ALMA MAE FORTNER, 61, of Fort Gay, WV, went to be
with the Lord Saturday, October 2, 2010 at her residence. Funeral services were
conducted 2:00 pm Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel by
Pastor Johnny Cavins. Burial followed at Ramey Cemetery, East Lynn, WV. She was
born June 10, 1949 in Ranger, WV, a daughter of the late Chester and Maggie Mae
Simpkins Ramey. Alma was a homemaker. Also preceding her in death were three
sisters, Dorothy, Suzie and Norma Mae Ramey. Survivors include her loving
husband, Eydone "Buster" Fortner; two daughters, Margaret Holland of Christmas,
FL, Gracie Lynn Humphlette of Norfolk, VA; a son, Glenn Albert Humphlette of
Norfolk, VA; a sister, Annie Phillips and husband, Forrest of Lawrenceville, VA;
two brothers, James Albert Ramey of Lavalette, WV, Cecil Garfield Ramey and
wife, Molly of Louisa, KY; two grandchildren, Chelsea and Mark; six nephews,
four nieces.

RANDALL MAC WEBB, 53, of Wayne, W.Va., went to be
with the Lord on Monday, October 4, 2010. Born June 17, 1957, to Ethel Canaday
Webb and the late Bobby Webb, he was a retired educator for WCBOE. He was a 1975
graduate of WHS and received a Master's plus degree from Marshall University. He
was raised in, and was a member of, Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church, and
attended Lick Creek Baptist Church with his family. He was preceded in death by
his father, Bobby Webb and two infant brothers, and mother-in-law, Pauline
Skeens. Survivors also include his loving wife of 30 years, Teresa Skeens Webb;
two daughters and sons-in-law, Traci and Josh Phillips of Wayne, and Amy and
Brent Roberts of Milton, W.Va.; two granddaughters, Anna Reece and Halle Mac
Phillips, and baby Roberts on the way; a sister and brother-in-law, Debbie and
Jeff Cade; his father-in-law, J.C. Skeens; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law,
Patsy and Darren Deeds; two nieces and a nephew, Kala (Greg) Michels and Joseph
and Kaitlin Deeds; a great-niece, Riley Jane Michels, and a godson, Braylon
Gillespie. He leaves a large loving family of aunts, uncles and cousins, along
with a host of friends. Randall valued an education and loved spending time with
family and friends, along with his favorite past-time, fishing. The family
wishes to thank all of his physicians and their staffs, St. Mary's Medical
Center and Cornerstone Hospital for their exemplary care over the last 10-1/2
years. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will
be Roger Webb and Dan Richard Hardwick. Funeral services will be conducted at 1
p.m. Thursday, October 7, 2010 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, by Pastor
Michael Dillon. Burial will follow at the Webb Cemetery, Genoa, W.Va. Friends

JERRY FRAZIER, 59, of Fort Gay. Born November 18th
1950 in Wayne County and died October 4 2010 at Hospice House of Huntington. He
is preceded in death by his parents Max and Edith Doss Frazier, also five
brothers, Ricky, Michael, Nimrod, Billy and Budget Frazier. He is survived by
his children Jerri Michelle Frazier of Staffordsville Ky, and Marc (Julie)
Herbst of Creal Springs Ill., and a special friend Diane Grim of Fort Gay: five
grandchildren; Whitney and Bryan Johnson of Staffordsville and Brittany, Noah
and Eligah Herbst of Creal Springs Ill.; two brothers Max Jr. (Carolyn) Frazier,
Danny (Dianna) Frazier both of Louisa, five sisters; Patty (Owen) Marcum, Tenniw
Sue (Fred) Fraley, Jenny Lou (Joe) Rose, all of Fort Gay; Rita (Toney) Capterton
of Proctorville, Oh., and Kathy Johnson of Urbana Ohio along with a host of
nieces, nephews and friends all whom loved him. He will be missed by all.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at Young
Funeral Home Chapel with Mac Ray Cyrus officiating. Burial will follow at the
Doss Cemetery in Foal Gay.

TERRY SCOTT HURLEY, 49, of Mill Creek, W.Va., son
of Josephine Hurley, died Oct. 5, 2010, in Logan (W.Va.) Regional Medical

ZELMA RUTH SCITES McCOY, 82, of Wayne, W.Va., went
to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 5, 2010, at her residence. She was born
on December 21, 1927 in West Hamlin, W. Va. She was preceded in death by her
parents, Epp Scites and Minnie Jane Reynolds Scites and her husband, Ira McCoy;
three sisters, Earmel Johnson, Marie Kirk and Arnie Johnson; three brothers,
Arnold Scites, Earl Scites and Freeman Scites. Survivors include one son, Jackie
Scites of Wayne, W.Va.; three daughters, Dr. Iralane "Pippa" Lambrose and
husband Nick Lambrose, of Lavalette, W.Va.; Shauna Farley and husband Greg
Farley of Lavalette, and Kesha McCoy of Wayne; two sisters, Garnett Yeager of
Spencer, W.Va. and Shirley Johnson of Michigan; four grandsons, Davin Scites of
North Carolina, Gregory Hunter, Aaron Gregory Farley and James Ira Colton Farley
of Lavalette, W.Va.; three granddaughters, Dr. Megan Watts-Shepherd and husband
Dr. Jay Shepherd of Louisiana, Maryl Lambrose of Lavalette; and Rhonda Scites

RITA ANN COLLINS, 45, of Fort Gay passed away on
October 5, 2010. She is survived by her parents Johnny Mitchell Collins of
Shreve Port LA and Jean Sheffield of Fort Gay along with one son Larry Wayne
Eagan of Mobile Alabama one brother Johnny Collins of Shreve Port along with one
grandchild.
Memorial services are scheduled for Wednesday Oct. 13, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the
Chapel. Visiting hours for memorial, service 9 -11 Wednesday.

