Our loving Mother, VIOLET MARIE HYSELL, 84, of Ona, WV, passed away Monday, June 1, 2015, at Genesis in Teays Valley; having been born July 1, 1930 in Ona, the eldest child of Wilburn "Hank" Bowen and Zena Eloise Thompson and was preceded in death by our Daddy, Percy B. Hysell, Jr. in 1990 and two brothers Garrett and Charles Bowen. Surviving are her daughters, Anita Sutphin (Oley) of Hurricane and Joyce Blake (Danny) of Ona and was "Granny Violet" to four grandchildren and four great grandchildren: Kimberly Mays and son Jacob of Hurricane, Brian Sutphin of Florida, Andrew Blake (Kathleen), daughters Elizabeth and the future Sydney Grace of Huntington, Melissa Blake-Smith (Bradley) daughter Kristin Rose and son Christopher Matthew of Ona along with sisters, Ester Blake of Ona, Christine Maynard of Chesapeake and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mother worked as a medical clerk for 35 years; retired and enjoyed genealogy research for the next 25; was a member of the Barboursville Chapter NSDAR having served as Registrar, Regent, and Honorary Regent; was a member of the V.F.W Post 9738 Ladies Auxiliary. Mother's visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville. Services will be conducted at 11:00 am Friday, June 5, 2015 at the White Chapel Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with Pastor Carl Merritt officiating.

AMBER LE TACKETT, 18, of Lavalette, W.Va., went to dance with the Angels on Monday, June 1, 2015. Born March 18, 1997, in Huntington, W.Va., she was a 2015 graduate of Wayne High School and a member of Dock's Creek Missionary Baptist Church. Amber was preceded in death by her uncle Mike Ward; one cousin, Ricky Parsons; and Mike Blevins, who was like a papaw to her. Left to cherish her memory are her loving parents Bruce and Cathy Tackett; one brother, Alan Tackett and his wife Elizabeth of Lavalette; two nephews, Brayden and Davey; maternal grandparents Lucille and Otis Parsons of Kenova, W.Va.; paternal grandparents Mona Tackett of Lavalette, and Ralph Tackett of Harts, W.Va.; and aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends too numerous to mention. Funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2015, at the Dock's Creek Missionary Baptist Church with Brother Denny Brown officiating. BRAXTON RAY SCARBERRY, 6 weeks old of Genoa, WV, passed away Monday June 1, 2015 at his residence. funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Genoa United Baptist Church by Brother Danny Stapleton and Brother Danny endicott. Burial will follow at Wilson Cemetery, Genoa, WV. He was born April 15, 2015 in Huntington, WV, a son of Dallas ray Scarberry and Colleen Lasha Williams Wilks. Additional survivors include two sisters, Olivia Scarberry and Chloe Wilks; a brother, Blake Scarberry; his grandparents, Danny and Norma Scarberry and Crystal Caldwell; great grandmothers, Julia elizabeth Wilson and Millie Vaughan; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. friends called after 6:00 pm friday at the Genoa United Baptist Church. SHIRLEY ANN STEPHENS, 76, of Wayne, widow of Norman Stephens, died June 1, 2015, in Cabell Huntington Hospital. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday, Johnson Tiller Funeral Home, Wayne. Visitation two hours before service.

Today our lives have changed. We have lost our loving mother who went home to be with the Lord. SHIRLEY ANN STEPHENS, 76, of Wayne, W.Va., passed away Monday, June 1, 2015 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. She was born January 2, 1939 in Crofton, Ky., a daughter of the late Earl and Mina Corriveau. Her husband, Norman Lee Stephens also preceded her in death along with one daughter, Deborah Yvonne Stephens; one son, Norman Junior Stephens; one son-inlaw, Raymond Glenn Holmes; one granddaughter, Brittany Holmes- Adkins; great grandchildren Jeremiah Stephens and Troy Stephens; and in-laws, Carl and Flossie Stephens, Dorothy and Glenn Stephens, Virginia Mitchell, Cathlean Hale, and James Stephens. Shirley was a homemaker and a member of Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, who opened her heart and home to all. She leaves behind two sons, Steve Andrew Stephens and his wife Marilyn of Wayne, and Terry Lynn Stephens and his wife Christina of East Lynn, W.Va.; three daughters, Brenda Sherry Stephens, Lori Ann Holmes and Kelly Christine Stephens Whitt and her husband Johnny, all of Wayne; 13 