CURTIS LEWIS, Jr., 80, of Genoa, W.Va. went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 1, 2014. He was born February 12, 1934 in Wayne County, West Virginia, a son of the late Curtis and Lessie Lewis. His brothers, Raymond Lewis and Cecil Lewis also preceded him in death. Curtis was a retired auto mechanic with the TTA in Huntington. He leaves behind one daughter, Sherry Griffith and her husband John of Houston, Tex.; and three grandchildren, Paige McKnight, Chase McKnight, both of Cole Grove Ohio, and Hayden Griffith of Houston. Also surviving is one sister, Ruth Osburn of Genoa; special nieces, Kathy Osburn and Dena Osburn; and several additional nieces and nephews. Curtis was a wonderful dad and pop pa and he will be missed dearly. Private burial will be held for the family. Johnson Tiller Funeral Home is honored to serve the Lewis family.

MICHAEL RAY WATTS, 62, of Huntington, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at the Huntington Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 5, 2014, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, W.Va., with Elder Joe Alley officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery at Wayne. He was born July 18, 1951, in Huntington, W.Va., a son of the late Floyd and Lena Hardwick Watts. Mike was a retired school bus inspector for the WV Department of Transportation and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Kenova Church of Christ. Other memberships include Wayne Masonic Lodge #18 AF&AM, having served as Past Master, Wayne Chapter of Royal Arch #18, and the Huntington Scottish Rite. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his grandparents Floyd and Sarah Watts and John and Ruth Hardwick, and aunts Maggie Spurlock and Marie Watts. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Wanda Steele Watts; a daughter Audra Watts of Barboursville, W.Va.; a son Floyd Watts (Laura) of Vienna, W.Va.; two sisters, Sally Ross (Hoyt) of Summerville, N.C., and Betty Holmes of Macungie, Pa.; three grandchildren, William and Samuel Watts, and Jonathan Bowen; and a special life-long friend who was like a brother, Randy Thompson. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Joy Martin and the VA ICU staff for their care and compassion during a very difficult time. Masonic graveside rites will be conducted by Wayne Lodge #18, and military graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 93 of Kenova. DALE EDWARD ROBERTSON, 57, of Huntington passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Deacon Paul Walters of the First Assembly Church of God, Massillon, Ohio. Burial will follow in Docks Creek Cemetery, Kenova, W.Va. He was born June 1, 1957, in Mt. Eaton, Ohio, a son of the late Frank Robertson Jr., and Delores Ann Walters Robertson. Dale was retired from Martin Steel. Survivors include his wife Deborah Ferguson Robertson; a son and daughter-in-law Dale Robertson Jr. and Jessica Robertson; a daughter and son-in-law Della and Josh Sova, and five grandchildren, Hadley Robertson, Kristin, Khloe, Joshua and Sophia Sova. SAUNDRA KAY MAYNARD, 62, of Dunlow, WV, passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Cabell-Huntington Hospital in Huntington, WV. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, WV, with Brother Buster Maynard officiating. Burial will follow at the S. D. Copley Cemetery at Dunlow, WV. She was born May 15, 1952 in Huntington, WV, a daughter of Rosa Copley Maynard of Dunlow and the late Latt Maynard, Jr. She is also survived by her sister, Rose Dotson (Jessie) of Cleveland, OH and her brother, Lattie Maynard of Dunlow, WV. ROY LEE PELFREY, 57, of Wayne, W.Va., passed away Thursday, July 3, 2014 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House after a long illness. He was born April 16, 1957 in Columbus, Oh., a son of the late Paul and Thelma Pelfrey. Roy worked in the timber and farming industries. He will be remembered as a hard worker and talented carpenter, who loved caring for his animals and tending his farm. He leaves behind three brothers, William Franklin Pelfrey and his wife Carole, Paul Lewis Pelfrey and his wife Bonnie, and Ray Pelfrey and his wife Tammy, all of Wayne; one sister, Alice Webb and her husband Eddie of Wayne; nieces and nephews, Todd Pitts, Alician Pitts, Tommy Pitts, Jason Walters, Ashley Milton, Morgan Milton, Billy Followay, Rosanna Followay, Jennifer Pelfrey, Paul Pelfrey, Thelma Pelfrey, Erin Palmer, Jessi Pelfrey, Sam Runyon, and Shara Talbert; and a host of great nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, July 7, 2014 at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Booth Cemetery. Friends may call from noon till service time on Saturday.

