RICHARD DANIEL WARD, 59, of Kenova died Aug. 1, 2015, at home. He was a laborer for N&W Railway. There will be no visitation nor funeral. Reger Funeral Home is assisting the family. www.regerfh.com

ARLIE E. CARTER, 36, of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Wayne County, W.Va., died Aug. 1, 2015, at Marion General Hospital. Johnson Tiller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, which are incomplete.

HERSHEL FRY, 80, of Wayne, WV, passed away Sunday, August 2, 2015 at Wayne Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, WV, with Elder Roger Maynard and Brother Clifford Napier officiating. Burial will follow at Community Memorial Gardens at Wayne. He was born September 5, 1934 at Stiltner, WV, a son of the late Harvey and Charity Adkins Fry. He was a former self-employed laborer. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Sarah Fry, and Parker and Chloe Adkins, along with his sisters Paralee Hoover and Chloa Stump and several infant brothers and sisters he is now getting to meet and know in heaven. Survivors include two sisters, Rosalee Finley (Julius) of Texarkana, AR, and Sue Canaday (James) of Lavalette, WV; a brother, Dempsy Fry (Nila) of Johnstown, OH; a former sister-in-law, Lena Fry of Pataskala, OH; a brother-in-law, Herbert Stump of Findlay, OH, and a host of loving nieces, nephews and friends. HELEN ELIZABETH McLACHLAN STARK, 93, of Greensboro, N.C., passed away on Monday, August 3, 2015, at Moses Cone Hospital. She was born June 30, 1922, and was the elder daughter of the late Alexander McKenzie Fraser McLachlan and Helen Nicol McLachlan. Mrs. Stark is predeceased by her husband Henry Jacobs Stark and her sister Constance May McLachlan Ashworth. Survivors include three nieces and two nephews. Mrs. Stark graduated from Ceredo-Kenova High School as valedictorian of the class of 1939 and she attended Marshall University in Huntington, W.Va. She had a business career in the banking industry. As a talented soprano, she performed for many years in the Huntington area. The family of Mrs. Stark wishes to thank Dr. Richard Fox and Dr. Cynthia Dunham and the entire staff of the Northwest Fresenius Care Center of Greensboro for their compassion and care. An 11 a.m. graveside service will be held on Friday, August 7, 2015, at Bethel Presbyterian Church, McLeansville, N.C.

DAVID WILEY QUEEN, 55, of Wayne, W.Va., passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 5 p.m. Friday, August 7, 2015, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, W.Va., with Paul Michael Booth officiating. Burial will follow at the Barker Cemetery. Genoa, W.V.a. He was born December 5, 1959, in Huntington, W.Va., a son of Wiley Queen of Louisa, Ky., and the late Gracie Sansom Queen. David was a former coal miner and was a member of Wayne Masonic Lodge #18 AF&AM. He was also a former Golden Gloves Champion and was inducted into the Ringside Brothers Hall of Fame. He was also preceded in death by his father-in-law Oscar Barker, and an infant daughter. Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Deborah Barker Queen; a daughter Amanda Kaye Queen Bishop (Greg) of Wayne, W.Va.; a son David Judd Queen (Barbara), also of Wayne; three grandchildren, Alexa, Liam and Jaxon; a sister Melissa Maynard (Harland) of Wayne; and brothers Gary Queen (Susan) and Mark Queen (Kimberly), all of Wayne; special nieces and nephews Samantha, Jacob, Blair, Lauryn, Luke, Brooklyn, and Kasey; a brother-in-law Brian Barker (Cheryl), and a host of special friends. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Friday at Morris Funeral Home.

KENNETH MILLS, 87, of Waxhaw, N.C., passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 9, 2015, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, W.Va., with Minister Joe Besenyei officiating. Burial will follow at the Mills Cemetery, Wayne, W.Va. He was born April 14, 1928, at Wayne, a son of the late Burgess and Jennie Miller Mills. Kenneth was a retired dispatcher for the Norfolk & Southern Railroad and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was also an Elder in the Church of Christ at Princeton, W.Va., for 38 years and was a member of the Gold Hill Church of Christ. Two brothers, Jack Mills and Fred Mills also preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife Minnie Marie Adkins Mills; a daughter Margaret Lewis (Elton) of Waxhaw, N.C.; two sons, Dennis Mills (Kathy) of Fredericksburg, Va., and Richard Mills of Lorton, Va.; a sister Virginia Cornwell (Carroll) of Salisbury, N.C.; three brothers, Gene Mills of Salisbury, N.C., Hubert Mills of Petersburg, Va., and Hobert Mills (Chris) of Granville, Ohio; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends two hours prior to services on Sunday at Morris Funeral Home Chapel.