EMMA SUE PATTON, 65, of Louisa passed away on
Tuesday October 5, 2010. She was born in Louisa on March 26, 1945. She was a
homemaker. She is preceded in death by her father Lon Patton and Crilda Crabtree
Patton and four sisters Mary Moore, Dorothy Speakman, Nancy Lemaster, Laura Mae
Rissmiller and two brothers Cecil Patton and Lonnie Patton. She is survived by
three sisters; Jo Ann Wright of Houston, Betty Daniels of Lebanon and Carole
Johnson of Detroit. Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday October 9
at the Louisa FWB Church officiated by Rev. Vinny Vanhoose and Rev. Ric Frazier.
Burial was at Green Lawn Cemetery Louisa. Funeral arrangements are under the

SARAH "BETTY" E. NEWMAN PRATT, 86, of Kenova,
W.Va., died Wednesday, October 6, 2010, at her home. She was born June 25, 1924,
in Ceredo, W.Va., a daughter of the late James H. and Grace Stapleton Newman.
She was married on February 26, 1942, at the age of 17, to Charles Donald Pratt,
with whom she has shared her life for 68 years. In addition to her husband, she
is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Donna Sue and Butch VanHoose of Fort
Mill, S.C.; two grandsons and granddaughters-in-law, Shayne and Tricia VanHoose
of Goose Creek, S.C., and Bryan and Julie VanHoose of Candler, N.C.; five
great-grandchildren, Madison, Colin, Carter and Tanner VanHoose and Taylor
White. The family would like to profoundly thank the staff of Hospice for the
brief period of time they helped with her care. There will be no viewing, no
flowers and no funeral. There will be a short graveside service for the above

KATHERINE MARIE EVANS, 83, of Fort Gay, W.Va., went
to be with the Lord, Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010, at Three Rivers Medical Center in
Louisa. Born Feb. 4, 1927, in Williamson, W.Va., she was the daughter of the
late Lawrence Copley, and Nancy Williamson Copley Bowens. She was a housewife.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Curtis Lee Evans, Jr. Survivors include
her loving husband of 62 years, Curtis Lee Evans of Fort Gay; two daughters,
Betty (Randall) Frazier of Fort Gay, and Christine Evans of Bunker Hill, W.Va.;
a son, James Robert (Christine) Evans of Rirt Gay; a daughter-in-law, Sarah
Evans of Maryland; a sister, Lucille Bowens of Guyandotte, W.Va.; four brothers,
Claude Copley of Louisa, Lawrence Copley Jr. of Crum, W.Va., William Frank
Copley of Alabama, and Billy Bowens of Crum; a half-sister, Ann Bowens of Ohio;
11 grandchildren; and 18 great Grandchildren. Funeral services were 2 p.m.,
Saturday, Oct. 9, at Young Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Tim Preston
officiating. Burial was in Frazier, Cemetery, Fort Gay, under, direction of
Young Funeral, Home, Louisa.

ROGER ALLEN MILLER, 39, of East Lynn, W.Va., passed
away at his residence on Thursday, October 6, 2010. He was born on August 14,
1971 in Cleveland, Ohio. Roger was preceded in death by his father Aubrey Lee
Kirk. Survivors include his mother, Bertha Elizabeth Cooley Kirk; one sister,
Shirley (Paul) Tanner of Lavalette, W.Va.; one brother, Carl (Shiela) Cooley of
East Lynn, W.Va.; three nieces, Casey Owens, Geneva Miller, and Jessica Toppings
of East Lynn; five nephews, Paul Tanner, Jr., Nathan Miller, Christopher
Welford, Richard Welford and Justin Welford of East Lynn; and a host of friends,
aunts and uncles too numerous to mention. The family would like to extend a
special thanks to Steven Sollazzo for all of his kindness and support to the
family during this trying time. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on
Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at Johnson-Tiller Funeral Home with Johnson Queen

CLARENCE FRAZIER, 76, of Fort Gay, passed away on
Thursday, October 7, 2010. He was a veteran of the US Army and a Maintenance
Supervisor of Heiners Bakery for 37 years. He is preceded in death by his
parents Ivin Frazier and Lizzie James Lycans Frazier. He is survived by his wife
Debris Mounts Frazier of Fort Gay, daughter Sheila Frazier of Fort Gay, son
Barry Frazier of Fort Gay, sister Della Wilson of Columbus, Ohio, four
grandchildren and one great-grandchildren: Services were conducted on Saturday
October 9 by Bro. Jeff Lycans at the, Wilson Funeral Home. Burial followed in

REV. DONALD LEE NAPIER, 77, of Huntington, W.Va.,
went to be with his Lord Friday, Oct. 8, 2010, at the Emogene Dolin Jones
Hospice House in Huntington. He was born March 20, 1933, in Huntington, a son of
the late Thelma Blower Barcus. Rev. Napier was a 1952 graduate of Huntington
East High School. He retired from INCO where he had been a strip mill worker. He
was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. Members of
American Legion Post No. 93 Kenova will conduct military graveside rites. He was
a member of the Ceredo Crescent Masonic Lodge No. 32 A.F. & A.M. and he was a 32
degree mason, and a member of the Beni Kedem Shrine. Rev. Napier served his Lord
as a United Baptist minister for over 40 years and was a member of the Hand of
God Baptist Church. Married for 57 years to his beloved wife, Deloris Avonell
Perdue Napier, together they made a home and raised six loving children: five
daughters and two sons-in-law, Melany Napier, Melissa and Jim Wyatt, Michelle
and Bret Hanshaw, Marsha Napier and Monica Pennington, all of Huntington; one
son and daughter-in-law, Manuel Brent and Sherry Napier of Huntington. He was
also survived by one sister, Alma Smith of Cannonsburg, Ky.; 16 grandchildren;
15 great-grandchildren; three nieces and three nephews; one sister-in-law and
her husband, Pauline and Fred McFeeley of Lesage, W.Va. The family would like to
express a special "thank you" to Bob and June Dennison, and the staff of the
Hospice House, for their tender care of both Rev. Napier and his family. Rev.
Napier will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services will
be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 11, 2010, at Rollins Funeral Home in