grandchildren, Shawnace Booth (Lonnie Rice) of Huntington, Elizabeth Jones (David) of Taylor, Mich., Deborah Rice (John), Stephanie Adkins (Adam), Jeremy Holmes (Stephanie Tomblin), Rachel Stephens, all of Wayne, Ashley Goodman (David) of Bellville, Mich., Andrew Stephens (Holly) also of Bellville, Alisha Stephens, Tyler Stephens (Alyssa) all of East Lynn, Douglas Stephens of Ashland, Ky., James Stephens, and Joshua Gable, both of Wayne; 23 great grandchildren, Bradley Booth, James Porter, Hannah Jones, Grant Jones, Griffin Jones, Nathan Beller, Ethan Beller, MaKayla Rice, Kiera Rice, Aaron Rice, Landon Adkins, Ella Adkins, Jacob Stephens, Jasmine Stephens, Jaxton Stephens, Alexis Stephens, Addison Stephens, Fallon Stephens, Nevaeh Stephens, Liam Stephens, Cameron Tabor, Marcus Tabor, Christina Adkins, and two on the way; and grandsonin-law, Chris Adkins of Wayne.Also surviving are sisters Joyce Ruiz (Marty) of Lettington, Mich., and Linda Knapp of Farmington Hills, Mich.; one brother Larry Corriveau (Connie) of Holland, Mich.; brothers-in-law Howard Stephens (Freda of Wayne, Gene Stephens (Evelyn) of Crofton, Ky., and Charles Hale of Lincoln Park, Mich.; special friends Jenning "Yogi" Blankenship, Andrea Stephens, Shannon Evans, Chris Lucas, Audrey Stephens, Connie Wollun, Josh and Kristen Beller, James Porter; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. VIOLA JEAN MEREDITH HODGE, 88, of Huntington, W.Va., passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at Huntington Health and Rehabilitation. She was born October 25, 1926 in Prichard, W.Va., a daughter of the late James O. and Bernice Frances Hatfield Meredith. She was a retired seamstress from Corbin Ltd. Viola was a former member of Kenova Chapter #111 OES. She was also a lifetime member of the VFW #8429 and American Legion Post #93 Kenova Auxiliary. She attended Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Viola was preceded in death by her beloved husband Homer Hodge; one sister, Geneva Hagerman; five brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, James Homer (Debra) Hodge and Roger Lee (Hellen) Hodge, all of Huntington; one daughter and son-in-law, Jean (Bob) Hatton of Ceredo; nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; four great- great-grandchildren; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Avenell Hodge of Kenova, Doris Sparks of Flatwoods, Ky., and Connie (Bill) Conley of Ona, W.Va., and a host of family and friends. Viola was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and she will be greatly missed. She has now reunited with the love of her life, Homer. There will be private family graveside services at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 7, 2015, at Maple Hill Cemetery in Kenova with Brother-In-Christ Bill Stambaugh officiating. DAVID MICHAEL COLE, 61, of Huntington, W.Va., passed away on June 2, 2015, at St. Mary's Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 1, 1953, at Williams Air Force Base in Chandler, Ariz., a son of Gary Lee and Mamie Jean Cole. Mike was preceded in death by his father Gary. He is survived by his wife Debora F. Wilkinson-Cole; his mother Mamie Cole; his brothers Robert Patrick Cole (Vicki) and Steven Larry Cole (Susanne); and his children Shannon Greene (Matthew) and Chad Wilkinson (Brittany). Also surviving are his four grandchildren, Jackson and Macie Greene and Cheyenne and Wyatt Wilkinson. Mike spent 22 years as a counselor for juveniles in the Huntington area. He was a huge fan of Marshall University, the Cincinnati Reds and the Cleveland Browns. There will be a memorial service for Mike in the near future. SAMUEL STEVENS, 59, of Wayne, WV passed away on June 3, 2015. He was born on January 13, 1956 in Huntington, WV; a son of Burgess Stevens Jr and Trudy Collins-Lett. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers: John T. Stevens and Timothy Stevens. Sam leaves behind to mourn his loss his children: Melanie Ruth Stevens Black (Martin) and Aaron Daniel Stevens (Krissy Meredith); his sisters: Roxy Akers (Raymond), Susie North (Frank), Renée Smith (Michael) and Judy Thompson (Dave); his brothers: Jack Stevens (Cookie), Jesse Stevens, Vernon Stevens (Jennifer Yuhas), David Stevens (Lynn), Mark Stevens and Bo Stevens (Penny). Also surviving are his 7 grandchildren: Joseph Adkins, Christopher Adkins, Caleb Meredith, Braxton Slone, Emma Lee Meredith, Jace Meredith and Addlyn Stevens and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. ORLAND C. HUNT JR., 92, of Huntington, W.Va., husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and Christian, entered into eternal life Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Huntington. Orland was the son of the late Orland C. Hunt and Minnie Farris Hunt. He was also preceded in death by a sister Eloise Radcliffe, brothers Robert L. Hunt, James F. Hunt and David E. Hunt. