Services for LLOYD MURPHY JR., of Gainesville, Fla., formerly of Kenova will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014 at Spring Valley Memory Gardens, Huntington.
PAUL DORSEY FRAZIER, 84, of Leesburg, Fl (formerly of Kenova, WV) went to be with the Lord on August 1, 2014. Born August 13, 1929, in Kenova, WV., the son of the late Paul Gratna Frazier and Louise Rosalie (Dorsey) Frazier Cox. Also preceded in death was his sister, Helen Louise (Frazier) Napier. Survivors include his wife, Lou Ellen (Billups) Frazier formerly of Ceredo, WV, 2 sons, David Michael (Lynne Williams) Frazier, of Leesburg,Fl and John Paul (Debbie Austin) Frazier of Texas; 4 grandchildren, William David Frazier, Ellen McKenzie (Frazier) Miller, John Robert Frazier, and Michael Austin; 6 great grandchildren; two sister-in-laws, Ruth Helen (Billups) Plymale of Ceredo, WV and Roma Gail (Hatten) Billups of Ceredo, WV; two brother-in-laws, John Jewel Billups of Ceredo, WV and Donald Lee Napier of Leesburg, Fl; 3 Nieces, Leigh Ann (Napier) Pierce of Fruitland Park, Fl, Mindy Ann (Plymale) Napier of Orlando, Fl, and Julie Elsie (Plymale) Adkins of Ceredo, WV, 4 Nephews, Michael Lee Napier of Birmingham, Al, John Jewel Billups III of Kentucky, Michael Lee Billups & James David Billups both of Kenova, WV. Several great nieces and great nephews. A memorial was held on August 16, 2014 at First Baptist Church. He was cremated.
BRENDA KAY NAPIER, 53, of Prichard, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 1, 2014, at Hospice of Huntington, Huntington. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 5, 2014, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jerry Matt officiating. Burial will follow at Sam Damron Cemetery, Dunlow, W.Va. She was born on September 1, 1960, in Huntington, to Darrell Damron of Prichard, W.Va., and the late Catherine Mathis Damron. In addition to her father, she is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Bobby Napier; daughter, Sherry Hall and husband Brian; son, Matthew Napier, all of Prichard, W.Va.; four brothers, Willis Ray and Randy Damron both of Prichard, W.Va., Elmer Damron and wife Brenda of Kenova and Thelmer Damron of Huntington. Brenda is also survived by a special granddaughter, Lynzie Napier, with whom she made her home; four additional grandchildren, Camryn Hall, Brittany Seals, Whitney Hall and Bailey Hall; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. DR. JOSEPH ELMON BILLUPS, DDS, 83, of Kenova, died Friday, August 1, 2014, at Rivers Bend Health Care in South Point, Ohio. Joe was born June 6, 1931, in Louisa, Ky., a son of the late Okla H. and Elizabeth Austin Billups. He was a U.S. Army veteran, and members of American Legion Post #93 Kenova Honor Guard will conduct graveside rites. Joe was involved in his community and served on the C-K Chamber of Commerce where he was a past president; he was on the board of directors for the Ceredo-Kenova Credit Association and the Kenova Police Civil Service Commission. He was a self-employed dentist in Kenova for 40 years. Professionally he was a member of the American Dental Association and the W.Va. Dental Society with a 25 year Certificate of Distinction. Joe was a Kentucky Colonel; a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity; and a member of the C-K Alumni Band. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kenova. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by one sister, Loraine Casto; her husband, Keith Casto; and a nephew, Charles Keith Casto. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Beverly Knight Billups; two beloved daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly C. and Kenneth R. Marcum of Huntington, W.Va., and Lee Ann and Dennis E. Blevins of Kenova, W.Va.; two granddaughters and one grandson-in-law, Leslee E. and Jeremy Martin and Katelyn Chaffin; three step-grandchildren, Rina and Dr. Andrew Foy, MD; Kara and Dr. Samuel Litteral, DPT; and Kenneth R. Marcum II; 13 great-grandchildren; one nephew, David Casto; and two sisters-in-laws, Clara Knight of Milton, W.Va. and Betty Jo Knight of Ravenswood, W.Va. The family would like to thank the staff of the VA Medical Center, Rivers Bend Health Care, Hospice of Huntington, Right at Home and Preferred Health for their kindness and care of Joe and the family. RAYMOND L. TROGDLON, 75, of 2100 Celina Road, Saint Marys, Ohio, died 10:47 P.M. Friday, August 1, 2014, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, Saint Marys. He was born June 1, 1939, in Wayne County, West Virginia, the son of Lafe and Louary (LeMaster) Trogdlon. He married Altie "A. J." Renfro and she preceded him in death; he was also preceded in death by his wife, Karen Maynard. He is survived by two daughters: Kimberly (Scottie) Marcum of Fort Gay, West Virginia; Kristi (Mark) Cavins of Louisa, Kentucky; by three grandchildren: Joshua Trogdlon, Adam Cavins and Kassidi Cavins; by a step-grandson, Michael Tuttle. He is survived by his siblings: Willa Skeens of Saint Marys; James Frank (Rhoda) Trogdlon of Saint Marys; Sam (Connie) Trogdlon of Saint Marys; Nancy (Dale) Salisbury of Saint Marys; Glen (Jan) Trogdlon of Spencerville. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, both wives; and two children: Dwayne Trogdlon and Ronda Gaynale Trogdlon. He retired from Omni Source Corporation in Saint Marys. He was a member of the NRA and loved hunting and fishing. Funeral rites will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 6, 2014, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, Ohio, the Reverend Charles Richtmyer, officiant. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, Saint Marys. GIDEON BLOCK, 72, of Kiahsville, W.Va., died Sunday, August 3, 2014 at the residence of his favorite niece, Elizabeth Johnson, where he made his home. He was born June 10, 1942 at Kermit, W.Va., a son of the late Lafe and Elizabeth Vance Block. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Liz Charles, and Handy Burchfield; and four brothers, George Block, Mosey Block, Charley Block, and John Block. Gideon was a Vietnam veteran serving in the United States Army. He is survived by his wife Charlene of Cleveland, Oh.; three sons, Darel Dotson of Maine, Eddie Brammer and his wife Renee of Spurlocksville, W.Va., and Jeff Block of Cleveland; one daughter, Rachel Sizemore and her husband Steve of Cleveland, Oh.; and seven grandchildren, Darel Dotson, Jr., Alexis Dotson, both of Maine, Charles Sizemore, Christopher Sizemore, Steven Sizemore, Theodore Sizemore, and special granddaughter, Britney Sizemore, all of Cleveland. Also surviving is two sisters, Martha Block of Inez, Ky., and Jessie Finley and her husband George of Branchland, W.Va.; three brothers, Lafe Block and his wife Dora Lou, Robert Block, all of Branchland, and Jack Block of Crum, W.Va.; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Jenny’s Creek Church, with Brother A. J. Block and Brother Ray Messer officiating. NANCY CATHERINE McCOY, 80, of Kiahsville, WV, died Sunday, August 3, 2014 at her residence. Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 pm Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Freedom Freewill Baptist Church in Kiahsville. Burial will follow at Adkins Cemetery. She was born April 30, 1934 in Wayne County, WV, a daughter of the late Jim Caldwell and Dora Adkins Dalton. Nancy was a homemaker. A brother, John Dalton also preceded her in death. Survivors include five daughters, Georgia Mabry of Kiahsville, WV, Betty Sue Williamson and husband, Otho of East Lynn, WV, Ada Fay Adkins, Polly Ann Dingess, Norma Leigh Maynard all of West Hamlin, WV; five brothers, Earl Ray McCoy and wife, Julie of Kiahsville, WV, Junior McCoy, Charles Howard McCoy both of Kiahsville, WV, Larry Dale McCoy of Ranger, WV, Carl Gene McCoy of Kiahsville, WV; three