JUANITA FAY McKENZIE ACORD, 81, of Prichard, W.Va.,
died Friday, October 8, 2010, at Cornerstone in Huntington, W.Va. She was born
August 11, 1929 in Wayne, a daughter of the late Samuel and Elsie Hodge
McKenzie. She was a homemaker and a member of Smith Chapel Community Church in
Louisa, Ky. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her
husband, Henry Ford Acord and one son, David Lee Acord. She is survived by one
son, Kenneth Ray Acord of Prichard; three daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and
Ronald Kimberlin and Bonnie and Charles Acord, all of Prichard, and Betty and
Danny Robertson of Fort Gay, W.Va.; one sister, Ruby Akers of Prichard; one
daughter-in-law, Vickie Acord of Louisa, Ky.; 14 grandchildren and eight

BESSIE KILGORE DICKSON POWERS, 79, of Huntington,
passed away peacefully at home following a brief battle with cancer Oct. 8,
2010. Born on July 10, 1931, in Wayne County, W.Va., to the late Mack and Emma
Bloss Kilgore. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Sherman
Dickson Sr.; and second husband, Leon Powers; also her son, Sherman "Dickie"
Dickson Jr.; brothers, Irvin, George, Clarence and Ernest Kilgore. Survivors
include her daughter, Deborah Dickson of Huntington; granddaughters, Tiffany
(Chris) McDaniel of Monroe, Ga., Kristen Clayton (John McDaniels) and Alissa
(John) Swiger of Huntington; great-grandchildren, Jakob Peyton, Emily Rose and
Kinsey Reese McDaniel of Monroe, Ga., and Olivia Nichole and Austin Owen Swiger
of Huntington, all of whom will miss spending time with "Granny." In addition,
her "Big Sis," Glenna Lorman, and brothers, Max (Nancy), Sam (Maxine) and Carl
(Betty) Kilgore of Huntington, and Paul Kilgore of San Bruno, Calif.; as well as
all her nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that survive as well. Bessie was
employed in Huntington with the V.A., W.T. Grant Stores and many years at
Maidenform. She retired from Nabisco in Houston, Texas. She enjoyed activities
at the Buffalo Senior Center in Wayne County, such as line dancing, working
jigsaw puzzles and day trips to Amish Country; and every new baby in the family
would be blessed with one of her beautiful handmade afghans. All will miss her
beautiful smile and generous heart. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m.
Monday, Oct. 11, 2010, at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Brother Harold Adkins and
Brother John Harris. Burial will follow in the Artrip-Kilgore Cemetery on German
Ridge in Huntington. Visitation will be from noon until service time Monday at
the Reger Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Beaulah

LUTHER "BUSH" MILLS, 75, of East Lynn, W.Va. went
home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 8, 2010 with his family by his side.
He was the son of the late Columbus "Lum" and Myrtle Merritt Mills. In addition
to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Terry Lee; brother,
Paul Mills; sisters, Bessie Perry and Hazel clay. He is survived by his wife of
56 years, Lydia Jane Clark Mills; two sons and there wives, Donald (Mary) Mills
of Ashland, KY; Steven (Pam) Mills of Salt Rock; Four daughters and their
husbands, Carol Russell of Huntington; Teresa (Larry) Carico of Wayne; and Kathy
(Faron) Miller of East Lynn; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and
a host of special friends and family. The family would like to extend a special
"Thank You" to Hospice of Huntington, and to three special sisters-in-law, Sue
Clay, Lois Clark and Margaret Adkins. He was a veteran of the Korean War, a self
employed truck driver and was a member of the Liberty United Baptist Church. He
was a member of the Wayne County Farm Bureau. He enjoyed farming and going to
the auction. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday. October
11th, 2010 at Johnson-Tiller Funeral Home, with Elder Paul Triplett and Brother
Clifford Napier officiating. Burial will follow at the Watson Cemetery,

JAMES RAY SUTFIN, 63, of Kenova, went home to be
with Jesus on Saturday, October 9, 2010, at the St. Mary's Medical Center in
Huntington. He was born May 1, 1947 in Kenova, W.Va., to the late Frank and
Loraine (Ward) Sutfin. Mr. Sutfin attended the Burnaugh Baptist Church. He
united in marriage to Mary E. (Cooper) Sutfin who survives. Other survivors
include a daughter and son-in-law, Jamie Renee and Jeremy Shane Hutchinson of
Ohio, along with a sister Carol Sutfin of Ceredo and a granddaughter, Jessica
Elizabeth "Sassy" Hutchinson. The family would like to express their gratitude
to Dr. Laurie Harper, Dr. Gerrit Kimmey and the staff of St. Mary's Oncology
Unit for their love, compassion and care. Funeral services will be conducted at

LUCY ALLEN, 88, of Wayne, W.Va., passed away
Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, at Wayne Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral

Stiltner Cemetery at Wayne. She was born Feb. 1, 1922, in Wayne County, a
daughter of the late Henry L. and Georgia Fortner Stiltner. Lucy was a former
employee of Wayne Continuous Care Center and was a member of the Big Creek
Baptist Church. Her husband, Bellvard L. Allen; an infant daughter, Marilyn; two
brothers, Walker Stiltner and Henry Stiltner; and a sister, Delila Stiltner,
also preceded her in death. Survivors include two daughters, Lila (Elmer) Vaughn
of Wayne, W.Va., and Barbara (Hillary) Scaff of Hertford, N.C.; a son, Ronald L.
Allen of Wayne; two sisters, Maxine Rice and Ruth Brooks, both of Wayne, W.Va.;

