(nee Horne), age 78, (death date not given) Beloved wife of Anthony, Loving
mother of Michael (Kathy), Beth Angeloff (Craig), Michelle Clapham (George) and
Mark (Kelly), Cherished grandmother of Anthony, Matthew, Alexa Angeloff, Joseph
and Mary Grace, Dear sister of Ann Smith, Pat Brumfield, Lois McKenzie and the
late Paul Horne and Fred Crockett. Betty is the daughter of Ruby Crockett,
father, Albert Horn. Also survived by nieces, nephews and many dear friends. All

MR. WILLIAM "Bill" D. REYNOLDS, 75, of Prichard,
W.Va., died Monday, August 2, 2010, at his home. He was born January 31, 1935,
in Wayne County, West Virginia, a son of the late Morgan and Elma Riggs
Reynolds. Bill was the produce manager for Tradewell grocery store. He was a
member of Centerville Baptist Church. Bill is survived by his wife, Joyce Davis
Reynolds; one daughter, Kathy Ballengee of Huntington, W.Va.; two sons, Doug
Reynolds of Lexington, Ky., and Deron Reynolds of Prichard; four grandsons, four
great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter; and two brothers, Jim and Steven
Reynolds, both of Huntington. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m.
on Wednesday, August 4, 2010, at Rollins Funeral Home, Kenova, W.Va. Funeral
services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, August 5, 2010, at the funeral
home with Deacon Scott Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Riggs Family

SARAH E. MEEKS DALTON went home to be with the
Lord, at her residence surrounded by her loving family, on August 3, 2010. She
was born November 11, 1938, in Harts, W.Va., the daughter of the late General
and Gladys Meeks. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Dallas Dalton, and
one son, Scott Dalton and companion Pam Eden; one daughter, Tena (Brent)
Townsend; grandchildren, Dustin Dalton, Matthew Wilson and Natalie Wilson; many
loving nieces and nephews, Annette Heffner, Gwen Richmond and Jeffrey Dalton;
sisters, Marie Dunnway, Dollie Griffith and Ethel Dalton; one brother, Gary
Meeks. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Don Meeks, Leonard Atkins,
Jess Meeks, Carlos Meeks and Ike Meeks, and four sisters, Gracie Kinser, Marge
(Toppings) Marcum, Carrie Walker and Yantus Davis. Funeral service will be 2
p.m. Friday, August 6, 2010, at McGhee-Handley Funeral Home, West Hamlin, W.Va.
The burial will follow in the Browning Cemetery, Harts, W.Va. Friends may call

J. B. FERGUSON, 84, of Fort Gay, W.Va., passed away
Tuesday, August 3, 2010, at his home. He was born August 17, 1925, in
Holdenville, Okla., a son of the late James Ben and Barbara Graham Ferguson. He
was retired Staff Sergeant for the United States Army. He was a veteran of World
War II and a member of Fort Gay Baptist Church. Survivors include his loving
wife of 34 years, Mary E. Lemaster Ferguson of Fort Gay, W.Va.; two daughters,
Gwinn Luna of Farmville, Va., and Barbara Whitehorse of Baxter Springs, Kan.;
three sons, Mike (Kaye) Ferguson of Kenova, W.Va., David (Colleen) Lemaster of
Fort Gay, W.Va., and Steven (Donna) Lemaster of Denver, Colo.; three sisters,
Jerri Castle of Seattle, Wash., Patty Henwood, also of Seattle, Wash., and
Beverly Stretator of Wewoka, Okla.; one brother, Frank Ferguson of Pueblo,
Colo.; 14 grandchildren, Sean Ferguson, Emily (Drew) Hinchman, Philip Land,
Chloe and William Lemaster, Ryan Lemaster, Jason Black, Kim Hostetter, Aaron,
Grey and Deanette Luna, Dwayne, Shane and Tavis Fakourey; 10

