POLLY MAE BROWNING, 76, of Wilsondale, WV, died Thursday, March 3, 2011
at Kings Daughter's Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m.
Sunday, March 6, 2011 at Fairmount Baptist Church, Dunlow, WV, by Brother Jess
Sammons. Burial will follow at Tom Maynard Cemetery, Wilsondale, WV. She was
born August 30, 1934 in Wilsondale, WV, a daughter of the late Arthur and Ellen
Spaulding Evans. Polly was a homemaker and member of the Fairmount Baptist
Church. Also preceding her in death was a sister, Sarah Gibson and three
brothers, Robert, Riley and Ronnie Evans. Survivors include her loving, husband,
Pete Browning; three daughters, Wanda Counts and husband, Greg of Columbus, OH,
Jeanette Browning-French and husband, Dana of Hilliard, OH, Esteal Hendricks and
husband, Roger of Dexter City, OH; four sons, Pete Browning, Jr. and wife, Kathy
of Marysville, OH, David Browning and wife, Sue of West Mansfield, OH, Nathan
Browning of Columbus, OH, Wayne Browning of Huntington, WV; two sisters, Hilda
Miller of Anchorage, AL, Emma Ramey of Lucasville, OH; two brothers, Richard
Evans of Dunlow, WV; James Evans of Orient, OH; thirteen grandchildren and
thirteen great-grand-children. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 pm
Saturday at Morris Funeral Home, Wayne, WV and from noon until service time at
the church.

CONNIE SUE PORTER RYAN, 52, of Pala, Calif., died
March 3, 2011, at the Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego, Calif. Connie was
born February 23, 1959, in Huntington, W.Va., a daughter of the late Sherman and
Anna Mae Hatten Porter. Connie was a manager for Golden Corral Restaurant. In
addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a great-niece, Faith Ann
Webb. She is survived by her husband, Kevin "Casey" Ryan of Pala, Calif.; one
daughter and son-in-law, Nicole and Kevin Ott of Kingman, Ariz.; three brothers,
Ron Hatten, Harry Spangler and Kenny Porter; two sisters, Bonita Webb and Linda
Caperton; and two grandchildren, Madison and Cameron Ott. Friends may call from
11 a.m. until noon on Saturday, March 12, 2011, at Rollins Funeral Home, Kenova,
W.Va., at which time the funeral service will begin with Mitch Webb officiating.

RICHARD RALPH CHILDERS, 73, of Lavalette, W.Va.,
passed away Friday, March 4, 2011, at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of
Huntington. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at
Morris Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Bob Hale and Richard Chadwick. Burial will
follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Wayne, W.Va. He was born Feb. 2, 1938, in
Huntington, W.Va., a son of Ralph and Elsie Morrison Childers. Richard was a
shipping clerk for Huntington Manufacturing and Pepsi Cola. He was also an avid
outdoorsman. Survivors include his loving wife, Naomi Ruth Bailey Childers; a
son, Rick Childers and wife, Linda of Ona, W.Va.; a sister, Jacqueline D. Porter
of Buffalo, W.Va.; two grandchildren, Nathan Andrew Childers and Hunter Ross
Childers, both of Ona; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. The family
will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Morris Funeral Home, Wayne,

ADA BEATRICE HARRIS, 82, of Huntington, W.Va., died
Saturday, March 5, 2011, in Heritage Center, Huntington. Funeral service will be
conducted 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at Ridgelawn Memorial Park's Abby of
Devotion with Dallas Moore officiating. Burial will follow. Ada was born Oct.
12, 1928, in Wayne County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Garland and Norma
Wellman Lockhart. She was a homemaker, loving mother and grandmother for many
years. Her husband, James Franklin Harris, preceded her in death. Survivors
include a daughter, Patricia Null of Barboursville, W.Va.; and a son, David L.
Harris of Grayson, Ky.; five grandchildren, Wendy (Patrick) McQuade, Matthew (Nickie)
Null, James Franklin (Trish) Harris, Lindy Hoeft and Matt Wilks; seven
great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; along with several nieces and
nephews. The family would like special thanks to go to Heritage Center third

HAROLD R. BROWN, 71, of Lavalette, W.Va., passed
away Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. He was born October
4, 1939, son of the late James R. and Mary Ellen Brown. His daughter, Mary
Darlene Brown also preceded him in death, along with one brother James E. Brown.
Harold was a disabled brick mason. He leaves behind one sister and
brother-in-law, Wanda and Dexel Blankenship of Lavalette; nephews and nieces, Ed
(Robin) Blankenship of Chesapeake, Oh., Randy, Troy, Joey (Laura) and Tina
Blankenship, all of Lavalette, Judy Lageman of St. Albans, W.Va., Jeff Brown of
Massachusetts, and Chassidy Szerokman of Charleston, W.Va.; and several
great-nieces and nephews. The family will receive visitors from noon till 2 p.m.
Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home. Private graveside
services will be conducted.