HIRAM LEE ADKINS, 63, of Lavalette, W.Va., went
home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010. He was born June 3, 1947, in
Wayne County, a son of the late Hurston and Wycal Beatrice Lockhart Adkins. He
attended Wayne High School, was a former salesman for Heiner's Bakery and was a
member of New Beginnings United Baptist Church. He was a member and past master
of Western Star Lodge No. 11 A.F. & A.M., Guyandotte, and was a member of the
Huntington Scottish Rite. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Fredice
Adkins and Louise Lockhart. He is survived by his wife, Nancy K. Butler Adkins;
three daughters, Karen Mason of Huntington, Judith (Paul) Higgins of Dunlap,
Tenn., and Debra (Lenny) McClary of South Point, Ohio; two sisters, Edith (Carl)
Massengill of Columbus, Ohio, and Delphia (Riley) Walker of East Lynn, W.Va.;
two brothers, Luther (Joyce) Adkins of East Lynn and Waldow (Faye) Adkins of
Huntington, W.Va.; four grandchildren, Julian Scott Hogsett, Dakota Collins,
Cheyenne Lynn Collins and William Daniel Higgins; and his five cats, Princess,

FREDA LOUISE SHORT, 87, of Huntington, passed away
Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, in Huntington Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was
born Feb. 20, 1923, in Branchland, W.Va., the daughter of William Gobel and
Bessie Jan Porter Woods. She was the widow of William Mitchell Short. She
retired from Owens-Illinois Glass. She is survived by several nieces and
nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010, at noon at Henson
Mortuary by the Rev. John Bourne. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial
Garden, Barboursville. Visitation will be Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010, from 11 a.m.

MARY ELLEN McKINSTER, 80, of Louisa, passed away
peacefully in the comfort of her home on Saturday morning, October 9, 2010. She
was born in Norris, Ky. on March 6 1930 and was married to her beloved husband
Claude McKinster in 1946. She was passionate about family and love and together
they built both. A wonderful wife, loving mother, grandmother,
great-grandmother, sister and aunt. Survivors include four sons; James McKinster
of Louisa, Joseph (Doris) McKinster of Louisa, Claude Wesley McKinster of Louisa
and Jessie (Sandy) McKinster of Louisa along with seven grandchildren, 14
great-grandchildren and so many other nieces and nephews and life-long friends.
Mary was loved by all who knew her spirit and tender heart felt words she will
not be forgotten. Funeral arrangements were Tuesday at Spencer Freewill Baptist
Church and burial was in the McKinster Family Cemetery.

VIRGIE MARIE WHEELER, 77, of Franklin Furnace,
Ohio, was born September 5, 1933 to the late Berman and Olgia Gibson Willis, of
Whites Creek, Prichard, West Virginia. (Died October 10, 2010). She was also
preceded in death by one brother, Bill Willis and one sister, Catherine
Caldwell. She married Alexander "Bill" Wheeler the son of the late Roy and Ona
Daniels Wheeler, on November 16, 1955. In addition to her husband, she is
survived by three daughters, Darlene Locke of Portsmouth, Ohio, Della Martin of
Franklin Furnace, Ohio, and Nancy "Cathy" Lykins of Connelly Springs, N.C.; four
sons, William "Buster" Wheeler of Pendleton, Ky., Larry Wheeler of Wheelersburg,
Ohio, Gary Wheeler of Summerville, S.C., and Roy "Pee Wee" Wheeler of
Wheelersburg, Ohio; 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters,
Sue Thompson of Wooster, Ohio, and Sidney Ann Sanders of Chicago, Ill.; and two
brothers, Berman "Sug" Willis of Huntington, W.Va., and Oscar "Buddy" Willis of
Prichard, W.Va. Mrs. Wheeler attended the Franklin Furnace Independent Baptist
Church where she was a faithful member and follower of the Lord whom, she said
she was ready to meet in her robe of white, she would fly away and march around
the throne and look, upon her Savior's face. To her family all gathered around
her she said "hope all of you make it to heaven." Funeral services will be
conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 13, 2010, at Rollins Funeral Home in
Kenova, W.Va., with the Rev. Dennis Hankins officiating. Burial will follow in

HAZEL FORREST SIMMONS, 98, of Barboursville, widow
of Virgil Simmons, passed away Sunday, October 10, 2010, at Cabell Huntington

Barboursville, W.Va. Hazel was born April 6, 1912, in Louisa, Kentucky, a

ARLENE CURRY VANCE, 76, of Huntington, passed away
peacefully on October 11, 2010 at St. Mary's Medical Center, following her long
and courageous battle with cancer. She was born on May 9, 1934 in Kiahsville, WV
and was the daughter of the late William A. "Major" and Ora Tomblin Curry. She
was preceded in death by her sisters including her twin sister, Quinnie
Geraldine Curry, Nina Aiken, Roma Martin, Orpha Gilliam, and Opal Wheelock; her
brothers, Chester Curry, Ambros Curry, Carson Curry, Grover Curry and William
Jay Curry. Survivors include her loving husband of 56 years, Franklin Vance,
Sr., her one son, Frank Jr. of Alexandria, VA, and three grandchildren: Jessica
Hope Vance of Alexandria, VA, Laura Frances Vance of Nashville, TN, and Joshua
Franklin Vance of Ft. Worth, TX and a host of loving family and friends. A
memorial service will be conducted 2:00 pm Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Morris

KENNETH OLIVER CANADAY, 50, of Mt. Juliet, TN,
formerly of Lavalette , WV, died Monday, October 11, 2010, at Summitt Medical
Center in Hermitage, TN. Funeral services were conducted 1 pm Sunday, October

followed at Robert Vaughn Cemetery, East Lynn, WV. He was born September 9, 1960

Kenneth was formerly employed by Opryland in Nashville, TN. He was raised a
Baptist at the East Lynn Missionary Baptist Church. Also preceding him in death
were his grandparents, Acie Oliver and Mattie Bing Canaday and Every O'Dell and
Pattie Lawson Hammond. Survivors include five brothers, James Henry Canaday and