sisters, Martha Jane Napier of Kiahsville, Maggie Queen, Angeline Sias and husband, Fred all of Ranger, WV; three brothers, Ed Dalton and Willis Dalton of Wayne, WV, Charlie Dalton of Kiahsville; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. BERFORD (Buzz) CARROLL BARTRAM, 78, passed away at home on the morning of Sunday, August 3, 2014. Born in Fort Gay, West Virginia on December 2, 1935, he was the son of the late Drexel and Ethel Bartram. Buzz is survived by his wife of nearly 58 years, Shelba Jean (Aldridge) Bartram; a son, Jeffrey Carroll Bartram and wife Jacqueline; a daughter, Jean Elaine (Bartram) Tressler and husband Steve, all of Oakland, MD; three grandchildren, Eric Paul Tressler, Oakland; Nicole Elaine Tressler, Arlington, VA; and Frank Carroll Bartram, Oakland. He is also survived by one sister, Irene Rauscher, Orlando, FL; two brothers, Larry Bartram, Piedmont, OK; and Ronnie Joe Bartram, Orlando, FL; as well as cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Buzz was retired and had formerly worked as an electronics technician and truck driver. He served in the United States Air Force. He has donated his body to the State Anatomy Board of Maryland. ROY B. JONES, 76, of Ashland, Ky., died Monday, August 4, 2014, at Woodland Oaks Health Care in Ashland. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, August 7, 2014, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel by Emory Osburn, Charlie O. Adkins and Frank Taylor Jr. Burial will follow at Pres-Friley Cemetery, Cove Gap, W.Va. He was born December 20, 1937 in Cove Gap, W.Va., a son of the late Lucian and Farabelle Ramey Jones. Roy was retired from American Car and was a member of the Lavalette Baptist Church. Also preceding him in death was a sister Dora Alice Adkins and a brother Sammy Jones. Survivors include three daughters, Beverly Ann Clay of Salt Rock, W.Va., Kathy Thorner and husband William of Ashland, Ky., Jamie Duncan and husband Mark of South Point, Ohio; a son Jimmie Earls of Denver, Colorado; three sisters, Bessie Ellen Combs and husband Frank of Wayne, W.Va., Marjorie Belle Scites of Huntington, W.Va., Delcie Napier and husband Clayton of Lavalette, W.Va.; a brother James Jones of Ashland, Ky.; four grandchildren, Leslie Crockett, Patrick Crockett, Camille Thorner and Chloe Thorner, and his beloved friend Bob Pelfrey. VINCENT SCOTT PORTER, 45, of Huntington, son of Carolyn Wheeler, died Aug. 5, 2014, in Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington. He was a painter. VERNON MICHAEL STEVENS, 34, of Wayne, WV passed away on August 5, 2014. He was born on September 28, 1979 in Huntington, WV; a son of David Stevens and Hope Lynndel (Shannon) Stevens. He leaves behind to mourn his loss his parents, his brother Travis David Stevens (Tara) and his sister Carrie Alela Adkins (Dusty) and his son, Timothy David Lee Stevens, who was the light of his life. Also surviving are his nieces and nephews Bridget, Raelyn, Tyler, Alela, Mason and Harlie; his aunts, uncles, cousins and many other relatives and friends. The family will have a Celebration of Life service at the Kenova Church of Christ on Sunday, August 10, 2014 at 2 PM. BILLY HOWARD COPLEY, 78, of Louisa, KY, passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, KY. He was born April 25, 1936 in Chatteroy, WV, a son of the late William Thomas and Roberta Maynard Copley. Bill was a retired manager of Kentucky Finance Co, a member of First United Methodist Church. Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, August 8, 2014 at Young Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ray Payne officiating. Burial followed at Greenlawn Cemetery. A Masonic service was at 7:00 PM Thursday at Young Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation was from 6:00 until 9:00 PM Thursday at Young Funeral Home Chapel.