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service where he served as Assistant Postmaster. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Ceredo, W.Va. Orland served in the United States Navy during World War II in the Amphibious Landing Force. He was a 50-year member of the Crescent Lodge #32 AF and AM, Ceredo, W.Va., where he served as Past Master and was secretary for 10 years. He was a 33 degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of the Faithful Forty. In addition, he was a member of the American Legion Post 93, Kenova and was also a Kentucky Colonel for many years. Orland is survived by his wife of 72 years, Charlene; one son, Michael Hunt, one daughter, Carla Hunt Chekos and her husband Mark, of Roswell, Ga.; one granddaughter, Stephanie Chekos Baxley; one grandson, Alexander Michael Chekos. Orland had a true love of nature, enjoyed hunting and fishing, gardening, and Bible study. His greatest joy other than his beloved wife Charlene was the role of being a grandfather. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 6, 2015, at Reger Funeral Home, 1242 Adams Avenue, Huntington, WV 25704. Memorial service to follow. Pastor Rodney Hale of the First Baptist Church of Ceredo will officiate the service. MARIE RAMEY, 61, of Genoa, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 4, 2015. She was born January 13, 1954 in Wadsworth, Ohio, a daughter of the late Claude Jervis and Ruby Jervis Queen. She leaves behind her loving husband, Dale Ramey; two daughters, Diana Dingess of Ft. Gay, W.Va., and Rebecca Ramey of Genoa; one son, Rodney Ramey (Heather) of Lavalette, W.Va.; and seven special grandchildren. Also surviving are four sisters, Linda Thompson of Mansfield, Oh., Nellie Ann Sullivan (Bob) of South Point, Oh., Betty Sue Barker (Charles) of Wayne, and Letha Faye Simpkins of Wayne; two brothers, Claude Jervis Jr. (Sandy) of Mansfield, and Claude Shannon Jervis of Morehead, Ky.; and a host of friends and family too numerous to mention. The family would like to thank Hospice of Huntington for their love and care. MILDRED T. RAMEY RITCHIE, 91, passed away peacefully into the arms of her Savior Thursday morning June 4, 2015 in Port Orange, Florida. Mrs. Ritchie was born to Lucian and Edna Tabor in East Lynn, West Virginia and moved to this area 54 years ago from Wayne, West Virginia. She was a retired bank bookkeeper and a member of Daytona Christian Church. Mrs. Ritchie was predeceased by three brothers, Horace, Harold and Glenn Tabor, a sister Lillian Thomas, her first husband Bryce Ramey and her second husband Farris Ritchie. DAVID "CHRISTOPHER" WARD, 38, former Huntington, West Virginia resident Christopher Ward passed away June 4, 2015, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Christopher was born in Huntington, West Virginia on May 8, 1977, and graduated from Huntington High School. He later attended Marshall University, where he received his B.B.A. At the time of his death, Christopher resided in Jacksonville, Florida and was employed by BB&T as a Market Leader. Christopher loved his family, friends, fishing at the beach and was a huge sports fanatic (GO HERD! and GO BLUE!). In fact, Christopher died while doing what he loved, playing basketball in North Carolina (GO TARHEELS!). Christopher was a cherished husband to Holly Nicole Ward and proud father of Sophie Fiona Ward and Declan Caine Ward. He was the beloved oldest son of Kimberly S. Ward and David Clay Ward. Christopher is also survived by his two grandmothers, Ivry "Granny" Ward and Jean Ann Harker; his two loving brothers, Matthew L. Ward (spouse Candice Ward) and Richard K. Ward (spouse Suzanne Ward); his brother-in-law Jared Gravenor; his stepmother Brenda S. Ward; his mother-in-law Tammy Gravenor; his father-in-law John Gravenor, Jr.; nieces and nephews Mason and Carrigan (parents Matthew and Candice), Brody (parents Richard and Suzanne); his stepbrother Barney Smith (spouse Stephanie