PAVELO MAYMARD, 91, of Lincoln County, W.Va., went
to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on October 11, 2010. She was born
May 13, 1919 in Blue Lick, W.Va. She was a member of the Head of Cove Church in
Cove Gap, W.Va. Born a daughter of the late Charlie and Kizzie Ross Maynard, she
was also preceded in death by two sisters Ruby Watts of Lavalette, W.Va., and
Leota Wiley and brother-in-law Herman Wiley of Kiahsville, W.Va. Survivors
include one son, Billy Jack Maynard of Lincoln County; 10 grandchildren; and 23
great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Maude Sperry of Huntington,
W.Va., and Rosalee Dickerson of Wayne, W.Va.; four brothers, Johnnie Maynard of
Ga., Eugene Maynard, Cletis Maynard, both of Cleveland, Ohio, and Bobby Maynard
of Wayne; 10 nieces and 9 nephews. Pavelo made many friends throughout the years
including a very special friend of 50 years, Martha Jewel Taylor of East Lynn,
W.Va., good friend Vinetta Maynard of Kent, and special friends from her early
years, Palmetta Ross and Freda Dyer, both of Cove Creek, W.Va. Thank you to all
of you for being there when she needed a listening ear. Pavelo will never be
forgotten. She liked the simple things in life. She loved her cats and dogs and
shopping for pretty clothes and shoes. She also liked blue grass music and
dancing. Now she can dance all over heaven. She was laid to rest in the Maynard
Cemetery at Community Memorial Gardens. Long time respected friend, Rev. Johnson
Queen will officiate. Thank you to granddaughter Harriet Brooks for spending
endless hours with her grandmother, and thank you to Jackie Sue Adkins for her

RONNIE DALE PRINCE, 43, of Huntington, passed away

maintenance department. Ronnie was a 1985 graduate of Vinson High School and a
veteran of the W.Va. Army National Guard. He was preceded in death by a brother,

HASKEL RICKY WILLIAMSON, age 51 of Holden departed
this life on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at Cabell-Huntington Hospital. Born May
18, 1959 at Holden he was the son of Gay (Williamson) Williamson of Holden and
the late Haskel Williamson. In addition to his father he was also preceded in
deathby two brothers, Bobby and Timothy Darin Williamson and a special friend,
Doug Welch. Foremost, Haskel was an avid WVU football fan, he was a coal miner
for Marrowbone Development Company and a member of the UMWA. He was a US Army
veteran, and he was a member of the Maryetta United Baptist Church and was a
former active member of the 5 & 6 Holden Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to
his mother he is survived by his wife, Pam West Williamson, one son Wesley
(Kayla) Robertson of Man, four sisters Retha and the husband (Terry) Collins of
Holden, Sarah and the husband (Ernie) Stamper of Dandridge, TN, Dollene and the
husband (Eugene) Bailey of Holden, and Tina and the husband (Wayne) Fry of
Stollings, numerous nieces and nephews and special friends including, Steve
Workman, Mark White, and Phil Nelson. Funeral services will be held on Saturday,

James retired from U.S. Army Corps of Engineers with 37 years of service and was

and a sister, Margie Estep. Survivors include two daughters, Karen Stewart and

was born on Oct. 7, 1923, in Wayne County, a son of the late Francis Leet and

ex-wife, Goldie Baumgardner Moore; four brothers, Esbon, John, Uhl and Elmer

Railraod and was a World War II Marine veteran, having served on the Pacific
front in Okinawa, and he was also a recipient of the Purple Heart Medal. He was
a member of the VFW Post 9738, American Legion Post 16 and the Marine Corps
League. He is survived by one daughter, Sharon Kaye (Stephen) Stark of Kenova;
one son, Dan (Desiree) Moore of Westmoreland; one sister, Eunice Jones of
Brandon, Fla.; three grandchildren, Sharlie Frye, Chas York (Heather) and Travis
Moore; two step-grandchildren, Alyssa Stark and Justin Goodwin (Sarah); four

Hospice House of Huntington, Huntington, W.Va. She was born Sept. 3, 1921, in
Thomaston, Ga., to the late Lee Watson and Ioma Hammack Penn. In addition to her
parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, W.J. Penn; and one sister,
Pauline Cox. She is survived by her loving son, John Perdue; and
daughter-in-law, Gail Perdue of Chesapeake, Ohio; three grandsons, Darren Perdue
and Dwayne Perdue, both of Huntington, W.Va., Eric Mullins of Bridgeport, W.Va.;
and many nieces and nephews. She attended Marshall College, where she received
her master's degree. She was a retired Wayne County school teacher with 35 years
of service. Ada was in "Most Outstanding Elementary Teacher of America." She was
a member of Alpha Delta Lambda, an honorary teacher's sorority. She was a
W.W.II. Army veteran, having served in the European Conflict. She was a member
of V.F.W. Post 9738 and also American Legion Post No. 93. She was instrumental
in getting the female statue of the Army WAC at White Chapel Memorial Gardens,
Barboursville, W.Va. She was the first and only woman West Virginia State
American Legion Commander. The family would like to thank Dr. Cindi Pinson and
staff; her caregivers, Beverly Spears and Heather Ramey. Visitation will be 10

