BOYD CARELTON LITTLE, 66, of Kitts Hill, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at St. Mary's Medical Center, Huntington. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, with Pastor O. F. Adkins officiating. Burial will follow at the Little family cemetery at Fort Gay. He was born January 9, 1948 at Chatteroy, W.Va., a son of the late Fred and Bessie Kerr Little. Boyd was the owner of B P and A Trucking and was a faithful member of the Charity United Baptist Church. A sister, Ruby Robertson, and brothers James, Fred, and John Henry Little also preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Patty Jean McCormick Little, a daughter, Patty Angela Little of Kitts Hill, grandsons Michael and Justin Ramsey, great-grandchildren Marissa, Jeremy and Shelby Ramsey, and brothers, Donald Little (Dorothy) of Beaver Creek, Ohio, Lemuel Little (Darlene) of Ft. Gay, and George Little of Louisa, Ky. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Morris Funeral Home.

IRENE HOLBROOK, 87, of Kenova and Buffalo Creek, W.Va., went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday October 1, 2014 at the Emogene Dolin Hospice House. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Beard Mortuary with Rev. Pat Elliott officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery. She was born April 28, 1927 in Wayne, the daughter of the late Mont and Georgia Milam Webb. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Garnet William Holbrook, two sons, Gary Lee and Ronald William and twelve siblings. She was an active member of Spring Valley Freedom Baptist Church. She is survived by four loving daughters whom she adored, Linda Piccirillo of Huntington; Temia Gail Shanks of Huntington; Patsy Gruenenfelder of Dallas, TX and Sandy (Cliff) Wilson of Lexington, Ky.; thirteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews and her church family who she loved dearly. THELMA HOPE ADKINS, 75, of Huntington, passed away Saturday, October 4, 2014 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Minister Emual Adkins. Burial will be in Jones Cemetery. She was born September 30, 1939 in East Lynn, a daughter of the late Elmer and Reba Lester Adkins. She was also preceded in death by one grandson, Mark Anthony Adkins, Jr., and one sister, Dicyellen Burns. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Sheffield of Huntington, and a special "son-in-law" Alan Sheffield; two sons, Carlos M. Adkins of Huntington, and Mark A. Adkins and his wife, Melanie of South Point; sisters Elizabeth Scarberry and Louise Maynard and her husband, J.W., all of Cleveland, Ohio; brothers, Elmer Adkins Jr, and his wife, Agnes of East Lynn, Anthony Adkins and his wife Sybil, and Cecil Adkins and his wife, Goldie, all of Huntington; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank Cabell Home Health, especially Brenda Damron and Michael Fraley, and the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House for all of their kindness and care during mom's illness. Visitation will be after noon, Wednesday, at the funeral home.

ELIZABETH L. SPRING, of Huntington, died October 4, 2014 at Trinity West Hospital in Steubenville Ohio. She is the daughter of Jeffrey M. Spring of Toronto, Ohio and mother Stacey L. Plummer and Ronald D. Plummer- step father of Huntington. Elizabeth graduated from Spring Valley High School and attended Marshall University in Huntington. Surviving is a daughter, Chelsie L. Spring of Steubenville, Ohio, two nephews Charles and Bryan Barr of Steubenville, Ohio, one niece Kimrie Staley of South Point, Ohio. One sister and best friend Brittanie L. Spring of Steubenville, Ohio, step-sisters Brooke Plummer of South Point, and Nicole Spring of Toronto, Ohio. Stepbrothers Jason Gillespie of Lansing, Michigan, and Jeffrey Spring Jr. of Toronto, Ohio. One surviving grandmother Donna Plummer of Huntington, a special Aunt Kathy Booth and cousin Mike Booth of Huntington. Elizabeth loved sports and music and was a free wheeling spirit who had many friends. She has left us way too soon and will be sadly missed. Service will be at the convenience of the family. HAYDEN ODELL RUSSELL, 4, died Oct. 5, 2014 at home. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home. Visitation 6 p.m. Thursday at funeral home.

