RUSSELL
GWINN PRICHARD, 69, of Wayne passed away Jan. 1, 2011, at the Emogene
Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington. He was born Sept. 20, 1941, in
Huntington, a son of the late Russell and Helen Gwinn Prichard. He is survived
by his daughter, Lisa Prichard of Huntington; his sister, Patricia Crews and her
husband, Buck of Huntington; nieces, Cathy Kowalski of Charlotte, N.C., and
Leslie Newlin of Nokesville, Va.; and a special cousin, B.G. Prichard of Wayne.
A private funeral service will be held Tuesday. While flowers are appreciated,

PEARL JEAN WISE, 76, of Ashland, Ky., went to be
with the Lord on Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011. Funeral services will be conducted at 2
p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011, at the Sunshine Freewill Baptist Church by Pastor
Jody Fortner, Brother Justin May and Pastor Willie May. Burial will follow at
Docks Creek Cemetery, Kenova, W.Va. Jean was born Aug. 3, 1934, in Wayne County,
W.Va., the daughter of the late Pearl and Jessie Dean Skeens. In addition to her
parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Wise. Jean was a
homemaker and a member of the Sunshine Freewill Baptist Church. She is survived
by her son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Julie Wise of Huntington, a daughter and
son-in-law, Sandy and Willie May of Ashland, Ky.; three grandchildren, Kristen
May, Justin May and Mindy Christian; and a great-grandson on the way, Kyson May;
two special nieces, Arlene Emorse of Indiana and Linda Chaffin of Ohio; and

ALBERT LEE HODGES, 80, of The Woodlands Retirement
Community, Huntington, W.Va., entered into Heaven on Saturday, January 1, 2011.
He was born February 2, 1930, in Kanawha County, W.Va., to the late Andrew
Hodges and Goldie Bell Wiseman Hodges. He was retired from AEP after 46 years of
service. He was a member and served as a Deacon of the Locust Grove Baptist
Church. Survivors include his loving wife and the love of his life for 62 years,
Anna Lois McCormick Hodges. As the song says, "If I get there before you do,
we've had victory and tears. We've been blessed with many years and, with love,
I'll be looking for you." Children include Gary (Brenda) Hodges of Lavalette,
W.Va., Connie (Bill) Hendren of Lancaster, Ohio, Gail (Terry) Talbert of
Huntington, W.Va., and Vickie Lynn Hodges, now deceased. He is also survived by
the grandchildren and great-grandchildren that brought him many years of joy.
Granchildren are Shane (Amanda) Belcher of Statesboro, Ga., Kelli Belcher Pinan
of Lancaster, Ohio, Kristen (Kenny) Rhodes of Wayne, W.Va., Eric (Heather)
Hodges of Wayne, Lori (Billy Blakenship) Ramey of Lavalette, W.Va., and Kane
Pettry of Louisville, Ky. Great-grandchildren are Stefan Pinan, Hillary Hodges,
Chancelor Pinan, Kyle Belcher, Chantel (David Smith) Ramey, Shannon Belcher,
Hunter Copley, Chantanna Smith, Ryan Rhodes, Jadyn Rule, Sam Hodges, Drew Rhodes
and Addison Belcher; brother Russell Hodges of St. Albans, W.Va.,
brothers-in-law Bernie, Rex and Herbert McCormick; sisters-in-law Revelle Smith,
Edna Baker, Glenna Anderson, Laverne Bonhag; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Also preceding him in death are siblings James, Lyburn, Yvonne and Phyllis. The
family will receive friends Wednesday evening January 5th from 6 to 9 p.m. at
Morris Funeral Home, Wayne. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m.
Thursday, January 6, 2011, by Pastor Randall Robertson and Pastor Fred Ferguson.
Burial will follow at the Hodges Family Cemetery, Poplar Fork, W.Va. The family
requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the youth programs of
Locust Grove Baptist Church and the Wayne Baptist Church. The family also wishes
that a special "thank you" be extended to the staff of Woodlands Health Care and
Hospice of Huntington.

MARY F. HOUDYSCHELL, 68, of Huntington, W.Va., went
to be with the Lord, Saturday, January 1, 2011, at St. Mary's Medical Center.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Christ Temple Church,
Huntington, by Pastor Chuck Lawrence, Rev. Kenneth Sexton and Pastor Keith
Watters; burial will follow in Spring Valley Memory Gardens, Huntington. Mary
was born July 10, 1942, in Huntington, W.Va., a daughter of the late Roscoe
Milton and Ida Mae Prater Sexton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded
in death by 10 brothers and sisters, Stella, Virginia, Ernie, Bob, Marie, Ruth,
Joe, Jerry, Elma and William; and a niece, Tina. Mary was a homemaker and a
member of Christ Temple Church. She is survived by her husband, Charles P.
Houdyschell; and five sons and spouses, Charles Houdyschell Jr. (Jendonnae) of
Ona, W.Va., Tim (Lisa) Houdyschell of Kenova, W.Va., Jonathan (Robin)
Houdyschell of Orlando, Fla., David (Jackie) Houdyschell of Washington, D.C.,
and Kenneth Houdyschell and his fiancee' Christie Gray of Ironton, Ohio; four
grandchildren, Jacob Houdyschell, Caleb Houdyschell, Lydia Houdyschell and
Rachel Houdyschell. In addition, one sister, Juanita "Ann" Mynes of Huntington
and a host of nieces and nephews, including two special nieces, Visa and Carol,
survive. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2011, at the
Reger Funeral Home and again at the church from 9:30 a.m. until service time
Wednesday.

