Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11
a.m. at Higgins- Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel for
CHARLES D. ADKINS, 73, who passed away early Sunday
morning (date not given) at his home. Charles was born March 21,1937, in Wayne
County, W:Va., the son of Charley and Theora (Gilkerson) Adkins. Charles served
in the United States Army, during Vietnam. He retired from GM as a die setter.
He was a member of Church of Christ. He was also a member of the Mahoning County
Coon Hunters Association and the Masonic Lodge. He received the Golden Music
Award for blue grass music from the House of Delegates in West Virginia. He
currently has an album in the Smithsonian Institute. His wife, the former Judith
A. Rutherford, whom he married June 29,1968, passed away April 9,1995. He leaves
a son, Richard (Sabrina) Hodges of West Virginia; a stepson, Danny Lane of West
Virginia; five sisters, Leola Mills of West Virginia, Mazel Ross and Nellie
Adkins, both of Waverly, Ohio, Melita Adkins Wooten and Velora Frasher, both of
West Virginia; two brothers, Wetzel (Wanda) ' Adkins of Kentucky, and Lowell
(Joyce) Adkins of West Virginia; two grandchildren; and five step-
grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a stepson,
Marty Lane; three sisters, Delsie, Juanita and Polly Ann; and his loving
companion, Jackie Willison. Charles' family would like to thank his special
friends, Debbie, Tammy, Don and Sue, and many other dear friends for all of
their care. Family and friends may call Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral
home. Burial will take place at Green Haven Memorial Gardens.

MARY JANE WATTS, 73, of East Lynn, WV, went to be
with the Lord on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at Wayne, WV. Funeral services
were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 5, 2010 at Morris Funeral Home
Chapel, WV, by Elder Sam Frye. Burial followed at Community Memorial Gardens at
Wayne. She was born September 30, 1936 in Boone County, WV, a daughter of the
late Ottie Clyde and Chloey Mae Myers Bennett. Her husband, Robert Watts, two
sons, Robert and Bobby Glenn Watts, two sons-inlaws, Robert Merchant and; Johnny
Adkins, a grandson, Darryl Joe Maynard, II, three brothers, Bobby Whitman
Bennett, Phillip Martin Bennett, and Emmitt Kyle Bennett, a nephew, Alfred Lee
Mitchell, and a niece, Donna Jean Highland also preceded her in death. Survivors
include seven daughters, Carolyn (Dean) Smith of Maryland, Lois Jean (Till)
Aliff of Genoa, Diania Merchand of Prichard, Roberta (Bob) Wallace of Wayne,
Betty Adkins of Wayne, Wanda (Daryl) Maynard of Wayne, Cathy (Greg) Perise of
Frederick, MD; three sisters, Adina M. Mitchell of Cleveland, OH, Jen•i (Dwayne)
Hiland of Kansas City, MO, Annabelle (Dorman) Ixos of Warsaw, HO, and Glenn
Bennett of Cleveland, OH; ten grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren. She
will be dearly missed and loved by her family and host of friends.

ARTHUR JOSEPH "A. J."
WILLIAMSON, 36, of Kenova, died Wednesday, September 1, 2010. He was born
July 1, 1974 in Steubenville, Ohio, to Arthur Edward Williamson and Pamela Kay
(Dean) Johnson. He is survived by his wife, Angela; his children, Devin
Williamson, Kolton Kitchen, Tessa Ekers, Kourtney Ekers, Jaron Ekers, Brandy
Hooks, Ashley Williamson, Jessica Weisberger and Christopher Williamson.
Additional survivors include two sisters, Vondalynn Jean Atwell and Tracy
Birmingham; a brother, Jason Williamson; a grandmother, Vonnie Williamson;
several aunts, uncles and a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. Williamson
was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Ekers, paternal grandfather, Arthur
Junior Williamson, and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Dean. Funeral
services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 4, 2010, at the
Ceredo-Kenova Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Docks Creek Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon until time of service at the funeral home.

