JESSIE JAMES MANNS, 78, of Branchland, W.Va.,
went to be with Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, April 1, 2010, at
the Emogene Dolin Hospice House, Huntington, W.Va. He was a devoted Christian
and a current member of Branchland United Baptist Church, active as much as his
health allowed. He was born January 15, 1932, and was a coal miner all his
working life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucian and Georgie Manns;
brothers Clarence and Challis; sisters Nary Chapman and Martha Brumfield. He
leaves to mourn his passing, his wife of 56 years, Phyllis Winters Manns;
daughter Sandra Manns Ramey (Earl); son Eddie Manns (Linda); son Joey Manns
(Lydia); grandchildren Allen, Angela, Jason, Paige, Nick, Joelle and their
spouses; six great-grandchildren Alex, Alyxis, Christian, Noah, Gabriel and
Riley; four sisters Dellean Davidson, Mabel Cook, Glenith Maynard and Sessie
Manns; four brothers Donald, Ronald, Wondell and Willie; and a host of other
loving family members and friends. The family would like to give a special Thank
you to Carolyn Dyer and Hospice of Huntington for their years of caregiving.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, April 4, 2010, at McGhee-Handley Funeral
Home, West Hamlin, W.Va., with Earl Ramey and Alan Frye officiating. Burial will
follow at Midkiff Cemetery West Hamlin. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m.
Saturday at the funeral home.

TROY DALE BECKELHEIMER, 29, of Huntington, went to
be with the Lord on Thursday, April 1, 2010, at Cabell Huntington Hospital.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, April 5, 2010, at the
Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville. Graveside services will be at 4
p.m. Monday at Lowe Cemetery, Jenny's Creek, Kermit, W.Va. He was born on Dec.
30, 1980, in Columbus, Ohio, a son of Clyde Muncy of Kenova, W.Va., and Debrah
Ann Davis Smiar of Columbus, Ohio. He is also survived by one daughter, Gracie
May Beckelheimer; maternal grandmother, Mae Davis of Columbus, Ohio; five
sisters, Tasha Slone of Huntington, Dana Meadows of Lavalette, Brittany
Beckelheimer of Kenova, Jennifer Beckelheimer of Texas, and Vanessa Crawford of
Heith, Ohio; five brothers, Ronnie Beckelheimer of Columbus, Clyde Fife of
Lavalette, Jessie Fife of Barboursville, Jeff Muncy of Cincinnati, and Wil Bragg
of Huntington; niece, Katelyn Cole; and nephews, Levi Cole, Jordan Beckelheimer,
Dustin Meadows, Ashton Slone, John Slone Jr., Austin Beckelheimer and Clyde Fife
Jr. He was a wonderful father, brother and son, and will be loved and missed by
all. Visitation will be 11 to 1 p.m. Monday at the Wallace Funeral Home,
Barboursville.

DANIEL TODD BROWNING, 60, of Pembroke Pines, Fla.,
formerly of Wayne, W.Va., passed away Saturday, April 3, 2010 at Hospice by the
Sea in Hollywood, Fla., following a long and courageous battle with esophageal
cancer. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 10, 2010,
at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, by Elders Flem Arrowood, Glen Arrowood and
Ted Asbury. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery at Wayne. He was born July
11, 1949, in Huntington, W.Va., a son of Arthur U. and Jeanetta Arrowood
Browning of Wayne. He was the regional business manager for Region IV Department
of Corrections in Florida. His grandparents, Dan and Sallie Finley Browning and
Flem and Lelia Trimble Arrowood, preceded him in death. Additional survivors
include his sister, Arthetta Browning of Lavalette, W.Va.; his brother, Ric
Browning and wife Bev of Wayne; his nephew Michael Taylor and wife Jeanette, and
nieces Sara Queen and husband Jamison and Jessica Hilton and husband Ben.
Jamison Queen, Ben Hilton, David Porterfield, Michael Taylor, Jack C. Dyer Jr.,
and David Fry will serve as pallbearers. Larry Arrowood and Tom Dick will be