SHAWNA MARIE McCOY, 45, of Springfield, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord, July 4, 2014, after a short illness. She was the granddaughter of Y. B. Damron of Kenova, W.Va., who survives. She was born July 31, 1968. Also surviving are her husband, Larry McCoy and two sons, Levi and Lucas McCoy, all of Springfield, Ohio; mother Sylvia Damron Smallenbarger and dad Douglas Smallenbarger of Springfield, Ohio; brother Eric Smallenbarger of Cincinnati, Ohio; aunt Emma Booth of Kenova, W.Va., and a very special uncle, Raymond Miracle of Springfield, Ohio, along with lost of cousins, two nieces and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother John Zonner, maternal grandmother Emma Damron and aunt Joan Miracle. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 16, 2014, at Kenova Church of Christ, located at the corner of Chestnut and 18th Streets in Kenova. JENNIFER RENEE ESLICK, 32, of Catlettsburg, KY died Friday, July 4, 2014 at her residence. Funeral services were conducted 1:00 pm Sunday, July 6, 2014 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at William Perry Cemetery in Dunlow, WV. She was born November 2, 1981 in Huntington, WV, a daughter of Tenia Marcum Eslick and fiancé, Rick Hay of Catlettsburg, KY and her late loving father David Eslick. Also preceding her in death were her grandparents, James Eslick, Sam Morrison and Pauline Marcum; a very special cousin, John Hundley and a very close friend, Mindy Jones. Survivors include a daughter, Lyndsay Damron of Fort Gay, WV; a sister, LeAnn Eslick and fiancee, C. G. of Vanleer, KY; grandparents, Jannivee and Jess Copley; a special niece, Karlee Brook Mills; special uncle James (Wanda) Eslick and aunts and uncles Connie (Johnny) Hundley of Dunlow, WV, Billie (Don) Browning of Fort Gay, WV, Sara (Grover) Copley of Fort Gay, WV and numerous other aunts, uncles and cousins. JUDITH ANN JONES, 72, of Wayne, W.Va., went to be with The Lord on Saturday, July 5, 2014. She was born August 11, 1941 in Catlettsburg, Ky. Judy was a member of Tom’s Creek United Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Pastor Paul Jones and Betty Tomblin. Judy was preceded in death by her sister Billie Catherine Jones, her husband Pastor Everett Black, sister Nancy Jones, nephew Michael Jones, and niece Tosha Monique Shill. Judy is survived by two brothers, Roger Jones and his wife Mary, and Pastor Gary Jones and his late wife Ruby Rowe Jones; her sisters Mary Jane Merritt and her husband Arthur, Helen Joye and her husband Robert, and Donna and her husband Ed; and many beloved nieces and nephews, John Arthur Merritt, Crystal Merritt, David Merritt, Dale Jones, Brett Jones, Jason Jones, John Mark Black, Jack Martin, Linda Harmeyer, and Cathy Collins. Judy was blessed with many other family members who loved her dearly, as well as the light of her life, her dog Reilly. Judy’s family would like to extend a special thanks to the physicians, nurses and staff of Cabell Huntington Hospital and Wayne Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home with Pastor Garland Perry and Deacon Terry Thompson of Tom’s Creek United Baptist Church. Burial followed in the Jones Cemetery. The family invited friends to visit after 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