BETTY LOU TURLEY, 75, of Wayne, W.Va., went to meet
her Heavenly Father, Friday, October 15, 2010. She was born May 6, 1935 in
Huntington, W.Va., a daughter of the late William and Ella Roberts. Also
preceding her in death were two brothers, Richard and Earl Roberts, and three
sisters, Irene Hayes, Ruth Collins and Ann Basenback. Betty was a homemaker and
a member of Booten Crockett Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband
Bruce Turley; three children, Veronica A. (Dale W.) Ward of Lavalette, Bruce
Edward (Sharon) Turley Jr., Wayne, and Regina (Bruce) Kennedy, Huntington; six
grandchildren, Damon R. (Kristel) Ward, Amber M. Ward, Rebecca (Greg) Gartin,
Justin (Stephanie) Turley, Christopher Tomblin and James Tomblin; three
great-grandchildren, Elijah and Emily Gartin, and Cameron Tomblin. Also
surviving are two sisters, Evelyn Ward, and Norma Jean Wheeler. Services will be
conducted 1 p.m. Monday, October 18, 2010, at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home with

GEORGIA STEPHENS, 80, of Wayne, W.Va., went to be
with the Lord Friday, October 15, 2010. She was born December 7, 1929 in Wayne
County, a daughter of the late Boyd and Laura Belle Lycans. Her husband, Harold
Stephens also preceded her in death, along with two sisters, Mary Asbury and
Magalie Hutchinson; three brothers, Cabell Lycans, Wallace Lycans, and Homer
Lyons; and one son Markie Stephens. Georgia was a member of the Little Lynn
Church of God and retired from the Wayne County Board of Education. Survivors
include two sons, David Stephens and his wife Connie, Harold Stephens Jr.; and
his wife Debbie; one daughter, Dianna Pelfrey and her husband Bill, all of
Wayne; eight grandchildren, Harold Ray Stephens, Alisha Damron, Sarah Shadd,
Susan Stephens, Candy Pelfrey, Billie Jo Castte, Amy Stephens, and Michhelle
Stephens; and 15 great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Charlie
Lycans and Fletcher Boyd Lycans; one sister, Deanna Lycans; and a host of
friends and family. Services were held 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at
Johnson Tiller Funeral Home with Pastor Otis Bowen officiating. Burial followed

LOUVADA S. JONES, 92, of Louisa passed away on
October 16, 2010. She was preceded in death by her parents Andrew Skeens and
Clara Fannin Skeens and her husband James E. "Ed" Jones along with five sisters
and one brother. She is survived by four daughters; Laura Jame [Paul] Moore of
Louisa, Clara J. [William] Elkins of Louisa, Mary I. [John] Hogsten of
Flatwoods, Sandra J. [Larry] of Manistee Michigan, one son; Wayne A. [Elsie]
Jones of Louisa in addition to six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

E. BLAINE EDDY, 82, formerly of of Huntington, WV
died Sunday October 17, 2010 at Chateau Grove Senior Living Center. He was born
May 26, 1928 in Ritchie Co., WV a son of the late Herbert and Dimpsie Cunningham
Eddy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Jack; one
sister, Ernestine ands one brother, Robert. Blaine retired from the U.S. Army as
Chief Warrant Officer W4 and Ashland Oil where he was an accounting system
analyst. He was active in many service organizations and was a member of Kenova
United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife,Theodosia to whom he would
have been married 60 years on November 23rd; two daughters, Sara and Nancy and
her husband Joe; one son Blaine and his wife Gloria; one sister, Eleanor; four
granddaughters, Jackie, Amanda, Meghan and Jennifer and two great grandsons;
Dakota and Evan. There will be no visitation and a private family memorial

peacefully left this world on Monday, October 18, 2010, at St. Mary's Medical
Center in Huntington, W.Va. She was born September 28, 1926, in Martin County,
Kentucky, a daughter of the late Ransom and Lura Pack Hammond. In addition to
her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters and four brothers.
Lucille was well known for her wonderful apple pies and chicken and dumplings,

them again. She is survived by her husband, James R. Corns, whom she lovingly
cared for during their 66 years of marriage; two sons and daughters-in-law,

Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at Cabell Huntington Hospital after a work-related
accident. John was born August 30, 1961, a son of Patsy Pierce Mays of Ceredo
and the late William F. Mays. He was a graduate of C-K High School. He was
employed as a steel worker by Bush & Burchett, Inc. In addition to his mother,
John is survived by one daughter, Kristin Mays of Walnut Creek, Calif.; one son,
Zack Mays of Santa Barbara, Calif.; two sisters, Karin (Mike) Dawson and Kathy
(Paul) Billups, all of Ceredo; one brother, Floyd (Christine) Mays of
Cincinnati, Ohio; his fiancée, Susan Ray of Ceredo; his nieces and nephews
Michael Dawson, Stephanie Mays, Tyler Dawson, Christopher Mays and Morgan
Billups; and his dog, Smokey. John loved riding his Harley and was passionate in
learning about Native American culture and tradition. His two children and
family were the most important joys of his life. He was a friend to all and will

"Gran," of Huntington, formerly of Wayne, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord
on Wednesday, October 20, 2010, after a brief illness, surrounded by her family
and close friends, at St. Mary's Medical Center. Funeral services will be
conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, October 23, 2010, at Booten-Millers Fork United
Baptist Church, by Rev. Johnny Jackson, Rev. Jimmie Lester and Rev. Jessie Lacy.
Internment will follow at Crook's Cemetery on Green Valley Road in Huntington.
She was the daughter of the late Lucinda Catherine Keck Adkins and Thomas
Jefferson Adkins. Also preceding her in death were two sisters, Mamie Bright and
Ona Adkins; and five brothers, Elzie, Ted, Bill, Roscoe and French Adkins. Reta
moved to Cleveland, Ohio, in 1973. While in Cleveland, she attended the Trinity
Freewill Baptist Church, and worked at St. Vincent Charity Hospital until she
retired in 1987. She was a member of Booten-Millers Fork United Baptist Church
for many years. She loved gospel music, going to yard/garage sales, sewing,
making crafts and playing games with her daughters. "Gran" loved her children
and grandchildren unconditionally. Survivors include her loving husband of 65
years, Asa Nelson; six children, Sue Keesee (Frank) of Huntington, Alice Sawyers
(Jerry) of Cleveland, Greg Nelson (Sabine) of Cleveland, Cindy Adkins (Ralph) of
Sheffield Lake, Ohio, Rhonda Ferris (Eddie) of Huntington, Charlie Nelson
(Kathy) of Cleveland, and her special niece June Thompson of Lavalette, W.Va.,
whom she considered one of her children; 16 grandchildren, Katie, Keith, Kevin,
Jennifer, Tina, Keith, Johnna, Anna, Stacey, Scott, Jason, David, Brian, Rachel,
Rebecca and Chanda, 13 great-grandchildren, Lexi, Justin, Jeremy, Emilee, Adam,