BETTY M. WALLACE, 76, of Orrville, OH, went to be
with the Lord Sunday, April 4, 2010 at Orrville Point Nursing Home. Funeral
services will be conducted 11:00 am Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at Morris Funeral
Home Chapel by Elders Ray Williamson and Douglas Watts. Burial will follow at
Dan Wallace Cemetery. She was born September 9, 1933 in Ceredo, WV, a daughter
of the late Luther and Beatrice Bass Pelfrey. Betty was a homemaker and member
of the Good News United Baptist Church. Also preceding her in death were three
daughters, Brenda and Linda Wallace, Patricia Durham; a son, Phillip Wallace; a
grandson, David Tomblin, Jr. Survivors include four daughters, Pauline Rayburn
of Wheelersburg, OH, Debra Rodgers of Mansfield, OH, Barbara Tomblin and
husband, David of Orrville,OH, Nora Durham and husband, Steve of Jackson, OH;
three sons, Roger Wallace and wife, Joann of Painesville, OH, Michael Wallace

SIMON B. "BRUCE" MARCUM, 69, of Huntington, W.Va.,
passed away Monday, April 5, 2010, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, April 9, 2010, at 11 a.m. at the
Reger Funeral Chapel by Rev. Steve Grimes. Entombment will follow at the White
Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, W.Va. Bruce was retired from the City of
Huntington and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Bruce was born on November 30,
1940, in Williamson, W.Va., the son of the late John S. and Lorena Vera Parsley
Marcum. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister
Evelyn Claire Lawrence and two brothers, O. David and William J. Marcum. He is
survived by his wife of 23 years, Cynthia R. Marcum; three sons, JD Marcum of
Cincinnati, Ohio, Shawn H. Marcum and Amie Maynard of Huntington and Todd A.
Marcum of Burlington, Ky.; two grandsons, Nathan and Nicholas; one brother and
sister-in-law, Glenn and Joyce Marcum of Huntington; five sisters and
brothers-in-law, Catherine Meade of Ashland, Ky., Virginia and Leonard Daloia of
Columbus, Ohio, Lucille and Clifton Spandau-Ray of Wake Forest, N.C., and
Barbara and Lawrence Pauley of Huntington, W.Va., and Rita and John Hereford of
Texas. Bruce was a member of American Legion Post 93, DAV Post #2. He was a
River Cities Football official, a longtime member of Spring Valley Country Club,
attended Westmoreland United Methodist Church, was a Kentucky Colonel and
Tennessee Squire. Bruce officiated high school football for 43 years and high
school basketball for 28 years. Bruce also volunteered in various youth leagues
and was a Marshall Thundering Herd supporter. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m.

MRS. ALBERTA KEY, 82, of Kenova, W.Va., died
Monday, April 5, 2010, at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, April 9, 2010, at Kenova
United Methodist Church, of which she was a member, with Rev. Lindsay Thorp
officiating. Burial will follow in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington, W.Va.
Alberta was born March 30, 1928, in Wayne County, W.Va., a daughter of the late
Charles Otis and Faye Helen Turner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded
in death by her husband, Hawley "H.N." Key, two brothers, Charles and Jack
Turner and three sisters, Mary Jane Turner, Dorothy Hoback and Betty DeArment.
Alberta is survived by one son, Benny Key of Kenova; one daughter and
son-in-law, Darla and David Slater of Huntington; one granddaughter and
grandson-in-law, and great-granddaughter, Andi, Jason and Erin Tilly, all of
Florida; one sister and brother-in-law, Geraldine and Robert Tait of Manheim,
Pa.; one brother, John Turner of Kenova. Alberta also had many special nieces,
great-nieces and nephews who all held a special place in her heart. In lieu of
flowers, donations may be made to the Cabell-Wayne Association of the Blind, 38