RONALD DEAN YOUNG, 55, of Wayne, WV, passed away Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, WV. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, WV with Pastor Randy Osburn officiating. Burial will follow at the Peaceful Ridge Cemetery at Lavalette, WV. He was born June 17, 1959 at Charlotte, NC, a son of Ronald Henry Young (Rosa) of Etheridge, NC and the late Mary Frances Caddell Young. He was a former employee of CB&H Parts and was a retired self-employed carpenter and plumber and served in the United States Marine Corps. His step-daughter, Melissa Patterson, also preceded him in death. Additional survivors include his wife, Pamela Gale Welker Young; a step-daughter, Lisa Patterson of Huntington, WV; a sister, Rhonda Allen (Ron) of Charlotte, NC; a brother, Donald Young (Tammy) of Edgemore, SC; 8 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, and 3 great-granddaughters. VERA ELAINE SMITH, 87, of Huntington, W.Va., went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, August 6, 2014, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 9, at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Pastor Steve Willis. Burial will follow in Mays Cemetery, Lavalette, W.Va. Vera was born January 24, 1927, in Big Rapids, Mich., a daughter of the late Harry and Mary Ann Foos Stephenson. She was a retired secretary in the maintenance department at Cabell Huntington Hospital. She was a firm believer in Jesus Christ, a member of First Baptist Church of Kenova and a volunteer for Cabell Huntington Hospital and St. Mary's Medical Center. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Ronnie Lee Lucas and Jackie Roger Lucas and one sister, Laurie Fluharty. She is survived by one son, Larry Lucas and daughter-in-law Leslie of Huntington; four daughters, Cheryl Voorhis of Tennessee, Patricia Hardesty and son-in-law Phil of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Bonnie Brearden and son-in-law Dale of Oklahoma and Brenda Sweeney and son-in-law Michael of Huntington. Fourteen grandchildren survive as well, Adam, Kimberly, Tracie, Jimmy, Donnie, Joey, Joshua, April, Kristen, Justin, Amanda, Jason, Brandon and Kyla; 17 great-grandchildren, Kaitlin, Avery, Cheyenne, Ciara, Dakota, Jacob, Ashley, Savanna, Jesse, Hunter, Jack, Derrick, Kenyon, Kaelin, Jenna, Sydney, Brady and two great-great-granddaughters, Cara and Emma Turner. She was born on November 25, 1933 in Kistler, WV, a daughter of the late Clyde c. and Ethel Rae Nicely. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by half-siblings Russell Perry and Marion Dials Swann and siblings Robert Nicely and Edith Ann Burke and son-in-law Joe Woolwine. She is survived by her daughter, Debra Lynn Woolwine of Huntington, grandsons, Andrew Joseph Woolwine of Morgantown, WV and Tyler Emory Woolwine of Huntington, brothers, Jerry Nicely (Pat) of Naples, FL; Clyde Nicely (Pam) of Huntington, sisters, Judy Lewis (Eddie) of Proctorville, OH, Betty Swann (Jeff) and Jean Frredrick (Mike) both of Huntington. Mrs. Lusk was a member of Westmoreland United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Rev. Tom Nolen. She will be buried in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until service time at 4:00 p.m. Sunday. There will be no procession to the cemetery. LINDA SUE CREED, 70, of East Lynn, W.Va., passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2014, at St. Mary's Medical Center, Huntington. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 12, 2014, at Morris Funeral Chapel with Elder Charlie Lucas Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Asbury Cemetery, East Lynn. She was born April 9, 1944, to the late Paul Sidney Peters and Leola Mae Deaver Peters. Linda was a distribution clerk for the United States Postal Service and was a member of Salem United Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by sisters, Ellen Jane, Annette and Jeanette, and a brother, David Lynn. Surviving is her loving husband of 51 years, Ralph Edward Creed Sr.; daughter, Paula Sue Kushner (Noah) of Huntington; two sons, John Creed (Tawana) and Ralph Edward Creed Jr. and companion Stephanie Johnston along with her daughter Mady, all of East Lynn; and her sister, Sandra Paul of Louisiana. Linda is also survived by her ten grandchildren, Joseph Dorsey (JoAnne), Kathryn Stafford (Matthew), Sarah Miller (Zack), Jared and Hannah Kushner, John Creed III, Kelton Creed, Jonathon Creed, Rebecca Creed and Caitlynn Creed; and two great grandchildren, Makennlei and Kambel Dorsey and one on the way, Hunter Stafford. DELSA SIMPKINS LANGHURST, 97, of Wayne, died Saturday, August 9, 2014, at Wayne Nursing and Rehabilitation Center where she had lived for several years. She was born January 22, 1917, at East Lynn, W.Va., a daughter of the late William Henry and Annie Mary Sanders Simpkins. Her husband, Jimmy Murray, and their infant daughter, Anna Louise, and her husband, Larry Langhurst, also preceded her in death, along with her sisters, Ona Bell Simpkins Perry, Ernestine Conrad McLaughlin, and Ernie Lee Simpkins, and brothers, Oscar Taylor, Henry Burgess, and Noah Milton Simpkins. Delsa was a lifelong member of the Wolf Pen Church of Christ, East Lynn. Surviving Delsa is her sister, Ella Mae Johnson of Wayne, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 12, 2014, at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Lycans officiating. Burial will follow in the Sanders Cemetery, East Lynn, with her nephews serving as pallbearers. Friends may call after 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. WILLARD LEE EDWARDS, 90, of Huntington, passed away August 9, 2014. He was born January 19, 1924, in Red Jacket, W.Va., a son of the late Charles E. Edwards and Arbutus Cyrus Edwards. He was a US Army Veteran serving in World War II, an Auxiliary Policeman, a member of the American Legion, V.F.W., and the Purple Heart Society. He attended Sunshine Baptist Church and was a member of Ceredo Christian Baptist Church. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Edwards; granddaughters, Grace Brooks, Tessa Edwards and Kimberly Brooks; son-in-law, Clifton Brooks; and several brothers and sisters. He is survived by one daughter, Judy Brooks of Barboursville; one son and daughter-in-law, David and Valanie Edwards of Prichard, W.Va.; two sisters, Eleanor Caperton and Betty Pratt both of Ohio; one brother, Charles "Bernie" Edwards of Ky.; five grandchildren, Greg and Lori Brooks of Ohio, Tracy Brooks of Va., Timothy Brooks of Barboursville, Kelli and Bryan Webb of Prichard, W.Va., and Jeffrey Edwards of Prichard, W.Va.; three great grandchildren, Katie Webb, Samuel Webb and Austin Brooks, and many other family members. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel with Preacher Doug Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Wayne with graveside rites conducted by American Legion Post 93, Kenova. He was born on November 9, 1946 in Dock, Kentucky to the late Sam and Polly Ousley Hughes. Harold was a Master Sergeant for the United States Army, having served over twenty years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Curtis Hughes. JOHN E. SPENCE, Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Shoals, W.Va., born October 16, 1942, passed suddenly in Columbus, Ohio, on August 10, 2014. John served proudly in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1964. He retired from ARMCO with 20 years of service. He also worked and retired from Tonopah Test Site in 2005. John was an avid lover of classic country music and an accomplished guitarist and lifetime NRA member. WV., and reared on the Mayo ancestral farm at Sherwood Drive, Spring Valley Road, Wayne Co. WV. "Freda" was a great-great-granddaughter of James Glenn Mayo, a war of 1812 veteran, who settled here from the James River, Fluvanna Co., Va. Her Mayo lineage derives from Valentine Mayo of the Middlesex