HENRY KETCHERSID, 77, formerly of Chicago, IL and Dingess, WV, passed away Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Wayne Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born February 19, 1937 at Garland, WV, a son of the late Jesse and Lucy Rock Ketchersid. A sister, Juanita Deskins, and brothers Arnold, Jesse and Roy Ketchersid, also preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Imogene Messer Ketchersid; two daughters, Angie Virene (Bob), and Janeen Giza (Dan), all of Chicago; three sons, Bruce and Bert Ketchersid of Dingess, WV, and Brian Ketchersid of Chicago; two sisters, Ollie Lewis and Polly Kimble of Wayne, WV; a brother, Frank Ketchersid of Chicago; four grandchildren, Bradley, B.J., Tiffany and Megan. Funeral services will be conducted at noon Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, WV, by Brother Scott Marshall and Brother Arbie Rice. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Wayne. Friends called from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday at the House of Prayer, Dingess, WV, and after 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Morris Funeral Home.

NILE MEADE, 52, of Marrowbone, West Virginia passed away on October 5, 2014 at his home after a lingering battle with cancer. Nile was born on July 15, 1962 to Nora Spaulding Meade of Marrowbone, West Virginia and the late Shelby Ray Meade. In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by one brother, Donnie Meade. Nile is survived by his loving wife, Laura (Messer) Meade, two children; Alexander Nile Meade and Ashley Nicole Meade all from Marrowbone, West Virginia. He is also survived by his mother; Nora Spaulding Meade, brothers; Ernest (Mary) Meade of Marrowbone, WV, Shelby (Laura) Meade of Williamson, WV, Douglas (Dorothy Dottie) Meade of Chillicothe, Ohio, Bryant (Christy) Meade of Fort Gay, and sisters; Brenda (Alva Lee) Maggard of Mill Creek, WV, Yvonne Meade of Lovely, KY and Lisa (Timothy) DeRamcy of Marrowbone, WV. Nile was a beloved uncle, cousin and friend to so many. He was a faithful christian who loved to talk about his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Nile didn’t want to say goodbye – Its just so long for a little while. Funeral services were held at the Marrowbone Freewill Baptist Church on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at 1 p.m. with Bryant Meade officiating. Burial will follow at the Brewer Cemetery in Marrowbone, WV. CHRISTOPHER ALLEN HOGSTON, 45, of Webbville, Ky. passed away Sunday, October 5, 2014 at his home. He was born December 5, 1968 in Columbus, Ohio the son of Arnett Hogston Sr. and Connie Napier Hogston Cooper. He was a construction worker and was of Baptist Faith. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Arnett Hogston Jr.; and Randy Hogston; one sister, Tina Penix. Survivors include, his loving wife, Edith Hogston of Webbville, Ky.; mother, Connie Sue Cooper; father, Arnett Hogston Sr.; three sons, Christopher Allen Hogston Stlitner; Carl James Albert McKiney and William Joseph (BJ) McKinney; one daughter, Debra Anna Mitchell; 5 Grandchildren; one special niece, Christina Sue Penix; one special nephew, Franklin J. Penix; 3 nieces, 4 nephews; 4 special cousins, Rick, Terri, Jeanie, and Rickie Hogston; special sister-in-law, Ruth McKinney; special uncle, Lincus K. Hogston. Graveside service will be conducted 2:00 pm Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at the Hogston Cemetery, Fallsburg, Ky. with Lincus Hogston and Burl Lewis officiating. Visitation will be 11:00am til 1:30pm Wednesday at Young Funeral Home.