RUBY MELBA MERRITT, our loving mother and
grandmother, made heaven her home on August 3, 2010. A Celebration of her Life
will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, August 6, 2010, at Beard Mortuary,
Huntington, by Pastor Phil Wilson. Burial will follow at Ridgelawn Memorial
Park. Ruby was born March 1, 1918, the daughter of the late Perry W. and Beulah
Moore Higginbotham. She was a retired nurse, serving Huntington Hospital and C&O
Hospital during her career. She was preceded in death by the father of her
children, Chester F. Melba; second husband, Paul F. Merritt; and her brothers,
Ernest and Don Higginbotham. Ruby is survived by her daughter, Beulah (Dick)
Dilworth of Huntington, and her son, Joseph P. (Kay) Melba of Moore, S.C.;
grandsons, John (Kay) Melba, Scott (Courtney) Melba, David Guinn, Michael
(Janet) Guinn and Matthew (Kimberly) Guinn; and great-grandchildren, Morgan,
Jadon, Makayla, Hailey, Justin, Brittney and Heather Guinn, and Haley and Cohn
Melba. Ruby's loving heart and kindness will long be cherished by her family,
friends and her special church family at Harmony United Methodist Church.

BETTY JEAN MOORE, 81, of Kenova, passed away in
Huntington Health & Rehabilitation Center on Tuesday, August 3, 2010. She was a
homemaker who was born in Radnor, W.Va. the daughter of Patrick Henry and Grace
(Hundley) Meek. Also preceding her in death were siblings: Jay V. Meek, Kay
Meek, Fredis Edelinski and Ruth Helen Booton. Surviving are her children, Bernie
L. Moore, of Pritchard, Thomas Rodney Moore, of Kenova, Lana G. Litteral, of
Louisa, Ky., LuAnn Moore, of Kenova, Roy "Mack" Moore of Kenova, Patrick Moore
of Lexington, Ky.: Sisters, Lucille Shamblin of Charleston and Mamie Ferguson of
Kenova. There will be no visitation or services. Ceredo-Kenova Funeral Home is

VINSON STEELE, JR. 69, of East Lynn, W.Va., went to
be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at the Emogene Dolin Hospice House
in Huntington, W.Va. He was born on May 5, 1941, in East Lynn and was a member
of Steele Memorial Freewill Baptist Church and retired from the West Virginia
Department of Highways. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vinson Steele,
Sr. and Lizzie Frye Steele; three brothers, Curtis Steele, Claudie Steele and
Andrew Steele; and two sisters, Agnus Steele and Ruby Skeens. Survivors include
his wife, Dottie Lou Vanhoose Steele of East Lynn, W.Va.; one son, Bryan (Joann)
Steele of Wayne, W.Va. and one daughter, Selena (Jackie) Adkins of East Lynn;
two grandchildren, Jackie Adkins, Jr. and Sarah Adkins both of East Lynn; three
nephews, Charles (Estill) Skeens of Wayne, Farren Skeens and Douglas Skeens;
seven nieces, Rosie (Gary) Porter of East Lynn, Sue Moore of Lavalette, W.Va.,

ROBERT BROWN of Louisa, husband of Anita Brown,
died after an extended illness at his home on Sunday, August 4 at 2 p.m. at the
First United Methodist Church in Louisa.Burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery in
Louisa. Robert was born in Letcher County, Kentucky on June 30, 1946 to the late
Jack and Irene Brown. He married the former Anita Marcum of Louisa on August 2,
1969. During their 41 year marriage they were blessed with a daughter Marla and
two grand-children, Easton and Laura. Robert earned his BS degree from Morehead
State University, an MBA from Marshall University and was a graduate of Kentucky
Banking School and the Ohio Banking School. He had an extensive career in
banking beginning in 1970 as a teller at the First National Bank in Louia where
he progressed to Chief Executive Officer and Manager of the Home Federal Savings
and Loan Bank where he retired in December 2008. Since his retirement he has
served on the Board of Directors at the Louisa community Bank. In addition to
his wife Anita, he is survived by his daughter Marla Tobia and her husband
Scott, and their two children, Easton and Laura of Apollo Beach; a sister Violet
Watts and her husband Bernard of Blackey, Kentucky; a sister and brother-in-law
Rose Marie and Brownie Murray of Fort Gay, neices and nephews: John Watts and
his wife Anita and their daughter Jade of Perry County, Neil Watts of Blackey,
Kentucky, Elain Desario and her husband David and their son Alex of Louisa and a
multitude of friends. Friends may make donations in Robert's honor to the First
United Methodist Church in Louisa.

