PAUL HORN, 60, of Kermit, West Virginia passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, Kentucky. He was born on May 31, 1955 to Ellen Parsley Horn and the late Charles Horn. In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by two siblings, John Horn and Virginia Horn Reedy. Paul is survived by his mother, three children, Christopher Neil Horn, Kevin Lyle Horn both of Jennies Creek, West Virginia and Brittany Michelle Horn Duff all of Jennies Creek, West Virginia and three grandchildren, Madison Taylor Duff, Colton Titus Duff and Ashton Trenton Duff. He is also survived by five siblings, Albert Horn, Haskel Horn, Richard Horn, Scotty Horn and Joyce Horn Salmons. Funeral services will be held at the Old Jennies Creek Church on Sunday, July 5, 2015 at 1:00pm. Burial will follow the George Jackson Cemetery on Jennies Creek. Friends may visit at the church on friday, July 3 starting at 6:00 pm and all day Saturday, July 4, 2015. Arrangements are under the direction of the Richmond-Callaham funeral Home, Inez, Kentucky.

JENNIFER ANN FRY PHILLIPS, of Kenova, WV, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2015 at her residence. She was born January 17, 1965 in Cabell County, West Virginia, a daughter of Judith Ann Pemberton Barker and the late Roy Leslie Fry. She was also preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Russell Pemberton and Hester Pemberton Quimby, and paternal grandparents, Andrew and Artie Fry. Jennifer is also survived by her loving stepfather, Ralph Barker; her brothers, Russell Fry (Angela), and Stephen Fry (Suki), all of Hurricane, WV; and a sister, Susan Fry of Wayne, WV. She had many loving nieces and nephews, and a special aunt, Jean Sowards of Kenova, WV. She had a host of friends too numerous to name, and two very special friends Shani Brown of Raleigh, NC and Micki Woods of Kenova, WV. Funeral services were conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 5, 2015 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, WV, with Pastor Roger Perry officiating. Visitation was from 1:00 p.m. until service time Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Stepping Stones, Inc. at P.O. Box 539, Lavalette, WV 25535, a special interest to Jennifer.

FRANKLIN D. HECK, 79, of Kenova, passed away Friday, July 3, 2015, in St. Mary’s Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at the 20th Street Baptist Church in Kenova with Pastor Scott Byard and Chaplain Dan Spreacker officiating. Interment followed in Spring Valley Memory Gardens in Huntington. He was born March 22, 1936, in Kermit, W.Va., a son of the late Ivan and Mae Midkiff Heck. Frank was a longtime businessman in Kenova, where he was the owner and operator of Heck’s Dry Cleaners along with his beloved late wife, Carole Ann Hodge Heck. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army. Frank was a Councilman from 1979-1982 and the Mayor of Kenova from 1985 to 1990. He was a member of the 20th Street Baptist Church in Kenova and a member of the C-K River Cities Lions Club. Besides his parents and his wife, he was also preceded by two brothers, Bill R. Heck and Jennings Heck, and a sister, Lois Treadway. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Christi B. and Greg Hay of Kenova; two sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy R. and Karol Heck of Huntington and Shawn and Sheila R. Heck of Ashland, Ky.; a brother, Larry Heck and his wife, Jo of Kenova; and a sister, Rose Hatten of Huntington; eight grandchildren, Adam and his wife Sarah, Christopher and his wife Katie, Aaron, Mary, Tyler and his wife Ashley, Caleb, Anne and Ashlee and her husband B.J. Haynie; and six great-grandchildren. Frank was a kind and caring man who loved his God, his family, his friends and his community; he will be deeply missed. Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 6, 2015, at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova. Memorial contributions may be made to the C-K River Cities Lions Club. JOHN ROBERT SPRADLING, 84, of South Point, Ohio, passed away Friday, July 3, 2015, in the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. He was born February 19, 1931, in Wayne County, W.Va., a son of the late Virgil and Grace Hughes Spradling. Two sisters, Mary Heaberlin and Faye Saville, and two brothers, Clyde and James R. Spradling also preceded him in death. He was a US Navy veteran serving during the Korean Conflict, and a member of VFW Post 1064. He was a retired groundskeeper for Marshall University. Survivors include his wife Effie Carter Spradling; one daughter, Grace Spradling of Huntington; a son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Heather Spradling of South Point, Ohio; one brother, Paul R. Spradling of Ohio; seven grandchildren, Kaylon, Kyle, Shelby and Lilly Spradling, Gavin, Myleaha and Jacob Crockett; three great-grandchildren, Sean, Zoey and Skylar Brazis. JAMES MINUS PERRY, 77 of East Lynn, WV, went to be with the Lord July 4, 2015 at his residence. Funeral services were conducted 11:00 Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Virgil Pack and