GLENNA BROOKE WILEY, of Des Moines, Iowa, formerly of Huntington, West
Virginia, died on Saturday, March 5, 2011. Funeral services will be conducted 11
a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2011, at Chapman's Mortuary with Rev. William Haynes
Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Glenna was
the youngest of five children of Eugene and Georgia Wellman of Fort Gay, W.Va.
After graduating from high school, she attended St. Mary's Nursing School in
Huntington. In 1955, she married Robert H. Wiley and they settled in Petersburg,
Mich., where they lived and raised their family until 1979, at which time Glenna
returned to Huntington where she remained until 2007. Practicing as an RN,
Glenna enjoyed a long career, specializing to some degree, in psychiatric
nursing. Glenna worked at the Regional State Hospital in Huntington, was the
Nursing Director for the Veteran's Home in Huntington and returned to
psychiatric nursing at HCA River Park Psychiatric Hospital in Huntington. A
member of Beverly Hills United Methodist Church, a past matron and lifetime
member of the Order of Eastern Star, and a volunteer for Contact, a crisis
hotline, Glenna felt called to the service of those in need. Glenna is survived
by a brother, Eugene Wellman of Memphis, Tenn.; three daughters, Rebecca Curley
of Petersburg, Mich., Elizabeth Boyd of Highland Park, Ill., Melissa Flowers of
Des Moines, Iowa, and six grandchildren, Tyler and Jessie Boyd, Bobbi and
Courtney Curley and Sarah and Ben Flowers. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to
service time Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be

LUCILLE GERALDINE SINCLAIR SMITH, 90, of Kenova,
W.Va., died Saturday, March 5, 2011, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in
Huntington, W.Va. She was born Feb. 10, 1921, in Preston County, W.Va., a
daughter of the late Bonana Godfrey and Laura May Funk Sinclair. In addition to
her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Wayne Smith; one
daughter and son-in-law, Jerry Lou and Ellis Adkins; one son-in-law, John H.
Fouch Jr.; one grandson, Joshua Paul Fouch; and 14 brothers and sisters. She was
a member of the Kenova Church of God. She is survived by one daughter and
son-in-law, Sandra Sue Smith Fouch O'Dell and her husband, John O'Dell; one
brother, Rev. Darrell "Blain" Sinclair; grandchildren, Ellis Eugene Adkins,
Gregory Wayne and Julie Adkins, Bruce Alan and Debbie Adkins, Patricia "Denise"
Fischer, a very special grandson, Brett Michael Adkins, John H. III and Kelly
Fouch, Susan Michelle and Brian Smith, and Kevin Fouch; great-grandchildren,
Kasey, Kyle, T.J. and Cory Adkins, Allison and Wesley Lemons, Shae Lynn Fischer,

AVIS C. MARCUM of Prichard, W.Va., left her earthly
home surrounded by family and friends on March 5, 2011, at Emogene Dolin Jones
Hospice House in Huntington, W.Va. She was born on Dec. 8, 1923, in Ordinary,
Ky., to the late Daisie and Benjamin Cox. She was preceded in death by her
husband, Hezekiah Marcum; a sister, Martha M. Cupler; and several
brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. She is survived by her two children,
Benjamin (Lauren) Marcum of Prichard, and Linda (Eugene) Parsons of Wayne. She
left the legacy of honesty and pride to her grandsons, Andrew (Brenda) Marcum,
Jeremiah Marcum, Zachary Marcum (special friend Andrea Nelson) and Scott
(Cassandra) Parsons. Additional survivors include three great-grandchildren, Ben
and Jacob Marcum, and Claire Parsons; two sisters, Lavonne Mayo of Pataskala,
Ohio, and Lillian Horn of Massillon, Ohio; brother-in-law, Noah Marcum of
Collinsville, Okla.; a special niece, Shirley (Ersel) Sias of South Point, Ohio;
two very special caregivers, June Bowen and Paulette Rakes; and a host of family
and friends. Mrs. Marcum was a member of the Buffalo Valley Baptist Church and
was active in the Westmoreland Chapter NSDAR, where she held several offices and
chairmanships. She served for many years as a volunteer at the Huntington VA
Medical Center. She retired from the Huntington Regional Office and was
previously employed at the Sylvania Plant and H.J. Hines Company in Huntington,
W.Va. Memorial contributions may be made to the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice
House. Funeral Services for Mrs. Marcum will be conducted Monday, March 7, 2011,

