WILLIAM ALBERT ADAMS,
67 of Huntington, W.Va., passed away Thursday, January 28, 2010, in Cabell
Huntington Hospital. He was a devoted member of the Jehovah Witnesses. Albert
believed that Jehovah God was the true God and that his Kingdom through Jesus
Christ will rule over this Earth; making it a paradise. A memorial service will
be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, February 6, 2010, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's
Witnesses, Huntington, by Larry Ferguson. Albert was born March 13, 1942, in
Huntington, a son of the late William Adams and Claire Bell Lane. He was a
computer operator with Blue Cross/Blue Shield. He was also preceded in death by
a sister, Brenda Simmons. Survivors include one brother and sister-in-law, John
and Geneal Adams of Huntington; one sister, Patsy Godfrey of Illinois and
several nieces and nephews whom he loved very much. There will be no visitation.

WALTER L. NOEL of Lavalette, W.Va., formerly of
Lenore, W.Va., born October 13, 1917, went to be with his Lord at the age of 92,
at his residence. (Date ot given) He was born to the late Emory R. and Vicy Ann
Marcum Noel. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Rev. Chelsea Noel and
Fred Noel, and one sister, Charlene Deskins. He is survived by his loving wife
of 62 years, Alice; also two daughters and their spouses, Judy and Wally Gilliam
of Cleveland, Tennessee and Gayle and Ronald Finley of Naugatuck, W.Va.; six
brothers, Howard of McKenny, Texas, Emory and Ola Mae of Louisa, Ky., Lee and
Billie of Mallory, W.Va., David and Margaret, Rev. Eddie and DeLois, and Rev.
Charles L. and Shirley, all of Ohio; three sisters, Louise Hagman of Venice,
Fla., Mae Oshore of Cyclone, W.Va., and Bernice and Fred Kirk of Wytheville,
Va.; four grandchildren, Noel (DeAnna) Gilliam and Shawn (Emily) Gilliam, Tracy
and Keith Finley; one great-grandson, Skylar Gilliam; one great-granddaughter,
MaKayla Gilliam; a very special family member, Marlene Ferrell Glasscock, and
caregiver Lynn Baise. Walter was a member of the Jefferson Avenue Church of God
and a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II. A celebration of his
life will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 3, 2020, at the Jefferson Avenue Church
of God, Huntington, conducted by Pastors Greg Tomlinson and Paul Farley. Burial
will follow in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington. Friends may call from 6 to 8
p.m. Tuesday at the Reger Funeral Home. Mr. Noel will be taken to the church one

ORVILLE "TEX" R. LIKENS, 73 of Orient, Ohio, former
resident of Baltimore, Ohio, died Monday, February 1, 2010 at Doctors Hospital.
He was a truck driver for land Products and a Korean Conflict veteran serving in
the US Marine Corp. He was a member of the Teamsters Local Union 294. He is
survived by his son, Terry L. (Orlen a) Likens of Lancaster, Ohio; grand
daughter, Dainelle Likens of Carroll, Ohio; brothers, Terry R. (Lou) Likens
Dunlow, West Virginia, Jerry (Kathleen) Likens of Oceana, West Virginia, and
Albert Dempsey of North Carolina; several nieces and nephews. His loving, caring
girl friend of 10 years, Jean Fuller, her children, Cris, Kim, and Beckey, his
adopted son, mark (Selena) Fuller and his adopted grandchildren, Hanna and Jake
Fuller. He was preceded in death by his wife, bonnie Stoughton Likens; parents,
Jasper and Viola Williamson Likens; brothers and sister-in-law, Marvin, George
Likens, Dotsel and Marshaleen Dempsey, sister and brother-in-law, Goldie Bentley

LORETTA JEAN BRUMFIELD NAPIER of Lavalette, W.Va.,
went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 1, 2010, at St. Mary's Medical
Center, Huntington, W.Va., after losing her battle with Lou Gehrig's disease.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 4, 2010, at the
Philadelphia United Baptist Church, of which she was a member, by Elder Glen
Kiah Williamson. Burial will follow at Community Memorial Gardens, Wayne, W.Va.
She was born August 9, 1938, in Huntington, a daughter of the late Earl and
Sadie Overby Brumfield. Also preceding her in death were her brothers, Don
Brumfield, Claude Brumfield and Charles "Bigshot" Brumfield, and an infant
sister. Survivors include her wonderful and caring husband of 52 years, Elmer
Sr.; a son, Elmer Jr. and wife Vicki of Lavalette; a daughter, Tamara Hanshaw
and husband Rob of Huntington; three grandchildren, Nathaniel Napier, Elizabeth
Maynard and husband Josh, and Zachary Napier, all of Lavalette; and a
great-grandson, Noah Maynard. Also surviving are three brothers, Lewis Brumfield
and wife Loretha of Oregon, Paul Brumfield and wife Eva of California and Earl
Ray Brumfield of Oklahoma; and two sisters, Beatrice Lucille Napier and Betty
Napier and husband Rev. Don Napier, all of Huntington; and a great host of
nieces, nephews and friends. Her nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family
would like to extend a special thanks to St. Mary's Home Health and a very
special caregiver, Melissa Fannin. In lieu of flowers, donations will be
accepted by her husband to be sent in her memory to the Muscular Dystrophy
Association to help with the fight against Lou Gehrig's and other neurological

BETTY LOU BELLOMY, 80, of Huntington, W.Va., passed
away Monday, February 1, 2010, at St. Mary's Medical Center. Funeral services
will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, February 5, 2010, at the Wallace Funeral
Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Rev. E.S. Harper. Burial will be in White
Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. She was born March 30, 1929, a daughter
of the late Oakey H. Smith and Nellie A. Johnson Smith. She retired from Kerr
Glass in Huntington. She was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Bellomy,
sister and brother-in-law Virginia L. and Bill Boggess; sister-in-law Jean
Smith; brothers-in-law Emory Fox and Eugene Bellomy; mother-in-law Lillian
Bellomy Davis. She is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Lisa and Glenn
White of Huntington, and Crystal Bellomy of Huntington; one son and
daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Jennifer Bellomy of Barboursville; two sisters,
Jeanette Muth of Huntington and June Fox Hinchman of Barboursville; two
brothers, Lowell H. and Lucy Smith of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and Edward E.