CLARA ADKINS CALDWELL, 94, of Kenova, went to be with the Lord Thursday, August 6, 2015, at the St. Mary's Medical Center. She was born July 8, 1921, in Wayne County, a daughter of the late Harmon and Virginia Lowe Adkins. She worked 33 years for Camden Park mainly in the cafeteria and was a member of the Faith Freewill Baptist Church. Besides her parents she was also preceded in death by her beloved husband Lewis Caldwell; two sons, Boyd and Paul Caldwell; grandson Jeff Workman and six brothers. She is survived by one son, John Caldwell (Irene); three daughters, Nell Workman (Bob), Pat Workman (Johnny Lee) and Rose Pennington, all of Kenova; 16 grandchildren, Charles Caldwell (Jana) of Texas, Randall Caldwell (Sandy) of Kenova, David Caldwell of Kenova, James Caldwell of Ohio, Allen Boyd Caldwell of Kenova, Odell Caldwell of Michigan, Earnestine Caldwell of Michigan, Deborah Tomblin of Huntington, Angela Barrett (Steve) of Kenova, Mark Workman of Ceredo, Bryan Pennington (Stacee) of Kenova, Brenda Damron (Elmer) of Kenova, LeAnn Snyder (Zeek) of Kenova, Paul David Caldwell of Ohio, Teresa Edens (Greg) of Huntington and Mysti Lynn Caldwell (Sherman) of Huntington; one sister, Cora Lee Reed of Huntington and one brother, Harley Adkins (Libby) of Ceredo. She is also survived by 32 great-grandchildren and 12 great- great-grandchildren. Mom fought a good fight, she finished her course and she kept the faith. She will be sadly missed by her family that she loved, by her church family at Faith Freewill Baptist and by her many friends and neighbors. FRED ALTISON BURNETTE, 76, of Dunlow, W.Va., passed away Friday, August 7, 2015, at Three Rivers Medical Center in Louisa, Ky. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 11, 2015, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, W.Va., with Elder Tommy Damron and Rev. Scott Burnette officiating. Burial will follow at the William Perry Cemetery, Dunlow, W.Va. He was born January 16, 1939, at Blakely, W.Va., a son of the late Claude Willo and Opal Belle Withrow Burnette. He was a retired custodian for the Wayne County Board of Education. Brothers Frankie, Jerry and Jimmy Burnette and sisters Rosie Burnette, Patricia Dumire and Marie Rice also preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Frances Perry Burnette; a daughter, Laura Burnette Brown (Robert) of Prichard, W.Va.; three sons, Scott Burnette (Shawna) of Fort Gay, W.Va., Mickey Burnette (Crissy) of Lavalette, W.Va., and Rocky Burnette (Amanda) of Dunlow, W.Va.; a brother, Billy Burnette of Cleveland, Ohio; and seven grandchildren, Whitney Brown, Sean Burnette, Cody Burnette, Haley Brown, Dylan Burnette, Kayla Marshall and Kendra Burnette; a special little dog, Little Bit; and a host of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. LORRAINE SMITH HAYNIE, 88 of Kenova, WV started her heavenly journey August 8, 2015. Her funeral service will be held Wednesday August 12, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova, WV with Pastor Randall Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. She was born May 27, 1927 in Kenova. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, Marie Mautz of Kenova and Troy Smith of Clintwood, VA; her grandparents Charles and Frankie Felty of Kenova; a precious daughter, Cathy Marie Cook and one sister, Louella Wagoner. Lorraine was a lifetime member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. She had worked as a sales clerk at the Potpourri in Ceredo, WV. Lorraine was a past worthy matron and a 50 year member of the Marcum Chapter # 61 Order of Eastern Star, Ceredo. Survivors include her loving and caring husband of 68 years, Robert V. Haynie; a son, Robert (Vicki) Haynie of Kenova; a son-in-law, Charles Cook of Huntington, WV; two sisters, Carrie (Joe) Szuba of Dearborn, MI, and Nell (Max) Hillman of Clintwood, VA; a brother, Tam (Diana) Smith of Pound, VA and a brother-in-law, Louin Wagoner of Gainesville, GA. Lorraine was a loving grandmother to 5 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at Rollins Funeral Home. MARY VANCE WILLIAMSON, 94, of Pee Wee Valley, Ky, formerly of West Hamlin, WV died August 8, 2015. She was born April 24, 1921 in West Virginia, a daughter of the late Owen Vance Sr. and Betty Maynard Vance. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Hi Williamson; daughter, Elsie Kay "Susie" Hager; sisters, Elsie Queen, Bessie Wiley, Lorene Manns, Dicie Norman and Helen Nelson Belcher; brothers, Mose Vance, Charlie Vance, Owen Vance, Paris Vance and App Vance. She is survived by a sister, Polly Hodge of Chapmanville, WV and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11:00am Saturday August 15, 2015 at McGhee-Handley Funeral Home, West Hamlin, WV with Charlie Paulsen and Wornie Meeks officiating. The burial will follow in the Queens Ridge Cemetery, Wayne Co., WV. A visitation will be two hours prior to the funeral.

