DENNIS LOWELL SMITH, 69, of Fort Gay, WV passed away Saturday Oct. 1,
2011 following a brief illness. Dennis was born Oct. 17, 1941 at Louisa, KY the
son of the late Tom and Josephine Ferguson Smith. He was a retired welder for
the N & S Railroad, a former greeter at the Louisa Wal-Mart, former Assistant
Fort Gay Fire Chief, member of the Brotherhood of Maintance Way Union, and a
Kentucky Colonel. Survivors include his wife Rita Arrington Smith of Fort Gay; a
daughter Jennifer (Randy) Thompson of Louisa; three sons Dennis L. II (Sandy)
and Kevin Smith of Fort Gay, WV; and Kyle Smith of Ashland, KY; two sisters
Nancy (Bill) Hampton of South Point, OH; and Dorothy (Gary) Scott of Macon, GA;
four grandchildren Nicole (Tommy) Cook, Shawn (Mary) Crum, Randa Thompson, and
Miranda Crum; three great grandchildren Blake Cook, Brayden Cook, and Alexis
Crum. Revs Tim Preston and Tony Perry will conduct funeral services on Wednesday
Oct. 5th at 1 p.m. at the Fort Gay First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in
the Albert Ferguson Cemetery at Fort Gay, WV. Arrangements are under the
direction of Wilson Funeral Home.

SUSAN JOY LITTLE, 57, of Ceredo, W. Va., passed
away Monday, October 3, 2011, at the Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in
Coal Grove, Ohio. Graveside services will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Thursday,
October 6, 2011, at Dock's Creek Cemetery with Pastor Ray Stephens officiating.
Susan was born October 9, 1953, in Paducah, Ky., daughter of the late Grover C.
"Zip" Little Jr. and the late Dorothy Neal Rowe Little. She is survived by
numerous cousins. Susan was a former resident of Green Acres Regional Center,
and most recently attended the day program at Buffalo. Friends may call from 1

EUGENE "GENE" PAUL WATTS, 79, of Huntington,
husband of Roberta Benedict Watts, passed away Tuesday October 4, 2011, at
Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke, Virginia. Funeral services will be conducted
at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Pastor Jamie Gump. Burial will
follow in Highland Cemetery, Huntington. He was born March 4, 1932 in
Huntington, W. Va., a son of the late Shelby "S.O." and Ona Tabor Watts. He was
a former auto salesman. Gene was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during
the Korean War. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 93 of Kenova
and the Howard P. Hall VFW Post 1064 of Huntington. He was a member of the Elks
313 and a Ham Radio Operator. Gene was a longtime member and Elder of the
Christian Church (DOC) at Vinson Memorial Christian Church and Madison Avenue
Christian Church. He also loved to sing during church services. In addition to
his parents he was preceded in death by his step-mother Beulah Watts; a son
Ronnie Angelo; two brothers Chester Watts and Bill Watts; a step-brother Carl
Morton; and a step-sister Betty Wray. Additional survivors include his children
Darrell (Janice) Watts and Julie Watts all of Mr. Vernon, Ohio, Lisa (Joe)
Fecera of Seminole, Florida, Chris (Shelly) Watts of Bedford, Virginia, Ruth
(Rick ) McCloud of Huntington and Bob (Stephanie) Angelo of Coal Grove, Ohio;
grandchildren Aaron Watts, Heather Watts, Harley Filyaw, Dustin Fecera, Kelli
McCloud, Drew McCloud, Taylor, Olivia and Peyton Watts and Nick (Angela) Angelo
and Sam Angelo; great-grandson Landon Angelo; sister and brother-in-law Linda
and John Persun; special niece Erin Persun and her fiancé Philip Garrett.