LAFE MARCUM, 88, of Fort Gay passed away Saturday,
Jan. 1, 2011 at his home. He was born in Stone Coal. He was a retired coal miner
and welder for ACF Industries and a member of the Freewill Baptist Church. He is
preceded in death by his parents Joseph Marcum and Eliza Herald Marcum. He is
survived by Evadean Marcum of Fort Gay, three daughters; Deanna (Tom) Caudill of
Fort Gay, Arlene (Tom) Ellis of Pikeville, Vicki (Scott) Naugle of Louisa, three
sons; Billy Joe (Barbara) Marcum of Fort Gay, Lafayette (Chris) Marcum Jr. of
Michigan City, Indiana, David Wayne (Anita) Marcum of Grove City, OH, three
sisters; Stella Marcum and Callie Payne both of Grove City, OH and Carol
Gearhart of Columbus, in addition to 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grand-children
and a great-great-grandson. Services were conducted Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011 at 1
p.m. at the Wilson Funeral Home with Lafe Marcum, John Henry Stevens and Danny
Collier officiating. Burial followed in the Marcum Family Cemetery at Hewlett.

TERRY W. WALKER, 56, of Kenova, W.Va., died Sunday,
January 2, 2011, at his home. He was born April 11, 1954, in Kenova, a son of
Mary E. "Libby" Roehrer Walker Reed of Kenova and the late Robert F. Walker.
Terry was a graduate of C-K High School. In addition to his mother, he is
survived by a sister, Ann Banton of Lexington, Ky., and a host of cousins,
family and friends. Terry will be sadly missed by all who knew him. The family
will receive friends between noon and 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 5, 2011, at
which time the funeral service will begin, at Rollins Funeral Home, Kenova, with

INEZ MAE CARRICO, 93, of Huntington, W.Va., died,
Monday, January 3, 2011 in Heartland of Riverview, South Point, Ohio. A
celebration of her life will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, January 7, 2011, at
Henson Mortuary, Barboursville, W.Va., with the Rev. Dr. Gary Shepard
officiating. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville.
She was born February 21, 1917, in Wayne County, W.Va., the daughter of the late
Charles and Cassie Mae Spurlock Dick. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in
death by her husband John Carrico; a daughter Bebe Sue Carrico; grandaughter
Laura Beth Carrico, and by a special cousin, Katherine C. Gregory. She is
survived by two daughters and son-in-laws, Gigi and Tim Gerlach of Huntington,
W.Va., and Nancy and Bob Sibole of Nashville, Tenn.; one son and
daughter-in-law, Larry and Carol Carrico of Ona, W.Va.; 10 grandchildren, Angie
Ramthrun, Matt Sibole, Craig Gerlach, Heather Willis, Jessica Pralle, Scott
Gerlach, John Gerlach, Sarah Henderson, Kathy Carrico, Emily Carrico; 11
great-grandchildren. The family wishes to give special thanks to the 300 wing
staff at Heartland of Riverview and Dr. David Apgar and his staff for their care
to our mother. She was loved and adored by all who knew her as Carrico, Aunt

OSCAR JUNIOR WINTZ, 81, of Prichard, W.Va., passed
away Monday, January 3, 2011, in St. Mary's Medical Center. He was born May 27,
1929, in Lesage, Cabell County, W.Va., a son of the late Walter Oscar and Alice
Jane Nance Wintz. He was also preceded in death by four sisters, Jo Ann Dempsey,
Betty Blake, Shirley Bird and Pearl Cabell, and a granddaughter, Cristal Gibson.
He retired after 34 years with the former ACF Industries and was a U.S. Army
veteran. He was a member of Mount Union Baptist church of Lesage, and was an
avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Survivors include his loving
family, Margaret and Frank Olmstead of Prichard; three sons and
daughters-in-law, Eric and Tammy Wintz of Huntington, Chris and Cheryl Wintz of
Gallipolis, Ohio, and Scott and Shanna Wintz of South Charleston, W.Va.; three
daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Jerry Spence of Winchester, Va., Cheryl and
Mike Shaw of Lesage and Robin Scarberry of Lesageand her friend Joe Hodge; a
sister, Patty Cremeans of Huntington; five brothers, Jack Wintz, Jim Wintz, Carl
Wintz, Bob Wintz and Earl Wintz, all of Lesage, W.Va.; 13 grandchildren; 10
great-grandchildren; and several special nieces and nephews, including Mike