MANUEL BARCELLO, 89, of Kenova, W.Va., died Saturday, July 5, 2014, at St. Mary's Medical Center. He was born on January 2, 1925, in Prenter, W.Va., to the late Manuel Barcello Sr., and Lona Burk Barcello. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother James Barcelo and his former wife and friend Rosemary Barcello. Manuel served his country in the U.S. Navy, enlisting at the age of 17 in WWII and was called back into service again during the Korean War. He was employed by Houdaille Industries Inc., from 1948 until the plant ceased operations in 1980. He is survived by his sister Patty Amburgey of Murray, Ky.; his sons Robert A. Barcello of Kenova and G. Gregory (Elmira) Barcello of Prosser, Wash., and his daughter Carol Sue (Wm. Grady Sr.) Walter of Ashland, Ky. Also surviving are his grandchildren Grady Walter II, Dwight (Melissa) Walter, Brian Barcello, Hunter (Alaina) Barcello, Melissa (Brandon) Brown and Seth Barcello, and his three great-granddaughters, Casey Walter, Marley Walter and Bailey Brown and one great-grandson, Elijah Barcello. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2014, at the Ceredo-Kenova Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Byard officiating. Burial will follow at the Crescent Hill Cemetery in Ceredo. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until time of service. DR. LARRY B. CRAYCRAFT, 80, of Ashland, Ky., passed away Sunday, July 6, 2014, at Ashland Community Hospice. Larry was born June 4, 1934, in Kenova, W.Va., a son of the late Earl and Ethel Dyer Craycraft. He was a graduate of West Virginia University School of Pharmacy and School of Medicine. Larry served in the military as an Army Major in Vietnam, earning a Bronze Star. He was a founding member of the physicians group that started physician emergency room coverage at King's Daughters and St. Mary's hospitals. He had a family practice in Ashland, started the Industrial Medicine practice at KDMC and served as Vice-president of Medical Affairs at KDMC. Larry was a member of the Calvary Episcopal Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Kenneth Dale "Coach" Craycraft, Billy Earl Craycraft and Keith Craycraft. He is survived by his wife Rachel Zinn Craycraft of Ashland; one son, Keith Craycraft and his wife Lillian of Catlettsburg, Ky.; two daughters, Elizabeth Alexander and her husband Sam of Ashland, Ky., and Cecelia Rechner and her husband Dan of Charleston, S.C.; seven grandchildren, Zachary and Margaret Alexander, Justin Hemlepp, Tessa Gabbert, Danny Rechner, Lauren and Kelly Craycraft and five great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2014, at the Calvary Episcopal Church in Ashland, Ky., with Mtr. Antoinette Azar officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice, the Community Kitchen or to the charity of one's choice. Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova is assisting the Craycraft family with arrangements.

BRENDA JANE JOHNSON, 64, of Butler, Ohio passed away Sunday July 6, 2014 at the Joel Pomerene Memorial Hospital. Brenda was born Feb. 28, 1950 in Louisa, KY the daughter of the late Rev. Charles and Inez Webb Thompson. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Herby Johnson and son Gary Artrip Jr. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law Sandra and Claude Jervis of Butler, OH and Carissa and John fowler of Mansfield, OH; a son and daughter-in-law Charles and Donna Artrip of Mansfield, OH; three sisters Gladys White and Josephine Wilson both of Mansfield, OH and Leota Rowe of Huntington, WV and a brother Johnny Thompson of New Knoxville, OH; three grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Funeral services were conducted on Thursday July 10th at 1:00 pm at the Wilson funeral Home. Burial followed in the Thompson Family Cemetery at fort Gay, WV. friends called 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Wednesday July 9th at the Wilson funeral Home.

