of Wayne, at his residence.   Born, September 24, 1950, in Oakland, California, a son of Hugh Alexander and the late Arlene Smith Alexander.  Survivors include three daughters, Angela Marshall, Crystal Mills and husband Teddy, Regina Marshall; two sons, Robert J. Alexander II and Adam Alexander; five brothers, Jimmy Alexander and wife Freda, Ricky Alexander, Paul Alexander and wife Kay, Louis Alexander and Steve Alexander.  Burial was held February 5, 2004 in Blankenship Cemetery on Big Branch Road.

DIED – FEBRUARY 1, 2004 ** HESTER KETCHUM PEMBERTON QUINBY, 94, of Ceredo, W.Va., in Kingsbrook Nursing Home, Bellefonte, Ky.  Born July 14, 1909, in Wayne, W. Va., a daughter of the late Menis and Myrtle Adkins Ketchum.  Preceded in death by her first husband, Russell Pemberton, and her second husband, Harrison Quinby; two brothers, Phillip and Chad Ketchum; one sister, Lucy Ketchum; one daughter, Lucy Jane Lewis.  Survivors include two daughters and their spouses, Jean and Walter Sowards and Judy and Ralph Barker; two sisters, Harriet Ketchum and Julia Alice Edwards and husband Eddie.  Burial February 4, 2004 in the Elmwood Cemetery at Wayne.

SWORD, 57. of Cleveland, Ohio, at home.  Born November 13, 1946, at Mill Creek, a son of the late Ruben and Katherine Noe Sword.  Survivors include his wife, Linda Burgess Sword; one son, John Noah Sword; one sister, Beverly Masterson; two brothers, Michael A. Sword and Daniel Gregory Sword.  Burial February 4, 2004 in Sword Cemetery.

DIED – FEBRUARY 1, 2004 ** NEOLA FAYE CORNWELL, 73.  Born August 16, 1930, in Kenova, W. Va., to the late Raymond and Dollie McKeand Browning.  Survivors include her husband, Dan L. Cornwell; three children, Diane and husband Jimmie Corns, Danny and wife Lisa Cornwell, and William Raymond Cornwell; a brother, Nelson and wife Bettye Browning.  Burial was held February 4, 2004 in Hillcrest Cemetery.

DIED – FEBRUARY 2, 2004 ** JOSEPH E. BOOTEN, 83, of Huntington, at her home.  Born, May 9, 1920 in Huntington, W. Va., a son of the late Asa Doliver and Missouri Smith Booten.  He was preceded in death by his three brothers, Asa, Ralph and Jack and three sisters, Gladys Thomas, Louise Mooring, and Ruth Newman.  Survivors include his wife, Osa Pyles Booten; three children and their spouses; Mary Beth and Bobby Evans, John Mark and Jenny Booten, and Karen Joan and Zane Jackson; two brothers-in-law, Pierce and I. J. Pyles.  There was a private burial February 5, 2004.

DIED – FEBRUARY 2, 2004 ** MICHELLE LANE VANCE, 30, of Branchland, W.Va.  Born October 11, 1973, the daughter of Nita Jean Manns Vance and the late Lawson Vance.  She was preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Russell Donahue.  Survivors include two sisters and one brother-in-law, Drema Donahue and Amy and Rodney Dial; two brothers and their wives, Neal and Trish Vance and Alva and Debbie Vance.  Burial was held February 6, 2004 at the Franklin Cemetery, Branchland.

DIED – FEBRUARY 2, 2004 ** MELISSA SUE THOMPSON, 37, of Fort Gay.  She was born August 14, 1966, in Huntington, W. Va., a daughter of Henry and Catherine Marie Marcum Maynard.  Survivors include her husband, John Clinton Thompson; a son, Jonathan Nathaniel Thompson; a brother, Marcus Maynard and wife Karen; a father-in-law and mother-in-law, John Cecil and Wanda L. Thompson; two brothers-in-law, William Leroy Thompson and Jeffrey Cecil Thompson and wife Karen; a sister-in-law, Gwendolyn Jean Fetherolf and husband Dwayne.  Burial was held February 6, 2004 in the Thompson Cemetery.

Va.  Born March 12, 1909, at Stiltner, W.Va., a daughter of the late Lark and Della Frasher McClellan.   She was preceded in death by her husband, Elder Edmond Spence; one sister, Maxie Ramey; three brothers, Boyd McClellan, Glen McClellan, and Lark “Doc” McClellan; and one son-in-law, Clyde Chaney.  Survivors include seven daughters, Pauline Maynard, Della Dunkle, Erma Napier, Dianna Clay, Ruby Chaney, Phyllis Jordens, and Nella  Sue Howes; one sister, Birdie Workman, three brothers, Roy, Ira, and Dallas McClellan.  Burial was held February 7, 2004 at Community Memorial Gardens, Wayne, W.Va.

Va.  Born February 24, 1915, in Wayne County, a daughter of the late Joseph and Jennie Napier Kidd.  Preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Thompson; daughter, JoAnn Vest; and son-in-law, Jim Romine.   Survivors include two daughters and three sons-in-law, Janet and Gerald Abrams, Jean and Gene smith, and son-in-law, David Vest; sister and brother-in-law, Bertie and Jim Pinson.  Burial February 7, 2004 in Hillcrest Cemetery, Kenova, W. Va.

Moles Pierce.  Preceded in death by one son, Paul Wesley Pierce.  Survivors include his wife, Hazel Means Pierce; two daughters, Diana Lynn Brakins, and Louisa Michelle Reed; four sons, James W. DIED – FEBRUARY 6, 2004 ** RUBY NAPIER MILLS, 93, of Huntington.  Born February 26, 1910, in Wayne County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Albert Gallington Napier and Rebecca Turner Napier.  Preceded in death by her husband, George E. Mills; one son, Raymond E. Mills; eight sisters and three brothers.  Survivors include one sister, Edith Napier Moore.  Burial was held February 9, 2004 in the Napier Cemetery, Wayne County.

DIED – FEBRUARY 7, 2004 ** JONATHAN EUGENE STULL II, of Huntington, in Cabell Huntington Hospital.  He was the infant son of Jonathan Eugene I and Tammy Waters Stull.  Survivors include his grandparents, Leo Waters and Kathy Bowles.  Burial was held February 10, 2004 in Crescent Hill Cemetery in Ceredo.

Va., a daughter of the late Samuel and Emma Hutchinson Smith.  Preceded in death by seven brothers, Roy Hutchinson, Charles Smith, William Smith, Leonard Smith, Leo Smith, Ollie Smith and Harold C. Smith; and five sisters, Martha Black, Mary Pelphrey, Ruth Spurlock, Minnie Dingess and Emma Wellman.  Survivors include one sister, Gladys B. Smith; a brother-in-law, Wetzel Spurlock; a sister-in-law, Phoebe Smith.  Burial held February 13, 2004 in the Smith Family Cemetery, Buffalo Creek.