HAZEL LOUISE LEMONS, 87, of Huntington, W.Va.,
passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2011, at her residence. She was born on
December 29, 1923, in Sinks Grove, W.Va., a daughter of the late Homer and
Lossie Rhodes Lemons. She was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Lemons
Crabtree. She is survived by a niece, Diane Mothersbaugh of Huntington; a
nephew, Frank Crabtree of Charleston, W.Va.; two great-nieces, Rebecca Dusic and
family of Charleston and Rachel Leon and family of Fairmont, W.Va.; a
great-nephew, James Crabtree and family of St. Louis, M.; and first cousins
Kathleen Nelson and Homer Rhodes, both of Huntington. Hazel was a member of
Highlawn Presbyterian Church, a Registered Nurse and an officer of the U.S.
Army, where she served in the Nurse Corps. Funeral services will be held on
Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Beard Mortuary with Pastor Richard Wilson

ROBYN DIXON, 47, of Kenova, W.Va., widow of Dwayne
Casteel, died Saturday, March 5, 2011, at home. Survivors include son Derek
Casteel of Huntington; daughter Candace (Ryan) Aylworth and grandson Evan
Aylsworth of Grand Rapids, Mich.; and her fiance Marty Maeland of Kenova.

TELLIE A. COPLEY, 80 of Louisa, went to be with her
Lord on Sunday March 6, 2011. Tellie was born in Louisa, KY on July 18, 1930,
the daughter of the late Robert and Qna Mae Webb Henson. In addition to her
parents she is preceded in death by a brother Jim Henson. Tellie was a caregiver
most of her life, a member of the Louisa Freewill Baptist Church and the Order
of Eastern Star 292 Louisa. She leaves behind a loving family, her husband of 62
years Claude Copley, a daughter Claudia Copley of Louisa, son and
daughter-in-law James and Angela Copley also of Louisa, two very special
grandsons Bradley James Copley and William Andrew Copley. A celebration of her
life was held on Wednesday March 9th at 2:00 pm at the Wilson Funeral home by
Revs. Venny Vanhoose, Jim Osborne, and Bobby Workman. Burial followed in the

BENJAMIN HARRISON STACY, 65, of Wayne, W.Va., went
home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 6, 2011. He was born May 19, 1945 at
Inez, Ky., a son of the late Charlie and Florence Stacy. One brother Robert
Stacy and one sister Amy Stacy also preceded him in death. Benjamin was a member
of the Genoa Church of God and also attended the Wayne Church of God. Survivors
include his wife of 44 years, Janice Stacy; one son, Benjamin Shawn Stacy and
Kayla Lucas of Wayne; two grandsons, Donte Shawn Stacy of Wayne, and David Tyler
Stacy of Dunlow, W.Va. Also surviving are two sisters, Perley Jude of Louisa,
Ky., and Nancy Stacy of Inez, Ky.; four brothers, Archie Stacy and wife Alice of

REGINA LEE CONNER, 67, of Kenova passed away at her
home on Sunday, March 6, 2011 after a long illness. Regina had for several years
written a weekly column for the Wayne County News and people who read her
articles knew she loved her Lord and her family. She was the daughter of the
late Lee and Bessie Farra Workman. Also preceding her in death are her siblings:
Ruth Stewart, Edith Rakes, Louise Rarog, Paul Workman, Ray Workman and Earl
Workman. Services will be conducted at Ceredo-Kenova Funeral Home on Wednesday
at 1:00pm by Pastor Rodney Hale. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in
Kenova. Regina is survived by her husband William Conner and six sons, James A.
Shearer, Herbert L. Shearer, Daniel Ray Shearer, Matthew Lee Shearer, Roman Paul