PATRICIA ANN BALL NULL, 77, of Kenova, W. Va.,
widow of William V. "Wooch" Null, died Thursday, October 6, 2011, at St. Mary's
Medical Center in Huntington, W. Va. She was born November 23, 1934, in Kenova,
and is the daughter of the late Lelia Clay Ball and Arvil Ball. Pat worked at
the First National Bank of Kenova, where she was the head teller. She was a
member of Kenova United Methodist Church. Above all else, this fiercely
independent, highly spirited, remarkably intelligent woman was a devoted wife,
loving mother and loyal friend. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in
death by her beloved husband and a grandson, Kevin McGlone. She is survived by
her two children, Kathy Null Good and her husband Rick of Kenova and W. Gregory
Null and his wife Jackie of Atlanta, Ga.; one sister, Edna Griffith;
grandchildren Kristi McGlone and Clayton, Evan, Porter and Ellie Null and two
great-grandchildren, Kevin and Clay Payton. Funeral services will be conducted
at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 9, 2011, at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova.
Burial will follow in the Spring Valley Memorial Gardens. The family will
receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2011, at the funeral

JOHN M. FORTNER, 71, of Chesapeake, Ohio, passed
away Thursday, Oct. 6, 2011, in Pike Community Hospital, Waverly, Ohio. Funeral
services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 10, 2011, at Rollins Funeral
Home in Kenova with Brother John Bowling, Elder Terry Bryant and Brother J. R.
Ruggles officiating. Interment will follow in Dock's Creek Cemetery, Kenova.
John was born March 1, 1940, in Shoals, W. Va., a son of the late Walker and
Sarah Rhoda Perry Fortner. He was a production manager for Owens-Illinois and a
U.S. Army veteran. John was a member of the Indian Bottom Association Old
Regular Baptist. Besides his parents, John was also preceded in death by one
brother, Harold Fortner; and two sisters, Imogene Byer and Gladys Fortner. He is
survived by his beloved wife, Eleanor "Ellie" Ruth Fortner; three daughters and
sons-in-law, Jodi (James) Lipscomb of Toledo, Ohio, Johnna (David) Lewis of
Pelion, S.C., and Jennifer (Brad) Kirby of Pelion, S.C.; three brothers, Paul,
Sam and Dick Fortner; four sisters, Della Mae Robertson, Francis Nelson, Mary
Trytek and Joann Fortner; and six grandchildren, Dustin Kirby, Jonathan Kirby,
Elizabeth Kirby, Joshua Lewis, Hannah Lewis and Jacob Lipscomb; and two

JOHN HENRY PRUITT, 83, of Sandusky, Ohio, passed
away October 6, 2011. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday,

follow in Bowen Cemetery. He was born October 5, 1928, in Wayne, W. Va., a son
of the late Eugene Milton Pruitt and Nancy Ann Berry Pruitt. He was a veteran of
the United States Marines. He was also preceded in death by three brothers and
two sisters. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Bernice and Ronald
Callaway and Delilah Ann and Terry Dean; three sons and daughters-in-law, John

GARRY R. SMITH, 65, of Prichard , WV. passed away
Thursday, October 6, 2011. Graveside services will be conducted 1:00 P.M.
Saturday, October 8, 2011 at Bean Cemetery, Prichard, with Pastor Darrell Brewer
officiating. Garry was born May 20, 1946 in Prichard, WV. a son of Gladys
Salyers Smith of Prichard, WV. and the late Carl Edward Smith. He was the owner
of Garrys' Truck Service. Besides his father Garry was also preceded in death by
one brother Gregory Smith. He is survived by his beloved wife Patricia Murphy
Smith; five daughters and four sons-in-law Kimberly Yates (Donald), Rebecca
Dean, Carla Napier (Steve), Sandra Cox (Nathan) and Teresa Napier (Greg) all of
Prichard, WV.; one brother Jerry Smith of Prichard, WV. and eight grandchildren
Jessica Yates, Brandon Fraley, Alex Cox, Blake Staley, Trish Napier, Sarah

GLENNA MAE
HUGHES, 94, of Louisa went to be with her Lord on Friday morning October
7, 2011. Mrs. Hughes was born November 21, 1916 in Boyd County, KY, the daughter
of the late Carlos and Bertha Ann Barber Sparks. In addition to her parents she
was preceded in death by her husband Estill Hughes who died in 1956 and several
brothers and sisters. Mrs. Hughes was a homemaker and member of the Louisa
Church of God. Survivors include four daughters Opal Muncy of Louisa, KY, Audrey
(Elmer) Frazier of Ashland, KY, Peggy (Pete) Wears of Columbus, OH, and Alberta
Hughes of Louisa, KY; five sons Arnold "Buddy" (Gerldine) Hughes of Loraine, OH,
Bobby (Carol) Hughes of Greenup, KY, Thomas (Carla) Hughes of Columbus, OH,
Estill (Brenda) Hughes of Southport, N.C., and Donald (Chris) Hughes of Orient,