On August 4, 2010, CLESTON C. RAMEY, born September
10, 1927, to Thomas Pat and Sarah "Ninnie" Ramey, went home to be with his Lord
and Savior, Jesus Christ. He passed quietly at home surrounded by family and
close friends. Cleston is preceded in death by his parents; six sisters, Rachel
Blankenship, Violet Shepherd, Connie Ramey, Eldean Doss Wellman, Eloise Ricketts
and Doris Parris; two brothers, Conard Ramey and Zion Ramey; two grandsons, W.
Wade Whitt and Brian Crank. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years,
Minnie Carolyn Adkins Ramey; a very special grandson, Shannon Crank, who lived
with them and cared for them; two sons, Dana Marshall (Peggy) Ramey, Kevin Lee
(Wanda) Ramey; five daughters, Marsha Diane (Roger) Napier, Carla Jean (Jim)
Jackson, Rhonda Jeanine (Don) Russell, Judith Carol (Brady) Workman and Vanessa
Jo (Rick) Bozeman. Cleston was very proud of his 16 grandchildren, 14
great-grandchildren, as well as a great- great-grandchild. He is also survived
by one sister, Shelah Ramey; three brothers, John Ramey, Victor Ramey and Ace
Ramey, along with many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be after 11 a.m. on
Friday, August 6, 2010, with services beginning at 2 p.m., at Wallace Funeral
Home & Chapel, Barboursville. Interment at the Adkins family cemetery
immediately following the service. Smokey Carpenter will be officiating all
services.

Jimmyl Cavins. Roxie was born January 10, 1965 in Louisa, Ky. to the late John
Cecil Robinette and Shirley B. Winchell. She is survived by her mother, Shirley
Johnson; husband Charles Daniel; daughters Jordan and Becky Daniel, all of Fort
Gay; sisters Lucinda Jordan of Fort Gay and Bonnie and Brenda Robinette of Ohio,
Frankie Lynn Waller Pack and Virge Henry Robinette of Fort Gay; brothers Steve

FRANK ROWE, 87, of Salt Rock, WV passed away August
4, 2010 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington. Funeral services

Wayne by Elder Tony Clay. Burial followed at the Edgar Maynard cemetery, Big
Lynn, WV. Born April 4, 1922, Frank was a son of the late Dewey and Martha
Dingess Rowe. Also preceding him in death is his step-mother, Rhoda Rowe; two
brothers, Donald and James Rdwe; two sisters, Sylvia Clark and infant Sarah
Rowe. Frank was a proud Army veteran of WWII, an employee of Yellow Trucking
Company, and a member of the East Lynn Baptist Church.. Survivors include his
wife, Donna Parsons Rowe; four step daughters, Linda Watson, Ann Dempsey, Jeanie
Parson of Wayne, WV, Denise Parson of Salt Rock, WV; four step sons, Allen
Parsons of Salt Rock, WV, Forrest Parsons of Salt Rock, WV, David Parsons of
Salt Rock, WV, Russell Parsons; two sisters, Dorothy Mills and husband Brian of
Wayne, WV, Freda Moon and husband Frank of Genoa; three brothers, Dewey Jr. and