SHAYDE STEELE, 78, of Kenova, W.Va., passed away on
Wednesday, January 5, 2011, at Wayne Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wayne,
W.Va. He was born September 4, 1932, in Mingo County, W.Va., a son of the late
Shayde Sr. and Recie Willis Steele. He was retired from the Education Emporium.
Shayde was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kenova. In addition to his
parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Violet Steele; three brothers,
Elmer, Dorsel and Gary Steele. He was a Past Master of Kenova Masonic Lodge #110
AF&AM, whose members will conduct graveside rites. He is survived by one
daughter, Judy Ellen McCormick of Kenova; two grandsons, Matthew Shane McCormick
and Garrett Lee McCormick, both of Huntington; three sisters and one
brother-in-law, Evelyn Dean of Red Jacket, W.Va., Marie Daughtery of Royal, Va.,
and Pauline and Walter Parks of Kenova; and two sisters-in-law, Daisy Steele of
Red Jacket and Loretta Steele of Lavalette, W.Va. Friends may call from 11 to 1

TAMMY SUE DILLON, 43, of Stone Coal, passed away,
January 5, 2011. She was born August 11, 1967 in Mingo County. She was the
daughter of Sue Fuller Dillon and the late Hobart Dillon. She is survived by her
husband, Kelly Mollett of Kermit, brother Tayler (Sandy) Dillon of Crum, three
sisters; Laura Ann (Jeff) Crum, Gracie (Harold) Brewer, both of Kermit, and
Debbie (Randy) Meddings of Fort Gay and one special friend, Jessicca Hinkle
Spaulding of Columbus, OH. Funeral services were held on Sunday, January 9, 2011
at the Golden Springs Free Will Baptist Church. Arrangements were by the Phelps
and Son Funeral Home of Inez, Kentucky.

BOBBY GENE BOWENS, 73, of Stepptown passed away on
January 6, 2011. He was a carpet installer. He is preceded in death by his
parents William Bowens and Nora Niece Bowens and a daughter Cheryl Bowens. He is
survived by his wife Claudia C. Bowens of Stepptown, four daughters; Dianna
Bowen Reeves of Lockbourne, Ohio, Michelle (Russ Harbour) Bowens of Jackson,
Ohio and Kim (Jim) Devine of Ashville, Ohio, one son, Robert (Laura) Bowens of
Circleville, Ohio, one sister, Correna Miller of Nanatuck WVa., along with
several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled
for Saturday January 8, aft 11 a.m. in Young Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev.
Ronnie Marcum officiating. Burial will follow in the Bowen Cemetery in Webb.

JESSIE WALLACE NAPIER, 95, of Big Hurricane Creek,
Prichard, WV, passed away January 6, 2011 at the Hospice House in Huntington.
She was born on June 26, 1915 on Brush Creek, WV. She was the daughter of the
late Dan and Georgia May Wallace and was a homemaker and a member of the Brush
Creek United Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in
death by her husband, Boyd Napier. She is survived by three sons, Cebron
Browning of Prichard, WV, Elva Maynard of Ceredo, WV, and Robert Maynard of
Kenova, WV; six grandchildren, Brenda Whitlow and husband Chris of Georgia,
Jessie Mae Smith of Oklahoma, Jimmie Dale Maynard of Kenova, Dempsey Browning
and wife Lois of Ft. Gay, Robert Maynard, Jr. and wife Jill of Kenova, and
Charles Edward Browning of Prichard; and two great grandchildren, Courtney and
Josh. Amanda & Clayton. To the people of Wayne County who knew our mother, our

BRIANNA MICHELLE BREWER, 17, of Prichard, W.Va.,
died Tuesday, February 8, 2011, from injuries sustained in an automobile
accident. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, February 11,
2011, at the Silver Creek United Baptist Church, Crum, W.Va., of which she was a
member, by Rev. Steve Ramey, Rev. Otis Lynn Dillon and Rev. Aaron Walker. Burial
will follow at the Prince Family Cemetery, Prichard, W.Va. She was born October
20, 1993, in Huntington, W.Va., a daughter of the late Kent and Bethana Faye
Prince Brewer. Brianna was a junior at Tolsia High School, where she was a
cheerleader and member of the Beta Club, Teen Institute, Bible Club, H.O.B.Y.,
and Select Honors Program. Survivors include her grandparents, J.D. and Myrtie
Prince of Prichard, with whom she made her home, and Sandy Messer of North
Carolina; two sisters, Courtney Boyer and husband Justin of Huntington, and
Alexis Carter Bouallagui and husband Shady of Prichard; two brothers, Derrick
Evans and Ryan Prince, both of Prichard; special cousins Adam and Chelsea Muncy,
J.J. and Cody Salmons, Olivia, Zach and Noah Ramey, and Samantha and Kim
Endicott; aunts and uncles Teresa Muncy and husband Basil, Jennifer Endicott and