colony in Virginia. A daughter of the late Charles E. Mayo and Alva Fairchild Mayo, she was preceded in death by husbands James Newton and Robert Lowe; a son Ricky Newton; brothers Eugene Mayo, Shelby Mayo, Ronald Mayo and a sister Mary Keessee. She is survived by her fiance Archie Meadows; sons James Newton Jr., Timothy Newton, Virgil Newton; daughters Tina Prout and Freda Dillon; grandchildren Jimmy Newton, Matthew Newton, Amanda Newton, Tiffany Newton, Robert Scott Pinson, Cynthia Prout, Branden Newton, Melisa Newton, Christopher Newton, Elizabeth Adkins, Stephen Clyle Dillon, Jonathan M. EUNICE JONES KIRWIN, formerly of East Lynn, passed away on Friday, August 15, 2014 of natural causes at the age of 91. Born and raised in Wayne County, West Virginia, she was the fifth of eleven children. After graduating from Wayne High School, Eunice attended Berea College in Kentucky. She helped with the war effort as a real-life "Rosie the riveter," assembling B-24 Liberator bombers in Ypsilanti, Michigan, then worked as a laboratory technician at the government’s research facility in Oak ridge, Tennessee. After moving to New Orleans and starting a family, she sold real estate on the West Bank for many years. She was a parishioner of St. Philip’s episcopal Church and a resident of Algiers for 54 years before moving to the Houston area in 2010. Eunice enjoyed being around her family, especially her grandchildren, keeping up with the scattered extended family, staying active in church, and watching Jeopardy. Eunice was born December 19, 1922 in east Lynn, WV, a daughter of the late Mary Pearl Stanley Jones and William Edward Jones. Preceding her in death was her beloved husband of 46 years, Thomas Merrin Kirwin. Also preceding her in death were four sisters, Ruth Pearlman, Ruby Tygrett, Margaret Goldwater and Martha Ann Nolan; four brothers Gayle, Sheldon, Lucian M. and Billy James Jones. She is survived by her children, Michael Kirwin (Lisa), Valerie fennel (Wade), and elaine Tumy (Jim); her grandchildren, Sean Fennel, Kelly Killeen (Nick), Rachel Tumy, Kristen fennel, Shannon Tumy, Kyle fennel, Lyles Kirwin, Jack Tumy, and Lauren Fennel; and her great-grandchildren, Tara and Tristan Killeen. She is also survived by a brother, Stanley Jones (Lizzie), a sister-in-law, Evelyn Rudolph, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, 3643 Aurora Drive, Algiers, LA 70131 on Saturday, September 6, at 10:00 am. SGM W.R. "RONNIE" WALLS, 76, of Wayne, passed away Monday, August 18, 2014 at Cabell-Huntington Hospital. Burial will follow at Community Memorial Gardens at Wayne. He was born February 10, 1938 at Accoville, W.Va., a son of the late Wanice N. and Myrtle Napier Walls. He retired as a Sergeant Major from the U.S. Army after 42 years of service including duty in Vietnam from 1966 to 1972. He was also a former electrician at New York Medical College, as well as a coal mine foreman. Four brothers, Wayne, Johnny, Donald and Wandel Walls also preceded him in death. MACK CLARKSON JARRELL, DPM, of Ceredo, died at St. Mary's Medical Center on Monday, August 18, 2014. Dr. Mack Jarrell or "Doc" as his friends called him, was born on April 11, 1926 in Ceredo. He attended Ceredo-Kenova High School until he graduated early to join the navy as a cadet at the University of VA Richmond where he played football. He was a US Navy veteran of the Pacific Theater in WWII and then during the Korean Conflict. He was an alumnus of the University of VA, Marshall University, the Chicago College of Podiatric Medicine and The Ohio State University. While practicing as a Podiatrist, he taught school at South Point High School. As a young man, he served on Ceredo City Council. He retired from South Point High School when he was elected to the WV Senate where he served as the Democratic Majority Whip from his retirement until 1988. He was a Past State Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Department