DAVID NAPIER, 33, of Genoa, W.Va., died Tuesday,
February 2, 2010, at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m.
Sunday, February 7, 2010, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel by Elder Roger Maynard
and Brother Clifford Napier. Burial will follow at John Napier Cemetery. He was
born April 24, 1976, in Huntington, W.Va., a son of Golden and Katherine Holt
Napier of Genoa. David was a tile setter out of the Laborer's Local #302 in
Huntington. Survivors include his loving wife Rhonda Pelfrey Napier; a daughter,
Alyssa Napier at home; a son, Arik Napier at home; six sisters, Gladys Ann
Marcum and husband Elmer Lee Marcum Jr. of Fort Gay, W.Va., Ashley Napier, Noel

BARBARA SUE FINLEY ADKINS, 60, of West Hamlin,
W.Va., went to be with the Lord on February 2, 2010, at home. She was born April
21, 1949, in Milton, W.Va., the daughter of the late Randal and Alpha Markins
Finley. She was a homemaker, loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was
preceded in death by a son, Everett Adkins Jr., father and mother-in-law Collie
and Bessie Adkins, and two brothers-in-law, Denver Adkins and Collie Adkins. She
is survived by her husband of 39-years, Everett Adkins; two daughters, Susan
Maynard of West Hamlin and Crystal (Jeremy) Adkins of West Hamlin; three
grandchildren, Kayla S. Adkins, Everett C. Adkins and Angel D. Adkins; three
sisters, Debbie Adkins of Huntington, W.Va., Robin Finley of Salt Rock, W.Va.,
and Racheal (Greg) Burns of Salt Rock; four brothers and sisters-in-law and a
host of nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday,

MARY JOANN HUGHES, 58, of Silver Lake, Indiana,
went to be with her Lord Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at 3:30 AM in her Silver
Lake, Indiana home. Mary was born November 11, 1951 in Mingo County, West
Virginia to Shorty and Susie (Marcum) Stroud. She moved to Silver Lake, Indiana
28 years ago from West Virginia. Then on November 2, 1984, in Silver Lake, she
married Carl Hughes. A homemaker, Mary was a member of Full Gospel Pentecostal
Church, Silver Lake; she loved to go to church. She also loved her family -
especially her grandchildren and her little Chihuahua, Coco. Mary enjoyed
gardening, flowers and quilting. Those left with memories to cherish are her
husband: Pastor Carl Hughes; 3 sons and daughters-in-law: Blake and Maegan
Hughes, Carl E. and Chryl Hughes, all of Silver Lake and Steve and Tina Hughes,
Claypool, Indiana; daughter: Ashley Hughes, Warsaw, Indiana; 6 grandchildren; 2
great grandchildren; 4 brothers and sisters-in-law: Harman and Linda Stroud,
Jessie and Gusty Stroud, Van and Easter Stroud (all of Breeden, West Virginia)
and James and Patty Stroud of Belfry, Kentucky; 4 sisters and brothers-in-law:

Gospel Pentecostal Church in Silver Lake from 2 PM, Thursday, February 4, until
the time of the service on Friday, February 5. Mary's life will be celebrated
beginning at 10 AM Friday, February 5, at the church with Evangelist Darell
Peters of Greensburg, Indiana presiding. Burial will follow in Center Cemetery,
Silver Lake.

WILLIAM THOMAS (TOMMY) BUSKIRK, of Grenada,
California, died February 3, 2010 in Medford, Oregon. He was the youngest son of
Stan Buskirk and Melba Buskirk Harrington born on Patrick Creek, Wayne County
July 4, 1940. Tommy enjoyed the mountains and hunting in northern California. He
is survived by his sister, Deloris Buskirk Chewning of Brookings, Oregon and by
many nieces and nephews.

DURLAND WORKMAN, age 84, of Hilliard, passed away
Thursday, February 4, 2010. Preceded in death by parents H. Bascom and Lucy
Workman and daughter Patricia Workman. A long time member of St. Brendan the
Navigator Catholic Church, active in the Mens club, usher for many years, served
on the Festival Committee, St. Vincent DePaul Society, OSU Alumni Association,
Waverly High School Alumni Association, Hilliard Republican Club, Honorary
Constable of Norwich Township, served as Norwich Township Trustee for 35 years
and retired from Frank Gates Service Company. He was a Navy Veteran of WWII.
Preceded in death by sister Bettie Robbins. Survived by loving wife of 58 years,
Margaret; children, Lou Workman, Lisa Workman, Mark Workman, Suzanne (Ed) Lynch,
Michael Workman, and Matt (Krista) Workman; 11 grandchildren; and a host of
friends. Family will receive friends 5-8 p.m., Monday at the TIDD FUNERAL HOME,