Smith, his children Albert Cover and Evan Smith); various aunts, uncles and cousins and countless friends. RONALD SCOTT COOK, 69, of East Lynn, W.Va., went to be with the Lord Friday, June 5, 2015. He was a Vietnam veteran and a retired truck driver. He was born February 26, 1946, in Lundale, W.Va., a son of the late Jessie and Cora Cook. He is the husband of Benita Gaye (Carter) Cook. He is also preceded in death by six brothers, Stuart Buster Cook, Robert Lee Cook, Carl Earl Cook, Norman Lee Cook, Bobby Cook, and David Cook; one sister, Deloris Cook; one brother-in-law, Julius Workman; and one very special grandson, Bobby Joe Parsons. In addition to his wife he is survived by three brothers, Raymond, Joe and Jimmy; three sisters, Gladys, Doris and May; five children, Ronald Scott Cook Jr., Thelma Lou Cook, Corina Ann Cook, John William Scott Carter and Monika Deloris Cook. He was a loving grandfather to 12 special grandkids and two great grandkids. Funeral services will be 3 p.m., Monday June 8, 2015, at McGhee-Handley Funeral Home, West Hamlin, W.Va. DAVID LEE CALDWELL, 51, of Kenova passed peacefully on June 5, 2015, with his wife, Angie, and daughter, Haley, at his side. The family had been enjoying a vacation at their cabin in Parkersburg, W.Va. David was a hard working and family oriented man. He has worked for the IBEW Local 317 and Par Electrical Contractors for the past six years to provide for his family and to fund his love of hunting and fishing. His big passion was watching the apple of his eye, Haley, play softball. David was preceded in death by his beloved son, Joshua David Caldwell, and a special uncle, Clarence Clay. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Angie, and daughter, Haley. He is also survived by his parents, Casey and Fondalene Hay; a special aunt, Martha Clay; three siblings, Marlene Caldwell, Michael (Tammy) Caldwell and Greg (Christi) Hay; and his best friend/brother Steve "Bear" Salyers, all of Kenova. David also had several uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews who also survive him. Friends and family may pay their respects by attending David's viewing at the Kenova Church of Christ from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday June 8, 2015. The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at the church with Minister Jay McKay officiating. David's final resting place will be at Dock's Creek Cemetery, Kenova. CONNIE MARIE HILL FLEMING, 47, of Kenova, WV passed away on June 6, 2015. She was born on June 27, 1967 in Huntington, WV; a daughter of the late Elmer William Hill and Barbara Jean Romine Hill. She is survived by her husband of 29 years, David Lee Fleming; her daughters, Lourissa Fleming (Greg Yates), Emily Fleming and Amanda Thacker; her sons, Jason (Cindy) Fleming, Joshua (Janet) Fleming and Glen King. Also surviving are her siblings, Marsha (Robert) Isaacs, Karen Maynard and Billy Hill; 15 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Ceredo-Kenova Funeral Home & Cremation Services at 12 noon with George Hale officiating; the visitation was one hour prior. MARY JO ARROWOOD, 81, of Lavalette, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2015, at Wayne Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, with Pastor Steve Williams officiating. Burial will follow at the Arrowood-Dutton Cemetery at Wayne. She was born September 6, 1933, at Kenova, a daughter of the late King Joseph and Ella Thompson Hayton. She was a homemaker and former seamstress for Maidenform. She was a member of the Gragston Baptist Church and attended Central Freewill Baptist Church. Her husband, Sherman Arrowood, a daughter, Sherma Gayle Harless, and a brother, William Hayton, also preceded her in death. Survivors include two daughters, Robin Adkins (Brett) of Lavalette and Jana Ramey (Charlie) of Catawba, SC; a son, Matt Arrowood (Tara) of Huntington; a son-in-law, Herb Harless of Dallas, TX; a sister, Carol Sue Meredith (Berlin) of Kenova; two brothers, Chester Hayton of Houston, TX, and Charles Hayton (Della) of Catlettsburg, KY; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Hayton of Kenova; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. JOHN L. PERRY, 71, of Weeki Wachee, Fla., formerly of Dunlow, West Virginia, passed away June 6, 2015, at his home under the care of his loving wife and Hospice. He was Baptist by faith and a retired heavy equipment operator. John was