BILL "WILLIAM" COPLEY,
93, of Lavalette, W.Va., went home to be with his Savior on Friday, Sept. 3,
2010, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, W.Va. Visitation
will be at Morris Funeral Home on Sunday, Sept. 4, 2010, from 5 to 8 p.m.
Services will be conducted at Morris Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m. Monday,
Sept. 6, 2010, with Elders Leo Maynard, Buster Maynard and Lucian Nelson of the
Bethlehem Association officiating. Burial will follow at Silos D. Copley
Cemetery, Dunlow, W.Va. Bill was born the oldest of seven children on July 22,
1917, in the Sweetwater area of Dunlow, W.Va., to the late Wayne and Fairabell
(Maynard) Copley. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence Copley;
and a sister, Marie Copley. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years,
Biddie (Lawson) Copley; five children, (son) Jennings L. (Kimberly A. Miller)
Copley of Ona, W.Va.; (son) William A. (Pamela Sue Clay) Copley of Wayne, W.Va.;
(son) Ronald D. (Terri L. Lycans) Copley of Carabelle, Fla.; (daughter) Connie
S. (Copley) (James G. Lycans Jr.) Lycans of Providence Forge, Va.; (son) James
W. (Shelia C. Hodge) (Skaggs) Copley of Catlettsburg, Ky.; five sisters, Sadie
(Copley) Martin, and Delsie (Copley) (Auxier) Maynard of Altizer Addition
Huntington, W.Va., Wilda May (Copley) Walden of Huntington, W.Va., Rosalee
(Copley) Maynard of the Sweetwater area of Dunlow, W.Va., and Doris Jean
(Copley) Walden of Huntington, W.Va.; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren;
scores of nieces and nephews, close friends and relatives. His six grandsons
will be his pallbearers. He served in the CCCs prior to World War II and proudly
served in World War II as a MP (military police) and a top turret gunner on the
B-17 Flying Fortress assigned to the 457th Bombardment Group of the Mighty
Eighth Air Force in the European Theatre of the war. He was promoted to the rank
of technical sergeant, flew 14 missions prior to the end of the war and was
awarded two Bronze Stars and an Air Medal. He met the love of his life in
Delbarton, W.Va., after the war, and started their family. He is a member of the
Philadelphia United Baptist Church in Lavalette, W.Va. He was a retired member
of Teamster Local No. 505. He was a truck driver for Case Driveway in
Huntington, W.Va., and moved heavy equipment for Union Boiler Company of Nitro,
W.Va. He loved his family, friends, riding his four-wheeler and enjoyed
listening to and telling good stories. He broke his hip in January 2010 and went
through successful rehabilitation at Health South and Wayne Rehabilitation. The
family wants to thank the Veterans Administration Medical Center for their
continued support and the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House for their loving
care in his time of need. In honor of our father, the family wishes that in lieu

TERRY WAYNE PARSLEY,
48, of 194 Hayes St., Harmony, N.C., passed away suddenly at his home, Friday,
Sept. 3, 2010. He was born April 11, 1962, in Jacksonville, Fla., he was the son
Carl Lester Parsley of Crum, W.Va., and the late Lily Belle Crum Parsley. Mr.
Parsley worked as a maintenance technician, and was also a member of Liberty
Baptist Church. In addition to his mother, he was also preceded in death by a
sister, Shirley Baisden. In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife,
Mary Jeanette Rankin Parsley, of the home; one son, Nathan Parsley, of the home;
two daughters, Amber Parsley of the home, and Hannah Parsley of Maiden, N.C.; a
brother, Larry (Buddy) Parsley and wife Doris of Fort Gay, W.Va.; five sisters,
Lora Campbell and husband Lenwood of Kitts Hill, Ohio, Phyllis Thompson and
husband Greg of Genoa, W.Va., Rhonda Preston and husband Millard of Genoa,
W.Va.; and Jennifer Parsley, of Ohio; and numerous nieces, nephews. Funeral
services were conducted 11 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 7, at the Chapman Funeral Home
Chapel, with Rev. Roger Holland officiating. Burial followed in the Harmony City
Cemetery, under direction of Chapman Funeral Home.

HENRY ADKINS,
72, of Wayne, WV, who was led to the Lord by Jerry and Joe Trautwein in the
spring of this year, joined Him on Friday, September 3, 2010 at Huntington
Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m.
Monday, September 6, 2010 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, WV, by Pastor
Jerry Trautwein. Burial followed at Community Memorial Gardens at Wayne. He was
born October 13, 1937 at Dunlow, WV, a son of the late Curtis and Mary Maynard
Adkins. Henry was a retired self-employed brick mason and was Baptist by faith.
He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Ronnie Adkins, Ralph Adkins and
Billy Adkins, a sister-in-law, Glendola Adkins, a nephew, Billy Adkins, Jr., and
his second wife, Wyelda Thompson Adkins. Survivors include his first wife and
mother of his children, Margaret Laney Adkins, his caregiver and life companion,
Jo Ann Ferguson Bevino; two daughters, Jennifer Adkins and husband, Rick of
Ceredo, WV, and Kathy Perry and husband, Darryl of Genoa, WV; five sons, Michael
Adkins and wife, Opal, and Ronnie Adkins and wife, Bonnie, all of Wayne, WV,
Jeff Adkins of Newton Grove, NC, Chet Adkins and wife, Joan, and Kevin Adkins
and fiancée Tammy, all of Huntington, WV; a sister, Bonnie Field and husband,
Jack of Milton, WV; a brother, Millard Adkins and wife, Hester of Wayne, WV; two