TERESA GAY FINLEY, 38, of Huntington went home to
be with the Lord on Friday, October 7, 2011. Funeral services were conducted at
8:00 p.m. Sunday October 9, 2011 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Jim
Martin officiating. She was born on May 10, 1973 in Huntington, WV to James
Tomblin and Brenda Richards Tomblin of Lavalette. Teresa is preceded in death by
a sister Rebecca Vannatter. In addition to her parents she is survived by her
husband Johnny Michael Finley and son John Andrew Morrison of North Carolina.
She was a Christian and attended the Church of Christ. Graveside services were
conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 10, 2011 at the Dock's Creek Cemetery in
Kenova.

RICHARD LOWELL ADKINS, 84, of Huntington, W. Va.,
passed away Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011, at his residence. Funeral services will be
conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Rev. Robert Talbert.
Burial will follow in Docks Creek Cemetery, Kenova, W.Va. He was born June 28,
1927, in Huntington, W.Va., the son of the late Grover and Nola Bailey Adkins.
He was a retired CSX Railroad clerk. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of
the Buena Vista Lodge No. 60 AF&AM of Prichard, W.Va., whose members will
conduct Masonic graveside rites. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in
death by his wife, Talitha Adkins; two brothers, Robert Adkins and Larry David
Adkins; and two sisters, Eulalee Bryant and Mary Margaret Paulskievich.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Brett Ashley and Robin Adkins,
and Gregory Scott and Debbie Adkins, all of Lavalette, W. Va.; five
grandchildren, Matthew Ryan and Annie Adkins of Lavalette, Adam Scott Adkins,
Seth Michael Adkins and his fiancé Mary Tilton, all of Huntington, Brandon
Ashley and Courtney Adkins of Lavalette, and Jordan Michael and Kayla Adkins of

DAVID SEXTON, 52, of Ashland, Ky., formerly of,
Ceredo, WV, died October 8, 2011 at King's Daughters Medical Center. He was born
October 19 1958 in Cabell Co., WV a son of the late Herman Earl and Lilly Mae
Ward Sexton. David was a self-employed stone mason. In addition to his parents,
David was preceded in death by one brother, James "Butch" Sexton and, one
sister, Lois Ann Sexton Thompson. He is survived by his wife, Michele Roberts
Sexton; daughters, Kathy L. Taylor, Becky Sue Denny and Crystal L. Tussey all of
Ashland, KY; sons, Shannon Dean of Kenova, WV, David Allen Sexton of Somerset,
KY amid Christopher Lee Tussey of Ashland, KY; 12 grandchildren, Cody, Alex and
Kaylee Dean, Brittney, Whitney and Andrew Sexton, Hunter, Taylor and Lilly

TOMMY DAVIS, 55, of Wayne, W. Va., formerly of
Huntington, W. Va., passed this life on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at home. He
was born December 29, 1955 in Chillicothe, Ohio. His beloved mother, Ruby Mae
Adkins-Davis preceded him in death along with his father, Iris Glen Davis: and
one brother, James Dale "Jimmy" Davis. He leaves behind his brothers, Randall,
Michael, Danny and Kenneth Davis, and one sister, Gail Spears. Tommy was the
uncle of a host of nieces and nephews and raised one nephew, Nathan Jake Graves
of Huntington, as a son. Also, he has two step-daughters; Heather and Samantha
whom he raised and loved as his own. Tommy was an exceptional musician and
mechanic, and he worked in natural gas fields as a driller. Funeral services
will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Johnson Tiller Funeral
Home by the Rev. Earl Burgess, with visiting hours beginning at 11 a.m. Tommy
will then be laid to rest at Mt. Vernon Cemetery, leaving behind a testament of
kindness, love, and dedication to his family.