IRVIN NEWTON, 65 of Huntington, W.Va., husband, father, grandfather and
friend, passed on to a better place March 8, 2011. Funeral services will be
conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2011, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne,
W.Va., by Ministers Bob Hayes and Danny Preece, and his uncle Archie Carey.
Burial will follow at Thompson-Crabtree Cemetery, Genoa, W.Va. He was born July
20, 1945, in Huntington, a son of the late Emery and Orpha Carey Newton. Irvin
was an avid outdoorsman and especially loved hunting. However, his first love
was his son and his beloved grandchildren. His life was complete when they were
with him. He also enjoyed attending church and was a member of the Church of
Christ. Survivors include his loving wife of 42 years, Judith Ferguson Newton; a
son David Emory Newton and his fiancée Sherry Mosley of Louisa, Ky.; two
granddaughters, Allyson and Sydney Newton of Fort Smith, Arkansas; a grandson
David A. Newton of Powhatan, Va.; Sherry's two children, Quaid and Cole Mosley;
three uncles, Archie Carey, Pete and Martin Newton, all of Huntington; two
aunts, Zoe Smith of Norman, Okla., and Friedas Akers of Huntington; several

DENVER CLINTON MAYNARD, 70, of South Point, Ohio,
died Wednesday, March 9, 2011, in Pittsburgh, Pa. Memorial services will be
conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel,
Wayne, W.Va., by Pastor Jack Marcum. He was born October 27, 1940, in Wayne
County, W.Va., a son of the late Raymond and Victoria Maynard. Denver was
retired from Connor Steel and was a member of the Steel Workers Local #37. He
was also a U.S. Marine. Survivors include two sons, Clint Vannon Maynard of St.
Albans, W.Va., and Cliff Ray Maynard of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a sister, Juanita
Brumfield of Glendale, Ariz.; a grandchild, Ashley Victoria Maynard. In lieu of

MARY LOU CREMEANS PELFREY, 60, of Kenova, W.Va.,
went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 9, 2011, from the Emogene Dolin
Jones Hospice House in Huntington, W.Va. She slipped peacefully away from the
struggles of her lung disease into heaven where she was made whole. Mary Lou was
born August 30, 1950, in Huntington, a daughter of the late Billy Joe Cremeans
and Phyllis Mae Newman Cremeans Lyons. She was a member of the 20th Street
Baptist Church in Kenova. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death
by her step-father Charles R. Lyons and her grandmother Olive Cornwell Newman.
Mary Lou is survived by her beloved husband, Danny Joe Pelfrey; one daughter and
son-in-law, Tara and Sam Spears of Huntington; one son and daughter-in-law, Brad
and Rebecca Pelfrey of Chesapeake, Ohio; one sister and brother-in-law, Patty
and Kenny Quate of Kenova; five grandchildren, Bethany, Baylee and Dylan Spears,
Aubrey and Quinn Pelfrey; sister-in-law Katherine Pelfrey Johnson of Loveland,

PAUL E. WHEELER of Louisa - With much sorrow we
announce the passing of Paul E. Wheeler on March 9, 2011 at Three Rivers Medical
Center in Louisa, KY. The funeral will be Saturday, March 12 at First Baptist
Church in Louisa, with burial to follow at Castle's Cemetery in Blaine, KY. He
was born to Emma Bayes Wheeler and Cheatwood Wheeler on September 25, 1935. He
was a retiree of the road construction department. He was a member of the Louisa
City Council. He was an active community volunteer and a proud member of the
First Baptist Church in Louisa. Paul is survived by his loving wife of 39 years,
Betsy Ann Ward; two daughters Sheryl L. Wellman (married to Luther Wellman Jr.)
of Louisa, KY, and April R. Wheeler of Louisa KY; One brother Elwood Wheeler of
Columbus, Ohio; Two sisters; Willy Jane Jitters of Dayton, Ohio and Janet
Gilliam of Flatwoods, KY, Three Grandchildren; Luke Wellman of Louisa, KY, Eli
Combs Jr. of Falcon, KY, and Ashley May of Staffordsville, KY; and two Great
Grandchildren, Hunter Salyers and Heath May. He was preceded in death by his