MARY E. BARTRAM, 94,
of Kenova, W.Va., passed away Friday, Feb. 5, 2010, at Heritage Manor. Funeral
services will be conducted noon Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010, at Rollins Funeral
Home with Rev. Tom Sharp officiating. Interment will follow in Woodmere Memorial
Park, Huntington. She was born Sept. 30, 1915, in Albuquerque, N.M., a daughter
of the late Laban and Florence Haynie Bartram. Mary was a member of the First
Baptist Church of Kenova, where she was a Sunday school teacher and a member of
the Saints Alive Choir. Mary was a retired educator, having taught five years at
Ceredo-Kenova High School and 30 years at Boyd County High School. Mary was a
Kentucky Colonel. She was preceded in death by brothers, Clarence W. and Clyde
L. Bartram; and sister, Gladys Bartram Smith. She is survived by several nieces
and nephews. The family wishes to thank the staff of Heritage Center for their

REV. JOHN YOUNG, 87, of Chesapeake, Ohio, went to
be with his Lord and Savior on Feb. 5, 2010, in St. Mary's Medical Center. He
was born Sept. 12, 1922, in Wayne County, W.Va., son of the late Calvin and
Martha (Cyrus) Young. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an
infant son, Roger Lee Young; three brothers, James, Sanford and Alfred Young;
one sister, Sara Ellen Young; grandson, Delmas (Sam) Beckelheimer Jr.; and a
great-granddaughter, Emily Crabtree. Rev. Young is survived by his loving wife
of 65 years, Freda Maynard Young; his children, John E. Young of Chesapeake,
Ohio, James Young and wife, Brenda of Proctorville, Ohio, Juanita (Sissy) Strait
and husband, Ernie of Baltimore, Ohio, Linda Gullett of Carter County, Ky.,
Regina Gullett and husband, Clint of Ashland, Ky., and Georgian Beckelheimer of
Carter County, Ky.; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three
step-grandchildren; and one adopted great-granddaughter; and a host of family
and friends, including Kandi, who thought a lot of him. He retired from B&O
Railroad and was pastor and founder of the Full Gospel Tabernacle Association in
Chesapeake, Ohio, since 1962. He became an ordained minister of God on April 18,
1954, and two years prior to this, he was a faithful listener of the Gospel Hour
with the evangelist Oliver B. Grune. His number one priority was serving God and
then being with family and friends, enjoying life in a good clean Christian way.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral service will be
conducted 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 8, 2010, at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville,
Ohio, by Pastor Brian Petty and Minister Paul Drake. Burial will follow in Young

JOYCE GEORGIA BLAKE, 70, of Huntington, passed away
Friday, Feb. 5, 2010. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9,
2010, at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, with Johnny Harris
officiating. Burial will follow in Miller Cemetery, Miller, Ohio. She was born
Nov. 19, 1939, in Wayne County, W.Va., a daughter of the late George and Emily
Crank Carter. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Blake Sr.;
two sisters, Linda Carter and Creasy Mays; two brothers, Paul and Roy Carter.
She is survived by three daughters, Itona Chaney (Lon), Brenda Yuhas (Michael)
and Patricia Sellards; three sons, Robert Blake Jr., Steve Blake and Bryan Blake
(Cindy); two sisters, Ida Blake and Lyda Yates; four brothers, Homer, Zeri,
Calvin and Muss Carter; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The

ALMA COLLINS BAISDEN, loving wife, devoted mother
and grandmother, and faithful and obedient servant to the Lord Jesus Christ,
passed on the be with the Lord early Saturday, morning, February 6, 2010. She is
survived by her best friend and husband of 67 years, Woodrow Baisden, and 10
children; Minerva (Albert) Perry of Dunlow, Juanita Baisden of Breeden, Deloris
(Andy) Perry of Columbus, OH; Linda (Barry) Hughes of Groveport, OH; Wanda
(Charles) Pollinger of Fort Gay; Rita (Keven) King of Galloway, OH; Woodrow
Baisden Jr. of Breeden; Shela Baisden of Gahanna, OH; Teresa (Keith) Bare of
Columbus; and Odell (Deana) Baisden of Breeden. She is also survived by 20
grandchildren; two brothers, Bennie Stafford of Dingess and Don Stafford of
Breeden and one sister, Helen Schaefer of Circleville, OH; and many fiends. She
was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Virginia, sister Madeleine Hall and
brothers Kester Collins and Arthur Stafford. Alma was born June 30, 1927 in
Breeden. She spent her life in devoted service to her family, her community and
God. In addition to being a homemaker, she taught Sunday School for years and
opened and operated her own flower shop. She was also a skilled quilt maker and
baker. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, February 10 at 1 p.m. at
the Lighthouse Community Church with Keith Brumfield officiating. Burial will
follow in the Baisden Family Cemetery of Breeden. Visitation will be after 2
p.m. on Tuesday at the Church. Arrangements are under the direction of the

WILMA FRANCES ALLEY,
74, of Ceredo, W.Va., went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, February 7, 2010,
at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. A funeral service will be conducted at
7 p.m. Wednesday, February 10, 2010, at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova, W.Va.,
with Minister Barry Bryson of Manassas, Va., officiating. Burial will occur on
Thursday, February 11, 2010, in the Alley/Miller Cemetery, Whites Creek Road,
Prichard, W.Va. Minister Joe Pratt will conduct the graveside service. Frances
was born April 14, 1935, in Wayne County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Russell
Holland and Thelma Reynolds Holland Smith. She was also preceded in death by her
youngest son, John Gregory Alley. She was a wonderful wife, mother and
homemaker, choosing to dedicate her life to caring for her family. After her
children were grown, she graduated from the Huntington School of Beauty Culture
as a licensed cosmetologist. She was a faithful member of the Kenova Church of
Christ, 1801 Chestnut Street, Kenova, WV. She is survived by her loving husband
of 56 years, Joe Alley, whom she married on April 4, 1953; two sons, Steve Alley
of Princeton, W.Va., and Mike (Sharon) Alley of Prichard; daughter Lisa (Chris)
Hedrick of Prichard; and four grandchildren, Eric and Mollie Alley and Nathan
and Samuel Hedrick. She is also survived by sisters Peggy (Charles) Ball and
June (Everett) Eastham and brother Bill (Rhonda) Holland. Visitation will be