Elder Jimmy Lester. Burial followed at Smith Cemetery, Nestlow, WV. He was born November 8, 1937 in Logan, WV, a son of the late Rush Floyd Perry and Gladys Stephens Perry. James was a U.S. Army Veteran and a retired carpenter. He was also a member of Booton-Millers Fork United Baptist Church (Pastor Steve Nida) and the Carpenter’s Local #302 in Huntington. His wife, Brenda Joyce Jeffers Perry also preceded him in death, along with a sister, Louise Tilker and a brother, Bob Perry. Survivors include two daughters, Kristie Baker and husband, Jason of East Lynn, WV, Markella Brunty and husband, Tracy of Wayne, WV; three sons, Teddy Perry and wife, Becky of Huntington, WV, Tony Perry of East Lynn, WV, Christopher Perry and wife, Courtney of East Lynn, WV; two sisters, Lois Ann Fry and husband, Jeff of Lavalette, WV, Evelyn Perry of Cleveland, OH; four brothers, Charlie Perry and wife, Patricia, Floyd Perry and wife, Phyllis, Sam Perry and wife, Louella all of Wayne, WV and John Perry of Loraine, OH; eleven grandchildren, Jessica Napier and husband, Randall, Colten Craft, Michael Craft and wife, Carrie, Brandi Craft and husband, J.J., Dustin Brunty, Tierra Lantz, Lake Baker, Brendalyn Baker, Haiden Frye, Brianna Perry and Shanil Sheppard; eighteen great-grandchildren and a host of additional family and friends. PAUL ARTRIP, 44 of Kenova, WV passed away at his home on July 6, 2015 with his loving family by his side. He was born on August 13, 1970 in Cabell County, WV. Funeral services for Paul were conducted on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at noon at Ceredo-Kenova Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Brother John McSweeney officiating with visitation one hour prior; burial followed at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, WV. He was the son of Charles Bernard Artrip, Sr. and Carolyn Sue (Christian) Artrip. Paul was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn and his grandfather, Paul Christian. He leaves behind to mourn his loss, his wife of 22 years, Kimberlie Ann (Stanaford) Artrip; his sons Charles Lee Artrip (Chelsea) and Travis Eugene Artrip. Also surviving are his father, Charles Bernard Artrip, Sr., his brother, Charles B. Artrip Jr. (Boe) and his grandmother, Hester Christian; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. Paul was a member of 20th Street Baptist Church and a former member of the Kenova Volunteer Fire Department. He fought cancer since 2007 and his family calls him their "Fighter" and their "Hero". LLOYD DAVID LEWIS, 69, of Kenova, passed away at his home on Monday, July 6, 2015. He was born on October 12, 1945, in Chicago, Ill., the son of the late Glenn and Muriel Lewis of Princeton, W.Va. He was a 1963 graduate of Princeton High and a 1967 journalism graduate of Marshall University, where he was editor of The Parthenon, and subsequently earned a Master’s degree. During his career he worked for United Press International in Charleston, was a long-time reporter/editor with The Herald-Dispatch, a public relations representative with Kentucky Power in Ashland and served as long time manager of News and Community Relations for Chessie System/CSX in Cleveland and Jacksonville. In recent years, he was a teacher locally and also in China. Lloyd was a lifelong rail enthusiast, noted author/photographer and historian (especially on the Virginian Ry.). He published numerous rail books and magazine articles. He was a member of numerous railroad historical societies and was instrumental in the development of the Princeton Railway Museum. His infectious grin and affable manner will be missed. He is survived by his son Carter D. Lewis (Amber) of Charlotte, N.C.; his brother Lowell G. Lewis (Margie) and his nephew Glenn Lewis of Greeley, Colo. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. on Friday, July 10, 2015, followed by a reception, at First United Methodist Church in Huntington where he was a member. Officiating will be Dr. Mark Conner assisted by lifelong friend Bob Withers, pastor of Seventh Avenue Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First UMC. ELMER LEE RATCLIFF, 48, of Crum, WV passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at his home. He was born December 8, 1966 in Huntington, WV a son of the late Minnie Rose Ratcliff. He attended Webb Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to his mother he was preceded in one sister, Eva Ratcliff. Survivors include his loving wife, Kimberly Block Ratcliff of Crum, WV.; one daughter, Kaley (Kyle Norris) Belg of Dayton, Ohio; one son, Tommy Belg of Crum, WV.; grandson, Colton Norris of Dayton, Ohio; sister, Charlene (Tony) Cantrell of Crum, WV.; brothers, Ronnie (Shirley) Ratcliff of Martin Co. Ky.; Donald and Brandon Ratcliff both of Crum, W.V.; Special Nephew, Zack Cantrell of Crum, WV.; Very, very special friends, Jim Bartram and crew. ANNETTE E. (FINK) BISHOP of Washington Crossing, PA. formerly of Ceredo, WV. passed away suddenly on July 7, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Frances Fink. She is survived by her husband, Michael R. Bishop, daughter, Beth Anne and fiancé Tim Doan, and her grandchildren Keegan and Madison. She is also survived by her brother Stanley Fink and his wife Arisba of Ceredo and her brother-inlaw and sister-in-law Terry and Diana Bishop of Huntington, WV, and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Thursday, July 16, 2015 at the First Baptist Church of Ceredo with Assistant Pastor David Kephart officiating. DOROTHY G. HILL, 92, of Fort Gay, WV passed away July 7, 2015 at Cabell Huntington Hospital following a brief illness. Mrs. Hill was born July 12, 1922 at Fort Gay, WV the daughter of the late Taylor and Hazel Robertson Dawson. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Charles L. Hill, a daughter Reva Unterwagner, two sisters Hattie Lemaster and Billie Jean Cyrus, and two brothers David Dawson and June Dawson. She was a homemaker and a long time member of the Bartram Chapel Church. Survivors include her daughter Donna L. Branham and husband Douglas of Fort Gay, a brother Cecil Dawson also of Fort Gay, three grandchildren Amy Sexton, Brian Unterwagner, and Christi Noel Welsh; nine great grandchildren and a host of beloved nieces and nephew. Funeral services will be held on Saturday July 11 at 1:00 pm at the Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Mack Ray Cyrus officiating. Burial will follow in the Hill Cemetery at Fort Gay, WV. IRECA FAYE MCSORLEY WOOTEN, 84, of Catlettsburg, Ky. passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2015 in the Grayson Assisted Living Home. Funeral services were conducted 1:00 P.M. Friday, July 10, 2015 at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova with Pastor Manfred Langer officiating. Entombment followed in the Rose Hill Burial Park, Ashland. Faye was born May 22, 1931 in Prichard, WV. a daughter of the late Richard and Icey Marie Fortner McSorley. She was a member of the Cyrus Baptist Church. Besides her parents she was also preceded in death by her beloved husband Eugene Wooten and two brothers Charles and Bernard McSorley. Survivors include three sons and a daughter-in-law Earl (Peggy) Wooten of Cannonsburg, Ky., Michael Wooten of Ashland, Ky. and Terry Wooten of Catlettsburg, Ky. and one daughter and son-in-law Peggy (Kenny) Black of Catlettsburg, Ky. NORMAN EUGENE CISCO, 79, of Huntington, WV passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2015 in the Cabell-Huntington Hospital. He was born February 24, 1936 in Wolfe County, Kentucky, a son of the late Lenzy and Eliza Nickell Cisco. He was a retired Boat Captain from the Ohio River Company. Besides his parents he was also preceded in death by 3 brothers L.V. Cisco, Arnold Cisco and Sanford Cisco and one sister Virginia. Survivors left to cherish his memory are two sons Norman Eugene Cisco, Jr. and Kevin Cisco; one daughter Lisa Rakes; two grandchildren and two sisters Revia Robertson and Enith Crockett. JAMES RAYMOND SHAVER, 84, of Lavalette, W.Va., died Wednesday, July 8, 2015, at his residence. Jim was born January 31, 1931, in Manheim, W.Va., a son of the late Walter B. and Lottie Felton Shaver. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, a retired accountant, and a member of the Bethesda United Methodist Church in Ona. He was preceded in death by an infant sister Bernice Shaver and sister Helen Dobbins, three brothers, Chuck, Leslie and Edwin Shaver. Survivors include his wife Carolyn Sue Gibson Shaver; two daughters, Cristi Elstone and husband Kevin of Redford Mich., and Lisa Newman of Lynchburg, Va.; three sons, Mitch Shaver, M.D. and wife Micki of Huntington, Todd Shaver of Lavalette, W.Va., and Eric Shaver of Ona, W.Va.; nine grandchildren, Erin, Adam and Karl Shaver, Kelli Elstone Slayden and husband Alex, Alyssa and Stacy Elstone, Daniel, Andrew and Brian Newman; one brother, Walter Shaver Jr. and wife Betty of Carrollton, Ohio; and one sister, Gaye Childs of Terra Alta, W.Va. PRISCILLA "PRIS" SNIDER JOHNSON - On July 8, 2015, we lost our precious daughter Pris, 62 years old, at King's Daughters Medical Center, Ashland, Ky., with her family present. Pris was born December 22, 1952, in Huntington, W.Va.. She lived most of her life in Ashland, Ky., and Tucson, Ariz. Pris attended the following schools: Westmoreland Elementary, Vinson, Paul Blazer and the University of Arizona. Pris was preceded in death by maternal grandparents Grothie and Lima Noe. Left to mourn her passing are her parents Jerry and Annie Mansbach; her brother and best friend Jon Snider of Ashland, Ky.; her children Nikki Johnson and Jess (Raechel) Johnson and her pride and joy, granddaughter Kai Johnson of Tucson, Ariz.; her sister friend Kate Jesse; and her four-legged friend Emaa. Pris was an artist, photographer and friend to all. Her favorite places were the farm in Ashland, Ky., her home in Tucson, Ariz., and Treasure Cay Island, Bahamas. Pris was a wonderful daughter, sister, mother and friend. She will leave a space in our lives no one else can fill. At her request, Pris was cremated and a private family ceremony was held. RICHARD CASSELL, 79 of Huntington, WV passed away July 8, 2015, at Wurtland, KY Nursing