a Vietnam veteran having served in the U.S. Army. John was unconditionally devoted to his children and grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Luther B. and Della Mae Perry; one brother, Robert "Bob" Perry and two sisters, Anna June McDonald and Gladys Cox. Left behind to celebrate his life are his loving wife of 43 years, Mary Ellen Perry of Weeki Wachee, Fla., and three sons, John B. Perry and wife Stacie, of Fort Gay, W.Va., Michael W. Perry of Wayne, W.Va., and a very special Joshua Taylor Meddings of Weeki Wachee, Fla.; his sister Berry Brumfield of Rittman, Ohio; three brothers, Glen Perry and his wife Wanda of Dunlow, W.Va., Tom Perry and his wife Mary and Charlie Perry and his wife Phyllis of Kenova, W.Va. John had six grandchildren, Cole and Jacob Perry, Tyler Perry, Brianna Maxwell, Ethan McComas and Kaitlyn Perry. John also had a special nephew, Wayne Perry. MRS. NANCY ANN HATTEN (NÉE WALKER), of North Topsail Beach, N.C., passed away peacefully on Monday, June 8, 2015, at the age of 81. Nancy was born to parents Howard and Hazel Walker on December 16, 1933, in Kenova, W.Va. She grew up as the eldest of two and attended Ceredo-Kenova High School. In 1953, she married James Thomas Hatten, and the couple had three children. Nancy was a member of American Legion Post 93 for 42 years. During this time, she assisted with several committees and served as President in 1975, 1978 and 1982. Nancy was also a member of Moose Lodge #1796 in Smithfield, N.C., and assisted with several committees. Nancy is survived by her son James Kent Hatten and Tena Turner of Proctorville, Ohio; her daughter Rona and Taylor Greene of North Topsail Beach, N.C.; her son Jeff and Yvonne Hatten of Huntington, W.Va.; her brother James Robert Walker of Ashland, Ky.; her granddaughter Jamie Hatten of Huntington, W.Va.; her grandson Shane Hatten of Catlettsburg, Ky.; her great-grandson, Jack Hatten of Huntington, W.Va.; and her niece Jamie Nunley of Ashland, Ky.. She is preceded in death by her husband James Thomas Hatten; and her parents Howard and Hazel Walker. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2015, at Kenova United Methodist, 503 15th Street, Kenova, W.Va. Visitation from 2 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. and service 3:30 p.m. until 4 p.m. All of her friends and family are invited to attend. EDWARD RAY, 91, of Huntington, passed away Monday June 8, 2014 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 pm Thursday at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Rev. Randall Robertson. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery, Kenova, WV. He was born December 13, 1923 in Shoals, WV, a son of the late William and Trinnie Irby Ray. He was a lifelong Iron Worker with Ironworkers Local 769 of Ashland, KY. Edward was a veteran of the US Army. He was a member of the Locust Grove Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was also a past Master Mason with the Buena Vista Lodge #60 AF&AM of Whites Creek whose members will conduct graveside Masonic Rites. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his sisters Ida Pelfrey, Lucetta Steele, Gladys Hutchinson, Gaynell Craddock and Beatrice Ward and his brothers Alpha Ray, Elmer Ray, Henry Ray, Charles Ray and Garnet Ray. Survivors include his wife Mildred Moore Ray; son and daughter in law David and Mary Ellen Ray; daughter and son in law Sandra and Jonathan Fowler; grandchildren Jacob Ray, Samuel Ray, Jeanette Mills, Katie Ellen Ray, Miranda Klingler, Melissa Higginbotham and Sarah Mullins and thirteen great grandchildren. KERMIT ADKINS, 80, of East Lynn, W.Va., passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Cabell Healthcare Center. He was born June 12, 1934 at East Lynn, a son of the late Percy Adkins and Tennessee Adkins Davis. Two brothers, Lovell Davis and Kenneth Adkins also preceded him in death along with his first companion Agnes Adkins, and his wife Inez Adkins. Kermit was a retired timberworker and a member of the Wolf Pen Church of Christ. Survivors include four brothers, "Tiny" Davis (Brenda), Clifford Adkins, all of East Lynn, Wetzel Adkins of Wayne, and Archie Adkins (Debbie) of Parkersburg, W.Va.; three sisters Lessie Chapman (Keith) of Kenova, W.Va., Edith Adkins of Proctorville, Oh., and Laura Ann Adkins of Ohio; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and family too numerous to mention. TIB WOODS PRICE, 71, of Kenova, WV. passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 P.M. He was born February 26, 1944 in Wayne County, WV. a son of the late Tib Woods Price , Sr. and Frances Medley Price. Tib attended Vinson High School and was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 132, he was also formerly employed with the City of Kenova. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a member of the American Legion Post 93 of Kenova. Tib was a member of Crescent Lodge 32 AF & AM in Ceredo whose members will conduct graveside rites at Crescent Hill Cemetery following the funeral. Besides his parents he was also preceded in death by a sister Jerri Hensley. He is survived by his beloved wife Nancy G. FANNIE BELLE FLEMING, 83, of Wilsondale, passed away June 15, 2015 at her home. She was born April 10, 1932 in Wilsondale, WV the daughter of Goodlow and Lora Evans Fleming. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Benny Fleming and ray Fleming of Wilsondale, WV and her brother Sherman, who died in infancy, and sister Faye Tatro of Gibsonton, Fl. She is survived by her brother John P. (Patricia) Fleming of Wilsondale, WV, and sisters Judy (Richard) Maynard of Avon, OH, Berta Gail Browning of Wilsondale, WV, Mary Jane (Donnie) Davis of Yulee, fL, Debbie Fleming Euler and Robert of Sykesville, MD, and Betty June Shrader of Lineboro, MD. She became a burlesque icon, under the stage name Blaze Starr, in the company of such stars as Tempest Storm and Gypsy rose Lee, achieving such accolades as being named "Queen of Burlesque" and achieving a spot in Playboy’s "100 Most Desirable Women in America." She rose to national fame after the release of the 1989 movie "Blaze", which chronicled her life from New Ground Branch in Wayne county, where she attended eight years of school in a one room schoolhouse, a two mile walk across a mountain in Turkey Creek. She was a supporter of veterans returning from the Vietnam War. She often visited wounded soldiers at the Walter reed Army Hospital, and on several occasions opened both her club, the 2 O’Clock Club, and even her own home to host parties for them. She also took a special interest in the children of the St. Vincent’s Orphanage of Townson, MD. She would often visit the children, generally bearing gifts, and again would open her home to them for holiday dinners. She received several awards for her work with various charitable organizations, and was often unable to allow any personal hardships she became aware of to go unaddressed. Later in life, she would design and sell her own line of jewelry, "Showgirl Creations", which has been sold both locally and through an online store front managed by her brother and business partner Benny. She would also come to take in several animals, going to great lengths to ensure their well-being and happiness. Visitation was held at the Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home in Warfield, KY, on June 17, beginning at 6:00 pm for the public. funeral services were held the following day, June 18, beginning at 2:00 pm, with the burial following at the family cemetery in Wilsondale, WV. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law Danette (William) Shirley; one son Gary R. Perdue; two grandchildren Cheryl ("John") Jackson and Billy Shirley; three great-grandchildren Christopher, John John and Hailey Jackson; two sisters Hazel Harrison and Ronnie ("Beans") Cantrell and several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. He was also a self employed barber for over 20 years. Teddy was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Proctorville where he sang in the choir. RICHARD HARDWICK OSBURN, JR., 69, of Lavalette, WV, passed away Monday, June 22, 2015, in river’s Bend Health Care, South Point, OH. He was born September 29, 1945 in east Orange, NJ a son of the late Minnie Lucille Parsons Saddler and Richard Hardwick Osburn, Sr and Clara Osburn. Two brothers, James Victor Motz and Joseph Gerald Osburn, also preceded him in death. He was a vocational rehabilitation counselor for Clinical Case Management and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. CAROL JEAN ROSS, 57 of Kenova, W.Va., passed away on Monday, June 22, 2015, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va. She was born September 27, 1957, a daughter of Fred Ross of Kenova and the late Thelma Jean Allen Ross. Carol graduated from C-K High School. She