WEYMOUTH LINCOLN McNEELY, 82, of Huntington, W.Va.,
with home to be with the Lord, Thursday, March 10, 2011, in St. Mary's Medical
Center. He was born Feb. 12, 1929, in Huntington, W.Va., a son of the late
Verlin and Letha Irby McNeely. He was also preceded in death by two daughters,
Letha Omeka McNeely and Brenda Kay McNeely. He was a retired mechanic. He is
survived by his wife, Frances Ann Plymale McNeely; one son, Weymouth "Buddy"
McNeely Jr. and his wife Juanita; three daughters and sons-in-law, Ruth Ellen

disabled, he had been employed by CSX as a laborer. He was born in Huntington

LONNIE RAY BOOTH, 69, of Ceredo, W.Va., died
Friday, March 11, 2011, at the VA Medical Center. He was born Oct. 29, 1941, in
Huntington, W.Va., a son of the late Carl and Sarah A. Kirk Booth. Lonnie
retired from the Ohio River Co., where he had been a boat pilot. He was a member
of the First Baptist Church of Chesapeake. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a
member of American Legion Post No. 93, Kenova, whose members will conduct
military graveside rites. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death
by his wife, Margaret Pratt Booth. Lonnie is survived by one son and

HERBERT WORKMAN, 80, of Ft. Gay, W.Va., went to be
with the Lord Saturday, March 12, 2011 at his home. He was born January 14, 1931
in Greenbrier County, W. VA. Never knowing his parents, he was raised in an
orphanage and later moved to Wayne County. Herbert lived in a specialized care
home with his caregiver Grace Wallace and her husband, Curtis, and room-mate
Paul Wilson for 11 years. Before coming to the Wallace home, Herbert lived in an
adult family care home in Ft. Gay with Vivian Hoosier and her husband for 23
years. Herbert had many friends: Tony and Nora Jean and their daughter Brittany,
Troy and wife Mena, Justin, Sara, and Michael Wallace, Paula Curtis, and two
special friends Shawn Wallace and Bill Caldwell. Graveside services were

JUNE RUTH LANE BURKS, 79, of Wayne , W.Va. , passed
away Saturday, March 12, 2011 in St. Francis Hospital, Charleston, W.Va., after
a brief illness. Abiding with her wishes, a private graveside service was
conducted at the Williamson Cemetery, Cabwaylingo, W.Va. The song "Go Rest High
on That Mountain" by Vinct Gill was played just before laying her to rest. June
was born December 25, 1931 in Welch, W.Va., a daughter of the late Joseph and
Hazel Noe Lane. She was preceded in death by a son Larry Burks; two sisters,
Pauline Seagraves, and Margaret Ray; long time friend of over 50 years, Clarence
"Skillet" Smith; and her dog Rascal. Survivors include a son, Darrel Burks of
Honaker, Va.; a sister, Ann (Morris) Paco of Spencer, W.Va., with whom she made
her home in the last four months of her life; a brother, Joseph (Letha) Lane of
Las Vegas, Nev.; three granddaughters and five great-grandsons: Tina (Michael)
Morgan and her four sons, Michael, Trae, Matthew, and Jaden; Tiffany; Burks and
her son Tyler; and Pam Burks. Also her neighbors (who thought her as a mother
and grandmother) Tommy, Tammy Smith and their children, Chris and Alicia; and
many nieces and nephews. June lived and worked many years in Michigan. She was
the head of
housekeeping for the President of the University of Michigan. She moved to Wayne
County and resided in East Lynn working in the grocery industry. In 1995 she
moved to the left fork of Wilson Creek were she held many roles in the
neighborhood including caregiver, messenger, cook, babysitter, gardener, and
friend. She will he severely missed. The family would like to thank the
Williamson family for the beautiful grave plot on top of the mountain. Also they

home to be with the Lord on Sunday March 13, 2011. He was born the eldest son of
the late Clyde Franklin Jordan and Martha Myrtle (Morgan) Jordan. He was a
lifelong farmer in Mason County and he loved family, farming, and music. He was
employed by Vanadium Corporation for 15 years and Kaiser/Century Aluminum for 25
years. He was a member of Steelworkers Local 5668 of Ravenswood, WV. He was
preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by brother James Lester Jordan
Sr. He is survived by his wife of nearly sixty years, Lois Jean Radthffe whom he
married on July 21, 1951, two daughters Kathy Dianne (Floyd) Watts of Wayne Co
WV, and Linda Darlene (Robert) Taylor of '7 Paducah, Ky, and one son Milford
Franklin Jordan Jr. of Mt. alto, WV, and sister Mavis Weaver also of Mt. Alto,
WV. Five grandchildren; Melissa Jean (Ritchie) Taylor of Point Pleasant, WV,
Martha Dawn (Jeffrey) Watts of Wayne Co WV, Seth Everette (Jennifer) Rardin of