SAMUEL JAMES CONN, 66, of Huntington, W.Va., went
home to be with the Lord unexpectedly on February 7, 2010. He was born in Wayne
County, W.Va., on September 14, 1943. He is survived by his wife Felicia Helen
Bragg Conn; four step-daughters, Alicia Dawn Thornton Cook (Lee), Amelia Diane
Thornton Baker (Charlie), Andrea Danielle Thornton (Darius Aldridge), Megan
Elizabeth DiGati (Shane Huff); eight grandchildren, Phillip Linne Jr.
(Stephanie), Alison Linne, Anna Cook, Courtney Baker, Kaitlyn Baker, Josiah
Baker, Alyssa Aldridge, Hunter Huff; three adopted grandchildren, Amy Hively,
Nick Chiericozzi, Steven Chiericozzi; one great-grandson, Wesley Stephen Linne.
He is also survived by his siblings Golden Ray Conn, Doug Conn, Goble Conn,
Granville Conn Jr., Anne Conn Walker, Loretta Conn Hanshaw, Sarah Conn Watts and
a host of nieces and nephews. He was a member of Milton Church of God. He was a
brick layer by profession. He was preceded in death by his parents, Georgia
Zelma Spurlock Conn and Granville Conn. He was loved by all and had many
friends. Services will be held 6 p.m. Wednesday, February 10, 2010, at Hall

MRS. NAOMI WARD, 81, of Orange Park, FL, passed
away Sunday, February 7, 2010. She was born on March 16, 1928 in Kenova, WV to
parents, Edward and Frances Rakes. Mrs. Ward was a homemaker and of the Baptist
faith. She will be dearly missed by her loving family and friends. She was
preceded in death by her parents as well as her husband, James Ward. Survivors
include her son, Donald (Vickie) Ward of Middleburg, FL; daughter, Janet Smith

children. He was born October 23, 1953, in Williamson, Ky., to Clifford Scott

TERRY JARRELL MAYS, 45, of Lavalette, W.Va., died
Monday, February 8, 2010 in Mabscott, W.Va. He was born November 2, 1964, in
Huntington, W.Va., to Ted O. Mays and the late Doris L. Ransbottom Mays. Mr.
Mays was united in marriage to Charity Ramey Mays, who survives. Other survivors
include four children, Stephanie Pruitt and Andrew Pruitt of Lavalette, Elmon
Collins of Wayne, W.Va., and Ashley Ortiz of San Antonio, Texas; three brothers
Teddy E. Mays of Wayne, Todd Mays of Huntington, and Carl Wilkes and his wife
Linda of Lavalette; sister-in-law Joan Wilkes of Kenova, W.Va. Additional
survivors include a special uncle, Keith Mays, along with a host of nieces and
nephews, all whom he dearly loved. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in

ARIETTA KIRK, 85, wife of the late William Lee Kirk
of East Kermit, died Monday February 8, 2010, at the Martin County Health Care
Center in Inez, Kentucky. Mother loved to sing and dance. She is loved very
deeply and will truly be missed. Arietta was born March 12, 1924 to the late
Ransom and Mae Packo. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in
death by her daughter, Carol Marcum and brothers, R.S. Packo and Morris Packo.
Arietta is survived by six children, Billy Ray and Dixie Marcum of Prichard,
Bill "Butch" Kirk and Amanda of Wayne, Jim and Sandra Donnellan of Franklin
Furnace, Ohio, John and Patty Barber of Orange Park, Florida, Tommy and Teny
Flutz of Haines City, Florida, and Irene Stewart of Winter Haven, Florida; one
sister, Juanita Swetnan of Columbus, Ohio; several nieces and nephews; nine
grandchildren and great- grandchildren; and a host of relatives, friends and
neighbors. The funeral was held Friday, February 12 at 11 a.m. at
Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home, Warfield, Ky. Paul Marcum will officiate. The

DORIS WEBB, 77, of Louisa passed away Monday,
February 8, 2010 at Cornerstone Hospital in Huntington. She was born Jude 26,
1932 in Louisa, a daughter of the late Lloyd George and Tina Webb Jordan. She
was a member of the Heavens Messengers Singers, a member of the Eastern Star of
Louisa and also a member of the Baker Chapel Christian Church. In addition to
her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband LD Webb. Survivors include
two sons; Michael and Wanda Lee Webb; Terry and Debbie Webb all of Louisa; two
daughters, Sharon Webb Stein and Karene Webb Lewis both of Louisa; one sister
Mary and John McGurie of Louisa, six granddaughters, Stephanie Web and Randall

JEAN WARD, 88, of Huntington, passed away
peacefully at home February 10, 2010. Funeral services will be conducted at 2