ROBERTA "BERTA" CYRUS WATTS, 78, of Lavalette, WV, passed this life and went home to be with her Lord on Monday, October 6, 2014 at her residence surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 9, 2014 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, WV. Burial will follow at Community Memorial Gardens, Wayne. She was born on February 12, 1936, at Fort Gay, WV, a daughter of the late Boyd Cyrus and Calpernia "Pernie" Ball Cyrus. Berta was a homemaker and a former member of Faith Baptist Church, Cannonsburg, Ky. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers. Survivors include her loving husband Lucian Watts, three daughters Brenda King (William) of Elkview, WV, Judy Holbrook (Pat) of Grayson, KY, and Patricia Benedict (Jeff) of Wheeling, WV, four sons: Dale Watts (Becky) of Ashland, KY, Danny Watts (Loretta) of South Point, Ohio, Thomas Watts (Sheila) of Louisville, KY, Michael Watts (Michelle) of South Point, Ohio and one sister Loretta "Reda" Robertson of Genoa, WV. Berta is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

ALAM LEE RAMEY CLARK, 85, of Huntington, W.Va., went to be with the lord Monday, October 6, 2014 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. She was born May 31, 1929 in East Lynn, W.Va., a daughter of the late James Fielden Ramey and Norma Frances Price Ramey. She was a homemaker and a member of Guyandotte Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Clark; five sisters, Florida McCoy, Elsie Wagner, Mary Ramey, Sarah Adkins, and Thelma Price; seven brothers, Christian, Norman, Everett, Thomas, James, Robert, and Chester. Survivors include one daughter, Helen Brown of Huntington; four sons, Joe Ramey of Prichard, W.Va, James R. Ramey of Wayne, W.Va, Robert Thierry and his wife Peggy of Genoa, W.Va, and Jeffery Thierry of Portsmouth, Ohio; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors too numerous to mention. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, October 9, 2014 at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home in Wayne. Burial will follow at the Ramey Cemetery. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

DAVID ALLEN MASSIE, son of the late William T. and Macel Dorsey Massie passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at his home. David was born August 27, 1944 in Kenova. He attended school in Kenova and was a 1962 graduate of Ceredo-Kenova High School. David served in the U.S. Army Reserves and was a member of American Legion Post #93 Kenova, whose Honor Guard will conduct graveside rites. Upon completion of his active duty, David went to work at Armco Steel as the head of maintenance and eventually retired after many years of service. He was very involved in community sports organizations and spent many hours volunteering with the C-K Little League and C-K Babe Ruth Baseball Programs and also the C-K Buddy League Basketball Program. David was a member of the Catlettsburg Elks #942. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Arlene Cassell. He is survived by two children, Allana Jane Oak, and her husband David Oak of Edgewood, KY.; Ric Allen Massie and his girlfriend, Michelle Owens Gartin of Proctorville, Ohio; grandchildren, Lindsey Mae, Kennedy Rae, Wyatt Tell Oak and Jacob Allan, Zachary Cole, Rikki Michele and Izack Owen Massie; a niece, Mary Beth Cassell; a great nephew, William "Billy" Smith; special friends, Steve Fedczak, Charlie Fedczak, Jo Goyer, Steve "Pickle" Mealey and his friends from the Highway Inn. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova. A graveside service will be conducted Sunday, October 12, 2014 at 1 p.m. at the Bean Family Cemetery in Prichard, W.Va. ERIE JAY PERRY, 86, of Kenova, passed away Tuesday October 7, 2014, at St. Mary’s Medical Center. He was born August 26, 1928 in Stirrot, WV, a son of the late George and Tennie Fry Perry. E. J. retired as Security Guard for Wackenhut, loved to play and sing Country Music and fishing. He was a member of Church of Christ. Surviving is his adoring wife of 65 years, Garnette Scarberry Perry, their children, Erie Dale Perry (Esther Bolin), of Huntington, WV and Daphne Cremeans (Kelvin II) of