FREDDIE LEE SIAS SR.,
73, of Ranger, W.Va., passed away Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010, at his residence.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010 at the
Montana Freewill Baptist Church by Elder Willie McClellan. Burial will follow at
the Sias Cemetery at Ranger. He was born Sept. 8, 1937, in Lincoln County,
W.Va., a son of the late William and Norma Lucinda Chevront Sias. He was a
former ambulance driver for Tri-County Rescue Squad and was Baptist by faith.
Two sisters, Rose Lucas and Lillie Prichard, and a brother, David Sias, also
preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Angeline Sias;
two daughters, Martha Sipes of Princeton, W.Va., and Paulette Sias of Ranger,
W.Va.; two sons, Freddie Sias Jr. and wife Bianca of Chesapeake, Ohio, and John
Sias and wife Stephanie of Ranger, W.Va.; four sisters, Winnie Ruth McClellan
and husband Willie, and Phyllis Adkins and husband Roger Glen, all of Ranger,
W.Va., Mae Bolyard of Pennsylvania, and Sally Sias of Maryland; three brothers,
Collie Sias and wife Etta Jean, and Herb Sias, all of Ranger, W.Va., and Texal
Sias of Ohio; and six grandchildren. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at

JAKE CLARK, 87,
of Huntington, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010. He
was born March 16, 1923, in Marigold, W.Va., a son of the late Samuel and Stella
Clark. He served in the U.S. Army in W.W.II. and was a forest fire warden for
Wayne County. He had also worked in Pennsylvania as a coal miner, Spring Hill
Dairy where he delivered milk, and retired as a self-employed general
contractor. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Price Clark; four
infant children; one brother; one sister; and one great-granddaughter. Survivors
include four daughters, Rose Perry, who was also his primary caregiver, and her
husband Harmon of Huntington, Linda Melde and husband Rainard of New York, Peggy
Thierry and husband Robert of Genoa, W.Va., and Katie Clark of East Lynn, W.Va.;
three sons, Lewis Clark, Jerry Ray Clark and Derek Allen Clark, all of East
Lynn; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; 11
step-great-grandchildren; and four step great-great-grandchildren. Also
surviving is one sister, Stella Mae Ferguson of Wayne, W.Va.; two brothers,
Jasper Clark of Pennsylvania and Jennings Clark of Wayne; and a very special
caregiver, Dora Thierry of Ft. Gay, W.Va. The family would like to extend a
special thanks to Jo-Lin Health Care Center, King's Daughters Medical Hospital
and the VA Medical Center for their loving care and support. Funeral services
will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010, at Johnson Tiller Funeral

JAMES E. FYFFE,
51, of Amelia, Ohio, formerly of Kenova, W.Va., died Sept. 4, 2010, at Hospice
of Cincinnati. He was a machine operator for Orbit Manufacturing in Ohio. He was
a member of the American Legion Post 93 in Kenova. He leaves behind his wife,
Bonnie; daughter, Kim; son, David; and stepchildren, Angela and Ryan. He also
has three grandchildren. Visitation will be at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova
from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 6, 2010. There will be no funeral or burial

JAMES S. SPURLOCK,
60, of Ona, husband of Benita Basenback Spurlock, passed away at his home on
Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010. He was born on Sept. 26, 1949, in Cabell County, a son
of the late Emmett and Tressie Adkins Spurlock. In addition to his parents, he
was preceded in death by one brother, Estel Clark. In addition to his wife, he
is survived by four children, Jessica Spurlock of Barboursville, Brianna
Spurlock of Ona, Chad Spurlock of Huntington, and Krista (Ronnie) Chapman of Ona;
eight grandchildren, James Chapman, Alexandrea Arnold, Brayden Arnold, Logan
Baldwin, Brandon James, Rae-Anne Spurlock, Kyler Spurlock and Kae-Lee Spurlock;
one sister, Patty (Nick) Beever of Huntington; one brother, Tony (Virena)
Spurlock of Wayne County; stepfather, Charles "Buddy" Clark; father and
mother-in-law, Howard and Patricia Basenback; special friend, David Harbour; and
a host of other friends and family. He was a 38-year employee of Sturm Machine
Shop (now Sulzer Pump) and the president of I.A.M. Union Local Lodge 2798.

JR., 46, of Huntington, WV, passed away Sunday, September 5, 2010 at St. Mary's
Medical Center, Huntington, WV. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m.

Eddie McComas. Burial will follow at the Watson Cemetery, Branchland, WV. He was
born September 6, 1963 in Huntington, a son of James Clark (SR.) of
Indianapolis, IN and Carolyn Vernatte Wylie of Chesapeake, OH. He was Baptist by
faith. Additional survivors include a daughter, Beverly Clark of Huntington, WV;
two sons, Gary Clark and wife, Alicia of Indianapolis, IN, and Jeremiah Clark of

BARBARA SUE ROTEN,
68, of Lavalette, WV, passed away Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at. St. Mary's
Medical Center, Huntington, WV. Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00
p.m. Thursday, September 9, 2010 at Elmwood Cemetery, Wayne, WV. She was born
August 18, 1942 at Wayne, WV, a daughter of the late John and Grace Marsh
Followay. She was a homemaker and was protestant by faith. A brother, Jack
Followay, also preceded her in death. Survivors include her husband, Robert Lee
Roten; a daughter, Tina Marlow of Bremen, GA; two sons, Gary Roten of Bremen,
GA, and Mark Roten of Lavalette, WV; a sister, Dorothy Ward of Wayne, WV; three
brothers, Johnny Bill Followay of Wayne, WV, Robert Welch and Donald Welch, both
of Huntington, WV; four grandchildren, Jeremy Roten, Jessica Ball, Kristen
Wheeler, and Mara Sue Roten, and four great-grandchildren. There will be no