JIM C. HAMER (James Clayton Hamer), of Kenova,
W.Va., a beloved family man and successful lumberman, went to be with Jesus on
March 17, 2011, after a long battle with cancer. He was 73. Jim was born in
Kenova on August 16, 1937, the same year as the great flood. He was the only son
of James P. and Eunice Hamer. He graduated from Ceredo Kenova High School, where
he was co-captain of the football team and a trombone player in the band. He
married his high school sweetheart, Gladys Frazier. After graduating from
forestry school (B.A.) at Syracuse University (SUNY), Jim worked for his father
at J.P. Hamer Lumber company until the company was sold to the Jim Walter
Corporation in 1973. Jim started his own Hamer lumber business (the Jim C. Hamer
Co.) in 1976, with one small sawmill in Salyersville, Ky., which grew to five
large sawmill operations and two densified wood pellet fuel plants. Jim was not
only a successful West Virginia businessman but an innovative and responsible
forester. Jim served multiple terms as President and Board Member of the largest
hardwood association in the world, the National Hardwood Lumber Association. His
was one of the first companies in the Eastern U.S. to convert sawdust to an
environmentally positive product, densified fuel pellets. He also received
several environmental accolades for his timber harvesting practices, including
the NHLA Forest Stewardship Award. He is survived by his wife of 52 years,
Gladys, as well as his three children, Lori, Jim and Steve, who considered him
"our hero and role model." He is also survived by his six grandchildren. Through
his eldest son Jim and his wife Lesley are Andrew, Caroline, and Nathan. Through
his youngest son Steve and his wife Donna are Christina, Stephen and Matthew.
Jim is also survived by his sister, Sara Stanley of Louisville, Ky., and his
aunt, Leola Frazier of Huntington, W.Va. Jim C. Hamer served the Lord as a
Sunday School teacher and deacon at First Baptist Church of Kenova for many
years. He and Gladys were the first couple to be honored in the Kenova Hall of
Fame. He was also inducted into the Marshall University Business Hall of Fame.
He was President of the Appalachia Hardwood Manufacturer's Association and a
leader in the WV Forestry Association. He was a Director of the United Bank and
served on the Board of Directors of the WV Chamber of Commerce and the
Huntington Chamber of Commerce. Jim was also inducted into The West Virginia
Agriculture and Forestry Hall of Fame. He and Gladys invested in other charities
as well, including the City of Hope. He was also an avid sportsman, angler,
golfer, and unwavering supporter of Marshall athletics and "boy" could he dance!
Jim loved his family, friends, church, community, state, and most of all, his
Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. He considered himself blessed in many respects,
but to those who knew him, he was the greatest blessing of all. Visitation to
begin Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Kenova Welcome Center.

REVELLA ADKINS, 84, of Branchland, W.Va., went home
to be with the Lord, March 17, 2011, at the Heritage Center in Huntington, W.Va.
Revella was born September 18, 1926, in Wayne County, W.Va. She was preceded in
death by her late husband Leean Adkins, who was the love of her life, and her
parents, Walter and Ella Dillon Adkins. She is survived by her two loving
daughters that have broken hearts, Kathy Adkins and her husband Thurman of
Barboursville, and Bonnie Adkins Eaves and her husband Dwayne of Branchland;
three grandchildren she cherished and loved, Andy Adkins of Barboursville, Bryan
Adkins and his fianceé Marlana Nease of Hamlin, W.Va., and Natalie Adkins Karle
and her husband Nick of Huntington; two great-grandchildren that were Revella's
angels, Gabriella Karle and Maximus Karle; one brother, Leonard Adkins of
Hamlin; special nephew and nieces, Jerry and Sue Adkins, Martha Eaves and
Audalene Starr. She had many dear friends and relatives, Hollis and Emma Jean
Adkins, long-time friend Lorena Burd for over 60 years, Joyce Adkins, and Emual
and Joyce Adkins. Revella worked at Huntington Manufacturing Company. She also
was a member of the Bethlehem United Church in Branchland for many years and
loved her brothers and sisters in Christ. Revella always put others first and
loved her family dearly. Revella will be sadly missed by her family and those