Burial will follow in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington. Jean was born Aug. 24,
1921, in Dingess, W.Va., a daughter of the late Lewis Dingess and the late
Kathrine White Dingess Justice. Two brothers, Bill and Jack Dingess, and one
sister, Opal Spaulding, also preceded her in death. Surviving are her beloved
husband, Ralph V. Ward, whom she married June 24, 1942; two daughters and
sons-in-law, Linda Tony (James ) of Ellicott City, Md., Patty Brammell Johns
(Dave) of San Antonio, Texas. Jean was also "NeNein" to her grandchildren,
Jonathan Tony, Bill (Giovanna) Tony, Andrea Tony, Joshua (Marion) Brammell, Abby
Brammell and her husband Stephan Bishop; as well as her great-grandchildren,
Justin and Christian Tony, Daisy Bishop; and her future great-grandchild, "Baby"
Brammell. Jean was a retired employee of Owens Illinois, a proud member of the
WAVES during W.W.II. and life member of the VFW Post 1064 Auxillary, American
Legion Post 93 and of the DAV Chapter 2. She was an excellent seamstress. She
loved to garden, both flowers and vegetables. Her family always enjoyed her
canned tomatoes, green beans, and bread and butter pickles. Her beautiful smile

MONZOLA ADKINS, 66, of Huntington, W.Va., passed
from earth to her eternal heavenly home on February 10, 2010. She was born
February 5, 1944, in Kaishville, W.Va., a daughter of Shirley Frasher Dyer of
Huntington and the late Ted Dyer. She married Robert Lee Adkins on March 4,
1960, and would have been married 50 years in 22 more days. She was part owner
of Robert L. Adkins and Sons Contractors, Inc., serving the business as
Secretary and Treasurer. Her first and foremost love was being a wife, mother
and homemaker. She is survived by two sons, Keith E. and wife Robin K. Adkins,
and Jeffrey D. and wife Earlene Adkins; four grandchildren, Robert Seth and wife
Sarah E. Adkins, Emily Beth Adkins, Kaylin Adkins and Hannah Adkins; one
great-grandchild, Grady Cole Adkins "the G-man," all of Huntington; one brother,
Dannie Dyer and wife Mary of Prichard. Monzola was instrumental in the
development of Green Valley Heights Subdivision and numerous custom built homes
throughout the Tri-State area. Monzola loved working in her flower garden,
sewing and baking. Above all, she loved being "Mamaw Ona." She was a member of
Bowen Ridge Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be Steve Zickefoose, Mike Ashworth,
Carl Runyon Jr., Brett Wellman, Jim Chapman, Dr. George McKay, Paul Fields and

LEWIS GLENN MILLS, 87, of Wayne, W.Va., died
Thursday, February 11, 2010, at his residence. Funeral services will be
conducted 11 a.m. Monday, February 15, 2010, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel by
Rev. Jim Plyburn, Rev. Laddie Smith and Mike Ferguson. Burial will follow at
Mills-Vaughan Cemetery. He was born October 24, 1922, in East Lynn, W.Va., a son
of the late Lewis and Olive Dickerson Mills. He was a U.S. Navy World War II
veteran and a graduate of Marshall College. He was also a member of the Wayne
United Methodist Church, the Huntington Lodge #64 IOOF, the VFW Post #8428 and
DAV and a former volunteer EMT for the Wayne Fire Department. Lewis Glenn served
two terms in the West Virginia Legislature where he and fellow legislators from
Wayne and Cabell Counties co-sponsored the bill making Marshall College a
University. He was also a former teacher, school principal and was probably best
known as the Wayne County Assessor with 24 years of service. Also preceding him
in death were four sisters, Mary Bing, Cora Mills, Sarah Queen Marshall and
Arbutus Smith; five brothers, infant Appie Mills, Cullie, John, Henry and Truman
Mills; and a son-in-law, Tim Massey. Survivors include his devoted wife of 64
years, Erma Ferguson Mills; a son, Ferrell Mills and wife Anita of Wayne; two
daughters, Janet Brown and husband Tony of Wayne and Annette Massey of
Huntington, W.Va.; five grandchildren, Kent Mills and wife Angie, Heather Bloss
and husband Dennis, Amy Reisig and husband Mark, Zack Brown and wife Jessica,
Ginny McMillion and husband Danny; 10 great-grandchildren, Cody Mills, presently
serving with the U.S. Navy, Austin Mills, Lucas and Kendra Bloss, Derek, Kristin

At peace now, SHARON KAY ROSS WILLIAMSON, was
welcomed home by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, her parents, Edward & Doyle
Maynard Ross, and her baby boy on February 11, 2010. She fought a hard battle
with Pick's disease but God in his mercy did not allow her to suffer. Sharon was
born September 20, 1949 in Wayne, W.Va., lived in Chicago for a while and then
resided in W.Va. before calling Jacksonville, Fla. her home for many years.
Sharon leaves behind her two children: Denise Sahni and husband Adesh, and their
two children, Zachary and Sarah; and Tommy Williamson and his three children,
Steven, Logan, and Layton, all of Jacksonville. She also had 5 "bonus"
grandbabies from Jenny Vasko of Oregon and a brand new great-granddaughter Zoe
Vasko of Ill. Also, she leaves her brothers Gil Ross and his wife Darlene and
William Spence, all of Wayne; her two sisters, Linda Smith and husband Curtis of
Mt. Juliet, Tenn., and Nola Adkins and husband Larry of Lesage, W.Va.; a host of
nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews, whom she called her babies and
was always there for from the time they were born. Also surviving are several
uncles, aunts, cousins, and special friends, including Creed Adams who, before
this horrible disease, was indeed a true friend and companion. She also leaves
behind , many friends at Jacksonville Rehabilitation, who made her final year
full and happy. Sharon was a giver and a helper. She would do whatever she could
for anyone. Her heart was the biggest part of her. Rest in peace our mother,
sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend. You will always be with us and someday