HOPE SALMONS EADES, formerly from Dunlow, went to
be with Her Lord on October 9, 2011. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00
a.m. Friday, October 14, 2011 at the Morris Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside
services will follow at 1:30 at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens, Flatwoods, Ky. She
was the daughter of Chapman (Chap) H. Salmons and Mary (Maynard) Salmons of
Dunlow. She was a faithful member of Hill Top Baptist Church in Pinnacle, NC.
Hope was preceded in death by her mother, father, brothers Dorsey and Otis, as
well as two nephews Toney Wilson and Dorsey Hallman. She is survived by two
sons: Floyd (Nancy) Stroud of King, NC with whom she made her home and Roger
(Mabel) Stroud of Flatwoods, KY. Four grandchildren; Kenneth Stroud of
Flatwoods, Ky., Veronica Yoshida of Durham, NC, Jeff Stroud of King, NC and
April Ellis of Jarrell, Tx. Six great grandchildren, Corey and Trevor Stroud,
Donovan and Keria Yoshida, Austin and Rachael Ellis. Also surviving are three
sisters; Shirley (Hallman) Perry of Dunlow, Shelda Lovins of Ohio and June
(Lawrence) Wilson of Fl. Hope will be missed by a great number of friends, but
she heard the call " Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared
for you from the foundation of the world." Matthew 25:24 In lieu of flowers Hope

FREEMAN BRANHAM, 71, of Kenova died Sunday, October
9, 2011 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington. Mr. Branham was
born October 2, 1940 in Clifford, Ky. to the late Samuel and Maxie (Dillon)
Branham. He is survived by his wife, Emma Jean Branham, children, Donna (Greg)
Dean, Robert (Teresa) Branham, Elsie Fry, Wilma (Donald) Lewis, and Terry
Branham; grandchildren Beth Ann(Hammer) Blankenship, Dustin Lee (Taylor) Dean,
Jennifer, Melissa and Michael Frye, Courtney and Allison Cole, Destiny Marie and
Amaya Rhain Branham; great-grandchildren Kyle Blankenship, Emmalee Blankenship,
and Maddox Dean. Additional survivors include six brothers and four sisters.

SHIRLEY MAE DEW CONNOR, 81, of Kenova, W. Va.,
passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2011, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House
in Huntington, W. Va. Shirley was born November 4, 1929 in Iron Gate, Va. a
daughter of the late Lewis H. and Mary F. Helmentola Dew. She was a member of
the First Baptist Church of Kenova. Shirley was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi
Sorority. She was a loving wife and mother working in the home caring for the
needs of her family. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Loyal E.
Connor; son, Lewis W. Connor and two sisters, Thelma Dew Whitmer and Jeanne Dew
Thompson. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Sherry M. Connor of
Huntington; one brother, Norman Dew; two sisters-in-law, Lillian Conner and
Pearl Conner all of Iron Gate, Va.; her God daughter, Mickey Caldwell Sumner;
her special caregiver Lori Keyser and special helper, Dara Gorby; three lifelong
friends, Lucille Linn, Ann Maeland and Helen Clarke, and she has left behind
many special nieces, nephews and friends that were all loved and very close to
her heart. The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday,

DAVID (BO) ALLEN PERRY, 62, of Fort Gay, passed
away on October 9, 2011, at Heritage Center. He was born November 8, 1948 to
parents Ray Perry and Bertha Perry Brumfield both deceased. He was the youngest
of six children. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his
sister Carol Sammons and one brother Jerry Dale Perry. He is survived by his
beloved wife De Perry; other survivors include his son by a previous marriage,
Chauncey (Heidi) Perry of Burlington, OH. Three brothers; Donnie (Jenny) Perry,
Roy (Rokie) Perry, Joe (Charlene) Perry, one sister, Dorothy Nichols, in
addition to six grandchildren. He was a member of England Hill Freewill Baptist
Church in Catlettsburg under Pastor Willy Mays. Burials was at Bean Cemetery
Centerville Road. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at England
Hill Freewill Baptist Church in Catlettsburg. Visitation was at 1 p.m. Young
Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