LEROY ALLEN CAMPBELL SR., 56, of Kenova, W.Va.,
died Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at home. Funeral services will be conducted at noon
Saturday, April 10, 2010, at Rollins Funeral Home, Kenova, with Minister Forest
Cummings officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery, Kenova. Leroy
was born July 13, 1953, in Cabell County, W.Va., a son of Betty Jean Snider
Campbell of Bridgeport, W.Va., and the late Leroy Campbell. He was a Federal
Security Officer for Security Consultants Group. Leroy was a U.S. Navy veteran
and a member of American Legion Post 93 in Kenova, whose members will conduct
graveside military rites. He was also a member of the Big Sandy FOP Lodge 121.
Leroy is survived by his wife, Lois Adams Campbell; three daughters and one
son-in-law, Jeannie Campbell and her fiancé Jerrell Stinson, Renee and Johnny
Carter and Dana Campbell, all of Chesapeake, Ohio; one son and daughter-in-law,
Allen and Destany Campbell of Chesapeake, Ohio; one sister, Mindy Campbell of
Fairmont, W.Va.; two brothers, Rick Campbell of Bridgeport, W.Va., and Roger and
Julie Cornwell of New Orleans, La.; his mother-in-law, Sally Adams of
Chesapeake; six grandchildren, Jaylah, Jazmin, Trey, Davon, Gracie and Malique;

GLENNA MAE COMBS, 94, of Huntington, W.Va., passed
away on Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at her home in Westmoreland. She was born in
Martin County, Ky., the daughter of the late John and Mary Mildred Newman Combs.
Also preceding her in death are her husband Everett M. Combs, daughter and
son-in-law Juanita and Herman Gwinn, son Clifford H. Combs, daughter-in-law Ella
Combs, son-in-law Murray Hunter, and seven brothers. She is survived by three
daughters, Joann Fouch, Sandra Loy and Ruth Hunter; four sons, Everett Combs Jr.
(Joann), Jack Combs (Bertha), Fred Combs (Linda), Ronald Combs (Sandy); 34
grandchildren: 53 great-grandchildren: 18 great- great-grandchildren. Glenna was
a lifelong homemaker and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and
great-grandmother. She was a wonderful and caring person who put smiles on the
faces of everyone who met her. She dedicated her life to God and family, always
being there when she was needed. Her kindness set an example for all those
around her to follow. She will be greatly missed by her friends, family and
loved ones and will be forever remembered in the hearts of those many lives she
touched. Her long and prosperous life is one to be celebrated, as she has been
called to enter the Kingdom of God. Funeral services will be conducted at noon

JOSHUA CALEB TONEY, nine-weeks-old, of Dunlow,
W.Va., went to be with the Lord on April 6, 2010, at Three Rivers Medical Center
in Louisa, KY. He was born on January 29, 2010 in Huntington, W.Va., a son of
Vanessa and Joshua Toney of Dunlow. He is preceded in death by his paternal
grandmother Lovetta Browning. Survivors include his Maternal Grandparents Ireda
Williams and Jesse Muncy of Crum, W.Va.; Paternal Grandmother Sylbia Starbird
and husband Paul of Dunlow, W.Va.; three aunts, Elizabeth Toney of Beckley,
W.Va. and Kathleen Muncy and of Crum, W.Va.; Whitney Copley and husband Jamie of
Stepptown, W.Va.; Ashley Holyfield and husband Jason of Stepptown, W.Va.; five
uncles Joseph Toney and wife Keira of Channelview, TX Lawrence Toney and wife

DOROTHY PEARL SPENCER BELCHER, 85, of Louisa, Ky.
passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2010, at J.J. Jordan Geriatric Center. Funeral
services will be conducted Friday, April 9 at 2 p.m. at the Young Funeral Home
Chapel officiated by Rev. Scott Chandler and Rev. Paul Stepp. Burial will follow
at the Christian Cemetery at Big Hurricane. Dorothy was born Feb. 23, 1925 in
Princess Anne, Md. to the late J.T. Spencer and Otha Berry Spencer. Dorothy was
preceded in death by her husband, Gentry Belcher. She is survived by her two
daughters, Alesha Preece of Inez, Ky. and Lois Young of Fort Gay; one son
Garrett Belcher of Huntington; one grandchild, Mike Young and three