ELLA MARIE ROBERTSON,
91, of Genoa, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 7, 2010. She
was born on March 17, 1919 in Dunlow, W.Va. Marie was a member of Old Pleasant
Missionary Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her
parents Martin and Olive (Copley) Artrip; her husband James C. Robertson; two
daughters Janet Childers and Jacqueline Robertson; four sisters Estelle, Fern
Mildred and Louise; and one brother Don. Survivors include three daughters Fern
(Roy) Thompson of Genoa, W.Va., Phyllis (Dave) Stebner of Wadsworth, OH, Joan
(Kenneth) Wellman of South Point, OH; one son Charles (Betsi) Robertson of Bay
Village, OH.; two sisters Vinnie Okulich of Garden City, MI and Janice Burns of
Orient, OH; one son-in-law Verl Childers of Wayne, W.Va.; eight grandchildren,
nine great grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. The family would
like to extend a heartfelt word of thanks to Hospice and Special caregivers
Norma, Shirley and Freda for all of their loving care and support. Funeral

TRENT BOYES, 81,
of Wayne, W.Va., passed away at his residence on Tuesday, September 7, 2010. He
was born on April 10, 1929 in Fort Gay, W.Va. Trent was a carpenter and served
in the United States Navy. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Emmett
Boyes and Ella Belle Trent Boyes; two sisters, Opal and Betty; and five
brothers, Emmett, Nelson, Ralph, Paul and Raymond. Survivors include three
brothers, Roy Kenneth (Rosalea) Boyes of Wayne, W.Va., Robert Boyes of Ohio, Ted
(Nancy) Boyes of Elyria, OH, and one sister Jane (Ron) Nettleton of Spring Hill,
FL. There was no memorial service. Johnson-Tiller Funeral Home is honored to
serve the Boyes family.

CARL PERRY, 90,
of Frankfort, died at 7:45 p.m., Tuesday, September 7, 2010, in the Old Town
Friendly Rest, Frankfort, following an extended illness. He was born April 27,
1920, Dunlow, WV, to the late Esau and Polly Maynard Perry. On August 5, 1940,
he married the former Corda Irene Fry, who preceded him in death on August 5,
2005. He is survived by their five children: Carla Y. Burns; Doris E. (Ronald)
Willett; Douglas E. (Marita) Perry, all of Frankfort; Kathy L. (Mark) Hoagland,
Greer, SC; and Dwight R. "Rick,," Perry, Frankfort; grandchildren: Luke (Cindy)
Burns; Sabra DeWitt; Angela (Michael) Ellis; Stephen Willett; Carl (Mindy)
Willett; Carrie (Bryan) Bowdle; Ben (Yuhang) Perry; Sam (Heather) Perry; Lydia
(Seth) Tost; Ruth Perry; Deborah (Grant) McKinney; Rebecca (Jorge) Bautista;
Micah Perry; Jesse (Kelly) Perry; Meredith Hoagland; Hillary (Jordan) Furbish;
Drew Hoagland; Aaron (Autumn) Perry; Nathan Perry; and Jared Perry; 13
great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a grandson Mark Burns; brothers
Hobert, Melvin, Charles, Jesse, Anse, Curtis and Owen Perry; and sisters Gracie
Maynard and Lula Maynard. Carl worked as a local farmer and retired from the B &
0 Railroad following 30 years and one day of service as a conductor. Carl served
his country in the US Army from 1943-1946, Technician Fourth Grade, as an
electrical arc welder. He was a member of Faith Chapel. Funeral services will be
held at Noon Saturday, September 11, at the Calvary Baptist Church, 2486
Anderson Station Rd., Chillicothe, with Pastor Brandon Lee and Pastor Tom Kramer
officiating. Military graveside services, conducted by the Circleville AmVets
Honor Guard, will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Garden. Friends may call

MOHAMED ROSHEDA "BUTCH"
HIAT, 65, of Wayne, W.Va., went to be with the Lord Wednesday, September
8, 2010. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., a son of the late Ramali and Bertha
Lucas Hiat. Two brothers, Ramali "Bob" Hiat and GhuAmali Hiat, also preceded him
in death. Survivors include three daughters, Eula Duff and her husband Jimmie;
Sherry Bowen, and Jennifer Followay, all of Wayne; one son Jimmie Hiat and wife
Alesha, also of Wayne; and 10 grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Eula
Adams and husband Homer of Chesapeake, Ohio; four brothers Wilkie Hiat of
Ranger, W.Va., Clarence Lucas and wife Darlena of East Lynn, W.Va., Dwayne Lucas
and wife Lisa of Lavalette, W.Va., and Orbie Dale Lucas and wife Lorie of
Charleston, W.Va.; and a host of friends and family. Funeral services will be
conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in the Lambert Cemetery, Ranger, W.Va. Friends may call twos