PHYLLIS FERGUSON MILLER, 67, of Sumter, S.C., wife
of J.D. Miller, died Saturday, January 8, 2011, at Tuomey Regional Medical
Center. Born in Ceredo-Kenova, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Morton
Ferguson and the late Ruth Scarberry Ferguson. She was a beloved wife and
mother. Survivors besides her husband include two daughters, Nancy Jean Peterson
(Chris) of Sumter and Debora Lynn Davis of Sumter; six grandchildren,
Christopher Ray Capell, Kevin Wayne Capell, Stacy Renee Capell, Chelsee Ann
Davis, Breanna Lee Davis and Daniel Austin Davis; two great-grandchildren,
Bethany Jean Hodge and Landon Scott Roe; five brothers, Tommy Ferguson of
Washington, Charlie Ferguson of Knoxville, Tenn., Clarence Ferguson of Ohio,
Terry Ferguson and Ronnie Ferguson, both of Huntington, W.Va.; and two sisters,
Deloris Smith of Knoxville, Tenn., and Mary Spurlock of Kentucky. She was
preceded in death by a sister, Linda Carol Workman. Funeral services will be
held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel.
Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive
friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and

BETTY JANE PELFREY, 75, of Wayne, W.Va., went home
to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 9, 2011. She was born January 10, 1935,
in Boyd County, Ky., a daughter of the late Clarence and Laura Belle Pierce. Her
son, Harold Lee "Bug" Pelfrey also preceded her in death, along with two
sisters, Louise Barker and Pauline Ross; two sisters-in-law, Hazel Pierce and
Eunice Pelfrey Tomblin; son-in-law Lyle Edward "Mickey" James, and two
daughters, Alberta Lewis and Samantha Fields. Betty was a member of the Laurel
Freewill Baptist Church for 62 years, where she taught Sunday school. She leaves
behind her husband of 59 years, Harold Lee Pelfrey; one son, Bill Pelfrey and
his wife Dianna of Wayne; one daughter, Barbara James of Huntington, W.Va.; four
grandchildren, Laura Aliff of East Lynn, W.Va., Candy Pelfrey, Morgan Smith,
both of Wayne, and Billie Castle of Prichard, W.Va.; 11 great-grandchildren,
Clifford Workman of Huntington, Janie Workman of East Lynn, Alexis Robertson,
Billy Robertson, Kylie Smith, Colt Jaxson Smith, Kori Smith, all of Wayne, Macy
Castle, Austin Castle, Gabriel Castle and Zoey Castle, all of Prichard; five
step-grandchildren, Rebecca McComas, Shelly Braley, Jessica Eplin, Michelle
McFee and Rhonda Hicks. Also surviving are two sisters, Brenda Ross and her
husband Arden of East Lynn, and Bonnie Stiltner of Genoa, W.Va.; two brothers,
Donald Pierce of East Lynn, and Herman E. Pierce and his wife Phyllis of
Huntington; several nieces and nephews, and friends too numerous to mention.
Betty also leaves behind her friend Betty Fenton, who went above and beyond to
care for her and came to be a part of the family, and the staff of CB&H, whom
Betty loved as sons. The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of
Huntington for their love and support. Funeral will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday,
January 14, 2011, at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home, Wayne, with Pastor Jerry
Casteel and Minister Sam Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in Community
Memorial Gardens, Wayne. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral
home.

Born February 22, 1907, in Wayne County, ELIZABETH T.
FERGUSON BORDER LILES, lovingly known as Aunt 'C', was the daughter of
the late John and Laura Porter Ferguson. She went peacefully to be joined with
her heavenly Father on January 9, 2011, at the age of 103. The last surviving
sibling in a family of nine children, she was preceded in death by brothers Jay,
Harvey, Pat, John, Sherman and Charlie Ferguson. Also preceded by sisters Cassie
Queen and Lucy Mae Woolcock. Two sons, now deceased, were Dr. Clinton Border Jr.
and Jay Border, along with her first husband, Dr. Clinton Border Sr., and
husband Russell Liles. Surviving are several nieces and nephews, Charles
Woolcock (Mertie) being the one who gave her his full attention and care.
Elizabeth, "Beth," was a retired nurse and lived her life being a caregiver,
particularly to a niece, Louise Ferguson, who made her home with Elizabeth.
Elizabeth enjoyed some 30-years living in Florida, walking the beach, before
returning to West Virginia to be near family. She was a member of Highlawn
Presbyterian Church and appreciated the many kindnesses of friends and members
there. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to Highlawn Presbyterian
Church, 2814 Collis Avenue, Huntington, WV 25702. Funeral services will be
conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 13, 2011, at the Wallace Funeral Home &
Chapel, Barboursville, by Dr. Rick Wilson. Burial will be in Woodmere Memorial
Park, Huntington. Visitation will be after 1 p.m. Thursday at the Wallace
Funeral Home.