and Rehabilitation after a long battle with Alzheimers. He leaves to mourn his passing, Billie his wife of 50 years, special son, Ryan (Cindy) Cassell of Prichard, WV, his two precious granddaughters, Lynndsey and McKenzie Cassell. In addition his brother and best friend Danny Cassell , two sisters, Fay and Mary of Lakeland, FL, a special brother-in-law Rodney (Patty) Lewis of Kenova an , his fluffy companion Pretty Girl. Richard graduated from Vinson High School, served with the US Navy and retired from Owens Illinois. After retirement, he worked 15 years at Walmart on Rt. 60. He also attended Grace Gospel Church. Visitation was from 6 to 8 PM, Friday , July 10, 2015 at Reger Funeral Home. Graveside services, will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday July 11 at Spring Valley Memory Gardens, with Pastor Scott Byard officiating. The procession will leave the funeral home Saturday at 10:30 AM for the cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Community Hospice, Ashland, Ky. ROBERT E. BAYS, 93, of Fort Gay, WV passed July 9, 2015 at his home. He was born Jan. 13, 1922 at Fort Gay, the son of the late Ballard and Nada Wellman Boys. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Barbara Spears and a brother Russell Boys, nieces Connie Hanshall and Frieda Kelly. Survivors include his brother-in-law Willie Spears, nephews Buck (Patty) Spears, Billy (Tammy) Spears, a special great niece Lisa Methax and several great nephews and nieces; two very special friends Jr. Raines and Bernard Porter. Robert was a World War II Veteran and a retired truck driver. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Funeral services were held on Sunday July 12 at 2:00 pm at the Saltpetre Community Church with Rev. Richard Maynard officiating. Burial followed at the Wellman Cemetery Fort Gay, WV. Friends called from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm Saturday at the Wilson Funeral Home.

RICKEY DALE WEBB, 57, loving husband and father, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 9, 2015 in Bradenton, Florida. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 13, 2015 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne with Father Julian Marneni and Pastor Roger Perry officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Wayne, WV. He was born on October 13, 1958, in Wayne County, WV to Homer and Elizabeth Maynard Webb of Fort Gay, WV. Rick was a Riverboat Captain for C&B Marine and previously worked for Superior Marine Ways. He was preceded in death by his father in law Jack Nelson and brother in law Tony Nelson. In addition to his father and mother, Rick is survived by his loving wife of 32 years Sherry Nelson Webb, two daughters Erin Brooks and husband Justin of Prichard, WV, Jennifer Lynn Webb of Prichard, WV, son Joshua D. Webb (Rachel) of Wayne, WV, brothers Eddie (Alice) Webb and David Webb all of Wayne, WV and sisters Debbie (Mike) Perry of Ft. Gay, WV and Pam (Mike) Shelton of North Carolina. He is also survived by his mother in law Dolores Nelson, brothers and sisters in law Sharon (Dave) Denning of Huntington, Andy Nelson, Donald A. Nelson (Hope) all of Lavalette, WV, Charlotte (Terry) Thompson of Wayne, WV, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Pallbearers will be his son-in-law Justin Brooks, Dave Adkins, Jeff Irby, Shawn Ball, Hobie Haney, and Jared Thompson. GAYLE SMITH, 71, of Arcadia, Fla. formerly of Fort Gay, WV passed away Thursday, July 9, 2015 at St. Marys Medical Center in Huntington, WV. She was born April 14, 1945 in Fort Gay, WV a daughter of the late Taylor and Mary Maynard Thompson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Smith. Survivors include, one son, Wesley Smith of Arcadia, Fla.; sister, Martha Campbell of Catlettsburg, Ky.; brothers, Tommy Thompson of Columbus, Ohio; Larry Thompson of Columbus, Ohio; Taylor J. Thompson of Salt Lake City, Utah; and a special friend, Helena Pyles of East Lynn, WV. A graveside service will be conducted 4:00 pm Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Lakin Cemetery, Prichard, WV with Pastor Johnny Harris officiating. ARNOLD R. ROSS, 82, born in Wayne, WV on April 19, 1933 to the late James Madison (Matt) and Goldie (Pyles) Ross, went to be with the Lord on July 9, 2015. Visitation will be held at the Morris Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, July 13, 2015, from 1-2 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Fred Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Wayne, WV. Arnold, a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, resided in Columbus, Ohio and was retired from the A&P Bakery. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Sylvia, daughter Teresa (Tom) Hinkle, brothers, Oscar Kenneth (Flo), Bill (Nancy) and David (Lois) Ross as well as sisters Marge (Arlie) Elliott, Juanita (Cecil) Davis and an infant sister, Mary May Ross. He is survived by a son Jeffrey (Jackie) Ross, brothers, Bob (Maxine) and Claude (Jean) Ross, grandchildren Michael Garrett, Debbie (Eric) Bell, Evan Ross and great-grandchildren Zachary Garrett and Hannah Bell.