JOYCE DARLENE KEENE,
57 , of Fort Gay passed away on September 9, 2010. She is preceded in death by
her parents Oliver Mounts and Effie Crabtree Mounts, two sisters; Pearl

addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving daughter, Tonya
Gay Murphy; brothers, Gene, Bobby Jo and Delbert Smith; and a grandson-in-law,
Tommy Hall. He was retired from ACF and was a member of First Huntington
Christian Baptist Church. He is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Donna
Marlene Smith; son, Jimmie Lee Smith Jr.; four granddaughters and their
husbands, Roberta and Travis Noble of Barboursville, Jamie and Jason Stapleton
of Huntington, Beth and Jared Van Reenan of Huntington, and Carrie Hall and Jay
Meadows of Huntington; five great-grandchildren, Zachary and Maxwell Noble,
Parker Van Reenan, and Marissa and Thomas Hall; two sisters, Betty Erwin of
Huntington, and Teb Holderby of Huntington; one brother and his wife, Gaines and

CLESTON C. RAMEY, born September 10, 1927, to Thomas Pat and Sarah "Ninnie"
Ramey, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He passed quietly
at home surrounded by family and close friends. Cleston is preceded in death by
his parents; six sisters, Rachel Blankenship, Violet Shepherd, Connie Ramey,
Eldean Doss Wellman, Eloise Ricketts and Doris Parris; two brothers, Conard
Ramey and Zion Ramey; two grandsons, W. Wade Whitt and Brian Crank. He is
survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Minnie Carolyn Adkins Ramey; a very
special grandson, Shannon Crank, who lived with them and cared for them; two
sons, Dana Marshall (Peggy) Ramey, Kevin Lee (Wanda) Ramey; five daughters,
Marsha Diane (Roger) Napier, Carla Jean (Jim) Jackson, Rhonda Jeanine (Don)
Russell, Judith Carol (Brady) Workman and Vanessa Jo (Rick) Bozeman. Cleston was
very proud of his 16 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, as well as a great-
great-grandchild. He is also survived by one sister, Shelah Ramey; three
brothers, John Ramey, Victor Ramey and Ace Ramey, along with many nieces and
nephews. Visitation will be after 11 a.m. on Friday, August 6, 2010, with

MRS. JUNE ADKINS NAPIER,
74, of Ceredo, W.Va., entered into the presence of the Lord on Saturday,
September 11, 2010. She was born on October 8, 1935, to the late Oscar and Vicie
Ferguson Adkins at Kiahsville, W.Va. She was a graduate of Ceredo-Kenova High
School, employed by Owens, and later retired after 18 years of service as
secretary of Ceredo-Kenova Middle School. As well as her parents, she was
preceded in death by a grandson, William Napier Miranda; brothers Ervin B.,
Oscar Jr., and Shirley Ray Adkins, and a sister, Jettie Lee Adkins. She is
survived by her husband of 56 years, Mose A. Napier, former Mayor of Ceredo. She
enjoyed serving the community as First Lady for 40 years. Other survivors
include daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Sherrie Napier Miranda and Steven Nelson,
and a very special granddaughter Sarah Ann Miranda, of Huntington, W.Va.; son
and daughter-in-law Philip A. and Elisabeth Napier, and a very special former
daughter-in-law, Cynthia Agee Napier, and three very special grandsons,
Alexander, Grant and Clark Napier, all of Canberra, Australia; two sisters,
Jewell Sunderlin of Churchville, Va., and Cleo Harger of Springfield, Mo.; three
brothers, E. Gene, Fred T., and Otis E. Adkins, all of Ceredo, W.Va.; many
nieces and nephews; along with very special caregivers, Barbara and April
Robertson, Jada Keesee, Crystal Perkins, Pearl Shepard, Sonya Freize and David

U.S. Air Force veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict. He is survived

was a self-employed machinist for over 40 years, he loved playing guitar, music

73, born October 10, 1936 to the late Fred Doss and Tennie Pennington Doss went
to be with the Lord September 11, 2010 while at his residence in Fort Gay.
Preceding him in death was his wife of 29 years, Kathleen Webb Doss. They had
two children, Doris (Buddy) Parsley and Franklin (Debbie) Doss Jr. both of Fort
Gay. He had six grandchildren; two brothers, Roger Doss and Richard Doss both of
Fort Gay; one sister, Julie Pratt of Mansfield, Ohio. Eugene was a member of Oak
Grove Church and was retired from the Local 543 Carpenters Union. Eugene was a
wonderful husband, dad, and papaw. He will be greatly missed. Funeral services