SAM EDWARD DIAMOND, 64, of Louisa, went to be with
the Lord on Monday. October 10, 2011 at Community Hospice is Ashland, Ky. after
a brief illness. Sam was born January 13, 1947 in Louisa, the son of Virginia
Prince Diamond of Louisa and the late Edgar J. Diamond. He was preceded in death
by his father and mother in law Edd and Roberta Childress Daniels. In addition
to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Betty Jane Daniels
Diamond; one son Thomas Edward Diamond of Hinton, OK, one brother and sister-in-
law Danny and Pearlie Diamond of Louisa and two grandchildren; Dustin and Thomas
of OK. He is also survived by his special "Sissy" Marilyn Miller and her husband
Danny of Louisa and his three nieces; Sabrina Young and husband Tim of, Louisa,
Darielle Chapman and husband Tony of Inez and Audreanna Bowen and husband Shawn
of Louisa and a host of family and friends that will miss him dearly. Sam
graduated from Louisa High School in 1964. He was a veteran, having served for
four years in the US Air Force as a staff sergeant. He was a member of the
national rifle association, Northeastern KY Fish and Game Club, and the UMWA. He
began his career as a master electrician at Kentucky Power Company's Big Sandy
Plant and in 2004 retired from Marrowbone Development Company in Naugatuck after
25 years of service as an electronic-control tech and plant electrician. He then
worked for Allevard-Sogefi and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Visitation will

JERRY LEE McGUE, 73, of Lesage, W. Va., formerly of
Florida, passed away after a short but courageous battle with cancer on
Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. He was born
July 13, 1938, in Huntington, W. Va., a son of the late Herman and Elma McGue.
His brother Richard McGue also preceded him in death. Jerry served four years in

with his Lord on Sunday October 16, 2011. Mr. Sparks was born May 13, 1944 in
Louisa, Ky. The son of the Late William Darwin and Mary Lou Branham Sparks. In
addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Jeanette
Sparks and a sister Janie Sparks Roberts. Mr. Sparks was a retired educator with
the Lawrence County School System, where he served for over 30 years as a
teacher, vice principal and as principal. Mr. Sparks was a member of the First
Baptist Church in Louisa, Ky and has served as Deacon for over 30 years. He was
an active Gideon Speaker, counselor at Cornerstone Christian Counseling Center
in Louisa, active in the community food pantry, a board member on the Lawrence
County Library Board and a member of the Fathers Four Quartet. Survivors include
a wife Colin Ruth Johnson Sparks of Louisa, one daughter Elizabeth (David)
Hodges of Richmond Ky, one son James William (Amy) Sparks of Louisa, 2 step
Daughters, Amy Frazier and Carrie Pack both of Louisa, a sister Martha (Don)

Monday October 17, 2011 at 12 Pole Creek, Cabwaylingo, due to injuries sustained
in an automobile accident. He was born on October 14, 1978 in Logan. He was a

construction company in Cleveland, OH. William is survived by his parents as

Kermit and Trina Baoha of Wayne. He will be sadly missed by his family and

them. Bryce was 16-years-old, a vibrant, loving, caring young woman who touched
many lives. She attended Lincoln County High School where she was a junior, and
was surrounded by many friends. Bryce is preceded in death by her father and
mother Greg and Kristina Hazelett and grandparents Margaret and Dallas Hazelett.

MILLIE FERGUSON ASBURY, 87, of Dunlow, W.Va., left
this life to join her husband, Curtis, in Heaven on October 18, 2011. She
entered this world on April 24, 1924, one of 10 blessings to parents Noah
Ferguson and Ollie Browning Ferguson. In addition to her parents, she is
preceded in death by four brothers Checker Ferguson, Fletcher Ferguson, Eugene
Ferguson and Noah Ferguson Jr.; two sisters, Ida Pearl Meade and Irene Asbury.
Surviving siblings include Virginia Hogg and Reba Hankins of Michigan and Sarah
Hankins of Tennessee. She married her soul mate, Curtis Asbury, in 1939. They
cherished each other for 72 years. They were graced with two loving sons, Elijah
Ronald Asbury and Michael Lee Asbury. In 1960-1970, she owned and operated The
Parkway Restaurant at the entrance to Cabwaylingo State Park in Wayne County,
W.Va. She also established Asbury's Grocery in Dunlow, W.Va., where she devoted
52 years to serving her community. She loved her community as she loved her
family. Throughout the years, she became known as everyone's "Mammie." She
remained with us for approximately three months following the death of her
beloved Curt. She leaves behind two sons, Ronnie Asbury and wife Doris, and Mike
Asbury; three grandchildren, Rhonda Asbury Clovis and husband Matthew, Melissa
Asbury Cagigas, and James "Jimmy" Asbury; three great-grandchildren, Sarah
Blackburn and husband Jeff, Rachel Doss and husband Todd, and John Cagigas; as
well as one great- great-grandchild, Elijah Wade Blackburn. Funeral services