JOHN PHILLIP DAVIS, JR, "Coach Phil Davis" 69, passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, July 10, 2015 in Lavalette, WV. Phil is survived by his wife, Helen; daughter Gina; sons, Brian and his wife Jody, Scott and his wife Amanda; grandsons, Chase, Andrew and Corey; and brother, Frederick Davis. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Helen Davis. Phil was born on April 1, 1946 in Huntington, WV son of the late John and Helen Davis. He graduated from Buffalo High School in 1964 and then attended Marshall University in Huntington, WV. He married Helen Potter, his college sweetheart in 1969. Phil began his career as a teacher and coach of football, wrestling and track at Buffalo High School, where he taught and coached for 20 years. He then became a teacher and coach of the same three sports at Chesapeake High School until he retired in 2011. Phil’s children remember him as a patient, loving father who encouraged them to pursue their goals. Phil was an accomplished coach who will be missed by generations of players. He was a dedicated man who loved football, wrestling and track but even more so the young men who played for him. He was passionate about the future of his players and students. Phil was also an avid fly-fisherman who loved to teach others to fish as much as he loved fishing tales. EDWARD LEE BELLOMY, 74, of Wayne, W.Va., passed away Sunday, July 12, 2015 at home. He was born July 19, 1940 in Lavalette, W.Va., a son of the late Charles and Wilma Bellomy. His wife, Catherine Bellomy, also preceded him in death along with his son, Edward Lee Bellomy II; two brothers, Charles Ralph Bellomy and Bob Bellomy; and one stepdaughter, Elizabeth Mitchell. Ed proudly served in the U.S. Air Force and was retired from the Huntington Police Department and the Virginia Department of Agriculture. He leaves behind one daughter, Allyson "Nikki" Darling (Michael) of Ashburn, Va.; five sons Gregory Bellomy (Louise) of Cape Coral, Fla., Brian Scott Bellomy (Ani) of Wayne, Edward Lee Bellomy III (Amanda) of Indianapolis, IN, Jay Mitchell of Calif., and Joe Mitchell of Charlotte, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Brian Meagan, Christopher, Mathew, Jackson, Julia, and Carmen; five great grandchildren, Devon, Alexis, Isaiah, Jasmine, and Treyce. Also surviving is one sister, Nancy Adkins of Dayton, Oh. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, July 17, 2015 at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with Pastor Matthew Stepp officiating. ROGER LEE DICK, 68, of Huntington, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at Jo Lin Health Center, Ironton, Ohio. He was born November 22, 1946, in Huntington, W.Va., a son of Lucy King Dick and the late Thurman Lee Dick. Roger was a veteran of the US Navy. He was preceded in death by a son John Dick. Additional survivors include two brothers, Ronald and Donald Dick. Services were private for the family. Reger Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.