follow at the Cox Cemetery, Genoa. She was born February 7, 1920, at Crum,
W.Va., a daughter of the late Melvin and Olive "Ollie" Mills Crum. She was a
homemaker and member of the Echo United Baptist Church. Her husband, Allie James
Cox, a son, Melvin Cox, and her twin sister Nannie Mae Dingess, also preceded
her in death, along with a daughter-in-law, Roxie Cox. Survivors include two
sons, Kenny Cox and wife Linda of Genoa, and Colen Cox and wife Belinda, of
Wayne; five grandchildren, including a special granddaughter, Angie Riggio and
husband Jason, with whom she made her home; four great-grandchildren; and a
nephew, Hobert Crum. The family would like to extend thanks to a special

MARY ANN WARD FERGUSON MYERS, 81, of Huntington,
W.Va., formerly of Kenova, W.Va., died Thursday, August 5, 2010, at St. Mary's
Medical Center in Huntington. She was born March 26, 1929, in Wayne County,
W.Va., a daughter of the late, Homer Lee and Ethel Roberta Frazier Ward. She
retired from Owens-Illinois. Mary Ann attended the Underwood Senior Center. In
addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William
Ferguson Jr., and one brother, Morris Lee Ward. Mary Ann is survived by one son
and daughter-in-law, David and Gloria Ferguson of Huntington; one grandson,
Brian Ferguson of Dallas, Texas; one granddaughter, Alisha Ferguson of
Charlotte, N.C.; one great-grandson, Alex Johnson of Evans, Ga.; one sister,
Barbara Walker of Lexington, Ky.; one brother, John Ward of Wilmington, N.C.,
and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m.

MARION DIALS SWANN, 83, of Huntington, W.Va.,
loving mother and grandmother, entered Heaven Friday, August 6, 2010, at Madison
Park in Huntington. Graveside services will be conducted at noon, Wednesday,
August 11, 2010, at Woodmere Memorial Park Abby of Remembrance on Norway Avenue,
Huntington. She was born April 6, 1927, in Huntington, a daughter of the late
Alfonza Perry and Ethel Rae Mangus Nicely. Marion was a retired cook at Cabell
Huntington Hospital. Her first husband, Bill Dials, preceded her in death, along
with her second husband, Glenn Swann, a sister, Edith Burke and a brother, Bobby
Nicely. Survivors include a daughter, Sarah Cornwell and husband Charles of
Lavalette, W.Va.; a son, George E. Dials and wife Pamela of Santa Fe, N.M.; four
sisters, Janice Lusk of Huntington, Judy Lewis of Proctorville, Ohio, Betty
Swann and Jean Frederick, both of Huntington; three brothers, Russell Perry of
Knoxville, Tenn., Jerry Nicely of Florida, Clyde Nicely of Huntington; four
grandchildren, Bill Dials, Heather McElhinny, Don Cornwell and Lisa Desmond;

GARY LEE DAVIS, SR., 55, of East Lynn, W.Va., went
home to be with the Lord Friday, August 6, 2010. He was born May 27, 1955 a son
of the late Mary Etta Davis, and was a retired timber man. Survivors include his
wife of 31 years, Linda Mills Davis; one beloved son, Gary Lee (Ce Ce) Davis,
Jr.; and two beautiful grandchildren, Shelly Evon Davis and Gary Lee Davis III
all of Huntington, whom Gary loved very much. Also surviving are two brothers,
William Larry (Ruthie) Davis of Barboursville, W.Va., and Norwood Clay of East
Lynn; one very special sister, Joyce Brunty of Branchland, W.Va.; and several
nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the
staff of the Emogene Dolin Hospice House of Huntington, and Edwards
Comprehensive Cancer Center for their wonderful care and support. Funeral