was employed by CCSO and Pan Handle Support Services as a home health care worker. In addition, she held a master electrician license and was a member of the American Society of Phlebotomy. Carol attended Emanuel Church. In addition to her father she is survived by one son, Nathan Thomas Murphy of Huntington, W.Va.; three grandchildren, Ashton Tyler Lee Murphy, Aiden Mychael Murphy and Anilayah Lotus Murphy, all of Kenova; one brother and sister-in-law, Fred (Haeyoung Kim) Ross Jr. of South Korea, and a host of other family and friends. BARBARA SUE GOOGINS FRAZIER, 69, of Kenova, W.Va., widow of Norvis "Bud" Frazier, passed away Monday, June 22, 2015, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va. ROY LEE TAYLOR,42, of Kenova passed away Tuesday June 23, 2015 in King’s Daughters Medical Center. CARL "BUCK" GOODERHAM, 79, of Huntington, passed peacefully at home with his family after a short illness with Hospice Care on Wednesday, June 24, 2015. "Buck" was born on February 11, 1936 in Huntington, WV to the late Ezra L. Gooderham and Grace Wolfe Gooderham. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Sunday, June 28, 2015 at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Pastor Jamie Gump. Buck graduated from Vinson High School - class of 1954, he was a golden gloves champion. He attended Marshall University on a football scholarship. He gave up boxing and Marshall to raise his family. Buck retired from INCO where he was a lead melter after 38 years. He loved camping, boating with family, and teaching everyone to water ski, he also enjoyed riding motorcycles and woodworking. After he retired from INCO he enjoyed making toys and furniture. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of almost 50 years, Doris J. Ross Gooderham. He is survived by a son, Carl G. REV. OTIS LYNN DILLON, 57, of fort Gay, WV, entered into rest Wednesday, June 24, 2015. Otis was born November 29, 1957 in Louisa, KY to Rev. Otis Dillon and the late Lillian Evans- Dillon. He is survived by his loving wife Sonya Lynn Williamson-Dillon and daughter Lillian Kay Dillon, two sisters, Kay and husband Randall Sartin of Fort Gay, WV, Brenda and husband Larry Smith of Fort Gay, WV, and a host of other family, friends, and co-workers. He was preceded in death by an aunt Lorena Evans, and an uncle John Dillon. He was an Elder of the Saltpetre Community Church where he served as Chairman of the Media Ministries. He was formerly the Assistant Pastor of Silver Creek Church. He was self-employed as the owner of River Track Studio for many years where he recorded many projects that were popular in the bluegrass, gospel, and country industries. He was a very accomplished musician both on the road and in the studio. He was a very loving and caring individual who left his mark on every life that he ever touched. He will be truly missed by all who ever knew him. Although the time of his departure was set by God before the foundation of the world, there will be a time of re-unitement reserved only for those that have been purchased by the blood of Christ. WILLIA A. SIAS, 86, was welcomed into Heaven on Saturday, June 27, 2015. Her final days were spent surrounded by her loving family at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Willia was a retired seamstress from Corbin Limited, a member of American Legion Auxillary Post 93 Kenova, and a member of Victory Baptist Church of Kenova. She was a foster grandparent with special needs children at Spring Valley High School and Kenova elementary School for over 25 years. She enjoyed attending church and spending time with her loved ones who often referred to her as "Nano". Waiting for her at Heaven’s gates were here parents Kay and Flora Webb Adkins, her husband Okie Sias, her brothers Ira, Jay, and Jenks Adkins, and her sister Florence Martin. Sonya was born December 30, 1968 to Bobby Williamson and the late Delores Kay Stepp-Williamson in Columbus, OH. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Otis Lynn Dillon. She is survived by her daughter, Lillian Kay Dillon, two sisters, Pamela and husband Richard Meddings of Crum, WV, Lorena and husband Gabriel Smith of Fort Gay, WV, one brother, Bobby Williamson of Roanoke, VA, two nephews, Brandon Meddings and Tristan Smith, one very special friend and neighbor, James Tucker, and a host of friends and co-workers. Sonya was a member of Saltpetre Community Church, where her late husband, Rev. Otis Lynn Dillon, served as an elder. She was employed by Zimms Bagging Co. before she was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. Sonya was a very kind and compassionate individual that always had an encouraging word for those that battled the daily struggles of life. During the tenure of her illness, she was very devoted to uplifting those afflicted by cancer, by crocheting prayer shawls for them that she would bring before the elders of the church to be anointed and prayed over. Though her condition weakened her mortal body, her faith in God never waned. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, but by a faithful reliance on the finished work of Christ at the Cross there will be another reunion. Jo Ann was born August 25, 1936 in Cabell County a daughter of the late Joseph Marshall and Alwilda Wheeler Morrison. She was a member of the first Baptist Church of Ceredo. Besides her parents she was also preceded in death by her husbands, Earl D. Webb and Donald Lee Larsen; five sisters Pauline Stafford, Ruby Walsh, Charlotte Miller, Ruth Thornhill and Virginia Morrison. She is survived by four sons and three daughters-in-law Don (Mandi) Larsen of New Martinsville, WV., Brian Jeffery (Tracee) Larsen of Slidell, LA., Stephen Gregory (Dr. Paula) Larsen of Kenova, WV. and David Marshall Larsen of Kenova, WV.; two brothers Darrell Morrison of Huntington, WV. and Joe Morrison of Chicago, Ill. GARRY P. ADKINS, 76, of Kenova, WV, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and child of God went home to Heaven on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 following an extended illness. He was born January 21, 1939 in Wayne County, WV a son of the late William Everett and Esta Marie Kirk Adkins. Garry retired from CSX where he had been a cost accountant. He was a big fan of Marshall University athletics, New York Yankee baseball and New england Patriots football. As much as he loved his favorite sports teams there was nothing more important to Garry than Jesus Christ. He loved Jesus and enjoyed sharing Him with others. He was a member of the Kenova United Methodist Church and wanted to be able to return to church to worship with his church family. He was also an ordained minister with the Federation of Ministers and Churches International. Garry loved his family. He is survived by the love of his life, Annetta Gale Lowe Adkins with whom he had shared 51 years of life. He was the proud father of two beloved children, his daughter, Wendy Fisher and her husband Rodney, and their two children John Chase Fisher and Amy Grace Fisher all of Hurricane, WV; his son, Garry P. Adkins II and his wife, Susan of Mobile, Alabama; one sister, Neltha Gibson and her husband, Jim of Spring Hill, TN; one brother, Lat "Gerald" Adkins of Catlettsburg, KY and several beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a sister, Brookie Donahoe and a brother, Bill Adkins. The family would like to express a special love to close family friends, Carol Rowe and Betty Collins. The family also thanks Rhonda Clovis from the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House for the extraordinary care she provided. The visitation will be held 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. Saturday July 4, 2015 at Kenova United Methodist Church. Funeral services will begin immediately following the visitation at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Jim Richards officiating and Pastor Chuck Lawrence assisting. Surrounded by her family and friends at home, ELLA J. DAVIS, 81, of Wayne, W.Va., went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, June 30, 2015. She was born April 3, 1934 in Wayne County, a daughter of the late John and Gracie Stephenson. Her husband, Ransom Davis also preceded her in death, along with one sister and two brothers. Ella was a member of the Booten-Millers fork Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir. Survivors include her daughter, Yvonne Webb; grandson Justin Webb; her uncle Eugene Adkins (Genevieve); one brother Carroll Stephenson (Mary Lou); son-in-law Roger Webb; stepson Anes Davis; four nieces; four nephews; their children; and the countless people who held a special place in her heart. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Johnson Tiller funeral Home with Pastors Jimmy Lester and Tony Clay officiating. Burial followed in the Gilkerson Cemetery.