grandchildren, Brian Everett Bowen Jr., and Laura Lynn Endicott, Kelsie Marie

FRED RUSSELL, 88, of Lavalette, W.Va., passed away
Monday, March 21, 2011, at the Huntington Veterans Affairs Medical Center
following a brief illness. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m.
Saturday, March 26, 2011, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, W.Va., by Rev.
John Harris. Burial will follow at Community Memorial Gardens, Wayne. He was
born April 24, 1922, at East Lynn, W.Va., a son of the late Harvey and Tennessee
Napier Russell. Fred was a realtor and investor for over 50 years, and founded
Russell Realty which had offices in Wayne, Lavalette and Huntington. He was a
Royal Arch Mason and member of Wayne Masonic Lodge #18, AF&AM, as well as Wayne
Chapter 156, Order of Eastern Star. He was a charter member of the Huntington
Area AARP, was an associate member of the Wayne County Economic Development
Authority, and was also a member of the Huntington Board of Realtors. Through
the years, he held many positions, including FEMA representative, Wayne County
Building Permit Officer, and assistant to the assessor. He enjoyed working with
youth and sponsored Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Little League teams and Wayne Order
of Rainbow Girls. He was a former co-owner of Wayne Monument Company, and Wayne
Florist. He owned and operated Fred's Barber Shop for over 50 years. Fred was a
proud U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in General Eisenhower's
Division. He received five major Battle Stars, a Gold Leaf, Good Conduct Medal,
as well as the Purple Heart from injuries sustained in the Battle of the Bulge.
He was a life member of VFW Post 1064 in Huntington and American Legion Post 93
in Kenova. In addition to his parents, a son Randall Brent Russell, six
brothers, John, Audley, Norman, Milton, Edgar and Earl Russell, three sisters,
Ethel, Elsie and Julia, and a grandson, Tyler Dane Russell, also preceded him in
death. Survivors include his wife, Flora New Ross Russell; a son, Keith Dekker
Russell (Sheila) of Huntington, W.Va.; two daughters, Mitzi Elaine Russell of
Lavalette and Heather Freddie Russell Blatt (Jeff) of Huntington; a sister,

Wednesday March 23, 2011, in St. Mary's Medical Center. She was born October 29,
1940 in Lawrence County, Ohio, daughter of the late Merrill and Alice Daughtery
Ellis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband
Paris Workman; daughter Deborah Class; and grandson Jason Galloway. Linda
retired from St. Mary's Medical Center as a Registered Nurse and was employed
with Lawrence County Collins Career Center, The Cabell County Career Technology
Center, and All-Aid. She is survived by her sister Karen L. Stanley; two
grandchildren, Heather Galloway and Adrian Workman; two great-grandchildren,
Destiny Workman and Miguel Galloway; two step-children Paris Ronald Workman and
Teresa Maynard; a nephew Greg Stanley and his wife Cindy; special friends
Nicolette Goheen and Josie Moore; and numerous close friends. "At my death I do
not want to be remembered for my age, my gender, my occupation, my race, nor the
material acquisitions I have obtained in my short stay. Instead remember me for

away Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at Gallipolis Developmental Center. Funeral

away at home with his family by his side on Wednesday, March 23, 2011. He was
born December 16, 1938 in Wayne County, West Virginia, a son of the late Millard
and Vada Williamson Elliott. His brother Charlie Elliott also preceded him in
death, along with one sister, Rowena Elliott Kirk. He leaves behind his loving
wife of 42 years, Loretta Elliott; three daughters, Kimberly Robinson, Lisa
Elliott, both of Cleveland, and Kayla Elliott of Lakewood; seven grandchildren,
Brandon MacMillan, Hallie MacMillan, Xavier Elliott, Dawson Robinson, Mya