Milton, WV, grandchildren, Rochelle, Rikhi, Indra, and very special grandson, Damon, and six great grandchildren. Brother, Harrison Hezikiah Perry of Kenova, many nieces, nephews and family, all loved, and special friend Connie Cole. Graveside service was 1:30 p.m. Friday October 10, 2014 at Docks Creek Cemetery in Kenova. Pastor Bobby Holland officiated. GREGORY DAVID WORKMAN, 61, of Kenova passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2014 in Cabell-Huntington Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted noon Friday, October 10, 2014 at the First Independent Missionary Baptist Church of which he was a member with Pastor Scott Byard officiating. Interment will follow in Dock's Creek Cemetery. Greg was born January 21, 1953 in Huntington, son of Vernon Garrett "Cotton" and Wilma June Wilson Workman. Besides his parents he is also survived by his beloved wife of 40 years Sandra Gail Hodge Workman; two daughters and one son-in-law Jennifer Nicole Mathews of Huntington and Ashley Rebecca Dayton (Brian) of Hurricane; one sister Joan Kathleen Barbour of Kenova; one niece Jenna Kaitlyn Barbour of Kenova and one grandson Luke Alexander Mathews of Huntington. JERRY MICHAEL SPAULDING, 48, of Kermit, West Virginia passed away on October 11, 2014 at Three Rivers Medical Center in Louisa, Kentucky. He was born on November 7, 1965 to Grethel Conn of Crum, West Virginia and the late Ervin Spaulding. In addition to his father he is preceded by one son, Jerry Ervin Spaulding and one sister, Debbie Alley. Jerry is survived by wife, Roberta Spaulding of Kermit, West Virginia; children, Brittany and Josh Muncy of Betsy Maynard, his baby, his son, Benji and Courtney Maynard and daughter in law, Jessica Thompson all of Kermit, West Virginia, grandchildren, Brooklyn and Addison Spaulding of Kermit, WV, Baby Junior of Louisa, Kentucky and Bryson and Peyton Muncy of Kermit, WV. He is also survived by his mother, Grethel Conn, father in law, Bob Richardson of Ohio, step father, George New of Crum; sisters, Brenda (Ray) Jude and Connie Spaulding Maynard both of Crum, WV, Billie Jean Butcher of Paintsville, Kentucky, along with five nephews and four nieces. He was loved by many friends and family and will be missed dearly. Funeral services were held at the Golden Springs Church in Stonecoal, WV on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at 2:00pm with Ken Allen and Jess Allen officiating. Burial followed at the Spaulding Cemetery on Stonecoal. Friends visited at the church on Monday and Tuesday starting at 6:00 pm. Arrangements are under the direction of the Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home, Inez, Kentucky.

HAROLD R. "DICK" ADKINS, 94, of Wayne, died peacefully Sunday, October 12, 2014. He was born November 14, 1919, a son of the late William Mike and Florida Jane Davis Adkins. Also preceding him in death were four sisters; Naza Hager, Missie Hager, Lena Dial, and Glenna Albright; four brothers, Arnett Adkins, Garnett Adkins, Ardell Adkins, and Mike Adkins. Survivors include his wife, Oline Perdue Adkins; one son, Harold D. Adkins; one daughter, Jeanette Shepard; four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Harold served in the U.S. Army in WWII. He retired from Ohio and West Virginia school systems and was a member of Big Creek Baptist Church. Graveside service will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, at Mt. Vernon Cemetery with Pastor Matthew Stepp officiating. Johnson Tiller Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Adkins family. LARRY SCOTT MANNING ROBINSON, "The Egg Man", Born January 30, 1959, passed away Sunday October 12, 2014 at 3:36 a.m. at the Meadowview Regional Hospital with his loving wife Julie Manning, daughters Lindsay Swanner and Angelica Marquez, son Javier Marquez and son-in-law Brandon Swanner by his side. He was a wonderful husband, father, brother and papaw. He was preceded in death by his father Eligaha Robinson, mother Dale Robinson and his beloved dog Paison. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife Julie Manning, Carlisle, daughter and son-in-law Lindsay and Brandon Swanner, Carlisle, Larianne and Bruce Swanner, TN, Tatum Canady, Williamsburg, Ryan Allee. Louisville, Javier Marquez, Carlisle, Jeremiah and Meghan Brown, Carlisle, Sasha Marquez, South Carolina, Angelica Marquez, Morehead and Ignacia Marquez, Lexington, his grandchildren, John Swanner, Kaelyn Perry, Eligaha Swanner, Daisie Swanner and Brayden Brown, all of Carlisle, Damien Swanner, Cassie, Chelsea and Morgan Canady, Williamsburg, Dakota Beatty, Lexington, Evan Winnie, New York, Michael, Luciano, Anthony and Annekin Allee, North Carolina. Six sisters and four brothers, Pam and Scott Bohne, Illinois, Rockie and Dennis Hurrell, Colorado, Patti Bauman, Michigan, Peggy Robinson, Ohio, Emmy and Roger Hatch, Ohio, Delores and Jeff Herndon, Alabama, Randy and Anne Robinson, West Virginia, Sam and Sheria Robinson, West Virginia, Rob Robinson, West Virginia and Noah Robinson, Germany, also several nieces, nephews and a host of friends whom he loved very much. Funeral services will be held at 11 am. Friday October 17 at the Young Funeral Home in Louisa, Ky with Pastor Terry Meredith and Rev. Roger Jordan officiating. Burial will follow in the Buck Robinson Family Cemetery, Dunlow, West Virginia. Visitation 6 – 8 pm Thursday at Young Funeral Home Chapel.

JUDY GAIL HAROLD, 71, of Ona, WV, beloved Mother, passed away Monday October 13, 2014 at Midland Meadows, Ona, WV. She was born July 25, 1943 in Huntington, WV, to Clyde Asbury and the late Reathel Wanda Saunders Blankenship. Judy was a former employee of Cilco and Chiron Interoptics and she was a homemaker. She was also a member of the American Legion Post 93 of Kenova Ladies Auxiliary. In addition to her mother she was also preceded in death by her husband Arnold Lee Harold; two brothers and one sister. Survivors include a daughter and son in law Karen and Tom Lemaster; two sons and a daughter in law Mark and Cheryl Crites and Jeff Crites and his girlfriend Lavona Jones; four grandchildren Zachary Gebhardt, Leslie and Jason Crites, Courtney Crites; two step grandchildren Seth and Devon Lease; two great granddaughters; three brothers Randy Blankenship, Ronnie Blankenship and Homer Blankenship; sister Cindy Withrow and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staffs of Midland Meadows and Hospice of Huntington. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hospice of Huntington. BLANCHE TAYLOR WILEY, 90, of Wayne, passed away Monday, October 13, 2014. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Scott Ferguson. Burial will follow at Community Memorial Gardens, Wayne. She was born June 3, 1924 in Cove Gap, W.Va., a daughter of the late Benjamin Thompson Taylor and Emmazette Pack Taylor. Also preceding her in death was her husband of 53 years, Dennie Wiley who passed in March of 2000; four older sisters, Mabel Manns, Marjorie Maynard, Opal Maynard and Betty Webb; two infant brothers, Joseph and Luther Taylor; and a cousin whom she called brother, Frank Taylor. Blanche was a homemaker and the mother of three children, Suzanne Skeens and husband, Leroy; Charles David Wiley and wife, Jane, Robert Daniel Wiley and wife, Sheila all of Wayne. Additional survivors include a sister, Dot Osburn and husband, Emory of Lavalette; three sisters-in-law, Liz Collins, Wanda Frazier, Donna Maynard; four grandchildren, Jessica Kramerick and husband, Dan, Weston Skeens and wife, Valena, Ian Wiley and Stuart Wiley; two great-grandchildren, Easton Kramerick and Case Kramerick. DONALD LEE SPURLOCK, 79, of Huntington, went home to be with his Lord on October, 13, 2014 at St. Mary's Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday October, 17, 2014 at the Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel, Barboursville by Pastor Basil Hudson. Entombment will be in White Chapel Mausoleum in Barboursville. Don was born April 7, 1935, in Wayne County. He was a MetLife Insurance Agent for forty-six years and a member for thirty-five years and currently the secretary/treasurer of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors. He was a longtime member of 26th Baptist Church, a member of the gospel quartet, The Nobleman, and a volunteer for Gideon's International and Big Brothers and Sisters. He was preceded in death by his older brother, Thomas Odell Spurlock, his mother, Daisy Mae McDonald-Spurlock, his father Alfonzo Spurlock, and his great-grandson, Kamrin Brown. MARVIN LEN TERRY, 62, of Troutman passed away Friday October 17, 2014 at the W.G. Hefner VA Medical Center. He was born November 10, 1951 in Cabell County, WV, a son of the late Marvin "Bud" Terry and Lucille Napier Terry. He was a US Army veteran serving his country in Vietnam. He was a fork lift operator in Burlington, IN for several years. Marvin was a member of Troutman Church of God. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Andrew Stephens, Leigh Ann Stephens Frye (Sam), Dana Stephens Moore (Daniel), Nickie Stephens, Tommy Fry Jr., Tim Fry, Tammy Fry Smith (Jeremy), Lindsey Maynard, and Brandon Maynard. She was a loving wife and stay at home mother. In her retirement, she loved to travel and shop. She could always find the best bargains. Janice was married 51 years to her husband, James D. Newman, who preceded her to Heaven by 11 days. Also preceding her passing was her father Charles Thomas Lucas, sister Tammy Jo Lucas Tooley and nephew Steve Lucas. What a reunion that was! She was a member pf Crockett Methodist Church and a retiree with 25 years of service at the Wayne County school board. She also worked in Wayne County elections for 30 years. She was of Baptist faith and a retired employee of Huntington Manufacturing. She was preceded in death by one sister, Ethel Mae Adkins, one brother, Alfred Adkins, and her step-son, Gene Nida. She is survived by her loving husband, Rev. DONALD MACK AKERS, 61, of Lowmansville, Ky. passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at Emogene Dolin Hospice House in Huntington, W.V. He was born July 12, 1952 in Ulysses, Ky. a son of the late John McDonald and Lucy Mae Murray Akers. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, James Bethley Akers. GEORGIA FAYE ALBRIGHT, 88, of Huntington, passed away October 29, 2014 at Madison Park Senior Community, Huntington. She was born May 5, 1926 in Lincoln County, W.Va. She was the daughter of the late Ollie Brunty and Anna (Clay) Brunty. Georgia was preceded in death by her husband Paul J. Albright, her life companion, two brothers Delbert Lee Brunty and Jennings Brunty; three sisters Leva Brunty Varney, Jewel Brunty Dowdy and Ona Faye Brunty Lutz. She leaves behind to mourn her loss her sons Ray Albright (Sherry), Alan Albright (Beth), Paul J. Albright (Mary Lou) and Robert Lee Albright and her daughter Sherry Jean Albright Fuller (Keith). HARRY EDWARD SIMMONS, 82, of Huntington, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, October 30, 2014, at St. Mary's Medical Center. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. He was born October 22, 1932, in Huntington, a son of the late Harold and Lena Blankenship Simmons. He was an insurance salesman for Appalachian Life Insurance Co. He was the only salesman to have all 55 counties for school insurance and received numerous awards. Harry was a 1950 graduate of Huntington High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War as a member of the 101st Airborne Division. He was also a member of the American Legion and the VFW. Harry was a member of the Madison Ave. Church of God. He was choir director for 43 years at various churches and sang for Presbyterian Manor for 27 years. Harry sang for many churches and organizations around the Tri-State area. He also volunteered countless hours coaching youth sports in Wayne County. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by an infant son, Mark Wayne; three brothers, Clarence, Raymond and Ralph Simmons; and sister, Pat Schneider. Survivors include his wife, Sara Earl Simmons; five sons and four daughters-in-law, Steve and Melanie Simmons, Brett and Leigh Ann Simmons, Bradwick Simmons, Eric and Andrea Simmons of Indianapolis, Ind., and Harry and Dorian Severino of Clayton, N.C.; 15 grandchildren, Michael, Stephanie (Steve), Taylor, Olivia, Jamison, Hayden, Payton, Shane, Brady, Brayden, Allie, Britton, Garrett, Casey and Kylie; and several nieces and nephews. CHARLENE MARIE FRAZIER SIZEMORE, 89, of