SHEARL H. "CHUD" PLYMALE, 83, of Kenova, died
February 12, 2010. He was born in Ceredo on Oct. 15, 1926, the son of the late
James M. and Mabel Smith Plymale. Chud grew up in Ceredo and was a graduate of
Ceredo-Kenova High School, and attended Marshall University. He was a World War
II Army veteran, where he served in the Philippines and Japan. He was a member
of the American Legion Post 93 in Kenova. He served as a 12-year member of the
Wayne County Board of Education and was a past president. He was currently
serving on the Wayne County Housing Authority. Chud was an avid Marshall fan,
who never missed a game. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sallie Hamer
Plymale; and sons, Thomas M. Plymale and Robert H. Plymale and his wife Jennifer
T. Plymale. He is also survived by grandchildren, Lauren E. Plymale, Allison L.
Plymale, Thomas W. Plymale, James J. Plymale and Alexander H. Plymale. He is
also survived by a sister, Doris Plymale Hoke; and brother-in-law, Charles of
Omaha, Neb.; sister-in-law, Gloria A. Hamer; special nephew, John M. Hamer and
wife Paula; and great-niece, Kaitlin Hamer. Other nieces and nephews include

Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, W.Va. Doris was born April 30, 1934, in

She was a 1953 graduate of Rittman High School in Rittman, Ohio. She was a
homemaker. Doris is survived by her husband, Frank Damron; one son, Dale Damron;
two daughters, Tammy (Kay) Davis and Karen Damron; seven grandchildren; brothers

Brown Harper in Van, W.Va. Janet is survived by her long time companion Edward

Adkins, all of Huntington; seven brothers and sisters, Ruth Hobbs, Zella

Elias and Ruth Fry; his uncle Emual and aunt Joyce Adkins, and many more aunts,
uncles, cousins and friends. Ledge was a rare human being, one who lived almost
solely for the love and the company of his family and friends. His short life
brought him pains and struggles that most bodies will never consider, and unto
his very last moments he was a testament to bravery and devotion. He was, in so
many ways, the picture of a perfect strength.

Jessie McCloud. Surviving are his loving wife Janice; children Virgil Newton,
Freda Newton, Robert McCloud, Billy McCloud, Samantha McCloud; step-children
Vickie, Elizabeth, Sue, Michelle, Buddy, Amanda and Christina; 12 grandchildren,
one great-grandson; brothers John McCloud, Randall McCloud, Joe McCloud, Larry
McCloud; sisters Edna Jenkins, Evelyn Heson, Rita Harris, Marie Jacobs and Patty
Bonecutter; special brothers-in-law, Darrell Harris and Ray Jenkins. He was a
veteran of the United States Army, Vietnam, and member of American Legion Post
93, Kenova. The Post Honor Guard will provide military rites at 10:30 a.m. Feb.
21, 2010, at 351 High School Lane, Kenova. He will be remembered by a host of

prior to retirement was employed by Huntington Chrysler Plymouth, Logan Motor
Sales and Logan Auto Parts. He attended church at Logan Church of the Nazarene
and Huntington First Church of the Nazarene. Survivors include his wife of 46
years, Martha Keyser Thacker; three daughters, Kristina (Rod) Proffitt of Logan,
Tamara (Mike Hannah) Thacker and Amy (Dave) McCarty, both of Huntington; six
wonderful grandchildren, Brittany Lee Thacker, Hailee Proffitt, Bradlee (Tiffanny)
Furrow, Bethany Furrow, Alexis Deskins and Alex McCarty; two brothers, Sidney
(Juanita) Thacker and David (Kathie) Thacker; his mother-in-law and

and Hattie Elkins Maynard. She was a school teacher and retired from the Wayne
County Board of Education. Polly graduated from Ceredo Kenova High School and
Marshall College. She was a member of the West Virginia Retired Teachers
Association. Polly was a member of Kenova United Methodist Church and attended
the Loyal Bible Class, and sang in the Golden Chords Choir and quilted with the
Busy Fingers Quilting group. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in
death by her husband, Clarence D. Mullins; four sisters, Bessie Clark, Shirley
Staley, Letty Quate and Virginia LeMaster. She is survived by her daughter Linda
C. Coffee of Chesapeake, Ohio; one step-son, Clarence Mullins Jr. and his wife
Beverly of Osage City, Kan.; one granddaughter, Kathy Lynn Bradach and her
husband Steve of Biwabik, Minn.; one grandson, John A. Coffee of Chesapeake,

from Mildred Mitchell Batemen Hospital as an LPN, having started in 1977 when it

DONNA LEMASTER NAPIER, 70, of Lakin, W.Va.,
formerly of Huntington, W.Va., passed away Saturday, February 20, 2010. Funeral
services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 24, 2010, at the
Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville. Burial will be in Ridgelawn
Memorial Park. She was born September 20, 1939, in Huntington, a daughter of the
late John Napier and Sylvia Terry Napier New. She is survived by her daughter,
Stephanie Saturni of Rockville, Md.; son John Richard Hamilton of Argyle, Texas;
two sisters, Jewell Romine of Huntington and Jeanie Roberts of Pennsylvania;

February 20, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband James E. Michael.