Blankenship of Prichard, W. Va., and Velma (Chuck) Stidard of Parma, Ohio. As
the oldest child of 12, she loved all of the many nieces and nephews of her
siblings so very much. She graduated from Wayne High School in 1949 and entered
into Marshall University. She later met and married Robert L. Ledbetter, and
recently celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. In addition to being
survived by her husband, she leaves behind her son Dale (Dinah) Ledbetter of
Ceredo, W.Va., and Lisa (Greg) Shuler of Barboursville, W. Va. She was blessed
with grandchildren Nicole (Jimmy) Parker of Huntington, Keith Bailey of
Barboursville, and Mikah Ledbetter of Barboursville. She gave all of her love to
them and provided special care to Mikah throughout her life to ensure her
special needs were met. In the past few years, her immediate family grew again
with the birth of two beautiful great-grandchildren Alexandria "Dria" Dayle
Parker and Slayden "Shooter" Cole Patrick Parker, both of Huntington. Geoffrey
Shuler of Charleston, W. Va., Parker Shuler of Lexington, Ky., Carissa Shuler of
Huntington, Z. Raymond Shuler of Charleston and Ziah Shuler of Barboursville,
became an additional part of her family upon her daughter's marriage. Her love
for God was expressed daily through her life as a faithful member of the Church
of Christ, Cannonsburg, Ky. Services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday,
October 26, 2011, at the Ceredo-Kenova Funeral Home with Minister Mike Fyffe
officiating. Committal will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Highland Memorial
Gardens, South Point, Ohio. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the

RUTH JONES, age 84, of Pembroke, Va., died Monday,
October 24, 2011, at Heritage Hall. She was born in West Virginia on May 23,
1927, to the late John Edward and Minnie Smith Wyer. She was also preceded in in
death by her husband, Billy James Jones; a daughter, Karen Lee Arnold; and a
son, John Edward Jones. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kitty
and Robert Devereaux of Pembroke; beloved daughter-in-law Nicole Jones, of
Florida; five grandchildren, Shelley and Annette Devereaux, Jackie Semmens and
husband John, and Jacob and Julie Jones. Graveside services will be conducted 1
p.m. Saturday, October 29, 2011, in the Jones Cemetery, East Lynn, W. Va. The
family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday evening with a prayer

ROBERT F. DYER, age 77, formerly of Portsmouth, OH
and Cove Gap , W. Va. , passed away in New Boston, MI on October 25, 2011.
Robert was the son of the late, Herbert and Edna (Manns) Dyer and the grandson
of Samuel Dyer, Angeline (Kraft) Dyer, and Melroy Manns, all of the Cove Gap
area. He is survived by his son, Scott (Hailie) Dyer, daughters Lesa (Jody)
Nielsen and Tara (Bryan) Geresy. He was the proud grandfather of Shannon,
Lindsay, Jessie, Zackary, Hannah, April, Sabrina, Adam, Kyleigh, Marissa, Heron
and Samuel. He was the great grandfather of Landon, Logan and Sophia. He is also
survived by Linda Dyer, Karen Glenn and several loving nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his sisters, Lois and Jean. Bo.4 served his
country as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. He then went to
work for the Great Lakes Steel Corporation, in Wyandotte, MI where he retired
after 34 years. He was an avid outdoors- man who enjoyed fishing, hunting and
spending time with friends at his cherished cabin in Lewiston, MI. He was a
humble man who was a never ending source of pride to his family. He will be
missed. Funeral was Friday, 10:30 AM, at Michigan Memorial Funeral Home, (next