Huntington, passed peacefully on Thursday, October 30, 2014, at St. Mary's Hospital. She was born in Wayne County, Huntington, on Monday, June 8, 1925. Charlene was one of five children, two boys and three girls of which two are surviving: Maxine Frazier Jarvis and Dolores Frazier Williams. Her father, Leander Frazier was a city fireman and her mother, Armilda Clark Frazier was a homemaker. Charlene was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Nolan Sizemore and her surviving immediate family members include: her daughter, Patrice Marie Sizemore Murphy of Huntington, husband Robert and their sons, Robert Nolan (Nell) Murphy of Georgetown, Ky., and their children Jack and Emma and Matthew Wess (Robin) Murphy of Greenville, S.C., and their children Caroline and Campbell. Mrs. Sizemore also had a son, Brett Nolan Sizemore of Carmel Ind., wife Katherine and their daughters, Emily and Lauren. Charlene, at an early age was expected to take responsibility for her actions and have a realistic sense of right and wrong. She was not raised naive and she was instilled with values such as honesty, integrity, compassion, the importance of education, and to respect the rights of others. These values guided her actions throughout her life. She was a champion for women and their right to be treated fairly and equally. Mrs. Sizemore was double promoted in grade school, salutatorian at Vinson High School in 1941 and started Marshall College at age 16. She worked at the Keith Albee paying her own way through college, graduating with honors in 1946 with a degree in Mathematics and Social Studies. She was President of the Delta Zeta Sorority. After college she taught advanced math at Kenova High School. In 1951, she began working for Sylvania Electric Products and was trained as a Statistical Engineer in charge of Quality Control for the Huntington Plant and receiving a Secret Clearance from the United States government during the Korean War. She was paid a comparable salary to men, a significant accomplishment for a twenty six year old during this period in time and a credit to Sylvania management. In the mid 1950's she resigned from Sylvania to become a full-time mother and homemaker. Mrs. Sizemore was a very active volunteer in the community for decades. She was president (two years) of the Huntington Woman's Club and on the Executive Board for 24 years. An active member in P.E.O.; Huntington Council of Garden Clubs; Huntington Panhellenic Association; Inter-Club Council; Huntington Galleries; National Management Association; First Presbyterian Church and numerous other organizations. She was a founding board member and served nine years for John Marshall Medical Services. An interest in a news article prompted her to attend an open meeting on Consumer Affairs and this along with her interest in quality control sparked her passion for consumer advocacy thus leading her to found the "Consumer Association of WV" and become its first President. She worked closely with Ralph Nader and Virginia Knauer, Special Assistant for Consumer Affairs during the Nixon Administration. She received two – three year appointments from Governor Arch Moore serving as Chairman of the Consumer Advisory Council of WV and numerous other appointments including ten years with the Consumer Advisory Council Underwriter Laboratories. Charlene was a national leader and activist for consumer protection. She was a strong advocate for the consumer developing numerous educational programs to educate consumers about product quality and their rights. She helped thousands of West Virginia families resolve consumer complaints against businesses selling inferior products. This exposure led her to become the first woman to serve (Appointed by President Carter and President Ford for eleven years) on the founding board of the National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS) where she represented consumer interests within the building community. NIBS focused on bringing together various government, industry, labor, and consumer interests to focus on the identification and resolution of problems that hamper the construction of safe, affordable