of Michael Grocery Store at Prichard, W.Va., for many years. She was preceded in
death by her parents and foster parents Roy and Blanche Wellman; three brothers,
Forrest, Charles R. and Glendal Lakin. Surviving is a daughter, Carol Masterson
and son-in-law Art Masterson of Lake Worth, Fla.; son Greg Michael and
daughter-in-law Janina Michael of Huntington, W.Va.; three grandchildren, Angela
Lester, Suzanne Masterson and Vincent Masterson all of Lake Worth, Fla.; two
great-grandchildren, Barrett Lilly and Beck Lester; one brother, James Lakin of

W.Va. passed away Sunday, February 21, 2010, in Huntington Health and
Rehabilitation Center. He was born May 19, 1927, in Wayne County, W.Va., a son
of the late Albert and Wyona Collins. He was also preceded in death by his wife,
Ethel Napier Collins on September 6, 2009, and a brother, Ernest Collins. James
was an evangelist. Survivors include his sister Geneva Howard of Proctorville,

WANDA JUNE WARD FRANKLIN, 78, of Kenova, W.Va.,
passed away Sunday, February 21, 2010, at her residence. Funeral services will

born July 8, 1931, in Kenova, W.Va., daughter of the late Frank Eugene and Mabel
Virginia Ward. Wanda was a retired school teacher, having taught in the Wayne
County School System and she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kenova.
She is survived by two daughters, Beth Ann Willis of Coal Grove, Ohio, and
Christy L. Franklin of Huntington, W.Va.; one brother, Carl K. Ward of Kenova;
three grandchildren, Meredith Ashlee Willis, Corey K. Willis and Seth A. Willis;
a very special aunt, Clara Thompson Ward; a special cousin, Carol E. Sutfin; and

JERRY ERVIN SPAULDING, JR., 18 of Kermit, formerly
of Fort Gay passed away Sunday, February 21, 2010, at Three Rivers Medical
Center in Louisa. Jerry was the loving father of Brooklyn and Addison, loving
son, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend. Born October 2, 1991 in Huntington, he
was the son of Jerry and Roberta Pack Spaulding of Kermit. He is preceded in
death by his grandparents, Bill and Della Pack and Ervin Spaulding. In addition
to his parents, he is survived by daughters Brooklyn and Addison, fiancee
Jessica Thompson of Kermit, grandmother, Grethel Conn of Crum; step-grandfather
Bob Richardson of Ohio, brother Benjamin Maynard of Fort Gay, sister Brittany
Maynard Murphy of Stepptown and Betsy Maynard of Kermit, special aunt BB Brenda
Jude, nephews Bryson and Peyton Muncy and; a host of loving cousins. Jerry was
known by many and all, Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb
24, 2010 at New Life Outreach Church in Fort Gay. Rev. Ken Allen will officiate.

GRACE WILSON, 77, of Genoa, W.Va., went to be with
the Lord Tuesday, February 23, 2010. She was born August 4, 1932 in Wayne
County, a daughter of the late Albert and Sadie Artrip Webb. Four brothers,
Warnie Webb, Glenn Webb, Vernie Webb, and Luther Webb also preceded her in
death, along with five sisters, Lizzie Clark, Rachel Whitten, Rhoda Clark, Marie
Wooten, and Ethel Watts. Grace was a homemaker and a member of the Freewill
Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Ross Wilson; three sons, Robert
Wilson and wife Melba, Don Wilson and wife Edna, and Billy Wilson and wife
Darlene, all of Genoa; four grandchildren, Sherry Eaves and husband Jeff of
Genoa, Kelly Wilson of Genoa, Brian Wilson and wife Erin of Ft. Gay, W.Va., and
Billy Wilson II and wife Elisha of Genoa; five great grandchildren, Bret Eaves
and Ciana Eaves, both of Genoa, Melany Wilson and Gabriel Wilson, both of Ft.
Gay, and Billy Wilson III of Genoa, and one additional great grandchild on the
way. Also surviving is one brother, Lindsey Webb of Oak Hill, Ohio; one sister,

CHARLES CRISS NAPIER was an ex-POW of the Korean
Conflict for 37 months. Charles is survived by his wife of 56 years Mary Ann
Napier; two children, Deborah Steele and her husband Walter Steele and Chuck
Napier, both of Huntington. He had five grandchildren, Carrie VanZandt of
Huntington, Terri Croweder of Huntington, Casey Steele of Huntington, Chasity
Johnson of Kentucky and Shawnell Napier of Huntington. He had four
great-grandchildren. Charles is also survived by three brothers Don Napier, Bob
Napier and Elmer Napier and three sisters, Paulette Ross, Catherine Sue Epling
and Nannie Mae Brown. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nathan Napier and
Nannie Napier; two sisters, Helen Etta and Audrey and two brothers Frank Napier
and Nathan Napier Jr. Charles is a member of the Philadelphia United Baptist
Church of Lavalette. He was loved by family, friends and many former ex-POW's
named the "Tiger Survivors." Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m.
Thursday, February 25, 2010, at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Brother Glen Kiah
Williamson. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Huntington.