VIOLET MARIE EGNOR, 88, of Wayne, W. Va., passed
away on Wednesday, October 26, 2011, at the Emogene Dolin Hospice House,
Huntington. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, October 30,
2011, at the Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne with Pastor Amos Simmons and
Pastor Ray Williamson officiating. Burial will follow at White Chapel Memorial
Gardens, Barboursville, W. Va. She was born on March 25, 1923, in Wayne, a
daughter to the late Charles Nelson and Willa Lawson Adkins. She was a retired
seamstress for Imperial Bedding. A brother, Asa Nelson, sister Myrtle Ramey and
two half-sisters Kizzee Adkins and Virginia Rowe also preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son John D. Egnor and wife Pam of Wayne, a brother Eugene
Adkins and wife Genevieve of Huntington, W. Va.; three grandchildren Stephanie
Ross and husband Bryan of Huntington, John D. Egnor II and wife Samantha and
James Egnor and girlfriend Tori Booten, all of Wayne; four great-grandchildren,
Blaine and Mason Taylor; Draven and Jaden Egnor; and a host of nieces and

JAMES H. KIRK, 85, of Louisa passed away on October
27, 2011. He was a retired signal maintainer for C&O Railroad. He is preceded in
death by his wife Betsey Pope Kirk and his parents Henry Kirk and Marinda Herald
Kirk and two sons; Gary W. Kirk and Joey L. Kirk. He is survived by three
daughters; Daphene (John) Goble of Louisa, Charlene (Dan) Moriarty of Lexington,
and Joyce (Steve) Goble of Louisa; two sons Phillip (Barbara) Kirk of Inez and
Charles (Ruth) Kirk of Louisa in addition to 10 grandchildren and 10 great
grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, October 30, 2011 at 2
p.m. at New Friendship United Baptist Church with Elder John Goble and Phillip
Kirk officiating. Burial will follow at the Yates-Pope Cemetery in Louisa.

MILLARD ROBERTSON, 92, of Kenova, W. Va., died
Thursday, October 27, 2011, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in
Huntington, W. Va. He was born December 29, 1918, in Wayne County, W. Va., a son
of the late Johnson and Tennessee Smith Robertson. He was retired from Corbin
Limited. Millard was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II, and
a member of American Legion Post #93 Kenova, whose honor guard will conduct
military graveside rites. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death
by his wife Lillian Hodge Robertson; one son James Michael Robertson, one sister
Alice Shannon and two brothers Virgil and Frank Robertson. He is survived by
three daughters, Betty Jean Thompson of Virginia Beach, Va., Rhonda Lynn (Steve)
Bunyan of Kenova and his special daughter, Brenda Sue Robertson whom he cared
for and devoted his life to; a special granddaughter, who cared for him through
his illness, Amber (Scott) Nolan; a special grandson, Shawn Smith; seven
grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and two great- great-grandchildren; three
sisters, Irene Maynard of Beaver, Ohio, Gladys Brown of Kenova and Mary Solly of
Shreveport, La., and one brother, Willie Robertson of Kenova. Friends may call

DOLLY ESTER (CHAFIN) CLARKSON, 74, of Ceredo, died
Saturday, October 29, 2011, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. She was
born April 19, 1937, in Hode (Martin County), Ky., to the late Marion and Carrie
(Horn) Chafin. Mrs. Clarkson was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ceredo.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Clarence H. Clarkson; two sons, Mark
(Becky) Clarkson and Charles Clarkson. Other survivors include grandchildren,
Ryan Kay (Matt) Skeens and Jordan Rae Clarkson; along with several nieces and
nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers
and sister, Charles Chafin, Donnie Chafin, James Chafin, Shirlen Chafin, Walden
Chafin, Richard Chafin, Noah Chafin and Geraldine Chafin Burnette. Funeral
services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in
Ceredo, with Pastor Rodney Hale officiating. Burial will follow in the Crescent
Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the church.