SANDRA JERALDINE DEMARCO,73,ofChesapeake, Ohio,
went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 9, 2011. She was born July 14, 1937
in Huntington, W.Va., a daughter of the late Herman and Olive Burd. Four
brothers, Otis Burd, Foster Burd, Junior Burd and Teddy Burd, also preceded her
in death, along with four sisters, Betty Henderson, Linda Wilburn, Lilly Burd,
and Doris Carrol Cook. Sandy was a performer and a memberof the Moose Lodge in
Las Vegas, Nev. She leaves behind two daughters, Laura Piccolomini and husband
Raymond of Cleveland, Oh., and Susan Adkins and husband Johnny of Huntington;
one son, Michael DeMarco of Chesapeake; three grandchildren, Andriana Ambrose
and her husband John of Cleveland, Patrick DeMarco of Huntington, and Martena
DeMarco of Wayne, W.Va.; and one great-grandson, JohNny Ray Ambrose of
Cleveland. Also surviving are six sisters, Tina Kirk of Huntington, Sherry

formerly of Wayne, W.Va., passed away Monday, January 10, 2011, in Baton Rouge,

and Linda Mills Jones and husband Dave of Wayne, who loved him more than life.
He was employed as a diesel mechanic for Polar Enterprises in Gramercy, La., and
was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. Three grandfathers, Jr. Ramey, Glen
Mills and Taylor Mills, preceded him in death. Additional survivors include
three sons, Keaton Allen Ramey, 12, and Patrick James Ramey, 11, and their
mother, Kelly Ramey, of New Orleans, La., and Corey Taylor Ramey of Florida; two
grandmothers who loved him dearly, Louise Ramey Moorehouse of Wayne, and Theo
Mills of East Lynn, W.Va.; a special aunt Sissy, also of East Lynn; a brother,

ZANE WETZEL PARSONS, 80, of Kenova, W.Va., died,

was born April 7, 1930, a son of the late James W. and Ella Skeen Parsons in

postmaster at the Ceredo, W.Va., post office. In addition to his parents Zane
was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou Reese Parsons; an infant son,
Richard Allen Parsons and two brothers, William Dale Parsons and Orel Adair
Parsons. He is survived by one son, Zane Parsons Jr. of Kenova. Zane was a
founder of the Museum of Radio and Technology in Huntington. A U.S. patent
holder and a Kentucky Colonel. He was a ham radio operator and a charter member
of the Sissonville VFW Post #3066. He was a U.S. Army veteran and members of
American Legion Post #93 Kenova will conduct graveside military rites. He was a

RALPH BENNETT ELMORE, 68, of Huntington, W.Va.,
passed away on Tuesday, January 11, 2011, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice
House in Huntington. He was born July 11, 1942, son of the late Lamech and
Hattie Lou Bancroft Elmore. Ralph retired from Special Metals, where he was a
maintenance foreman, after 28 years of service. He then spent several years as a
sheet metal worker for General Refrigeration. Ralph was also the Water Operator
for the Town of Ceredo for 20 years. He was a member of Kenova United Methodist
Church and a former member of Westmoreland United Methodist Church, where he
served as youth director, taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. In
addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by one sister, Mattie
Smith. He is survived by his wife, Karla Duncan Elmore; one daughter and
son-in-law, Alicia and Michael Watts of Ona, W.Va., and granddaughter Holly
Grace; one son and daughter-in-law, Ralph Bennett Jr. and Stacie Elmore of
Madison, Ala., and grandson Noah Bennett and granddaughter Lauren Emily; one
sister, Clara Fitzpatrick of Ohio; two brothers, Jimmy Elmore of Florida and
Mickey Elmore of Tennessee; and his special companions, his dogs, Bishop, Parson

GLENNALEE WELLMAN FULKS, 77 years old from
Chesapeake, Ohio, died Wednesday, January 12, 2011, from a second courageous
battle with cancer, at St. Mary's Medical Center. She was born June 10, 1933, in
Wayne, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Arnold and Edith "Dutch" Wellman.
She took great pride in being a wonderful homemaker, wife and mother. She was
member of the Chesapeake United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband
Leland Donald Fulks, whom she married on May 12, 1961; one daughter Alice and
one son Matt, both of Chesapeake; her twin sister Otalee and her husband Joe
Reynolds of Reynoldsburg Ohio; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack and Anna
Wellman and Jerry and Deedy Wellman, all of Wayne, West Virginia; and one
brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jack and Joyce Fulks of Chesapeake, Ohio. She
was a very special Aunt Glenna to many special nieces and nephews, including

Center, Louisa, Ky. She was born August 3, 1964, at Cape Canaveral Hospital,
Cocoa Beach, Fla., the daughter of Alder Francis Castanoli Jr. of Huntington and
the late Sara Marie Manilla Castanoli. In addition to her father, she is
survived by a sister, Denise Marie Castanoli Parker and husband Keith Circle of
Athens, W.Va. Suzanne was a graduate of Huntington High School and an avid
participant in the Special Olympics. Suzanne spent the past eight years in the
warm and loving care of the Wilson family, who gave her unlimited attention and
unwavering devotion. The Wilson family includes Mom and Dad, Glen and Julia
Wilson; sisters Bernice Endicott, Gail Scarberry and Shirley Fannin; brothers,

Martin Lewis. Two brothers, Kenneth L. Lewis and Jimmy Lewis, also preceded her
in death. She was a wonderful mother to Steven L. Davis and wife Sara, Lisa M.
Davis, Rebecca D. Davis-Zuelke and husband Jae. Doris was the Grandma "Mawsy" to
LeAnn, Jessica, Shannon, Christian, Airon, Caitlin and Kelsey;
great-granddaughter, Janessa; also an adopted niece, Katillia Martin. Also
surviving is one brother, Charles Lewis and wife DiAnne; and many nieces and
nephews. Doris leaves behind a testament of courage, hope and kindness. A member
of Steele Memorial Church, upon her initial illness, Doris found comfort in many