RONALD MORGAN FERGUSON, 67, of Kenova, journeyed peacefully into eternal life at home Tuesday, July 14, 2015. Ron was born in Kenova August 9, 1947, the youngest son of Morgan and Phoebe Riggs Ferguson. Ron was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his beloved wife of 26 years, Roberta Chenoweth Ferguson, and his cherished son, Ronald Morgan Ferguson, Jr. Additional survivors include brother: Aldon (Del) Ferguson of Kenova; sister: Helen (Bill) Potter of Ironton, Ohio; nephews: Brian Ferguson, Mark and James Potter; niece, Jennifer Stapleton, and many cousins whom he loved dearly. With his marriage May 20, 1989, Ron gained the large Chenoweth family adding parents, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins who blessed his life. Ron was a 1965 graduate of Buffalo High School and attended Marshall University majoring in journalism. He served in the army reserves during the Vietnam War. Ron worked as a reporter with the Ashland Daily Independent before opening "Ron's Cars, Inc." in 1982. After closing his business in 2012, he served as managing editor of the Wayne County News and worked part time at Advanced Auto Parts in Kenova. Ron was a faithful husband, devoted father and loyal friend. He was a man of unquestioned character and integrity. He enjoyed sports (especially Marshall University), automobiles (especially Fords) and quarter horses (especially sorrel). Ron attended Kenova United Methodist Church with his family and was a life-long member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. Although we were not prepared, Ron was at peace with his Lord, saw his son become a wonderful young man and completed the restoration of his prized "66 Ford Fairlane GTA". ADA GAIL MAYO OLAH, 61, of Huntington passed on Tuesday July 14, 2015 at her residence. Interment followed in the Mayo Family Cemetery in Huntington. Ada was born January 9, 1954 in Huntington a daughter of Inez Hutchinson Mayo and the late Eugene Mayo. She was an administrative assistant with University Physicians and Surgeons and was Baptist by faith. Besides her father she was also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law Shelley Arthur. Besides her mother she is survived by one daughter and son-in-law Angela Gail (Mark) Hall of Lavalette, WV.; one son Frankie Arthur of Huntington, WV.; one grandson Matthew Douglass Queen of Lavalette, WV.; one sister and brother-in-law Tana (Scott) Hensley of Ceredo, WV.; one brother and sister-in-law Charles (Judy) Mayo of Kenova, WV.; nieces and nephews Matt (Rachel) Hensley, Kristin (Jeremy) Bennett, Courtney (Matt) Cleveland and Amanda (Wes) Damron and several great nieces and nephew. LAURA J. NAPIER, 72, died July 14, 2015 at The Broadmoor Assisted Living Community in Fort Pierce, Florida. She was born in Huntington, West Virginia and lived in Sebastian, Floirda since 2010, coming from Corte Madera, California. Laura was a licensed medical technician as well as a licensed pilot. She was a graduate of Marshall University, Huntington, West Virginia. Survivors include brother Larry Napier (Elaine) of Sebastian, Florida; sisters Gloria Jean Napier of Huntington, West Virginia and Mary Margaret Malott of Chesapeake, Virginia; several nieces and nephews and their children and her beloved black lab, Ginger. CEBERT "EDWARD" HILL, 97 of Kenova, WV passed away peacefully July 15, 2015 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Born October 25, 1917 on the North Fork of Big Creek, Boone County, WV. He was the last of the 11 children born to Edward and Annie Stollings Hill. He was retired from The Creasey Company, an avid farmer, a disabled veteran, and a friend to everyone he met. He is survived by his wife, Oma Lee Barker Hill whom he cherished for over 72 years. Children, Gary (Carolyn) Hill, Larry (Joann) Hill, Judy Murphy, Jeanne (Charles) Wagner, Eddy Hill, and Lisa (Rick) Black. RAY WAYNE ADKINS, 87, of Wayne, died Friday, July 17, 2015, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. BLANCHE RUTHERFORD, 91, of Fort Gay, WV, formerly of Dunlow passed away Sunday, July 19, 2015 at St. Marys Medical Center in Huntington, WV after an extended illness. She was born June 22, 1924 in Dunlow, WV a daughter of the late, Noah and Lou Emma Crum Robinson. Blanche was a homemaker and was a Rosie Riveter in World War II. She loved to make quilts and give them away to all her family. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Rutherford who passed away in 1999; brothers and sisters, Everett, Sidney, Beecher, Curtis, Jim, Elijah (Jack) Robinson, Nannie Queen, Ollie Ferguson, and Ida Campbell. DAVID LEE JOHNSON, 80, left this earth and passed over into the presence of the Lord on July 20, 2015, at the VA Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va. David was born April 20, 1935, in Huntington. He served in the United States Army and received an honorable discharge. He was a graduate of Buffalo High School and became a master in the construction industry operating his own construction business, Johnson Mountain Enterprises. David was preceded in death by his parents James M. and Emma Jean Mayo Johnson. He is survived by his dedicated wife Estelle, to whom he was married for 60 years. This marriage brought forth a daughter Deborah Johnson Eastham and her husband Cliff Eastham; a son David Jeffrey Johnson and his wife Lisa Brown Johnson; grandchildren Justin Pennington whose dedication to his grandfather was deeply appreciated, Joshua Pennington, Holly Eastham, David Andrew Johnson, and twins Kendyl and Keaten Johnson; great-grandchildren include Lea Pennington and Hailey Pennington; one brother, Russell James Johnson and his wife, Francis Arthur Johnson; and nephews James and Steve Johnson. David had many friends and a passion for life; he bravely fought many issues during his illness. David's legacy will be remembered most by the way he loved his family and the kindness and generosity he showed toward other human beings. JACKSON WATTS, 67, of River, Kentucky passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at Cornerstone Hospital of Huntington, West Virginia. He was born on December 5, 1947 in Wayne County, West Virginia to the late Thurman Watts and Louisa Bowen Hinkle. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Faye Watts, one sister, Virginia Hinkle and two brothers, Timmy Hinkle and William Hinkle. Jackson is survived by his Step Father, Paul Hinkle, three daughters, Sandy (Ron) Smith, Jackie (Kevin) McCarty both of Prestonsburg, KY and Samantha (Jamie) Dindal of Inez, KY and 1 son, T. J. Jessica was the manager of the Sun Spot Tanning in Lavalette prior to her illness. She loved her co-workers, customers and friends dearly. She enjoyed traveling, music and spending time with her son, niece and nephews. Jessica had a big heart and loved helping and giving to others. She was Baptist by faith. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Ray and Elizabeth Thompson and her maternal grandparents Isom and Ethel Johnson. Burial followed a the Atkins Family Cemetery at Genoa, WV. She was born June 5, 1950 in Wayne, WV to the late Oscar and Nancy Hundley Robinson. Amy belonged to the Radnor Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Richard Lane Atkins, infant son Richard Lane Atkins, Jr., grandparents Roland and Mary Frances Robinson, Hubert and Amy Bell Hundley, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Raymond and Joan Atkins, and her brother Elmer Dee Robinson. Surviving is her daughter, Jennifer Atkins of Genoa; brothers and sisters, Katherine Adams (Orville) of Portsmouth, OH, Delmer Robinson of Genoa, WV, Anna Lou Ferguson (Emanuel) of Huntington, WV, Denver Robinson (Donna), Judy Osborne (Bill), all of Genoa, WV, Shirlene Morgan (Ernie) of Wilsondale, WV, Zyndale Robinson (Bonnie) of Radnor, WV, Anita Salmons and Jimmy Robinson (Pauletta), all of Dunlow, WV, sister-in-law, Alene Robinson of Genoa, WV, brothers-in-law, Ronald Atkins of Wayne, WV, Donald Atkins (Kitty) of Huntington, WV, and Stevie Atkins (Okle) of Radnor, WV and numerous nieces and nephews. The family extends special thanks to her niece, Amanda Salmons and her nephews Mark Salmons (Ashley) of Dunlow, Drema Perry of Genoa, and the staff of the ICU at Cabell Huntington Hospital for their care. LADOSKA NAPIER, 88, died July 23, 2015, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She is preceded in death by her husband, Glen Napier; parents, Tilmon and Noma Childers; brothers, Tilmon, Elson and Arnie Childers; sisters, Zelma Gue, Thelma Gue, Verlia Gibson, Halsie Ross, Elsie Pearson, Katie Aluise and Janet Butensky. Ladoska is survived by son, Eddie (Debbie); grandchildren, Amy (Roger) Aubery and Andy Napier; great-grandchildren, Roger, Lauren, Glen and Katherine Aubery; and many nieces and nephews. She attended Brookside Baptist Church. Over the years she would provide childcare for her grandchildren and great nieces and nephews. She loved cooking for family and friends – fried apples, biscuits and gravy and Italian wedding soup were special treats. Family was everything to her. She will be missed by all. Private memorial services to be held in Columbus, Ohio, and Huntington, West Virginia.

IVORY JANE HUNT ADKINS, 73, of Huntington, passed away Friday, July 24, 2015, in the Huntington Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be conducted at noon Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at Rollins Funeral Home, Kenova, with Pastor Danny Roberts officiating. Interment will follow in Docks Creek Cemetery, Kenova. She was born June 26, 1942, in Floyd Co. Ky., a daughter of the late Roland and Vinnie Thompson Hunt. She was a member of the Kenova Church of Christ. Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Claudette Keelin and Genevieve Tackett. She is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, James (Teri) Hunt of Huntington and Tony Pauley of Huntington; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. She is also survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Linzie (Christine) Hunt of Prestonburg, Ky., and Ted (Ann) Bates of Huntington, and a host of family and friends. EMMA IRENE ELLIOTT ROMANS, born June 29, 1934, in Wayne County, West Virginia. She was a homemaker, the beloved wife of Wayne Romans Jr. for 67 years and the precious loving mother of her only child and son Tommy Lee (Mary) Romans. She went to be with her Lord Saturday, July 25, 2015. She was a member of the Philadelphia United Baptist Church. Borne away on Angel wings from her home and escorted into the presence of her loving Savior, she is now at rest! She made her transition from the earthly to the Heavenly. All earth's trials have now passed and faded from view. Her works are ended and labors here are through. She left behind her love and care like a fragrance that will live on forever in the hearts of her family. She is finally free! She now has a new body. Her pain and suffering