TSUNEKO "SONOMI" PARSLEY, 64, of Wayne, W.Va., went
to be with the Lord Thursday, April 8, 2010. She was born November 12, 1945 in
Okinawa, Japan, a daughter of the late Koyu and Mieko Maehara. One daughter, Kim
Maria Parsley also preceded her in death along with one sister, Noriko
Cleveland. Sonomi was a homemaker and loved studying the Bible. She is survived
by one daughter, Susan Michelle Parsley; three grandchildren, Heather Nicole
Rozelle, Eric Michael Rozelle, and Austin Franklin Tucker; former husband, Bill
Parsley, all of Huntington, W.Va.; and special friend Junko Dyer of Wayne.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Sunday, April 11, 2010 at the Vance

ROSE MARIE YEAGER, 86, of Upper Mud River Road,
Branchland, W.Va., died Thursday, April 8, 2010, at St. Mary's Medical Center.
She was born April 17, 1923 in Sias, W.Va., a daughter of the late Fletcher and
Lizzie Scites Adkins. She was also preceded in death by one brother and two
sisters. She was saved and baptized in St Mary's Medical Center. Praise the
Lord! She is survived by one son, David Yeager; nieces Linda Garnes, Sharon
Lewis, Connie Midkiff, Patty Bellomy, Francis Bellomy and Becky Adkins; nephews
Douglas Adkins, Odell Bellomy, Roger Bellomy and Freddie Adkins. Funeral
services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, April 11, 2010, at Bethel Baptist Church, Sias,
W.Va., with Junior Steward and Milo Cummings officiating. Burial will follow in

JOHNNY LEE SWEENEY, 52 of Orchard St. Fort Gay, WV passed away Friday
April 9, 2010 at his home. Johnny was born May 27, 1957 at Chicago, IL, the son
of the late Earl and Hazel Simonson Sweeney. He was a laborer. Survivors include
three sons Johnny Lee Sweeney Jr., Shawn Michael and Robert; four sisters Cathy
Pennington, Dolly Pennington, Linda Garcia, and Delana Canterbury, and a brother
Tommy Sweeney. A memorial service in honor of Johnny's life will be held at a
later date. Following his wishes, his body was cremated. Arrangements were under
the direction of Wilson Funeral Home, Louisa, KY.

MYRTLE DYER, 98, of Patriot, Ohio passed away on
Friday, April 9, 2010 at the Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis, Ohio. She was
born on March 12, 1912 in Wayne County, West Virginia, to the late Frank and
Tempe Clarke Frasher. She had worked as a seamstress for Huntington Industries,
enjoyed gardening and farming, gospel music and was a member of the Charity
Unity Baptist Church in Huntington. She was married to Robert Dyer and he
preceded her in death in 1998. She was also preceded by two sons Kenneth Dyer in
1979 and Emmette Dyer 2006, and by a great grandson Levi Condee in 2001. She is
survived by a daughter Nola (Jennings) Adkins of Proctorville, Ohio and by a son
Elmer (Emma) Dyer of Patriot; a daughter-in-law Linda Dyer of Patriot; nine
grandchildren including a grandson Michael Dyer who was raised in her home,
sixteen great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren. Funeral
services will be 11 am Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at Willis Funeral Home with
burial following in the Dyer Family Cemetery on Lick Creek Road Wayne County,

DRENNA MICHELLE TURLEY- GONZALES, 40, of Las Negas,
Nev., formerly of Branchland, W.Va., died Friday, April 9, 2010. She was born
July 22, 1969 in Florida, and graduated from Guyan Valley High School before
moving to Las Vegds. She was the daughter of Douglas M. Turley and Wanda K.
Turley of Branchland, W.Va.; the granddaughter of the late Arley Lee and Mary
Virginia Bonar and Redith Mary Turley of Branchland and the late Kennel Turley.
Additional survivors include four children, Michael Ray Douglas Montero, Bethany
Kylan Montero, Cheyenne Skye Martinez, and Savannah Star Martinez; two brothers,
Douglas M. Turley, Jr., and Michael S. Turley; and one sister, Arla LeeAnn
Vance. A celebration of her life will be conducted 7 p.m. Friday, April 16, 2010
at the United Baptist Log Church at Four Mile with Brother Ray Adkins

EARL NAPIER, 64, of Dunlow, W. Va., passed away
Saturday, April 10, 2010 at River's Bend Health Care following a long battle
with cancer. He was born September 14, 1945 at Dunlow, a son of the late Earl
Wallace and Della Napier. Earl served in the United State Air Force in the
Vietnam era and was a retired truck driver. Survivors include his wife, Billie
Jean Napier, of Dunlow; and cousins Roger Fry, Karen Fry, Gayle Harris, and Jim
Napier. A private memorial service will be conducted to celebrate his life.