JAMES FARLEY, 86, of Huntington, W.Va., went home
to be with the Lord and to be reunited with his wife of 50 years, Patricia
Hunter Farley, on Saturday, March 26, 2011, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice
House in Huntington. He was born on March 12, 1925, in Delbarton, W.Va., a son
of the late John H. and Ida Mae Stepp Farley. In addition to his wife and
parents, he was preceded in death by a twin brother, Rush Farley. He is survived
by two daughters, Judy Farley and Kathy (John) Snyder; seven grandchildren, Adam
West, Bryan Snyder, Amanda Jacobs, Katie Sheldon, Aaron Farley, Colton Farley
and Hunter Farley; six great-grandchildren; and a host of other friends and
family. Mr. Farley was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy, where
he served in Pearl Harbor, and aboard the minesweeper USS-YMS-330. Funeral

RONALD D. PALMER, 68, passed away on January 26,
2011 in Norfolk, Va. Mr. Palmer was born July 10, 1942 in Romney, W.Va. and
graduated from Keyser High School, class of 1960, in Keyser, W.Va. He was the
son of the late Mary Dove Palmer and Eldridge F. Palmer and was preceded in
death by his wife, Eunice Pelfrey Tomblin Palmer, and two brothers, Roddy Palmer
and Edwin Russell. He retired from the U.S. Navy, after twenty-seven years' and
from Dollar Tree after twenty-one years of service. Survivors include a brother,
Edward Russell & wife, Shelby, two sisters, Ann Slaughter and Jean DeBarr, a
sister-in-law, Alice Faye Russell, six children, Diana Riner, Wanda Denovchik,
Charles Tomblin and Robert Tomblin, Susan Wonchoba and Jennifer Bak ,nine
grandchildren, Michelle Bolton, Sean Riner, Kimberly Speaks, Michael Tomblin,

ARLIE H. QUEEN, 99, of Wayne, W.Va., died Sunday,
March 27, 2011, at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m.
Thursday, March 31, 2011, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Michael G.
Queen. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Wayne. He was the first born son
of the late App and Cora Parsons Queen, on June 27, 1911, at Stiltner, W.Va.
Arlie was employed by the McCroy's Store in Huntington, W.Va., after graduating
from Wayne High School in 1930. He moved from trainee to management positions in
New Jersey and Pennsylvania areas until 1948. Arlie then returned to Wayne and
established a general merchandise store, "The Queen Store," and added a shoe
store in 1961. He served as owner and active manager until his retirement in
June of 1976. Arlie served his community as Corporate Secretary of Wayne County
Bank's Board of Directors; President of Wayne County Farm Bureau; Chairman of
Community Gardens Cemetery; President of Wayne Chamber of Commerce; Wayne Lions
Club and as an active member of Central Ohio Valley Industrial Council as well
as many other civic organizations. Arlie was a member of the United Methodist
Church since 1938. He served on local district and national levels in several
capacities,12 years chairman of the Board of Trustees; church teacher for eight
years; Board of Trustees Huntington District and Asbury Camp; President,
Methodist Men of Huntington District; member of the Executive Board of
Methodist-West Virginia Conference; and several other church organizations
including delegate of the Finance Committee of the Methodist World Council in
Israel in 1974. Arlie and wife Lillian were able to travel rather extensively
after his retirement including trips to Israel, Jordan, Ireland, England,
France, Germany, Switzerland, China, Hong Kong and Haiti, among others. His
first wife, Marjorie L. Mullens Queen, also preceded him in death, along with a
son-in-law James E. Chapman, two brothers, Dallas and Glenn J. Queen. Survivors
include his very devoted wife of 53 years, Lillian Lycans Queen; a daughter,
Patricia Ann Chapman of Atlanta, Ga.; two grandchildren, Holly Ann (Jeff) Abbott
of Americus, Ga., James Christopher (Teri) Chapman of Atlanta, Ga.; two
great-grandchildren, James Matthew and Michael McComas Chapman of Atlanta, Ga.;

Nazarene Church of Huntington, where she was a former Sunday School teacher. She
was a 1983 graduate of Marshall University. In addition to her parents, she was
preceded in death by her husband Charles A. Osborne and her brother Lewis
Sowards. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law Steve and Linda Osborne of
Huntington; two daughters and sons-in-law Tama and Bill Saunders of Milton,
W.Va., and Cathy and Behnam Mohebbi of Hurricane, W.Va.; eight grandchildren and
three spouses, Angela and Mark Johnston, Lori and Boyd Angotti, Stephanie and
Caleb Lyon, Chris Osborne, Nima, Nicholas, Nathan and Michael Mohebbi; three
great-grandchildren Miles Wheeler, Wyatt Lyon and Kennedy Lyon; and her very