Thursday, October 21, 2010 at Three Rivers Medical Center in Louisa. Born July

BILLIE K. FITZ, age 82, entered into rest with the
Lord on October 22, 2010 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in
Huntington, West Virginia on June 26, 1928, the son of George William and
Blanche Mae (Black) Fitz. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He
was well known for his great love for people. He proudly served his country in
the U.S. Army 7th Infantry Division during World War H. He re-enlisted in 1948
and served with the 3rd Infantry Division in Korea. He received numerous
military honors and recognition including the Purple Heart. Billie married the
former Belverine Ramey on January 10, 1953 in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Billie leaves
to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, Belverine; a daughter; Sandra Lou Ann;
a son, Barry Kevin, his wife Crystal and daughter, Ashley; a son Brian Kelly,
and his wife Belinda; his grandchildren; a granddaughter, Jessica Marie and four
grandsons, Barry Kevin II, and his wife, Katie and son, Baron Kennedy
(great-grandson), Brandon Kyle, Billie Kenneth and Benjamin Keith Fitz. There
are three sisters-in- law, Evelene Smith, and Madeline Ramey, both of West
Virginia as well as Flonnie Anderson of Tazewell, Tennessee; many nieces,
nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and aunts and uncles honor his memory.
Billie was preceded in death by his father, George W. Fitz in 1941, his mother,
Blanche Mae Gibson in 1966, his brother, The Rev. Lewis E. Anderson in 1999, a
sister, Lillie Mae Derryberry in 2009 and twin brothers at birth in 1931. He is
a graduate of Willow Run High School and attended Cleary Business College. 'He
received his marketing degree from Colorado University in 1972. He was employed
in various occupations before beginning his banking career where he spent
thirty-nine years working in financial services. He retired from FMB-Oceana Bank
as Chairman, President and C.E.O. in 1992. He was a prestigious contributor to
the community in the following organizations: He served on the Oceana EDC Board.
He was an organizing member for the National Asparagus Festival Committee. He
served with the Muskegon-Oceana Chapter of the American Red Cross, the
Hart-Silver Lake Chamber of Commerce, and was a member of the Community
Foundation of Oceana County Board of Directors from 1989-93. Billie was a member
of the Hart Rotary Club and Past-President (1974-75), and was a Paul Harris
Fellow. He was president of the Mid-Michigan Chapter of BAI in 1989-90 and past
chairman of the Michigan Bankers Association Group VI in 1984-85. In 1987-91, he
was a member of the MBA Executive Committee. He was a member of the Masonic
Order Blue Lodge AF + AM Scottish Rites, York Rites and a Shriner. He was an
active member of VFW Post #1329 in Hart, Michigan as well as the American Legion
Post #93, in Kenova, West Virginia. He requested that in lieu of flowers,
memorials may be made to the Hart Rotary Scholarship Fund, The American Heart
Association, The Shriners Hospital For Children, or a charity of your choice.

Carmal Saunders; two grandsons, Russel Paul Redding and Roger Dale Dillon II;
and one brother-in-law, Arnold Hazlett. She was a loving mother to her three
daughters, Barbara Sue Atkins of Ceredo, Shelia Kay (Russel) Redding of
Fairburn, Ga., and Lisa Booth of Ceredo. Beulah loved her grandchildren, Stacey
Perry and Ted Pack of Fort Gay, W.Va., Joshua and Brooke Booth, Ryan and Ashley

of Huntington and East Lynn; son of the late Oscar and Pauline Morrison. He was
born December 8, 1944 and died Saturday, October 23, 2010 in Lower Cape Fear
Hospice and Care center, Wilmington, NC. In addition to his parents, Freelin was
preceded in death by his brother Norman Dell Morrison and a brother-in-law,
Donald Dean Donahoe. Freelin is survived by his wife Gail Sawyer Morrison,

and friends by his side. He was born July 14, 1927. He was the son of the late
Columbus "Lum" and Myrtle Merritt Mills. He was also preceded in death by his
wife of 63 years, Bessie Watson Mills. Also two sisters, Bessie Perry and Hazel
Clay; two brothers, Paul and Luther "Bush" Mills; one sister-in-law, Louise
Davidson; and mother- and father-in-law, Lacy and Lucinda Watson. Survivors
include son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Phyllis Hunt Mills, and his girls,

proud service in the U.S. Navy, Arthur was proud to have been a co-founder of
the Toyota Science on Wheels Program. He was also a member of the VFW 1064, life
member of the DAV, a member of Crescent Lodge #32, Scottish Rite and El Hasa
Shiners and a graduate of Marshall University. Arthur was born on February 18,
1934, in Huntington, the son of the late Arthur and Ethel Grove Cloninger. In

Friday, Oct. 29, 2010, at the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio. Funeral

Roscoe was born Sept. 23, 1934 in Logan County, W.Va., a son of the late Roscoe
Hale Sr. and Nora Lea Elkins Hale. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having
served during the Korean War era. Roscoe earned his bachelor's and master's
degrees from Marshall University and his doctorate from Ohio University. He was
the principal at Buffalo High School before moving to teach at Marshall
University in the college of education, where he was also the interim dean of
the College of Education. He attended the Trinity Church of God for many years,
where he also served as a council member. Survivors include his wife, Betty Eder