PHILLIP MATTHEW RATLIFF, 44, of Harrisburg, N.C., passed from life on earth into the arms of his Heavenly father on August 9, 2015. He was surrounded by family and friends. His wife, Jenni, was at his side. Phil was a native of Louisa, Ky., a graduate of Lawrence County High School in Louisa and a graduate of Marshall University in Huntington, W.Va. He played football at Marshall from 1989 to 1992, was a two-time NCAA All-American Offensive Lineman, was captain of the 1992 National Championship team, and was inducted into the MU Athletics Hall of fame. Phil served as head football coach at Spring Valley High School, assistant football coach at James Madison University, and coached the tight ends at Marshall University before moving to UNC Charlotte in 2012 as recruiting coordinator and to coach the offensive line. He was truly respected in the coaching profession. Phil had a magnetic personality that touched the lives of everyone he met in some special way. He was of the Baptist faith and encouraged his players, students, and others to live life to the fullest. He was an example. Some of his favorite hobbies were hunting, fishing, golfing and, of course, football. But he felt the most joy when he could spend time with his wife and children and especially when he could be involved in his children’s activities. Phil loved his Lord, loved his family, loved his players, loved his friends and coworkers, and loved life. Left to mourn the loss of Phil but to cherish the many lasting memories are his loving wife of 21 years, Jenni, and their two children, Haley and Dylan of Harrisburg, N.C.; his parents Darrell and Sharon ratliff; brother Brian (Darla) ratliff and their children Josh and Caden; sister Melinda (Travis) feltner and their children Jackson and Kensley, all of Louisa, Ky.; mother-in-law Martha Hill of Madison, W.Va.; and a host of extended family members and friends. funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2015, at University Hills Baptist Church with rev. David Henderson officiating. Visitation was from 6 to 9 p.m. at the church on friday, August 14, 2015. A memorial service to celebrate Phil’s life will be held at the Halton Arena at 6 p.m. on Saturday, August 15 and all are invited to attend. GREGORY SCOTT THOMAS, 37, of East Lynn, W.Va., passed away as a result of injuries sustained in an ATV accident on Sunday, August 9, 2015. He was born June 22, 1978 in Huntington, W.Va., and was a welder. His grandparents Margie and Maxel Brooks, and Carrie Thomas preceded him in death. He leaves behind his parents, Kathy and Charles Fortner of East Lynn; two sons, Cameron and Nicholas of Lincoln County, W.Va.; one brother Kevin Fortner and his wife Maggie of East Lynn; several aunts, uncles, cousins; and many friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home with Brother Garland Perry officiating. Burial will follow in the Epling Cemetery. DELBERT LAFE HUNDLEY, JR., 46, Fort Gay, W.Va., passed away Sunday, August 9, 2015 at Three Rivers Medical Center. Born May 3, 1969 in Louisa, Ky, was preceded in death by his mother Charlotte Dee Wells Hundley. Delbert was a member the Pipeliners Union, Local 798, Tulsa, Ok. He leaves behind his wife, Ora Lee Ward Hundley of Fort Gay; his father, Delbert Hundley Sr. (Phyllis) of Wayne, W.Va.; one daughter, Hope Hundley of Dunlow, W.Va.; two sons, Wade Hundley and James Hundley both of West Liberty, Ky.; one step-son, Brian Brumfield of Logan, W.Va.; one step-daughter, Rachael Wiley Chapmanville, W.Va.; two sisters, Della Ferguson (Mike) Morehead, Ky., and Debbie Bowen (Danny) of Lavalette, W.Va.; one niece, Deidra Hall Olive Hill, Ky.; and four nephews, Danny Bowen Jr. Lavalette, David Bowen of Fort Gay, Michael Ferguson and Mason Ferguson, both of Morehead. ROY NORMAN McCLOUD, 70, of Wayne, WV, passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2015 at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington, WV. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel with Darrell Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in the McCloud Cemetery, Genoa, WV. Roy was born on January 27, 1945, in Wayne, WV, a son of the late John and Mary Alice Vance McCloud. He attended the Wayne Community Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Wanzella McCloud, son Roy McCloud, Jr., brothers Delbert Norris, Glen and Billy McCloud and a sister Plynia McCloud. Survivors include the mother of his four children, Freda Mae McCloud Dorlon, two daughters, Barbara Marshall of Huntington, WV and April Leigh McCloud Hammond (Bill) of Wayne, WV, son Joey McCloud and wife Shawnda of Dalton, Georgia, step-daughter Lora Cochran and husband Larry of Wayne, WV, step-son Floyd Blankenship and wife Leanna of Salt Rock, WV, sisters Jewel Flora of Huntington, WV, Shirley Marcum and Kathern Jordan of Wayne, WV, and brother Frank McCloud. PAUL EDWARD WEAVER, 60 of fort Gay, WV, passed away Monday, August 10, 2015 at his home. He was born May 5, 1955 in Philippi, WV to the Teddy and Thelma Weaver. He was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Moore-Weaver and one brother, David Weaver. He is survived by one brother, robert Weaver, two sons, Kevin and Scott Weaver both of fort Gay, WV, one daughter, Corissa Weaver of fort Gay, WV, two grandchildren, Aleah and Bradyn Weaver, and several nieces and nephews. He was a disabled coal miner. funeral services will be held Saturday, August 15, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Nestorville United Methodist Church in Philippi, WV with rev. HALEE MORGAN MARSHALL, 12, of Catlettsburg, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 10, 2015, near her home. Halee was born March 21, 2003 in Huntington, WV, she was the daughter of Mike and Shana Marshall. She attended Boyd County Middle School and was a 7th grader. Halee enjoyed listening to music and playing with her animals, but most of all she loved being with her family and especially loved her Grandmothers cooking. Halee had a beautiful smile that could light room when she entered, and she touched the lives of many. She is survived by her loving family, parents Mike and Shana, brothers Michael E. Marshall, Jr and Brandon L. Marshall, both of Catlettsburg, grandparents Roy and Wilma McCoy of Catlettsburg, uncles Bobby Marshall (Tammy) of Wayne, WV, Edward Marshall (Trina) of Wayne, WV, Loval (Brandi) Marshall of Ashland, and Kristopher Marshall of Wayne, WV, and aunts Jessica Marshall and Sherry (Jess) Rowe both of Wayne, WV. Halee was preceded in death by grandparents Glen and Linda Marshall. JUDITH ANN KIRK, 62 of Huntington, WV passed away Monday, August 10, 2015 at her residence. Judy was born January 1, 1953 in Huntington, WV to the late Lacy H. and Barbara Ann Woods Kirk. She was a former selector with Owens Illinois, Glass Bottling Company. She is survived one brother and his wife Matthew and Connie Kirk Lavalette, WV; a nephew Bart Kirk and his wife Emily and their children, Shelby and Sydney also of Lavalette, WV. Two cousins: Rebecca Shepard and her daughter Rebekah "Itty Bitty" Shepard, and Marie Dickey and her son Justin Dickey and host of friends, including, Andy and Judy Banfi and family, Sally Harless and John Bailey and family. She was also preceded in death special friend Sherry Bailey. Friends called from 6:30 pm until 7:00 pm Wednesday at the Reger Funeral Home. ARVIL JOHNSON, JR., age 43, of Ft. Gay, W.V., passed away Monday, August 10, 2015 at St. Marys Medical Center. Born November 11, 2015 in Columbus, Oh., he was the son of Arvil and Charlotte Brewer Johnson. In addition to his parents he is also survived by his wife Dorothy Sue Johnson of Ft. Gay, W.V., five sons; Robert Rector of Ft. Gay, W.V., Michael Rector of Gilbert, W.V., and Travis, Brandon and Keith Johnson all of Ft. Gay, W.V., four brothers; Haskel Johnson of Lexington, W.V., Steven and Chris Johnson both of Ft. Gay, W.V., and Josh Johnson of Charleston, W.V., one sister; Tina Johnson of Ft. Gay, W.V., and two grandchildren; Mikaylee Johnson and Sonnie Preece. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday August 14, 2015 at the Walnut Grove Church of Christ with Bruce Justice officiating. Burial will follow in the Messer Cemetery at Jennies Creek. SHARON LOUVELLA CALDWELL, 64, of Lavelette, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 10, 2015, in the comfort of her own home, surrounded by her family, friends and loved ones. Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Glen Kiah Williamson officiating. Sharon was born on April 21, 1951, in Kiahsville, WV to Ivan H. Caldwell of Lavalette, WV, and the late and dearly missed Siddy L. Vance Caldwell. In addition to her father, she is survived by her three sons: Steven Ray Baugh, Kristopher Ray Caldwell and Steven H Caldwell. She is also survived by her cherished sisters: Diana Tomblin, Yorkie Martin, Victoria Johnson, Sarah Plymale and Angela Caldwell, one brother Ivan "David" Caldwell and wife Robin, 16 nieces and nephews and 30 great nieces and nephews. She was a devoted mother, daughter and sister. Sharon was a woman who loved life and who wasn’t afraid to try new things. She was a champion pool player, a champion bowler, an avid shoe collector, and a saver of mementos, and even loved her McDonald’s Happy Meal toys. Her favorite colors were red and purple. Sharon’s memories will carry on for she has marked each of our hearts and will forever live on in ours. Special thanks go to Home Health Care and Hospice for all of their help in our time of need. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until service time on Thursday at the funeral home.

RODNEY DEAN SAWYERS, 65, of Wayne, WV, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, WV. Visitation was from 3:00 to 4:00 pm Friday, August 14, 2015 at Morris Funeral Home. A procession left the funeral home at 4:00 pm. Burial followed at Community Memorial Gardens at Wayne. He was born September 13, 1949 in Huntington, WV, a son of the late Troy and Louise Myrtle Burdette Sawyers. He was a former electrician for CSX railroad. Three brothers, Frank, Steve, and Larry Sawyers, and three sisters, Laura Adkins, Joann Holton and Linda Grant, also preceded him in death. REV. ARTIE RAY NAPIER SR., 99, of Huntington, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, August 13, 2015, in the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Born March 5, 1916, in Wayne County, W.Va., a son of the late French Sr. and Elizabeth Muncy Napier. In addition to his parents, his first wife Effie Lee Stephens Napier, five sisters and nine brothers also preceded him in death. A minister for over 70 years, and the founder of the Glorious Church of God, he spent his life preaching the gospel, singing and writing several books. Survivors include his wife Joyce Workman Napier of Huntington; two daughters, Ernestine Moore and Barbara Richardson, both of North Ridgeville, Ohio; two sons and daughters-in-law, Henry Lee and Darlene Napier of Elyria, Ohio, and Artie Ray Napier Jr. and Marlene of Grafton, Ohio; 18 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and 18 great- great-grandchildren. THELMA MAXINE OSBORN, 85 of Huntington, W.Va., passed away on August 16, 2015, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington. She was born February 7, 1930, a daughter of the late Edgar and Carrie Ketchum McComas. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Osborn; her only son Randy Thomas Osborn; four brothers, Herman McComas, Nick McComas, Rev. Herbert McComas, and Rev. Robert McComas. She was a clerk and cashier for several retail stores and a member of the Fifth Ave. Freewill Baptist Church of Huntington. She is survived by her daughters, Carrie Eileen Osborn and Carolyn Osborn of Huntington; and several nieces, nephews, and many friends. CHARLIE WALLACE RICKMAN, 75, of Huntington, passed away on Thursday August 20, 2015 at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington. She was greatly loved and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She was born on February 2, 1940 in Kiahsville, WV, to the late Fred and Maude Skeens Wallace. