Preceded in death by a brother, Edwin Watson; sister, Mildred Dean; daughter, Wanda Mae Thompson; granddaughter, Teresa J. Peterson. Survivors include her husband, George T. Cantley; daughters, Drema Mealey and Cecelia “Ceggie” Pelfrey; sister, Mary Wheeler; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Burial December 4, 2004 at the Woodmere Memorial Park.

DIED – DECEMBER 1, 2004 ** ELLA C. COMBS, 63, of Ashland City, TN, formerly of Ceredo, in the Hillcrest Healthcare in Cheatham County, TN. Born December 7, 1940 in Wayne County, the daughter of the late Carl and Stella Smith Carver. Preceded in death by a son, James Gregory Combs. Survivors include husband, Fred Combs Sr.; sons, Fred Combs Jr. and Mike Combs; brothers, Carl, David and George Carver; sisters, Vickie Carver, Dorothy Ross, Carol Parsley, Sharon Hensley, Janet Brown, Zara Bachelor and Linda Wellman; and four grandchildren. Burial December 5, 2004 in the Dock’s Creek Cemetery, Kenova.

DIED – DECEMBER 1, 2004 ** WILLIAM D. MITCHELL, 69, of Waterloo, Ohio, at his residence. Born June 14, 1935, in Sheridan, a son of the late Joe and Madge Pritchard Mitchell. Preceded in death by two brothers, Joe Mitchell Jr. and Eddie Mitchell; one sister, Virgie Mitchell, and a daughter, Madge Petty. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy May Bryant Mitchell; four sons, James and Eddie, William Mitchell Jr. and Jerry Mitchell; five daughters, Ruth Finley, Vickie McCarty, Georgia White, Joyce Mitchell and Alice Mitchell; three brothers, Freddie, Denver and George Mitchell; a sister, Arnie Sweeney, and nine grandchildren. DIED – DECEMBER 2, 2004 ** VIOLET LUCAS, 96 of Huntington, at her residence. Born February 2, 1908, in Wayne County, a daughter of the late Samuel and Melvina Jones Damron. Preceded in death by her husband, George W. Lucas; a son, James W. DIED – DECEMBER 2, 2004 ** FRED GILL ASHWORTH, of Atlantis, FL, formerly of Huntington, WV. Born Dec. 20, 1923, the son of Fred Bradbury and Garnett Gill Ashworth. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Virginia Brewer Pack; two sons, Stephen Gill (Patsy) Ashworth and Donald Pack Ashworth; and three granddaughters. a brother, William Hollis (Connie) Ashworth. DIED – DECEMBER 2, 2004 ** ROBERT H. "Bob" BAILEY, 92, of Huntington, in Cabell Huntington Hospital. Born May 14, 1912, in Fort Gay, W.Va., son of the late Mack and Margaret Woods Bailey. Preceded in death by his wife, Nell Taylor Peters and three sisters, Virginia Bailey, Thelma Giglio and Kathlene Brumfield. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Bill White; a son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Thelma Bailey; No burial information listed.

DIED – DECEMBER 3, 2004 ** LAURA MARCUM CALDWELL, 66, of Kenova, at her residence. Born June 25, 1938 in Lincoln County, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Harry and Lettie Williamson Marcum. Survived by her husband, Paul E. Caldwell Sr.; daughters, Debbie L. Williams and Terri G. and husband, Randy Adkins; sons, Paul E. DIED – DECEMBER 3, 2004 ** WARREN KENNETH CLEVENGER, 74, of Louisa, Ky, in Kings Daughters Medical Center. Born June 10, 1930, in Louisa, a son of the late Luther and Elva Clevenger. Preceded in death by an infant brother, Charles Clevenger. DIED – DECEMBER 3, 2004 ** HASKELL WILLIAMSON, 75, of Holden, W.Va, in the Logan Regional Medical Center. Born March 15, 1929, in Mingo County, to the late Mose B. and Delilah Maynard Williamson. Preceded in death by brothers; Garland, Archie, and Jim Williamson; sisters, Sadie Williamson Perry, Nary Aldridge, Georgia Williamson, and Hazel Spaulding Dingess; step-brothers, Lacy, Lloyd, and Landon Tomblins; step-sisters, Roxie Bryant, Lona Sargent, Nettie Belcher, and Lena Christian. Born December 15, 1922, in Logan County, a daughter of the late Raymond and Sarah Coburn St. Clair. Preceded in death by her husband, Mose Mullins. Survivors include a son, Raymond St. Clair. DIED – DECEMBER 4, 2004 ** VERNON "RUSTY" ADKINS, 83, of Huntington, formerly of Beavercreek, Ohio. Born July 10, 1921, in Wayne County, a son of the late Ottie Sharp and Rosa Myrtle Bowen Adkins. Survivors include his wife, Iris Lea Wood Adkins; daughters, Linda Wichman Hager and husband Harry L. Hager, and Jeanne Strottner and husband Lt. Col. (Ret.) Phillip of San Antonio, Texas; three grandchildren; and a brother, Ottie Adkins Jr. Private funeral and burial.