LEROY MONROE "JIMBO" RAMEY, Jr., 30, of Branchiand,
W.Va., died Friday, October 29, 2010 at St. Mary's Medical Center. He was born
December 27,
1979 in Huntington, W.Va., a son of Ethel Vance Ramey and Leroy "Jim" Ramey, Sr.
also of Branchland. His sister Donna Jean Pritchard Eastham and his brother
Ronnie Pritchard preceded him in death along with maternal grandparents , Grover
and Martha Merritt Vance; paternal grandparents Emma and Homer Ramey; and one
cousin, Dallas Morrison. In addition to his parents, Jimbo is survived by one
brother, Donavin "Donnie" Pritchard Jr.; three aunts, Jean Morrison, Betty
Adkins and Wilma Stewart; three uncles, Grover, David, and Darrin Vance; five
nieces, Sarah Bryant, Brandy Donahue, Millie Eastham, Martha Eastham, and Emma
Pritchard; one nephew, Clyde Eastham; four great-nieces; four great-nephews; and
many, many cousins. Jimbo was loved by everyone and will be sorely missed.
Funeral services were conducted 1, p.m. Monday, November 1, 2010 at Johnson
Tiller; Funeral Home with Pastor Jack Marcum officiating. Burial followed in the
Ramey Cemetery. Visitation was held Sunday evening.

MAX JULIAN ROBINETT, 78, husband of Lorene Hardwick
Robinett, passed away early Saturday morning, October 30, 2010, at his home in
Rochester, Minnesota. For three years he had received treatment for lung cancer
at the Mayo Clinic. He was the son of the late Mike J. and Eliza Robinett of
Wayne, W.Va. A brother, Leonard Robinette of Bluefield, W.Va., and an infant
son, Mark J. Robinett, also preceded him in death. Funeral services will be
conducted 11 a.m. Friday, November 5, 2010, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel,
Wayne, by Rev. Jim Plyburn and Pastor Fred Ferguson. Burial will follow at
Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington, W.Va. Also surviving is a daughter, Marian
Jean Robinett of Rochester, Minnesota, and a son, Martin J. Robinett and wife
Carolyn, and granddaughter, Chloe of Marysville, Washington. He also leaves
behind two sisters, Gladys Robinett Workman of Wayne, Helen Robinett Jackson and
husband Rudolph of Huntington, and sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Robinette of
Bluefield, Lena Mae Watts of Wayne, Ruth Ann Benner and husband Danny of
Thornville, Ohio. His nieces include Dr. Carol Workman Carico and husband Dr.
Gregory Carico of Wayne, Linda Daniels Rowe and husband Tom of Sumter, S.C.;
nephews Tom Robinette, whom he regarded as a brother, and his wife Joyce of
Cross Lanes, W.Va., and Mike Watts and wife Wanda of Wayne. A beloved aunt,
Nannie Robinette Skeens, 106 years old, as well as many other nieces, nephews,
cousins and friends, also survive. Max was a 1949 graduate of Wayne High School,
where he was the quarterback of his football team. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of
the Korean Conflict. Max received a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from
Purdue University and a Master's degree in Engineering from the University of
Pittsburgh. His first job assignment was at Westinghouse Electric, Pittsburgh.
He later moved to Rochester, where he was employed by IBM and retired from there
after 30 years of service as Program Manager in the Systems Products Division.
He was a member of Evangel United Methodist Church in Rochester. He had many
interests including sports, music and art. He was loyal and devoted to his
family, his church, and to his many friends. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m.

BERNICE PAULINE HAZELETT, 63, of Ona, W.Va., went
home to be with her Lord on Sunday, October 31, 2010, after her courageous
battle with cancer. Bernice was born on April 29, 1947, to the late Lewis H.
Sr., and Pauline Childers. She was also preceded in death by her husband Gordon
Hazelett and one daughter, Cathy Lynn Clagg. She is survived by her children,
Christy Holley and her husband Scottie of Lesage, Duana "Dee" Sargent and her
husband Todd of Milton, W.Va., Paul "Jamie" Clagg III and his wife Trudy of
Milton, and Jeremy Hazelett of Ona. She is also survived by her beloved
grandchildren, Josh Holley and wife April, Whitlee Clagg, Madison and Taylor
Sargent; and siblings Lewis Henry Childers and wife Linda of Ocala, Fla., Janet
Miller and husband Eddie of Mountain Home, Ark., Ernie Childers and wife Donna
of Proctorville, Ohio, and numerous nephews, nieces and friends. Bernice was a
retired secretary from the VA Hospital Surgical Department in Huntington, W.Va.,
and was a member of Beulah Ann Missionary Baptist Church in Ona. She was known
by many for her delicious cakes and baked goods. Visitation will be from 6 to 9
p.m. Wednesday at Wallace Funeral Home, Milton. Funeral services will be
conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 4, 2010, at Beulah Ann Missionary
Baptist Church, Ona, by Pastor Paul Meadows. Burial will be in Arthur Cemetery.

GENEVA BALL, 82, of Fairborn, Ohio, formerly of
Kenova, W.Va., passed away Sunday, October 31, 2010, in Green Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, November 4, 2010, at Rollins
Funeral Home, Kenova, with Rev. Bill Blankenship officiating. Interment will
follow in Dock's Creek Cemetery. Geneva was born January 28, 1928, in Wayne
County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Alva and Myrtle Crabtree Ball. Besides her
parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Beatrice Hatten and Reba
Riggs, and one brother, J.D. Ball. Survivors include one sister, Audrey Neal of
Fairborn, Ohio; one brother and sister-in-law Carlos (Mary) Ball of Huntington,
W.Va.; a special niece, Mary Steinbarger, who helped care for Geneva for many
years, and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m.