Friday, January 14, 2011 at the St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington. She was
born May 19, 1938 in Wayne County to the late Everett and Spicie (Dingess)
Watts. Mrs. Watts was employed at the Fairhaven Rest Home for several years
before retiring. She is survived by her husband William Watts, a son Ronnie and
his wife Ernielee Copley of Ceredo, three sisters, Martha Simms of North
Carolina, Nancy Fraley of Ceredo, and Annis and Teddy Dates of Huntington.
Additional survivors include three grandchildren Ronnie Lee Copley, Candy Ann

Charles of Ona, W.Va., Bradley Martin of Suwanee, Ga., Brian Ramey of Wayne,
David Coleman and Hannah Coleman, both of Lavalette, Luke Maynard and Olivia
Maynard, both of Wayne, Derek Coleman, Shannon Coleman, and Lauren Coleman, all
of Roanoke, Va., and four great-grandchildren, Mason Slagel, Georgia Slagel, and
Lilly Kate Slagel, all of Ironton, Ohio, and Grant Goad of Ona. She was
interested in politics and current events and stayed up to date on what was
happening in the world. Her mind was alert and she loved to solve word puzzles
and play board games. The last 18 months, Ruth spent with her daughter in
Florida where she sat in the sunshine and made many sweet friends. We loved her.

formerly of Genoa, WV, passed away Monday, January 17, 2011 in Colorado Springs.
Funeral Mass was conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at
Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, Wayne, WV, of which she was an original
member, by Father Julian Marnini. Burial followed at the Smith Cemetery at
Genoa, WV. She was born December 24, 1915 in Detroit, MI, a daughter of the late
Joseph and Rose Magdeline Matekovich. Mary was a retired grocery store owner.
Her husband, Robert "Ernest" Grimmett and a granddaughter, Margaret Rivera, also
preceded her in death. Survivors include a son, Robert G. Grimmett, Jr. and
wife, Lillian of Colorado Springs; three grandchildren, Rosemary Good and
husband, Doug of Sterling, VA, Robert G. Grimmett, III and wife, Donna of
Honolulu, HI, and Elizabeth Alice Briggs and husband, John of Broomfield, CO;
and six great-grandchildren.

DONNA JUNE HUSSELL-ADKINS of Lavalette, W.Va., left
this earthly existence on January 18, 2011. She was the daughter of late
Huntington police officer, John F. Hussell and Betty Lou Thompson-Hussell. She
leaves behind, not only her mother, but three treasured children, Christopher
M., Dallas L. and Sara L. Adkins, all of Huntington; two special sisters,
Dorothy C. Perry and Mitzi G. Pittman; one brother, John F. Hussell II and four
beautiful grandchildren, Jacob M., Courtney M., Jayden A. and Isaiah M. Adkins.
Also surviving Donna are her beloved American Pit Bull Terriers, Prue and Piper.
She also left behind her wonderful Frank Kemble (also of Lavalette) who in the
past several months, brought her more happiness than she had known in a very
long time. She was a member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary Lodge #8850. She loved the
ocean, playing Uno and birthday cake icing, but most of all she loved people and
gave everything she had to care for them. Traditional services are being waived
as Donna was adamant about giving her body to help others as a body donor at the
Human Gift Registry at Marshall University. There will be a Celebration of Life
party at Christ Temple Church, 2400 Johnstown Rd., Huntington, W.Va., on January
29, 2011, between 4 and 6 p.m., for all those who loved her to come and share
memories together.

Tuesday, January 18, 2011, at King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky. He
was born March 24, 1944 in Evansville, Ind., a son of the late Harry N. and Ruby
Taylor Poehlein. Norman was the president/owner of Diversified Medical Alliance,
Inc. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. In addition to his parents, he was
preceded in death by two sisters. He is survived by his wife, Glenda Adkins
Poehlein; one son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Christi Poehlein of Kenova; one
daughter, Michelle Hensley of Kenova and five grandchildren, Zachary Jividen,

19,1937; she was a daughter of the late Wayne and Lilly Mae Marcum Williamson.
She went home to be with the Lord on January 26, 2011 at Three Rivers Medical
Center in Louisa, KY. She was a homemaker and a member of the Dunlow Freewill
Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Block as well as
two sisters, Alpha Ramey and Vada Williamson, as well as three brothers;
Charles, James, and Bill Williamson. Anna Mae is survived by her 5 daughters;
Judy (Alfred) Hager, Wanda (Henry) Brewer, Barbara Kenney, Kimberly (Elmer)
Ratcliff, Anna (Tony) Williamson as well as three sons; Dennis (Veva) Block,
Edgar Block, and James (Iris) Block. Anna Mae was blessed with a multitude of
grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survivedby a brother, Edgar
(Pat) Williamson and three sisters; Alice Williams, Bettie McCracken, and Brenda
(John) Charles. She will be sadly and greatly missed by a host of nieces,