JAMES B. HUTCHINSON, 73, of Huntington, W.Va., passed away Monday, July 7, 2014, at the Huntington Health and Rehabilitation Center. Graveside services will be conducted 11:30 a.m. Thursday, July 10, 2014, at Dock's Creek Cemetery, Pastor Steve Willis officiating. James was born October 6, 1940, in Kenova, a son of the late Walter Berten and Anna Elizabeth Damron Hutchinson. He was a 1959 graduate of Buffalo High School and a graduate of the Huntington East Trade School. Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother Earl Roger Hutchinson. Survivors include two sisters, Alice Fay Pelfrey (Jim) of Dallas, Texas and Patricia Ann Bradley of Albuquerque, N.M.; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. DREAMA LUCILLE EPLIN HALLEY, 73, of Huntington, W.Va., died Monday, July 7, 2014. She was born February 22, 1941 in Huntington the daughter of the late Herman David and Olive Virginia Christian Burd. Dreama was preceded in death by her Husband Carl Raymond Eplin, a daughter Judy Gail Eplin, one grandson Morris David Byrd, Brothers, Charles, Paul, Odie, Foster, and JR, Sisters, Brenda, Betty, Doris, Sandy, Linda and Lilly. Dreama is survived by three daughters, Dreama L Norris of Lesage, Olive V Hughes of Huntington, and Charolette O Adkins of Ona, and one son Carl R Eplin II of Wayne. four sisters, Sharon Adkins, Tena Kirk, Sonja Burd and Brenda Wessel, six brothers, Michael, Homer, Aruther, Ronnie, Jason Burd and Bill Erwin. Step-mother Wanda Crommett and a very special niece, Billie M Smith,15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren and a host of friends and family to numerous to mention. Services will be conducted Friday July 11, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Johnson-Tiller Funeral Home, Wayne. DAVID LEE WALKER, 60, of Spring, TX, formerly of Wayne County died July 7, 2014 at Houston Northwest Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Morris funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Walker Cemetery, Genoa, WV. He was born February 21, 1954 in Huntington, WV, a son of the late Ercel and Frances Rachel Insco Walker. A brother, Dwight Daniel Walker also preceded him in death. Survivors include three sisters, Mary Goodrich, Elizabeth Blair and Teresa Walker; and one brother, Bill Walker all of Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. Saturday til service time at the funeral home.

AGNES M. DAVENPORT, 90, of Michigan, formerly of Ceredo, widow of Willis Davenport, died July 8, 2014. Funeral service will be noon Friday, Reger Funeral Chapel; burial will follow at Woodmere Memorial Park. Visitation two hours before service.

JAMES "JAMIE" ARBIE CASTEEL, 63, of Louisa, Ky., passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2014. He was born September 20, 1950, in West Hamlin, W.Va., a son of James Arthur and Nellie Marie Clay Casteel. Jamie was a member of Smith Chapel Church. He was preceded in death by grandparents Arbie and Elizabeth Casteel and Thomas Edgar and Sylvia Clay Merritt. Survivors include his loving parents James Arthur and Nellie Marie Casteel of Wayne, W.Va.; one son, Brian Casteel of Wayne, W.Va.; one daughter, Tammy Casteel Bryant of Fort Mitchell, Ky.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, July 11, 2014, at Smith Chapel Church with Tom Kitts and Mitch Brumfield officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. AGNES HAMMOND DAVENPORT, 90, of Ceredo, W.Va., left this world on July 8, 2014, at Saline Michigan Evangelical Home. By her side in death were her daughter, Sandra Davenport-Stapish, Sandra's husband Clair and their daughter Deanna Stapish-Stocker. Agnes also is survived by one son, Ralph James Davenport who resides in Florida with his wife Sally. Their sons are Danny of West Virginia and Dale of Florida. Agnes also has three great-grandchildren. Agnes was the daughter of the late Ranson and Lura Pack-Hammond. Agnes was preceded in death by her husband Willis Lawrence Davenport along with five sisters and four brothers. She has one surviving brother, Lowell Hammond from Warfield, Ky. Agnes will always be remembered for being a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. She was a very kind and giving person. Family and friends were her passion and delight. Funeral services will be held at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Rev. Rick Weber in Huntington, W.Va., Friday, July 11, 2014, at noon. Friends may visit from 10 a.m. to noon. BOBBIE LEE THOMPSON, 83, of Wayne, W.Va., passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2014. He was born September 30, 1930, a son of the late Emery and Sadie Workman Thompson. Bobbie was a retired foreman with F.A. Bartlett Tree Co., and proudly served as a member of the U.S. Air Force at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. Bobbie is survived by two sisters, Lou F. Webb of Wayne and Nell R. Napier of Rittman, Ohio; two brothers, Jay (Marlene) Thompson of Wayne, and Glen (Bertha) Thompson of Lavalette; a host of nieces, nephews, friends and family including a special friend Maxine Goodworth of Byrdtown, Tenn. The family would like to thank the Huntington VA Medical Staff including Nikki Rood and Judy Hale. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 12, 2014, at Johnson-Tiller Funeral Home, Wayne with Pastor Fred Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at the Smith Cemetery, Wayne. JULIA LOWE PERKINS RIGGS of Huntington went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 9, 2014. She was born January 22, 1925, in Ceredo to Blanche Freeman Lowe and Ray Lowe. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-years, James W. Perkins and her second husband, Lloyd Riggs. She is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Perkins Meredith (Benjamin); one granddaughter, Angela Meredith Booth (Reece), two great-grandchildren, Trey Cobb and Gabi Cobb. She was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Ceredo. Many thanks go to caregivers Jane Workman and Darlene Taylor. CLIFFORD DOUGLAS RUSSELL, 73, of Lakewood, CO, passed away in a vehicle accident on July 9, 2014. He was born on January 28, 1941 in Itmann, WV. He was the son of the late Audley and Susie Russell. As a child he lived in Kenova, WV before moving to Wayne, WV. He graduated from Wayne High School in 1958, being the Salutatorian of his class. He attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute (Virginia Tech). He was the only member of his high school class to attend university out of state. He received a BS degree in Physics from VA Tech, and later, Masters degrees from both Lynchburg College (Physics), Lynchburg, VA and the University of Virginia (Mechanical engineering), Charlotteville. Clifford was a retired engineer in nuclear reactor safety analysis with Babcock & Wilcox in Lynchburg, VA, where he resided from 1967 to 2012. He was an active member of North Bedford Baptist Church, including serving as deacon and Sunday School Director, and participated in numerous mission projects with the men of the church. He had a wide range of interests and hobbies, and was active in local conservative politics both in Virginia and Colorado. He is survived by his wife, Edith Williams Russell, originally from Packs Branch/Mount Hope, West Virginia. They were married for over 51 years. He is survived also by his daughters Diane Russell of Lakewood, CO, Deborah Wilder & son-in- aw Jeremy Wilder of Arvada, CO, his son Douglas Russell and daughter-in-law Laarni Russell of Louisville, KY, his granddaughters Meadow and Heather Wilder, and Leila and Lexie Russell. He is also survived by his sister, Maxine Lewis, of Kitts Hill, OH, and his brother, Daniel Russell, of Wayne, WV. He was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Russell. Services will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, Lakewood, CO, Thursday, July 17, with visitation at 12:00 Noon and service following at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Golden Cemetery, Golden, CO. PEGGY ANN DEMPSEY, 73, of Lavalette, W.Va., wife of Rev. James C. Dempsey, went to be with her Lord on Friday, July 11, 2014, from the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. She was born August 8, 1940, in Chesapeake, Ohio, a daughter of the late John and Ruby Amos Blair. Two sisters and four brothers have also preceded her in death. Peggy had worked formerly for Pharmor and H and L Green and was a homemaker and minister's wife. She was a member of the WV United Methodist Conference, and formerly an avid bowler. In addition to her husband, survivors include her daughter, Cindy Church of Caldwell, Ohio; a son, John Dempsey of Lavalette, W.Va.; granddaughter, Jo Ann Shaffer and husband, Jarod, of Dayton, Pa.; two great-granddaughters, Faith Ann Church and Weylin Shaffer; and two sisters, Dolly Blake of North Carolina, and Felma Webb and husband Claude Webb of Kenova. SAMUEL WILSON COCHENOUR SR., 100, of Wayne, passed away Friday, July 11, 2014 at his home. He was born March 17, 1914 in Piketon, Ohio, a son of the late John W. and Amelia Schwartz Cochenour. Sam was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Charity