PENNINGTON FISCHER slipped quietly out of this life and into Heaven on
September 12, 2010. She was born in Huntington on July 6, 1921, to the late Omar
G. Pennington and Emma Markin Pennington. She was preceded in death by her
husband of 44 years, Charles Lee Fischer, brothers Walter Pennington, Bill
Pennington, Omar Maxwell "Max" Pennington, Ivan "Sonny" Pennington, Dale
Pennington and sister Dorothy Pennington Grubb Robinette. She is survived by one
brother, Ralph Pennington, one son, Bob Fischer and his wife Lynn, a daughter,
Brenda Fischer, all of Huntington and a daughter, Barbara Fischer Fowble and her
husband Chelcie "Bud" Fowble of Gallipolis, Ohio. She is also survived by five
grandchildren, Robert Fischer Jr. "JR", Amy Fischer Booth and her husband Jason
Booth, Cory Fischer and his wife Denise, Ryan Fowble and his wife Beth, Kristi
Fowble Bennett and her husband Brad Bennett. The grandchildren have blessed
Frances' life with 12 great-grandchildren. She was a faithful member of the
Harveytown Good Samaritan Church. Frances worked for the Reliance Dress Factory,
the Wood Mosaic veneering mill and the Sylvania light plant before settling into
her natural role as homemaker, mother and grandmother. She touched the lives of
so many people in her 89 years on this earth that she will be leaving a legacy
of sacrificial love, laughter, compassion and the hope for a grand reunion day

DALLESANDRO, 79 of Sun City AZ, formerly of Ceredo died Sunday September
12, 2010. She is the daughter of the late Cullie and Sallie Williamson Webb, she
was born September 6, 1931 in Fort Gay. A member of the 1950 graduating class of
Ceredo-Kenova High School, she lived and worked in Akron, Ohio for many years
prior to retiring to Sun City. She was a talented artist, leaving behind many
beautiful paintings for her family and friends to treasure, Sister's Christina
Skeens and Vandetta "Faye" Zaratian preceded her in death. Survivors include her
daughter Velvet Dellasandro of Los Angeles, Roberta Ratcliff of Ceredo and
Teresa Frazier of Sun City, brother-in-law G.I. Zaratsian of Sun City, and
several nieces and nephews whom she truly loved. Local nieces and nephews
include Julie Burgess of Ceredo, Myra Haught of Huntington and Becky (Bob) Moses

89, passed away Wednesday, September 15, in Smithfield, Virginia. Rebecca was
the daughter of Harvey Preston and Rebecca Jackson. She was Valedictorian of her
graduating class at Buffalo High School, received a teaching degree from
Marshall College, and taught at several schools in Wayne County. She met her
future husband, Raymond, while teaching at the one-room school on Perry Ridge,
Wayne County, WV. They were married in 1944, and June became a Navy wife. She
accompanied Raymond to many exciting and interesting duty stations, and was a
strong, loving and supportive mother to their children while he was overseas, or
on ship assignments. They retired to Pensacola, FL then moved to Titusville, FL
in 1990. June is survived by siblings Richard Preston of Prichard, WV; Sally Ann
Dishun of Fairfax, VA; Betty Ward of Prichard, WV; Janet Bailey of Prichard, WV;
Jack Preston of Prichard, WV; Sandra Morehead of Akron, Ohio; and Joe Preston of
Kenova, WV; son Gordon Curtis Perry of Titusville and daughter Suzanne Perry
Spann of Smithfield, VA; grandchildren Kurt Alexander Spann of Smithfield, VA
and Kristopher Ahren Spann of Chesapeake, VA; Derek Preston Perry of Titusville,

a long illness. He was born on August 16, 1955 in Wayne County, West Virginia.
Ardrey served in the Army and worked in the automobile industry in Rittman, OH
for over 30 years. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lois Johnson
Blankenship and one infant son, Ardrey L. Blankenship, Jr. Survivors include his
father Audrey "Bo" Blankenship, Sr. of Wayne, W.Va.; two brothers, Edward L.

in your future. Born on December 30, 1940, of Vernon "Cotton" and Martha Nicely,
Paul met his bride to be in the 2nd grade, announcing to his mother that he had
just met the woman he was to marry. He did. Paul and Dixie Oleida Bills married
on January 3, 1959, and shared 51 years together. He was a member of Sybene
Missionary Baptist Church. His legacy of life is beyond words and measure but of
most importance include his faith and dedication to his wife and three children.
He is survived by his wife, Dixie; his sister Mary McKee; and his children,
daughter Pam Riffe, son Jeff Nicely, and daughter Tammy White. Pam's family
includes her husband Geoff and their children Alysson and Kyle Riffe. Jeff and
his wife Sherri have three children, Dustin, Sara and Parker and a
granddaughter, Mindy. Tammy and her son Bobby complete the immediate family.