CHARLES T. PLYMALE, 63 of Huntington, W.Va., loving
father and brother, who was always there for his family, passed away August 7,
2010, at his residence. He was born January 2, 1947 in Cabell County, W.Va., a
son of the late Marshall C. and Effie Elizabeth Bloss Plymale. Also preceding
him in death was his life partner Roberta D. Plymale and one brother, Floyd M.
Plymale. Charles was a former employee of Owens-Illinois Glass Company. Funeral
services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 11, 2010, at the Reger
Funeral Chapel, Huntington. Burial will follow in Spring Valley Memory Gardens,
Huntington. Survivors include one son, Michael Scott Plymale and one daughter,
Melissa D. Taylor, both of Huntington; three grandchildren, Jonathan Scott
Taylor, Dana Shawn Taylor and Scott Anthony Thompson; three great-grandchildren,
Austin Scott Taylor, Brayden Shawn Taylor and Braylon Matthew Taylor. In
addition, he is survived by one brother, Ronald Plymale and one sister and
brother-in-law, Erma and Steve Fitz, all of Huntington, as well as a host of

MICHAEL RANDOLPH JONES, 46, of Genoa, W.Va., went
to be with the Lord Monday, August 9, 2010. He was born January 16, 1964 in
Coshocton, Ohio, a son of Elizabeth Juanita Vaughan Jones of Genoa, and the late
Charles Chester Jones. One brother, Charles Eugene Jones also preceded him in
death.In addition to his mother, survivors include four brothers, Jimmy Verhovic,
Todd and Eugene Colentine of Coshocton, Ohio, and Walter V. Aldridge of Olmstead
Township, Ohio; and a host of loving friends and neighbors. Mike worked in the
construction industry and loved riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. A special
thanks is extended to his aunt Norma Burgess and family. Funeral services will

HUBERT GLEN CLINE, 80, of Wayne, W.Va., died
Monday, August 9, 2010, at the Huntington VA Medical Center. Funeral services
will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, August 13, 2010, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel
by Elder Matthew Stepp. Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Wayne. He was
born December 31, 1929, in Wayne, a son of the late Clarence and Hazel Ross
Cline. Hubert was a retired high lift operator for Owens-Illinois and a U.S.
Navy veteran, having served in the Korean War. He was also a member of the Big
Creek Baptist Church, was a 32nd Degree Mason, Wayne #18 AF&AM and a member of
the Huntington Scottish Rite Bodies. Also preceding him in death was his first
wife, Verla M. Cline; three brothers, Willis Gene Cline, Ted F. Cline and Ronnie
M. Cline; a grandson, Jonas Hayden McCloud; and a daughter, Evelyn McCoy.
Survivors include his loving wife, Bertha Moore Merritt Cline; five daughters,
Tara Cline McCloud and husband Jason of Grayson, Ky., Elaine Shannon and husband
Ed of Elgin, Ill., Rhonda Childers of Kenova, W.Va., Deborah Merritt of Wayne,
Myra Stewart of Catlettsburg, Ky.; a son, Robert "Buddy" Fannin and wife
Carletta of Lavalette, W.Va.; seven sisters, Mildred Cline of Wayne, Lucille
Eagleston of Florida, Pat Lucas of Upland, Calif., Emma Gay Banks of Rancho

Valley Memory Gardens, Huntington. She was born December 31, 1936, in Cabell
County, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Oscar T. and Grace Curnutte Lewis.
She was a retired hairdresser and a longtime member of Washington Baptist
Church. Survivors include her husband Frederick J. Flowers; one son, Keith
Flowers of Huntington; and two daughters, Cathy (Jimmy) Dabney of Milton, W.Va.,
and Debbie (Mike) Donahoe of Delbarton, W.Va. In addition, four grandchildren
survive her, Sheri (Nic) Taylor, Brett Dabney, Bridgette (Jason) Freeman and
Jason Donahoe; and four great-grandchildren, Peyton and Faith Taylor and Caiden
and Candra Freeman. She is also survived by three sisters, Janice Shy and Judy
Bledsoe, both of Huntington, and Joan Tomblin of Orville, Ohio; a host of nieces