DIED – DECEMBER 4, 2004 ** EMERY JACKSON PRATT, 85, of West Hamlin, W.Va, in St. Mary’s Medical Center. Born July 24, 1919, on Bowen Creek, Branchland, W.Va., to the late Millard and Adeline Pratt. Preceded in death by sisters, Wilma Gue and Marie Thompson; brothers, Frank, Ray, Forest and Clifford; and one grandchild, Christy Ann Porter. Survivors include his wife of more than 60 years, Birdie Mae Bias; daughters and their husbands, Patricia and Richard Porter, Regainia Sue and Don Buss, Rebecca Gay and Dennis Freeman, Adelena Hope and Dr. Joey Roy, and Kitty and John Triplett; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. DIED – DECEMBER 5, 2004 ** FREDA MAE JENKINS, 58, of Huntington. Born July 20, 1944 in Wayne County, West Virginia, a daughter of the late James and Rethel Lester Watts. Survivors include brothers, Billy Joe Damron and his wife, Tracy, Dennis Watts, and Rickie L. Watts; sisters Letia Gay Plybon, Sue and David Mullins, Nora Linda and Edgar Plybon, Brenda and Gary Adkins, Cheryl Naundra and Jerry Waugh, and Sonja and Richard McKenzie. DIED – DECEMBER 6, 2004 ** JUDY GAIL WHITE, 53, of Kenova, W.Va. in St. Mary’s Medical Center. Preceded in death by her father, S.O. Cardwell Jr. and a sister, Dema Music. DIED – DECEMBER 8, 2004 ** CARL E. RUDD, 68, of Wayne, in Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Survivors include Robert and Fern Simmons and Delbert and Deanna Simmons. Burial December 13, 2004 at White Chapel Memorial Gardens.

DIED – DECEMBER 8, 2004 ** ALBERTA M. HANNAH, 86, of Ragland, W.Va. Born June 17, 1918, in Wayne County, W.Va., the daughter of the late Daniel and Elizabeth Marcum Meade of Missouri Branch, W.Va. Preceded in death by her husband Hayden Hannah; brothers, Alton, Arthur, Solomon and Earl Meade; sisters, Faye Marcum, Arzella Meade, Hessie Nelson, Bessie McCann and Brookie Edwards; and two grandchildren. Born November 26, 1934, in Huntington, a daughter of Mabel Beckelheimer and the late Ralph Edward Beckelheimer. Preceded in death by sons, an infant and Roger Eugene Bolen; a brother, Delbert Beckelheimer, and a grandson, Jacob Edward Bolen. Born Dec. 22, 1933, on Brush Creek in Wayne County, a daughter of the late Truman and Elizabeth Adkins Watts. Preceded in death by an infant daughter, Rhenda Dean Napier; sister, Mary Ramey Maynard; brothers, Bernie Watts, Thurman Adkins and Dencil Ramey. Osborne Midkiff. Preceded in death by a daughter, Penny Michele Short. Born December 3, 1951 at Holden, W.Va. the son of Mable Wilson Brewer of Laurel Creek, W.Va. and the late Willard Brewer. Born July 1, 1920, in Louisa, Ky., a daughter of the late Dee and Stella Combs Savage. Preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Perdue; daughter, Barbara Ellen Ellis; sister, Erma Gillespie; and a great-grandson, Treverey Lilly.