RALPH DALE ADKINS of Branchland, W.Va., born June
4, 1947, passed away April 12, 2010, at the age of 62-years 10-months and 8-days
old. He was the son of the late William S. "Bill Snag" and Sara A. Triplett
Adkins and a retired coal miner and equipment operator. He is also preceded in
death by an infant granddaughter Marietta Adkins and brother-in-law Billy J.
Kiser. Ralph is survived by two sons, Michael (Dorothy) Adkins of Lucasville,
Ohio and John Spencer Adkins of Branchland, W.Va., one daughter, Billie Jo
Adkins (Keith Littlefield) of Branchland, and their mother Mary Adkins; one
sister, Jo Ann Kiser of Kenova, W.Va.; seven grandchildren, Jacqueline Nicole
Adkins, Michael Dale Adkins Jr., Ashley Nicole Adkins, John Spencer Adkins II,
William Blake Adkins, Sara Kateland Thacker and Kendra Starr Thacker; two
nieces, Tonya Hicks and Jodi Froble; his little dog Lucky and one very special
cousin, Eddie Adkins. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 16, 2010, at

ZELMA WATTS RIGNEY, 86, of Huntington, W.Va., went
to be with the Lord on Monday, April 12, 2010, at the Emogene Dolin Jones
Hospice House. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Beard Mortuary,
Huntington, with The Rev. Robert B. Coleman officiating. Burial will follow in
Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington. She was born August 8, 1923, in Huntington,
a daughter of the late Alvis and Naomi Malcolm Watts. In addition to her
parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Donald Ray Rigney,
an infant brother Richard and two sisters, Ruth Harshbarger and Cynthia Parker.
She was a member of Highlawn Baptist Church and the Koinonia Sunday School
Class. She retired from St. Mary's Hospital with over 20 years of service, and
was a volunteer for 15 years at Altizer Elementary School. Zelma's faith was an
inspiration to her family and friends, she will be sadly missed by those who
survive her, her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Hank Blume of Huntington;
two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Nancy Rigney of Huntington and Mark
and Tammy Rigney of Anna, Ohio; grandsons Michael Todd (Shawn), Andrew Alan and
Donald Alan; granddaughter, Tonya Nicole (Joel) Repouille; great-grandsons,
Bryson and Brady Rigney; brother Joe Watts and a host friends. The family would

ALLAN HUBERT VAUGHAN, 84, of Barboursville, W.Va.,
died Wednesday, April 14,2010, at the Inn at Wyngate Convalescent Center. He was
born May 8, 1925, in Spencer, W.Va., son of the late William Alonzo and Ivada
Clark Vaughan. He was a retired mechanical engineer at INCO. He was a veteran of
the U.S. Navy during World War II, serving in the Pacific. He was past master of
the Wayne, W.Va., Masonic Lodge; member of the American Legion in Charleston,
W.Va; member of the Society of Professional Engineers; was an avid golfer; was a

Campbell. He was a U.S. Navy veteran having served during the Vietnam War and a

graveside rites. He retired from Ashland Marathon after 38 years of service.
Dale loved music and being a member of the C-K Alumni Band. In addition to his
father, Dale was preceded in death by one brother, Dannie Campbell. He is
survived by his loving wife, Billie Lea Carver Campbell; one daughter, Misty
Lynn Davies; two sons, Dale Anthony (Tony) Campbell and Jason Donovan Campbell;

WV Department of Highways and a member of the Beech Creek Church of Christ.