are over! Mom, we miss you so much, but we know you are with Jesus rejoicing in God's presence. You are happily at home with friends and loved ones who have gone before. O what a joy there must be as you wait for the rest of your family and friends to join you in a place where Angels sing and death is unknown. A place where tears, brokenness and sickness can never enter. A golden city of mansions bright, a place where there cometh no night, where the Son of God is the light! This is Heaven, this is Home! She was preceded in death by her parents Alfred and Ethel Brunty Elliott. A very special thanks to Dr. Ronald Brownfield who treated Mom in her sickness with such wonderful care. And also we want to thank the Hospice workers who tended to Mom. FRANKLIN WALTER HENSLEY, age 82, of Oak Ridge, Tenn., passed July 25, 2015. He is survived by Mary Katherine, his wife of 59 years, and brother L. Charles. Frank grew up in Ceredo, W.Va., son of Leonard and Marie Hensley. He graduated Buffalo High School and Marshall University with an engineering degree in 1964. Frank resided Oak Ridge for 48 years. He enjoyed and preserved the scenic mountains in Tennessee. He also loved white watering and encouraged clean water activism. LISA GAIL JOHNSON BARTON, 54, of Wayne, WV, died Monday, July 27, 2015 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. TED O. MAYS, 76, of Huntington, W V passed away Monday, July 27, 2015 at home. He was born March 30, 1939 in Wayne County, WV. He was the son of Lawrence Mays and Opal Ermalee Mays. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Doris Leah Ransbottom Mays, his sons, Teddy Mays, Terry Mays and Steve Wilkes, his uncle Keith Mays and other siblings. He leaves behind to mourn his loss his sons, Todd Mays (Missy Jarrell) and Carl Wilkes. Also surviving are several loving grandchildren and great grandchildren; his sister, Betty Riley (Zim), his brother Jack Mays (Brenda) and other siblings. The family would like to say a special thank you to Betty (Zim) and Jack (Brenda) for all the love and care they gave to Ted over the years. MARVIN JOE WALTERS, 75, of Huntington, W.Va., passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at home. He was born September 24, 1939 in Wayne County, W.Va., a son of the late Elmon and Shirley Walters. His wife, Louella Walters, also preceded him in death along with his brothers, Ervin Walters and Larry Walters; and one sister, Helen Collins. Marvin loved his family and home. He leaves behind one daughter, Teresa Hale (Carl) of Huntington, W.Va.; two grandsons, Michael Sowder of Kenova, W.Va. and Tim Sowder, II also of Kenova.; four great grandchildren, Aubree Sowder, Leah Sowder, Georgia Sowder, and Timothy Allen Sowder, III. Also surviving is three brothers, Terry Walters of Huntington, Willie "Jr." Walters of Huntington and Flem Walters of Prichard, W.Va.; and a host of friends and family. RUBY MAE HAZLETT HOWARD, 94, of Kenova, WV passed away Friday, July 31, 2015 at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, WV. She was born October 17, 1920 in Ceredo, WV a daughter of the late George Walter and Mary Maude Huff Hazlett. Ruby was a graduate of Ceredo-Kenova High School. She was also a member of the Maple Street Church of God. In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Merville C. Howard; two sons, Donald and John Howard; and three brothers, Lowell K. Ball, Garland E. Ball and Charles W. Hazlett. She survived by two sons, Charlie Howard and Timothy Howard, both of Kenova; one daughter, Connie Sue Sparks of Morehead, KY; one daughter-in-law, Joyce Howard of Kenova and several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. There will be no visitation. A graveside service was conducted Monday, August 3, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery in Kenova with Pastor Rabun Haddock officiating. The procession left from Rollins Funeral Home at 10:45 a.m. Monday morning for the service. Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova is assisting the Howard family.

EUGENE MAYNARD, 83, of Huntington, went to be with his Lord on Friday, July 31, 2015, at the Emogene Dolin Hospice House, surrounded by his family. He was born June 30, 1932, to the late Frank and Sada Finley Maynard. He was also preceded in death by a beloved son, Donald Eugene Maynard; brothers, John Maynard and Theautry Maynard; and sisters, Myrtle Dick and Fae Maynard Flowers. He was a Huntington East High School graduate and a member of Fifth Ave Freewill Baptist Church. He served as a medic in the Army from 1949-1951. He was a certified welder by trade, a successful real estate investor and a man of few words. He leaves behind his loving wife of 47 years, Phyllis; his daughter, Connie Walker Maynard; his son, Ronnie Eugene (Sandy) Maynard; and a daughter-in-law Stephanie Maynard, all of Huntington. He is also survived by his sister, Judy (Robert) Beckett of Ona; brothers, Gary Maynard of Huntington and Walter Maynard of Baltimore, Md.; grandchildren, Kari (Charley) Shumaker, Andy Maynard, Travis Kauffer, all of Huntington, Alex (Amanda) Maynard of Proctorville, Ohio, and Jordan Ross of Huntington; and four great-grandchildren, Allen and Megan Shumaker, Teygan Kauffer, Gage and Jaxon Maynard, all of whom he loved very much. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 3, at Beard Mortuary with Rev. Cledith Campbell and Rev. Ray Vance officiating. Burial will follow at Community Gardens Cemetery, Wayne.