64, of North Ridgeville, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September,
18, 2010, in the emergency room at EMH Regional Medical Center in Elyria, Ohio.
He was born May 19, 1946, in Ranger, West Virginia. Mr. Manns had been a
resident of North Ridgeville since 1981, and had previously lived in Brooklyn,
Ohio. He was a machinist for many years at Precision Production in Cleveland,
Ohio, and retired in June of this year. Mr. Manns was a member of Chestnut Ridge
Baptist Church in Elyria. He enjoyed spending time with and being supportive of
his family and friends. He is survived by one son, Ronald B. Manns (Sarah) of
North Ridgeville; one sister, Alice Manns of West Hamlin, W.Va.; four brothers,
Oscar Manns (Jeanette) of Painesville, Ohio, Ron Manns (Cindy) of Missouri, Tom
Manns (Merle) of Kenova, W.Va., and Donnie Manns (Mary) of North Ridgeville; and
by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Sharon
McClellan Manns in 2007; by his parents, Lonnie and Flora Slade Manns; by three

PHYLLIS S. FERGUSON,
82, of Wayne, WV, passed away at home after a prolonged and courageous battle
from stroke related illnesses, on Sunday, September 19, 2010. She was born
September 28, 1927, in Kenova, W.Va., a daughter of the late Sadie Sharp and
Jerome Shumaker. Phyllis was a graduate of Ceredo-Kenova High School and
Marshall University with a Master's degree in education. She was a retired
educator, serving with the Wayne County Board of Education. She held various
positions at Wayne High School, where she dedicated her career as a teacher,
administrator, and later as a supervisor in the county administrative office.
She was a member of the Wayne United Methodist Church and also attended
Englewood United Methodist Church, Englewood, Fla., where she lived part-time.
Phyllis was a loving, generous person who touched the lives of many young people
she encountered during her years as an educator. She was a wealth of historical
knowledge, where she enjoyed studying and observing the working of government
and democracy. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Judge C. W.
Ferguson III, sister Lois Osburn and brother Charles Shumaker. Those surviving
left to cherish her memories include two sons, C. Walker Ferguson IV of
Lavalette, W.Va., Milton J. Ferguson and wife Lynn of Wayne, W.Va.; three
grandchildren, Park Jameson, Joseph Milton, and Elizabeth Ann, all of Wayne, W.
Va., her companion of 13 years, James E. Leach; sister Mary Helen Brown of
Huntington, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews. She was assisted during her
illness by three wonderful caregivers, Delores Napier, Paulette Rakes and Doris
Jude. These ladies provided loving comfort to the entire family and words of
gratitude can't begin to express the family's appreciation for their effort
during her struggle. Thanks also goes to the caregivers of Hospice of

Morrison; brothers Charles Glen Morrison and Donald Morrison; and infant sisters

his home in Farmington, N.Y. He was born June 13, 1950, eldest son of Deloris

sister, Gloria Ann. Survivors include his wife, Lori Napier; daughter, Angela
Pennella; grandson, Austin; and stepdaughter, Brandi, whom he loved and raised

BETTY JO ADKINS ASHWORTH of Kenova, W.Va., born
Nov. 8, 1934, passed away Sept. 24, 2010, at the age of 75 years, 10 months and
16 days old. She was the daughter of the late Seymour and Lillie Adkins. Betty
retired after working for 30 years at C&P Telephone as an engineer. She was also
a member of the Pioneer Club and valedictorian of the Hamlin High School
graduating class of 1951. Also preceding her in death is her husband, Odbert D.
Ashworth; two brothers, Earl H. Adkins and Freeman R. Adkins; five sisters,
Bernice Linville, Virginia Dillon, Dorothy Yeager, Freda Morris and Beatrice
Ashworth. Betty is survived by her son, Jefferson Scott Ashworth; granddaughter,
Kristin M. Ashworth; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Dorsey Ferrell;
brother-in-law, Darold Yeager; sisters-in-law, Velma Porter, Helen Saul; and
several nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will be noon Monday, Sept. 27, 2010,

retired from AK Steel, was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran and was a member of
the Genoa Church of Christ. He was a 32 Degree Mason and member of Vinson Lodge
No. 66, Fort Gay, W.Va. His wife, Norma Ross Chaney also preceded him in death,
along with a sister, Edith Chaney; and two brothers, Dewey Chaney and Curtis
Chaney. Survivors include a sister, Lillian Chaney of East Lynn, W.Va.; three
brothers, Junior Chaney of East Lynn, W.Va., Norman Chaney of Lavalette, W.Va.,

WALLACE J PINSON,
81, of Huntington, W.Va., died Sept. 24, 2010. He was born April 14, 1929, in
the Black Log community of Inez, Ky., the son of Mack and Laura Jude Pinson. A
longtime elder, board chairman and Sunday school superintendent of Vinson
Memorial Christian Church, he was a deeply kind man, forever steady and faithful
to his religion, to his family and to his friends. He was raised on the family
farm and later worked as a bus driver in Huntington, where he met his wife of 55
years. After serving on the front lines in the Korean War, Wally returned home
and established a water well drilling business, Pinson Brothers Drilling. He was
a Kentucky Colonel, an admiral in the Cherry River Navy, president of League 1
youth baseball, the first and only president of the Civil Service Commission of
Wayne County, president of the West End Lions Club, president and a founding
member of the W.Va. Water Well Drillers Association. He served on the W.Va.
Governor's Commission for Water Well Drillers, along with various committees for
the National Water Well Drillers Association and he was active in Republican
party politics. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Leskie J
Pinson; his brothers, Conrad, Robert, Mack, Truman, Edward and Gabriel; and his
sisters, Niza Colvin, Helen Watson, Christine Guthrie and Maudie Damron. He is
survived by his wife, Sandra Lee Earl Pinson; a daughter, Lisa Pinson Milstead,
and her husband Jay of Huntington; their children, Jayson Lykins and his wife
Megan of Kansas City, Mo., Alexandra Lykins, and Morgan Lykins and her son
Parker J, all of Huntington; a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Pinson and her
children, Cayley and Turner, all of Greensboro; and two sisters, Nancy Knight of
Huntington, and Elouise Osborn of Columbus, Ohio, along with many beloved nieces
and nephews. A man who worked instead of playing ball as a child, Wally became a
passionate fan of Vinson High School and Marshall University sports in his adult
years, as he witnessed how much the programs meant to family and friends. He was
a giving man, rock solid in his beliefs, always ready to reach out to those who
needed him. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchild dearly, and they