ETHEL HOLLAND ROSS ADKINS, 86, went to be with her
Lord on Wednesday, February 24, 2010, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House
in Huntington, W.Va. Ethel was born July 27, 1923, to the late William Holland
and Elva Abrams Holland Adkins and was the step-daughter of the late Ronzel
Adkins. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first
husband Charles T. Ross and second husband Arton Adkins. She was a lifelong
resident of Wayne County and had special pride for the town of Ceredo and love
for her neighbors. She retired from the Wayne County Board of Education where
she was employed as a cook for Kenova Elementary School. Ethel, being the oldest
of six children, is also preceded in death by her brothers William "Bud"
Holland, Jack and Sherman Holland, two sisters, Tokie Pridemore Adkins and Wanda
L. Skeens. She is survived by two daughters Patricia (Jennings) Lester and Dinah
(Dale) Ledbetter, both of Ceredo; one step-daughter, Linda (Ed) Hyman of Aurora,
Colo.; three grandchildren, Angela (Tat) Tang of Vancouver, British Columbia,
Canada, John (Crissy) Lester of Huntington, and Nicole (Jimmy) Parker of Ceredo;
two step-grandchildren, Dave (Jenny) Collins, Stephanie (Mitch) Foster, both
from Aurora, Colo.; five great-grandchildren, Tanner and Sydney Lester of
Huntington, Jake and Joey Tang of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada,
Alexandria Dayle Parker of Ceredo who was her special helper that always made
her smile; three step- great-grandchildren, Clayton Collins, Keili and Kelsey
Foster; three special sister-in-laws, Hester Clark, Rebecca and Prissie Holland;
numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Special thanks to cousin and caregiver
Betty Stewart and son-in-law Dale Ledbetter whom she loved for both his patience
and the love he shared with her over the years. Ethel was a faithful member of
the Ceredo Church of Christ (Romans 16:16). Funeral services will be conducted

September 6, 1924, in Pickett County, Tennessee, a daughter of the late Arkley
Brumlo Amonett and Ora Winningham Amonett. In addition to her parents, she was
preceded in death by her husband, Dock Dean Jr.; a son, David "Pete" Dean; a
daughter, Barbara Ann Rayburn; and a brother, Bethel Earl Amonett. She is
survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Michael Little of Ceredo, W.Va.;
daughter-in-law Nell Ann Dean of Port Richey, Fla., and five grandchildren,
Davona Dean (Michael) Gildea of Springfield, Pa., M. Bryan (Sara) Little of

WILMA BLANKENSHIP, 73, of Lavalette, WV, went
running through Heaven on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at her residence. Funeral

Chapel, Wayne by Brother Amos Simmons and Brother Ray Williamson. Burial
followed at the Bartram Cemetery near Fort Gay, WV. She was born August 2, 1936
in Wayne County, a daughter of the late Ralph and Pauline Dean Lester, and
step-daughter to the late Glady Lester. A brother, Ralph Curtis Lester, a
step-brother, Joe Lester, a daughter, Mary Elizabeth and a son-in-law, Bo
Brooks, also preceded her in death. Survivors include her loving husband of 53
years, James Blankenship; a son, Jimmy Blankenship and wife, Barb of Kenova, WV;
daughters Brenda Smith and husband, Don, and Nancy Nutter and husband, Robert,
all of Huntington, WV, Gloria Ferguson and Rita Tanis and husband, Tom, all of

Wayne, WV. She was the grandmother of nine and the great-grandmother of three.
Wilma retired from Foodland in Lavalette, but worked for years at Tri-State

LEWIS NELSON, 83, of Huntington, W.Va., died
Friday, Feb. 26, 2010, at St. Mary's Medical Center. Lewis was born Jan. 7,
1927, in Wayne County, W.Va., a son of the late Andrew and Clercie Queen Nelson.
Lewis retired from Owens Illinois and he was also a farmer. He was a member of
Prichard United Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during
World War II. In addition to his parents, Lewis was preceded in death by his
wife, Mary Marcum Nelson; sisters, Ida Carroll, Cora Walters, Rinda Craigo,
Arvilla Robertson and Northa Walters; and brothers, Steve Nelson and Richard
Nelson. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Lewis Jr. (Virginia)
Nelson of Huntington; three grandsons, Darron (Kathy) Nelson, Brad Nelson and
Evan Nelson; one great-granddaughter, Riley Nelson; one brother, Burman (Mary)
Nelson of Huntington; a host of loving nieces and nephews; and special
caregivers, Aldena Osburn, Kathy Cyrus and Judy Albrect. The family will receive

LAWRENCE W. JONAS, 93, of Kenova, W.Va., died
Saturday, February 27, 2010, at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va.
Lawrence was born November 15, 1916, in Wilsondale, W.Va., a son of the late
Walter W. and Rhoda Browning Jonas. He was a U.S. Army decorated war veteran of
World War II, and was a member of American Legion Post #93 Kenova, whose members
will conduct graveside rites, and Teamsters Local 505. Lawrence retired from the
Keebler Company. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his
beloved wife, Elizza J. Ferguson Jonas, and 11 brothers and sisters. Lawrence is
survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Ida Louise and Roy York of
Hurricane, W.Va., Rhoda Ann and Jim Hale of Knoxville, W.Va., and Peggy and Don
Osburn of Kenova; one son, Lawrence E. Jonas of Kenova; one sister, Lutisha
Frank of Sebring, Fla.; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The

PIERCE, of Wayne, W.Va., who went to be with the Lord Saturday, February
27, 2010. She was born March 22, 1933 in Summers County, W.Va., a daughter of
the late Harry and Ida Foxx. Her husband, Clarence Pierce also preceded her in
death, along with six brothers and four sisters. Illa was a good Christian and
loved the Lord. Survivors include her children, Brenda Jordan, Cindy Pierce and
her fiancé Phillip Adkins who is also a special friend of the family, Bill
Pierce and his wife Teresa, and Willard Pierce and his wife Laura; 14
grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; two-brothers;
and two sisters. The family would like to thank home health tech, Cleo Osbourn
for all the care and love she gave Illa, and also Hospice of Wayne, Hospice
House of Huntington, and all the staff members for the care and support they