Sarah Adkins Blair. Bert was a very talented man and retired from the Veterans
Administration Hospital after 25 years of service, where he worked as a
technician of nuclear medicine. He was a distinguished veteran of the U.S. Army

Elma Christian, Verta Hatten, Cynthia Burris, Australia Maynard and Bennie V.
Lycans; three brothers, Arlen Blair, Alex Blair and B.H. Blair. He is survived

was a 32 Degree Scottish Rite Mason. In addition to his parents, he was also
preceded in death by a son, Randell Scott Perry, a sister Violet Canterbury and
brothers James "Jimbo" Perry, David Perry and John Perry. Survivors include his

THELMA ADAMS ROARK, 94, departed this life on
January 25, 2011, at Wyngate Senior Living Community. She was born December 24,
1916, in Magoffin County, Ky., the daughter of Raney P. and Della Risner Adams.
In 1943, she and her late husband, Guy G. Roark, who died in 1993, left Kentucky
and moved to a farm on Little Ice Creek in Lawrence County, Ohio, were they
raised their five children. Beginning in 1953, she and her husband owned and
operated the Paramount Dry Cleaners in Kenova for 25 years and where she lived
until 2005. She was also the owner of several real estate business properties
there, until a major fire consumed them in 1999. Self-educated and a hard worker
with strong faith and values, her great interest was in flower gardening and
quilting. She was the oldest and long-time member of Westwood United Baptist
Church in Ashland. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in
death by two infant children, Deretha Fern and Guy Jr., along with a grandson,
Frank E. "Matt" Matthews III, a great-granddaughter, and a son-in-law, Frank E.
Mathews Jr.; four sisters, Gladys Crace, Audley Hunley, Ivory Crace and Flossie
Conley and a brother, Elmer D. Adams. She is survived by her five children,
Gaylord (Betty) Roark of West Jefferson, Ohio, Jewell Matthews of Huntington,
Faye (David) Todd of West Jordan, Utah, Zelda (Lt. Col. Ret. Ed) Mills of
Austin, Texas and Corbett "Corky" (Patsy) Roark of Kenova; 10 grandchildren,
Donetta (Forrest Jr.) Brock, Deretha (Robert) Hackney, and Guy II (Maggie)
Roark, all of West Jefferson, Ohio, Maureen Matthews Songer of New Orleans, La.,
Samantha Matthews (Steve) Howell of Newport News, Va., and Juliet Matthews
(Keith) Felts of Roanoke, Va.; Michael (Brenda) Todd and Beth Ann Todd of West
Jordan, Utah, Patricia Lynn Mills of Carrollton, TX; Chad (Mindy) Roark of
Kenova; 11 great-grandchildren and seven great- great-grandchildren. She is also
survived by a sister, May Schrieber, two brothers, Orville (Cathy) Adams and
Ossie Adams and one sister-in-law, Robertine Adams. The family wishes to thank
the staff of Wyngate and Hospice, as well as Dr. Cindy Pinson for all their
loving care. Funeral services will be held at Rollins Funeral Home, Kenova,
W.Va., on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 1 p.m. Visitation will be at the funeral

DANA MONROE SANDERS, 55, died January 25, 2011 at
OSU Medical Center after a long battle with cancer. Born March 23, 1955 to
Hubert Davis of Huntington, W.Va., and Phyllis Johnson and step-father Doyle
Johnson of Oceana, W.Va., he was raised by the late Levi and Verla Sanders, in
Wayne County, West Virginia. One brother, Willie Sanders of Branchland, W.Va.,
also preceded him in death, along with half-siblings Brenda Johnson of Oceana,
W.Va., Clarence Davis of Hamlin, W.Va., and William Nute McDonald of Branchland.
Dana resided in Hurricane, W.Va., with his wife Kathryn Sanders and was the
owner of Mountaineer Roofing and Construction Company. He was an avid pool
player and a member of BCA Pool League and Valley National 8-ball League
Association. In addition to his wife, survivors include children Jeffrey Sanders
of Kopperston, W.Va., Dana DeShannon Sanders of Hurricane, W.Va., Jessica
Sanders Crouse (Matthew) of Branchland, and Shanda Bragg of St. Albans, W.Va.;
step-children Larain Pike, Neil Bauman, and Kyle Bauman, all of Hurricane;
siblings Katie Mills, Lois Lambert, Harold Sanders, all of East Lynn, W.Va.,
Golden Sanders of Akron, Ohio, and Jack Sanders of Hamlin; half-siblings, Drema
Carey of South Point, Ohio, Diane Kershner of Stephenson, W.Va., Tammy Lozier of
Bolt. W.Va., Gary Davis of Cleveland. Ohio, and Jr. Davis of Branchland; seven
precious grandchildren; extended family; and many special friends. Funeral
services will be held at noon Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Johnson Tiller

home to be with the Lord at St. Mary's Medical Center on January 26, 2011. He
was born January 11, 1962, in Huntington, W.Va. He was preceded in death by his
mother, Barbara Ellen Daniels Adkins. Robert is survived by his father Eddie D.
Adkins and stepmother Karen Cherylene Adkins; a sister Donna E. Patton; a
brother Paul A. Adkins; along with nieces Laura and Abigail Patton, nephew
Joshua Adkins, and a great-niece Nadalee. Additional survivors include two aunts

the late James and Lottie Merritt Porter. He was a retired timberman for Wayne
Lumber Company, and was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church. Two sisters,