structures for housing, commerce, and industry throughout the United States. Charlene Sizemore was an extremely strong, intelligent woman and an activist for consumer and women's rights, heavily involved in helping her community but most committed to her role as mother and wife. Her presence, influence, and advice will be missed. INEZ VALENA MARSHALL, 93, of Wayne, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 30, 2014. She was born January 21, 1921, in Genoa, W.Va., a daughter of the late Wayne and Bessie Frazier Dean. Her loving husband of 69 years, Kay Marshall, also preceded her in death, along with one daughter, Carol Hall, and one son-in-law, Lindsay Hall. Inez was a homemaker and a member of the Wayne Church of Christ. Left behind to cherish her memory is one son, Marion Marshall and his wife Barbara of Lavalette, W.Va.; four daughters, Kay Pinkerman and her husband Keith of Huntington, Wanda Booth and her husband Randy of Wayne, Patty Stiltner of Lavalette, and Cathy Dillon and her husband Mitchell of Wayne; 13 grandchildren, Kim (Munsell) Randall, Brian (Jen) Pinkerman, Chris (Ruth) Marshall, Angela (Jay) Fulks, Pam (Mike) Finley, Mike (Gladys) Booth, Melissa (Tim) Morton, Beth (Rusty) Barker, Cynthia (Chris) Yoho, Lucian (Kristin) Stiltner, Bill (Tosha) Stiltner, Jonah (Brandi) Dillon, and Valena (Weston) Skeens; 31 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild on the way. He was retired from the Wayne County Board of Education where he worked on the maintenance crew. ALMA M. HALE ADKINS ESTEP, 92, of Lavalette, W.Va., formerly of Salt Rock, departed this life October 31, 2014. She was born June 9, 1922, in Salt Rock to the late Ward and Icie Adkins Hale. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Verlin J. Adkins Sr. and Earnest R. Estep; three sisters, Mollie Estep, Ruby Gue and Stella Lee; son-in-law, Paul Dewey Gill; and her stepdaughter, Sharon Morrison. She was a retired employee of Huntington Manufacturing and a member of Big Creek Baptist Church. She is survived by two children, Verlin J. Adkins Jr. and Georgette of Wayne and Nancy F. JAMES RONALD McDOWELL, age 85, of Ceredo, passed away on Friday, October 31, 2014 while under the care of St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington. Born September 3, 1929 in Huntington, he was the son of the late Robert Lee and Mary Elizabeth (Miller) McDowell. James was a member of the Ceredo United Methodist Church and worked as a machine operator for Heiner's Bakery. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, Alberta Faye (Fraley) McDowell; his daughter, Kathy Holley and her husband, Brian; his sister-in-law, Katherine "Kitty" McDowell; his grandson, Brian C. Holley and his wife, Amanda; his great-grandson, Brayden E. Holley, and his special niece and nephew, Greg and Karen and their families. ELEANOR DALE ROBSON MAYS, 91 of West Huntington, W.Va. passed away, Friday, October 31, 2014 at home. She was born September 15, 1923 in Charleston, W.Va., the daughter of the late John Luttrell and Hattie Dale Mason Robson. She was a retired registered Nurse from Cabell-Huntington Hospital and a Charter Member of Spring Valley Freedom Baptist Church. She was also a graduate of Charleston High School, a Nursing Graduate of Morris Harvey College, Vice President of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary, member of the Women’s Club of Westmoreland in Huntington, W.Va., and received the Key to the City of Huntington for her outstanding service in nursing. In 1956 she helped open Cabell-Huntington Hospital and also opened the 4 South Wing at the Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Mays and one brother and two sisters. She is survived by three daughters, Ellen West of Pontiac, MI, Linda and Paul Glover of Ona, W.Va., Robin Davis of Huntington, W.Va., and one son, Danny and Saeng Webb of Philadelphia, PA; grandchildren, Julie Crain, Paul Blankenship, April Worden and Brad West, Jimmy and Sylena; great- grandchildren, Jocelyn, McKenzie, Chalie, Hannah, Hayden, Samantha, Jimmy and Shawna and Lillian and a very dear friend, Mary Ann Workman and a wonderful caregiver and friend, Jennifer Ball.