was a graduate of Ripley High School. She was also a librarian for the Wayne
Library from 1972 to 1995 and was instrumental in its growth and move to the
present site on Keyser Street. Mary taught Sunday school at the Wayne Baptist
Church and was involved in the Women's Mission Society. She also served as past
president for the Wayne Woman's Club. Her son, David Arnold Casto, also preceded
her in death, along with two sisters, Aulene Barnette and Mildred Braham; four
brothers, Wade, Lloyd, Clyde and Samuel Boswell. Survivors include her loving
husband of 63 years, Arnold Casto; two daughters, Judith Schullek and husband,
Frank of Worthington, Ohio, Mary Ellen Ray and husband, David of Wayne, W.Va.; a
daughter-in-law, Rev. Bonnie Cassida of Columbia, Mo.; a sister, Ora Thornton of

Lodge No. 11, AF&AM of Guyandotte; and he was a 32nd Degree Mason. In addition
to his parents, He was preceded in death by his first wife, Reba Faye (Thacker)
Ferguson; and two brothers, H. Fred Ferguson and Frank Ferguson, who was killed
during battle of Belgium while serving with the U.S. Army during WWII. Survivors
include his wife of 27 years, Sallie (Wiley) Ferguson; three sons and

OWEN MAURICE YOUNG, 89, of Lowmansville, KY passed
away Friday morning, April 23, 2010, of an extended illness at Kings Daughters
Hospital in Ashland, Kentucky. He was born February 19, 1921. He was born in
Lawrence County Kentucky to the late Thomas Monroe Young and Shirley Nelson
Young. Our beloved father and grandfather went to heaven to be with the Lord
Friday morning. Mr. Young was retired from Armco/AK Steel in 1982 after 38 years
of service. He served in the Army with the 86th Division of the 13th (Black Cat)
Tank Battalion in World War II, he was a 32nd degree Mason, Scottish Rites, and
a Shriner. He was a member of the Walnut Grove Freewill Baptist Church. He was
preceded in death, by his wife Vivian Young, his son Harold Young, his brother
Otto Young and his parents. He is survived by 1 daughter and 4 sons, Diana
Kersey (Greg Wheeler), Don Young (Shirley), Bob Young (Connie), Rick Young
(Susie), and Dean Young (Marie). Daughter-in-law Cora Franklin, 15

FREELIN TOMBLIN, 85, of Huntington passed away
Sunday, April 25, 2010, at the VA Medical Center. He was born January 23, 1925
in East Lynn, a son of the late John Tomblin and Verna Ramey Tomblin. Freelin
had served in the US Army Air Corp during WW II. He was a member of the Walnut
Hills Church of the Nazarene and was an avid bowler at Colonial Bowling Lanes.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters. Survivors include his
wife of 64 years, Lahoma Tomblin, one son Roger Freelin Tomblin Sr. (Gloria) of
Chesapeake, Ohio, two daughters: Janet Ann Simpkins Of Athalia, Ohio, and Teresa
Lee Dial (John) of Huntington. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m.

CHARITY B. STAFFORD, 73 of Genoa, W.Va. passed away
on Sunday, April 25, 2010 at the Emogene Dolin Hospice House. She was born in
Wayne County, W.Va., the daughter of the late Millard Spencer and Alma "Granny"
Wallace. Also preceding her in death was one sister, Goldie Rice, two brothers,
B.H. Spencer and Charles Spencer. Surviving are one daughter, Catherine of

Mike of Dunlow, W.Va.; one sister, Barbara Poindexter of Huntington, W.Va. and

PHYLLIS ANN MAYNARD ROSS, 71, of Huntington, widow
of Blaine Ross, passed away on Monday, April 26, 2010, at St. Mary's Medical
Center. She was born on October 7, 1938 in Huntington, a daughter to the late
Albert and Myrtle Gibson Maynard. She is survived by three sons, Wayne (Teresa)
Ross of Chesapeake, Ohio, Delbert (Melissa) Ross of Huntington, and Brian Ross
of Huntington; one daughter, Gena (Bruce) Lewis of Huntington; two brothers
David (Sue) Maynard of Macedonia, Ohio, and Steve (Susan) Maynard of Rossville,
Ill.; two sisters, Mae Pennington of Huntington and Glenda Maynard of Chicago,
Ill.; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and
friends; and two special friends, Rose Clagg and Duke Jarvis. Funeral services
will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 30, 2010, at Beard Mortuary with
Pastor Bob Withers officiating. Burial will follow at Docks Creek Cemetery.