James Porter, Roy Porter and George Porter, also preceded him in death. He is
survived by his wife of 54 years, Ruby Ross Porter; three daughters, Elsie

JESSE ALLEN ROSS of Durbin Road, Catlettsburg, Ky.,
passed away Thursday evening, Jan. 27, 2011, at King's Daughters Medical Center.
Mr. Ross was 70 years of age, born Nov. 15, 1940, in Catlettsburg, a son of the
late Charles Raymond and Sallie Cyrus Ross. This native son of Boyd County has
dedicated his life to public service and to the fine residents of this county.
Jesse Allen recently accepted Christ as his personal Savior and is of the
Baptist faith. He was a graduate of Boyd County High School, class of 1959, and
attended ACC. Jesse Allen retired from Kentucky Power Company after working over
30 years as an A Lineman and Right-of-Way Agent. Always loyal to the Democrat
party, Jesse was a Boyd County Commissioner 1978-82, chairman for C.E.T.A.
(County Employee Trainer Act), Chair of Boyd Co. Annex Committee, which was
instrumental in the construction of Boyd County Courthouse Annex, assisted in
establishing the Boyd County 911 System and the formation of the England Hill,
Summit and Ironville Fire districts. He assisted in establishing and acquiring
funding for the transformation of the Ashland Public Library to the Boyd County
Public Library System, including the creation of the Catlettsburg and Summit
branches. Jesse was also a director on the Board of the Boyd County Farm Bureau
Federation, Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisor, on the Kentucky
Rural Water Association Board, commissioner for the Big Sandy Water District,
and former Cannonsburg Water District Supervisor. He developed and implemented
the County Road Standards for Boyd County, was a Kentucky Democratic Party
Delegate, served as deputy county judge executive and was on the Judicial
Nominating Commission for the 32nd Circuit and District. Other memberships
include the National Sweet Sorghum Producers and Processors Assoc., Kentucky
Mountain Saddle Horse Association, Rocky Mountain Horse Association, United
Mountain Horse/American Gaited Horse Association, and Northeastern Kentucky Fish
and Game. He was a Millennium Member of NRA. Jesse Allen loved his farm and his
horses. For years he bred and raised Thoroughbreds with a number of significant
wins to his credit. His farm is the home of Durbin Farms Sorghum, where sweet
sorghum has been raised and sorghum syrup produced for years. He loved to golf
and ski, was an avid outdoorsman and sportsman. Surviving is a son, Jeff Ross of
Catlettsburg; daughter, Rhonda Sizemore of Ashland; two grandchildren, Ross
Sizemore and Audrey Sizemore; brothers, Jimmy Ray Ross and Hugh Cyrus Ross, both
of Catlettsburg. Preceding in death was brother, Charles R. Ross Jr. Funeral
services for Jesse Allen Ross to be Monday, Jan. 31, 2011, 1 p.m. at the Neal
Funeral Home on Center Street in Catlettsburg. Brother Randy Skaggs will bring a

grandson, Darrell Lee Vanhoose; a sister, Marie Clay; and her grandfather who
raised her, Rev. Elba Eplin. She was retired from the Cabell County Board of
Education, having spent her last 10 years as principle at Davis Creek
Elementary. She was a member and former Sunday school teacher at Jefferson
Avenue Church of God. She is survived by two sons, Darrell (Ella) Vanhoose and
Delbert "Juny" Vanhoose and his wife, Penny, of Huntington; grandchildren
Elizabeth Goff, Scott Dunfee, Lisa Gill, Sheila Hunt, Jerry Vanhoose and Dr. Tim
(Lety) Vanhoose; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Martha Beckett; and a

Wayne. He was born June 19, 1921 in Wayne County, a son of the late John Bowie
and Hattie Clayton Goodman. George was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II,
having served on the U. S. S. Tangier. He Was a retired pilot and master
mechanic. In past years he had also resided in Silver Springs, MD and Ocala, FL.
His wife, Maxine Goodman, and sisters Gladys Summers and Florene Arthur, also
preceded him in death. George is survived by two sons, James B. Goodman and

Fraley, of East Lynn, W.Va., passed away Sunday evening, January 30, 2011 at the
Emogene Dolin-Jones Hospice House of Huntington. She was born September 15, 1933
in Lincoln County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Alpha and Lenzy Hazelett. She
is also preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond Clark who died in 1989.

step-daughters, Monna Kay and husband Gerald, and Lavetta Gardner, all of,
Mich.; one step-son, Ralph Fraley, Jr. of Tenn.; granddaughters, Tina Hoffman