84, of Fort Gay passed away Saturday, September 25, 2010 at Three Rivers Medical
Center in Louisa. He was born September 30, 1925 in Fort Gay, a, son of the late
Cullie and Josephine Carver Meredith. He was a member of the Big Hurricane
Baptist Church and was retired from J. H. Fletchers Mining Co. In addition to
his parents he was preceded in death by a son Forest Andrew Meredith, a brother
Herman Meredith, a sister Catherine Thacker and a son-in-law Henry A. Sturgill.
Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years Hattie lolene Fortner Meredith of
Fort Gay, two sons, Terry L. (DeAnna) Meredith and Chester A. (Dorothy) Meredith
all of Fort Gay; two daughters, Margaret Sturgill of Fort Gay and Dixie A.
(Roger) Kitchen of Louisa; two sisters Garnett Hatten of Kenova, and Mona Fay
Vipperman of Rittman Ohio; 11 grand children, 10 great grand children, 6

Shumaker. She was a member of the Baptist Temple, where she participated in the
Burean Sunday School Class, the Footnotes Book Club and where she was the former
financial secretary. She was a retired employee of the Veterans Administration.
Survivors include two daughters and spouses, Barbara and Donald Johnson of
Bridgeport, W.Va., and Patty and Rob Warner of Culloden, W.Va.; two
grandchildren and a spouse, Elizabeth Ann and Philip Lee of Fayetteville, N.C.,

Association. Surviving are a sister Anne Carter (Fred) of Sacramento, Calif.;
sons Richard Lambert (Julie) of Franklin, Tenn., and David Lambert (Laura) of
Charleston, W.Va.; daughter Lynne Hudson (Troy) of Huntington, W.Va.;
grandchildren Wesley Lambert of Cleveland, Ohio, Anne Jennings of Sevierville,

PATTY HATTON McKEON
passed away Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at home. She was 88 years old. Patty was
born January 10, 1922 in Fort Gay, the only child of the late Valentine and
Mabel Hatton. She grew up in Martin, Ky. before coming to Ashland to work in the
payroll department for Ashland Oil. She married the late Robert M. McKeon on
March 23, 1954 in Charleston, South Carolina. Patty is survived by two children,
Robert McKeon and wife Trish, and Valerie and husband Jim Sturgill. She left
behind four grandchildren, Todd McKeon, Shane Sturgill, Kelly Osborne, and
Shelley Hall. She was also blessed with five great-grandchildren. Patty was a
wonderful lady who, next to reading a book, loved nothing more than caring for
her family and friends. She was a avid reader, even volunteering for a number of
years at the Catlettsburg branch of the Boyd County Public Library. She was an
extremely special person, one who has undoubtedly made an impact upon every
person's life she had met. There will be no visitation. Funeral services will be
conducted Friday at 11 a.m. at Young Funeral Home Chapel in Louisa, Ky. Burial
will follow at Golden Oaks Cemetery, Ashand, Ky. Young Funeral Home is in charge

60, of Huntington, W.Va., passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2010, at Emogene

89, of Kenova, W.Va., died Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at his home. He was
born March 22, 1921 in Kenova, a son of the late Clayton Sr. and Nellie Workman
Powell. He was owner and operator of Powell Tire and Battery in Kenova. Junior
was a longtime member and retired deacon of the 20th Street Baptist Church in
Kenova. He was a member of Kenova Masonic Lodge #110 AF&AM, whose members will
conduct graveside rites, and a member of Gideon International. He was a U.S.
Marine Corps veteran, having served during World War II and a member of American
Legion Post #93 Kenova, whose members will conduct military graveside rites. In
addition to his parents, Junior was preceded in death by one sister, Wilma
Riggs, and one son-in-law, John DeArment. He is survived by his beloved wife,
Mary F. Powell; two daughters, Patricia (Cookie) Jordan of Lenexa, Kan., and
Vickie DeArment of Jacksonville, Fla.; one sister, Ilene Ray of Huntington; one
brother, Donald (Dale) Powell of Kenova; four grandchildren, Dr. Michael Clayton
(Jennifer) DeArment of Shelby, N.C.; Tony Christopher Jordan of Lenexa, Kan.;
Richard Scott (Beth) DeArment of Jacksonville, Fla., and Terri Dawn Jordan of