to be with the Lord Friday, Aug. 13, 2010. He was a retired lumber inspector and
was pastor of the Kermit United Baptist Church. He was born Aug. 13, 1935, in
Mingo County, W.Va., the son of the late Grover C. and Dolly (Carter) Brewer. He
was preceded in death by four brothers, Calvin Brewer, Tony Brewer, Nile Brewer
and James Brewer. Survivors include his beloved wife, Betty Sue (Parsley)
Brewer; one son, Gary Lee Brewer of Kermit, W.Va.; two daughters, Wanda (Danny)
Weddington and Tammy (Johnny) Marcum, all of Kermit, W.Va. In addition, three
grandchildren survive him, Brittany (Jason) Dials, Lindsay Weddington and
Jessica Brewer; and one great-grandchild, Danica Jae Dials. He is also survived
by two sisters, Nora Spaulding and Loretta Brewer; and one brother, Melvin
Brewer, all of Kermit, W.Va.; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral
services will be held Monday, Aug. 16, 2010, beginning at 1 p.m. at the Kermit
United Baptist Church with the Rev. Jack Small and Rev. Paul Messer conducting

VERNON LEROY BOLEN, 73, of Huntington, and widower
of the late Mary Elizabeth Bolen, passed away Aug.13, 2010, at the Veterans
Hospital. He was born Feb. 4, 1937, the son of the late Jewell Anoka Gussler and
Elisha Bolen. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sons,
an infant and Roger Eugene Bolen; three brothers, Arthur, Donald and George
Bolen; two grandsons, Jacob Bolen and Delbert L. Christopher; and a
sister-in-law, Julia Bolen. Mr. Bolen was retired from the Marine Corp after
serving his country 30 years. He was also a member of the American Legion Post
93 in Kenova. Surviving him are two daughters, Nancy S. Bolen and Mabel A.
Christopher; three sons, Charles (Patricia) Beckelheimer, Vernon L. Bolen Jr.,
Walter C. (Tammy) Bolen, all of Huntington. Additional survivors are his
siblings, sisters, Maggie L. McNeely, Myrna J. Arrowood and Wanda L. Dingess,
all of Huntington, and Norma K. Cignoni of South Point, Ohio; brothers, Curtis
E. Bolen of Florida, Richard A. Bolen of Rhode Island and James F. Bolen of
Barboursville. Mr. Bolen also leaves 10 grandchildren and five

High School graduate. He was a retired AFL-CIO Local 543 and Operating Engineer
Local 132. He was a 36-year member of Bethlehem United Baptist Association. He
was a member of Booten Millers Fork United Baptist Church. He served as pastor
of many churches through his Christian life. He was preceded in death by sons
Todd Edward Davidson and Johnny Mac Davidson. Survivors include his wife of 46
years, Lorene Carol Smith-Davidson; two daughters, Valerie and husband Corky
Cline, Kelly and husband Daren Adkins and son Cody Davidson and wife Rene, all
of Wayne; grandchildren Adam, Amber, and Andrew Cline, Kassie Davidson, Emily
Conner, Harley Davidson and Gabe Davidson; two great-grandchildren, Hannah and
Hunter Bryant; five girls, Corie, Liz, Phe-Phe, Amber, Deanna and Laynie, who

BILLY JACK DROWN, 77, of Kenova, W.Va., husband of
Elizabeth Billups Drown, passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2010, at the Emogene
Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington. A memorial service will be conducted at
6 p.m. Saturday at the Kenova United Methodist Church by Rev. Lindsay Thorpe. He
was born November 20, 1932, in Wayne County, W.Va., a son of the late Delbert
and Exa Drown. He was retired from the construction industry. In addition to his
parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Delbert and Oscar Drown. In
addition to his wife, survivors include three daughters Jackie (Phill)
Rutherford, Roxanne (Mickey) Fizer and Elizabeth (Jeb) Ryder; five grandchildren
and their spouses Joshua (Elizabeth) Rutherford, Billy J. (Kelly) Rutherford,
Brandon (Lori) Fizer, Abby (Alex) Walls and Cody Ryder; five great-grandchildren
Annie Rutherford, Madison and Savannah Fizer, Liam Rutherford and Addison Walls;
three sisters, Dale (Donnie) Powell, Lula Mae (John) Fannin and Rebecca
(Everett) Mannon; a host of nieces and nephews, and his special hunting friends