ELDEAN RAMEY DOSS WELLMAN, 77, surrounded by her
family, was escorted by angels from her home at Verdunville and carried to
Heaven in the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Monday morning, April 26,
2010. Born March 21,1933 in Wayne County, the daughter of the late Thomas P. and
Sarah Malinda "Minnie" Maynard Ramey. Also preceding her in death were four
sisters, Violet Shepherd, Rachel Blankenship, Eloise Ricketts and Doris Ferris
and one brother Zion Wedstel Ramey. Eldean attended schools in Logan County and
received her BA and MA Degrees from Marshall University. She taught school in
Logan County for several years and later went to Mingo County to serve as an
administrator in that school system. She retired in 1995 and spent most of her
leisure time doing local history and family research. She was recognized in 2002
by former West Virginia Governor Bob Wise as a West Virginia History Hero for
outstanding work and significant contributions to the preservation and promotion
of West Virginia history. Eldean is the author of several books including, Our
Pioneer Heritage, The Ramey Tree: 1545-1995, The Sanguinary Era and Life of
Chief John Logan, Widening Your Circles: Genealogy Handbook and Maryetta United
Baptist Church History. She did extensive research on many local pioneer
families in Logan, Mingo, Wayne and Cabell counties. She was a member of several
area genealogy societies and served as secretary for the local genealogy society
as well as recording secretary for Westmoreland Chapter of the Daughters of the
American Revolution of which she was a member. She was honored to serve as a
Logan County Belle in local genealogy society as well as recording secretary for
Westmoreland Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution of which she
was a member. She was honored to serve as a Logan County Belle in 2004-2005.
Most important, Eldean was a Christian. She was a member of the Maryetta United
Baptist Church at Verdunville where she served as church historian. Those left
to cherish her memory include her children: Garry (Marsha) Doss of Verdunville,
Bonita (Rick) Campbell of Beckley, Greg (Diane) Doss of Rock Hill, S.C. and
Dwaine (Diane) Doss of Linn; one sister, Shelah Ramey of Elizabethtown, Ky.;
four brothers, Victor (Pat) Ramey and John B. (Pat) Ramey, both of Chapmanville,
and Cleston (Minnie) Ramey and A.F. (Polly) Ramey, both of Kenova; six
grandchildren, Lyndsey, Erin, Amanda, Stephanie, Heather and William Cole; two
step-grandchildren, Michael and Jody; great-grandchildren, Hailey, Cameron,
Ayden, Aryanna and Alyzabeth; one step-great-grandchild, Lena; many nieces and
nephews, and a host of special church family and friends. Services were held
April 29, at the Maryetta United Baptist Church at Verdunville with the Pastor
Lonnie Gore and Assistant Pastor Barney Goins officiating. Special singers were
Davey Joe Kirkendoll, Chuck Compton and Randy Skeens. Memorial contributions may

JAMES NOLEN "CHIEF", 74, of Genoa, W.Va., went to
rest with the Lord on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at his residence. He was born on
May 31, 1935 in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. James was retired from the Wayne County
Board of Education, and also served in the United States Air Force and was a
member of Lick Creek Baptist Church.He is preceded in death by his parents Mary
Kate Moore Nolen and J.D. Nolen and one sister, Linda Nolen. Survivors include
his loving wife, Zea Nolen, of Genoa, W.Va.; one son, Jimmy Nolen and his wife
Linda of Belpre, OH; and two daughters, Connie Talbert and husband Bill of
Wayne, W.Va., and Mary Ann Ray and husband Ron of Chattaroy, W.Va.; five
grandchildren: James Perry and wife Susan of Genoa, Tammy Chaffin and husband
Jimmy Chafin of Genoa, Jessica Leep and husband Sam also from Genoa, Jason
Pridemore of Wayne, W.Va., and Ryan Nolen of Marietta, OH.; step grandchildren:

JAMES L. KIMBLER, 68, of Ceredo, W.Va. passed away on Tuesday, April 27,
2010 at Cabell Hospital. He had been employed by the State of W.Va. and had been
disabled for several years. He had proudly served his country in the U.S.
Marines. Jim or "Grandad" as he was commonly known especially enjoyed bragging
about his grand kids and watching their sport activities. He was born in Ceredo,
the son of the late David and Mary Ann Carver Kimbler. Surviving him is his
loving wife Elizabeth Wallace Kimbler: three daughters, Teresa Evans (Tony
Pennington), Tina Wooten (Michael) and Tammy Kimbler: six grandchildren,
Anthony, Billy, Autumn, Michael, Stephanie and James: two great-grandchildren,

TONYA SUE (BROCE) MAYNARD, 58, of Ceredo, died
Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at her home. She was born October 13, 1952 in Ashland,
KY to the late Robert Eugene and Eunice Lee (Anderson) Broce. Mrs. Maynard was
an LPN for the VA Medical Center for many years. She was a member of the Belmont
Baptist Church in Ashland, KY and was also a member of the American Legion Post
#93 Auxillary in Kenova. She is survived by her husband Samuel L. Maynard. Other
survivors include a brother Robert Michael and Angela Broce of Ashland; brothers
& sisters-in-law Vivian and Terry Smith, Dave and Angela Maynard, and Homer M.
and Jennifer Maynard; 4 nieces, 10 nephews, and 4 great-nephews along with a
host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was
preceded in death by a brother-in-law Ron Maynard. A memorial service will be

Nancy Osburn Insco Pieta, passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at St. Mary's

MARY ELINER MORGAN of Wayne County passed away
Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at the Hospice House of Huntington. Born September
14, 1941 in McCowell County, Mary was the daughter of the late Arnold and Birdie
Gautier Morgan. She was a graduate of Laeger High School and also a graduate of
West Virginia University where she received both her daughter and graduate
degrees. She became a history teacher at Fairmont State College where she
remained until her retirement in 2002. After retirement, she moved to Wayne
County, W.Va. She developed new friendships by taking ceramics classes and
volunteering as a docent at the Huntington Museum of Art. Mary is survived by
her brother Fred (Gail) Morgan of Matewan, W.Va.; niece, Tracy (Paul) Barrett of
Hebron, Ky.; nephew, Dr. Brett (Robyn) Morgan of Scott Depot; grandnephew,
Tristen Barrett, and grandnieces, Jadyn Barrett, Taylor Barrett, Lila Morgan,
Sophia Morgan and Lora Morgan. She is also survived by a special cousin, Alice
Mertz of Scottsdale, Ariz.; aunt, Marie Morgan of Bluefield, W.Va.; and several
cousins. She leaves behind her beloved pets Beau, Laura, Lila, Goldenrod, Maple
Tree, Matewan and Charcoal. She loved reading, working puzzles, tending to her
flowers and making pottery. She was a unique individual who loved learning and
revered books. Visitation will take place at the Ceredo Kenova Funeral Home from
6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 30, 2010. Interment will take place at Woodlawn
Cemetery in Bluefield, W.Va., at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donation

unexpectedly Wednesday, April 28, 2010. He is survived by his wife, Denise

started his career at Belk Lindsey's for 25 years and then moved on to Heidt &
Associates, Inc. for 20 years and was currently employed with GeoPoint

Wednesday, April 29, 2010 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. He was preceded in

away Thursday, April 29, 2010, in the V.A. Medical Center. Funeral services will

school and served as a deacon. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by
one sister, Delilah Clark, and one brother Marion Snyder. Survivors include two

grandchildren, Jacob Bennett, Jonathan Bennett, Joshua Bennett, Samantha LeGrand

Upland, Calif. Warren was much loved and will be deeply missed by his church

"Doc" McClellan also preceded her in death along with one daughter, Frances
Fitzsimmons; one brother, Tom Watts, Jr.; and one granddaughter, Frances
Fitzsimmons. Survivors include three daughters, Audrey May of Grove City, Oh.,
Eva Craft of Florence, S.C., and Blanche Sanders and her husband Tom of
Lavalette, W.Va.; two sons, Truman McClellan of Genoa, and Larry McClellan and
his wife Darlene of Wayne, W.Va.; one stepson Larkin Joe McClellan of Lockborne,
OH.; 12 grandchildren; and 9 great- grandchildren. Also surviving are two