Walker Cochenour whom he was married to for 63 years; one grandson, Freddie Ferguson and one brother and four sisters. He retired from Union Concrete Company where he had worked as an equipment operator. Sam was a member of the Prichard Church of God in Prichard, W.Va. BRANDON LEE JACKSON, 15 of Ceredo, W.Va., passed away peacefully at home on Friday, July 11, 2014 surrounded by family. NICHOLAS ANDREW MCFANN, 21, of Huntington, WV passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2014 due to an auto accident. MILDRED LEA CAMPBELL KELLY, 94-year-old matriarch of the Campbell and Kelly clans of Mill Creek near Fort Gay, passed on to be with her loved ones in Heaven, Sunday, July 13, 2014, as her grandchildren sang to her, surrounded by more than 40 family members. Born March 28, 1920 and long-standing witness for Christ, she was a member of the Saltpetre Christian Baptist Church since 1950. Daughter of the late Sam and Elsie Meade Campbell, she was married to the late Grady Kelly for 60 years. "Nanny" is survived by children Dale (Christine) Kelly, Carole (Richard) Maynard, Rita (Keith) Spears, Roger (Lottie) Kelly, Rodney (Tammy) Kelly, Joe (Robin) Kelly and Jean Nash; a sister, Gladys Holt and brother Mack (Mickey) Campbell. She was preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law Colin and Frieda Kelley. Her globe-spanning family includes 25 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and a plethora of relations, all recognizing the wonderful loving care that was given by daughter-in-law Lottie Cyrus Kelly and her family during the past 2 years. Mildred retired from Wayne County Schools, where she cleaned and cooked for generations of learners at Ft. Gay and Thompson schools. A true servant-leader, she was a community inspiration through fruit basket drives, handicraft courses, Sunday and vacation bible schools as well as census-taking, WV Silver-Hair Legislature, election poll administration and 4-H Camp dietetics. Part of "The Greatest Generation", Mildred helped Grady build batteries for radios for home communications in the non-electrified mountains of West Virginia and Kentucky during WWII. With a good word for all and a warm greeting smile, Mildred was recognized by local and regional media as a "WSAZ-TV Home Town Hero" for her commitment and enlivened influence in her Appalachian hills. The family welcomes visitation at Saltpetre Christian Baptist Church 5 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, July 15, and one hour prior to the funeral services at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, with Rev. BETTY DELOIS MONEY SPRY, 81, of Kenova, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 16, 2014. Betty was born February 1, 1933, in Kenova, W.Va., a daughter of the late William Thomas and Bertha Wyatt Money. She spent many years as an educator for the Wayne County Board of Education. She was a teacher at Kenova Grade School, an Assistant Principal at Buffalo Elementary and a Principal at Ferndale Grade School. She was married to the late Leo "Tubby" Spry for 57 years and raised her family in the city she loved. Betty believed in being active in her hometown and was elected to her first term as Councilwoman in 1999 and served until 2003. She was re-elected in 2011 and was presently serving her second term as Councilwoman for the City of Kenova. Betty was a member of the Marcum Chapter #61 OES for more than 50 years. As faithful as she was to her family and community, she was also a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Kenova. LARK NAPIER JR., 83, of Interlachen, Fla., passed away Saturday, July 19, 2014, at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center following a brief illness. Mr. Napier was a native of Logan County, W.Va., and had been a resident of Interlachen for the past 27 years coming from Westerville, Ohio. He had retired from AT&T in 1987 as an engineer following 28 years of service. He was a member of the Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Interlachen and was a 32nd Degree member of the Melrose Masonic Lodge #89 F&AM Scottish Rite. He enjoyed Bible study, reading, woodworking, figuring out how things worked and was a good handyman. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Phyllis Napier; parents Lark and Opal Robertson Napier and a brother William "Bill" Napier. Surviving are a son Lark Napier III and wife Jolene of Rockledge, Fla.; a daughter, Rhonda Lynn Stuntebeck and husband Gregory of Westerville, Ohio; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronnie and Gloria Napier of Bush Prairie, Wash., and Albert and Jane Napier of Newark, Ohio; two sisters and brothers-in-laws, Elenor and Carroll Floyd of Proctorville, Ohio and Elizabeth and Ferrell Irby of Lavalette, W,Va.; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. FRANK WINTERS ENSLOW, 76, eldest son of Margaret and F. B. "Pete" Enslow, was born December 24, 1937, and died peacefully on July 23, 2014, in Huntington, W.Va. Mr. Enslow attended Christchurch School in Christchurch, Va., West Virginia University, and graduated from Ohio University. Upon graduation, he moved to New York City where he began a career in the publishing industry including the conception and launch of acclaimed magazine New York Scenes that was eventually bought by Rolling Stones Magazine. Later in life Mr. Enslow returned home to Huntington. He is survived by his sister, Julia Enslow Lord; his brother, Stephen Enslow and his sister-in-law, Marilyn Kopp Enslow along with their children and grandchildren. MICHAEL JEFFREY EDWARDS, 34, of Kenova, W.Va., passed away Thursday, July 24, 2014. He was born March 21, 1980, a son of Billy Lee Edwards of Ceredo, W.Va., and the late Gloria Jean Napier Edwards. He was a graduate of C-K High School and Marshall University. Jeff was employed by DIRECTTV as a change agent. Jeff loved his family. He liked spending time with his wife and kids and being involved in the activities they enjoyed. He was proud of his daughters, Ella and Emma and would take every opportunity to tell you all about them. He liked music and spent time each day playing his guitar. Jeff had a good heart and would offer to lend a hand whenever and wherever he could. He had a smile that could light up a room and was loved by many. He liked sports and played football for both C-K High School and Marshall University. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandfather Bill Edwards. Jeff is survived by his beloved wife Danielle Leigh Booth Edwards; the light of his life, his two daughters, Ella Grace and Emma Kate Edwards; a brother and sister-in-law William Brett and Amber Edwards and their children, Greyson and Georgie, all of Raleigh, N.C.; his grandmother Thelma Pratt Edwards of Ceredo, W.Va.; his sister-in-law Brittany Booth and her children Brae and Taliyah; his mother-in-law Terry Booth; his grandparents-in-law Harold "Had" and Frances Dale, all of Kenova; a special friend and advisor Rev. He leaves behind to mourn his loss his wife of 40 years, Dauretta Faye Lindquist, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services for this wonderful man will be conducted at the First Baptist Church of Ceredo on Monday, July 28, 2014 at 1 p.m. with Pastor Rodney Hale officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with burial to follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Barboursville. Mr. Lindquist honorably served his country during his career in the U.S. Army. He enlisted in April 1951 and retired in April 1972. During his Army career, he served in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was honored by the Secretary of the Army and was appointed Honorary Sargent Major of the 38th Infantry Regiment, aka "The Black Lions." He retired with multiple medals and awards, which included the Silver Star, the Bronze Star and several Presidential Army Commendation Medals. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Ceredo where he taught Sunday School. After church services were over, he would go for many years to the Ceredo Manor and have church with the residents there. He loved his church family and would do anything he could for anyone up until his very last days. His main goal in life was to serve the Lord and make Heaven his home. DONNA SUE BENNETT
, 65, passed away Friday, July 25, 2014, at Heritage Center in Huntington after a prolonged illness. She was born March 17, 1949, in Huntington, the daughter of Josa Belle (Booth) Bennett and the late Harold Bennett Sr. She is survived by her mother, Josa of Huntington; one brother, Harold (Mike) and wife, Pam Bennett; one nephew, Jonathan and wife, Ashley Bennett; as well as one niece, Amanda Bennett all of Ridgeley, W.Va.; along with many cousins she dearly loved. Donna was a member of Grace Gospel Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years. Family and friends will be received at Morris Funeral Home in Wayne from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday. The funeral will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Wayne. A special thank you to all who have helped Donna through the years. GROVER DALE “Sonny” HARRIS, 65, of Ironton, Oh., formerly of Huntington, W.Va., died Friday, July 25, 2014 at the VA Medical Center. He was born November 14, 1948 a son of the late Grover and Margaret Harris. His sister Arbutus Pardue also preceded him in death along with his son, Shay Allen Cassidy. Sonny was a graduate of Vinson High School, and also earned a B.A. in Business Management from Marshall University. After serving honorably in the U.S. Army, he returned to the Huntington area, and ultimately pursued his career in automobile sales. Sonny’s greatest love was that of animals. He will be missed by family and friends, as well as the staff of River’s Bend Health Care and Lawrence County Hospice. Graveside services were conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery, Northeast with military honors performed by VFW Post 93. HERSHEL THOMAS GRAHAM, 76, of Proctorville, Ohio passed away Thursday, July 31, 2014 at home. He was born November 10, 1937 in Tulsa, Okla., son of the late Robert and Florence Gilchrist. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mary Arlene Graham. He is survived by two sons Michael (Brenda) Graham of Proctorville, Ohio and Thomas (Mary Ellen) Rozell of Frankford, Delaware; three daughters Cynthia Chapman of Chesapeake, Ohio, Tammy Graham and Eric Thacker of Proctorville, Ohio and Betty Ann Wallace and Rodney Hohn of Pittsburgh, Pa.; three brothers; 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren; and numerous family and friends. He retired from Superior Marine, South Point, Ohio. Funeral service will be conducted 12 p.m. Monday, August 4, 2014 at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio by Pastor Don Irby. JEANNINE KAY PERRY, 57, of Kenova WV formerly of Proctorville, Ohio entered into her final rest on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at home. She was welcomed with open arms in the Lord Section 0s house by her parents Argyle and Gwendolyn Wooten Walker; her sister Mary Anne Walker; and her brother Chuck Walker. She sadly left behind her husband of 36 years Allen; a son Nathan (Leann) of Proctorville, Ohio; a daughter Erica (Richie) of Kenova, WV; four granddaughters; two grandsons; sister-in-law Nancy of Ashland, Ky; two very special other children Grant and Heather; as well as many other friends. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, August 3, 2014 at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio by Pastor Jay Love. MILLARD MAYNARD, 72, of Dunlow, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 31, 2014. He was born July 17, 1942 at Crum, W.Va., a son of the late Raymond and Josephine Maynard. Also preceding him in death were five brothers, Jesse Maynard, Jr., Tracy Maynard, Otis Maynard, Larry Maynard, and William Maynard; and three sisters, Nellie Faye Watts, Margaret Maynard, and Lilly Maynard. Buck was a Pastor of Macedonia Baptist Church. He leaves behind his loving wife of 45 years, Mary Lou Maynard; one daughter, Peggy Fletcher and her husband John of Genoa, W.Va.; one son, Richard Maynard of Dunlow; two granddaughters, Maryanne Maynard and Bethany Fletcher; two grandsons, Johnathon Fletcher and Brandon Fletcher; and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother, Lacy Maynard of Ft. Gay, W.Va.; five sisters, Georgia Dingess, Barbara Hickman, Linda Alexander, Schreda Shupe, and Sally Maynard; and a host of church family, family, friends and neighbors too numerous to mention. JUDITH FRANCES PETERS PHILLIPS, 78, of Barboursville, W.Va., passed away Thursday, July 31, 2014, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, W.Va. She was born June 5, 1936, in Kenova, W.Va., the daughter of the late Francis and Evelyn Clarkson Peters. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one brother, James Marvin Peters. She was a graduate of Ceredo-Kenova High School, formerly employed at George's Cleaners in Barboursville and was an expert seamstress during her lifetime who was also very skilled at crafts. She is survived by her husband Robert Phillips of Barboursville, W.Va.; her children LeeAnn Massey (Henry) of Pollock, La., Aaron Scott Phillips of Athens, Ga., Deanea Pettie (Jim) of Highpoint, N.C., Rhonda Gittis (Steven) of Greensboro, N.C.; nine grandchildren, Kelly Griggs, Stephany Nolen, Andrew and Grant Phillips, Sam, Natalie and Phoebe Gittis, Kyndall and Jillian Pettie; five great-grandchildren. Judith leaves behind more friends than can be counted. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug 2, 2014, at Henson & Kitchen Mortuary, Huntington, W.Va., near Barboursville.