of WV and was an All American Commander during his year. He was also a member of the DAV, a Life Member of the American Legions Post #93 Kenova, whose Honor Guard will conduct graveside rites, VFW Post 1064, BPO Elks 313, a Kentucky Colonel and an Admiral in the Cherry River Navy. Mack was a member of the Beni Kedem Shrine Legion of Honor, the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Huntington, Huntington Comandry #9, Huntington Chapter of Royal Arch Masons #6 and Crescent Lodge #32, whose members will perform graveside rites. He was preceded in death by his parents, McClellan and Gladys Jarrell and one sister, Ramona Rowe. He is survived by his wife, Betty Joan Jarrell; three sons and their families, Shawn and Rosanne Griffith and their son, Jason; Don and Missy Jarrell and their daughters, Cayman and Laken; Andy Jarrell and his daughter, Olivia; Dr. Eugenia M. Melissa was lucky to have a large and loving family which included her Aunt Doris Chaffins of Falls View, Aunt Helen Perdue of Kenova and special cousins, Robin Thomas of Huntington, Linda Perdue of Raleigh, NC and Margaret Hellmick of Columbia, SC who were there to support her in her illness. GEORGE ANTHONY WILSON, 46, of Huntington, passed away on Aug. 25, 2014 at his residence. He was born in Ashland on Oct. 6, 1967; a son of George Scott Wilson and Eva Gail Hutchinson Wilson. He was an automotive mechanic by trade and an avid Hot Rod enthusiast. He was preceded in death by his father George and one brother Raymond Bert Wilson. He leaves behind to mourn his loss his beloved wife Bobbi Sue Berry Wilson, his mother Eva, his brother Dallas Scott Wilson, his daughter Sheridan Martinalee Templeton and a host of other relatives and friends. GLEN DOUGLAS MARCUM, 59, of Dunlow, W.Va., a loving husband, daddy and best friend passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. He was born August 24, 1955 in Dunlow, WV, a son of the late Roy Lee and Carrie Maynard Marcum. Glen was a blaster for Penn Coal. Also preceding him in death were two sisters, Sally Wallace and Lorene Meddings; and four brothers, Billy Maynard, Tommy Finley, Eddie Finley and Albert Finley. ANDREW THOMAS PERRY, 69, of Chesapeake, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at his residence. Burial will follow at Community Memorial Gardens, Wayne. He was born October 5, 1944 in Wayne County, a son of the late Lucian and Georgia Maynard Perry. He was a retired worker for IBEW 317 of Huntington and was a U.S. Army veteran. A sister, Ethel Napier, and three brothers, Donald, Fisher, and Jim Gary Perry also preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Sue Kitts Perry; daughters Francis, Sandra and Michelle; son James Allen; sisters Vella Hale and Betty Inman; and brother, Lark Perry; grandchildren Justin, Amy Andi and Sydney; and great-grandchildren, Adara, Emma, Breanna, Morgan and Macy. LOIS DEAN HATFIELD, 79, of Oregon, Ohio, formerly of Kenova, passed away August 30, 2014 at Parkcliffe Communities in Northwood, Ohio. Lois was born October 1, 1934 in Kenova. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Hazel Dean; a granddaughter, Kendra Shay; a sister Mary Lou Miller and a brother, Charles Dean. She retired from the First National Bank of Kenova where she had worked for many years as a teller. Lois was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cannonsburg where she also sang in the choir and worked in many Vacation Bible Schools. She is survived by her husband, Fred Hatfield of Oregon, Ohio; a daughter, Karen Hatfield Elswick of Lawrenceburg, Ky.; a son, Timothy Fredrick Hatfield of Holland, Ohio; three grandchildren, Matthew Ryan Elswick, Marcus David Elswick and Kyle Fredrick Hatfield; a great-granddaughter, Kenley Shay; four sisters, Pansy Crossen, Minnie Tice, Linda Bonecutter and Connie Jolley and three brothers, Dennis Dean, Howard Dean and Jerry Dean.