ZONA L. KERNS, 93, of Kenova, W.Va., widow of James
L. Kerns, passed away Wednesday, August 25, 2010, at the Emogene Dolin Jones
Hospice House of Huntington. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m.
Saturday at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Rev. Jerry Chapman. Burial will follow
in Hillcrest Cemetery, Kenova. She was born December 29, 1916, in Wayne County,
W.Va., a daughter of the late Harkins and Sylvia Sellards Fry. Zona was a
retired employee of the former National Steel Mattress Company of Huntington.
She was a member of the Open Door Baptist Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of the
American Legion Post #93 of Kenova. In addition to her husband and parents, she
was preceded in death by a son, Robert Delano Watts; granddaughter Joyce Helming
and two brothers and two sisters. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law,
Larry and Debbie Kerns of Arkansas; and three daughters, Carol Sue Kerns Fields
and her husband Paul Fields of Ohio, Sandra Katie Myrtle and her husband Michael
Myrtle of Rockwell, N.C., and Dina Stewart and her husband Arlo Stewart of
Kentucky; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 14 great-
great-grandchildren; a brother Homer Fry of Huntington, W.Va., and her sister

EARL BURNS, 79 of East Lynn passed away Wednesday,
August 25, 2010 at St. Mary's Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted
2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 29, 2010 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel by Minister
Eddie McComas. Burial will follow at the Burns Cemetery, East Lynn, WV. He was
born, April 26, 1931 in East Lynn, WV, a son of the late William Henry and Okle
Clara Stephens Burns. He was a self-employed timber man and a Baptist by faith.
Two sisters, infant Gladys Burns and Eula Burns also preceded him in death,
along with a brother, Thomas Harold Burns. Survivors include two sisters, Josie
"Sis" Triplett of Branchland, WV, Sylvia Sue McComas of Branchland, WV; two
brothers, James Burns and wife, Phyllis of East Lynn, WV, William Henry Burns,

DORIS GATES PERDUE, 94, of Danville, Indiana,
formerly Indianapolis, died August 31, 2010. Doris was born January 10, 1916, in
Huntington, West Virginia, to Clarence E. and Georgia Hagar Gates. Doris married
Raymond John Perdue on December 25, 1932 in Lavalette, West Virginia. Mr. Perdue
preceded her in death along with a grandchild, Melanie Lynne Perdue Ortiz. Doris
is survived by her children, Carol (Harold Eugene) Middleton, Raymond Glenn
(Dorothy Pauline) Perdue and Loundle Joe (Alice) Perdue, and her grandchildren,

JOE GOODWIN PRESTON, 65 of Prichard, W.Va., died
Tuesday, August 31, 2010, in the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington,
W.Va., while surrounded by a host of loving family, friends and compassionate
caregivers. Born August 12, 1945, in Riterwood, Ala., he was the third son of
the late Goodwin Wayne and Nola Preston. In addition to his parents, he was
preceded in death by his sister Judy Dickerson. He is survived by his wife JoAnn;
one daughter, Kathy Liston (Richard) of Ft. Richardson, Ark.; one son, Dan of
Grayson, Ky.; and six grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers,
Bernard of Genoa, W.Va., Don of Huntington and Jerry of Kenova, W.Va.; one
sister, Janie Runyon of Genoa; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Joe
made a generous donation to the health sciences community through the Marshall
University Human Gift Registry so that he may become a source of life for
others. There will be an informal memorial gathering at the First Independent