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings Esta Hale, Chloe Adkins, Laura Maynard, Virginia Casteel, Johnny Wallace, Joe Wallace and Emma Jean Wallace. Additionally, she had eight half siblings who preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Jack G. Rickman; two sons, Michael J. Stickler (Thelma) of Huntington and David L. Stickler (Betty) of Bidwell, Ohio and a daughter, Jennifer L. Adams (Lee) of Huntington. She is also survived by granddaughter, Ashley V. Maynard. In addition, she is survived by three step children including Stephen Rickman (Hanna) of Huntington as well as six step grandchildren including Stephen Rickman, Jr. and Shanna Rickman and a host of other family and friends. Charlie graduated from Wayne High School and Marshall University, where she obtained a Master’s Degree in Home Economics. She retired from WVU Extension Service with over 30 years of service, in which she served and enriched the lives of the people in Wayne and Cabell County. During her career, she received local and national awards for her dedicated service and obtained status; Extension Associate Professor Emeritus. She was a faithful member of New Baptist Church, formerly Beverly Hills Baptist Church, for 51 years. It was there that she formed and formerly directed the Food Pantry, which continues to provide meals to many in the Huntington community. She will be remembered for her giving and generous soul, who only wanted to help people in need and give back to her community with the knowledge and resources she had gained. She was married to Donald Osburn on May 24, 1947. Early in their married life she was employed by Sylvania, was a cook at Wayne Elementary School and was a clerk at Queen’s Department Store and Artis Department Store in Wayne, WV. After they moved to Proctorville, Ohio, she concentrated on taking care of their house and the love of her life, Don. She was a former member of Wayne United Methodist Church and Kenova United Methodist Church and was currently a member of New Hope United Methodist Church in Proctorville, Ohio. She was on various committees these churches and at New Hope she was a choir member, helped with the food pantry and was a greeter on Sunday morning worship services which she did with Don. She leaves behind her husband of 68 years, Donald, a daughter, Sandra Ann Brubeck (William) of Barboursville, WV, and son, Donald Ray Osburn (Tammy) Kenova, WV; three grandsons, Justin Wade Brubeck (Melissa), C. Michael Brubeck (Marybeth), and Michael "Micky" Osburn (Tammy); one granddaughter Stacy Lemaster (Richard); three great- grandsons, Jay Michael Cisco, Mason Brubeck, and Jaxson Lemaster; five great-granddaughters, Karli Brubeck, Annie and Ellie Brubeck, and Byrn and Brooklyn Osburn; four sisters Goldie Gilbert, Margaret McNeely, Jewel Thompson, and Wilma Jean Bryan; two brothers-in-law Elmer Mills and Harold Thompson of Benson; sister-in-law Billie Jean Osburn; along with numerous nieces and nephews. We, of course, wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful caregivers at Heartland of Riverview for the nine months of care to Ethel after her stroke. The personal, family like touches shown to patients of Heartland will be forever remembered. We would also wish to thank the wonderful people of the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington and the staff for their care and love shown to the family and Ethel in the last few weeks of her life. ALICE FAY WALTERS, 87 of Huntington, WV, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, August 22, 2015 at her residence. Funeral services were conducted at Noon on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Pastor Jeff Lycans; burial followed in Hillcrest Cemetery, Kenova. Alice was born June 16, 1928 in Dunlow, WV a daughter of the late Jessie and Virgie Perry Finley. She was also preceded in death by her husband George N. Walters, Jr., three brothers: Jay, Herman and Lones Finley, three sisters: Velma Maynard, Selma Copley and Audrey Walters. Alice was a member of Shepherd’s Fold Baptist Church and her greatest joys in life were her family, working in her flowers and on her farm. Survivors include her three daughters, Joyce (Don) Hampton, Beverly (Jeff) Lycans, Janet (Mike) McCarthy; six grandchildren: Brian (Susan) Hampton, John (Crystle) Hampton, Shelley (Curtis) Porter, Jason (Freda) Lycans, Laura (Jamie) Crum and Sunny Leigh (Justin) Day. In addition, the following great-grandchildren survive her , Halley, Macey and Owen Porter, J.D. Hampton, Carley (Ryan) Napier, Morgan and Tyler Hampton, Sophia Hampton, Silas Finley, Zion and Landi Crum, Kylie Day and great-great- grandchildren, Carson and Caleb Hampton; she also has two sisters-in- law, Betty Walters and Mabel Finley as well as a host of nieces and nephews. SPICY NAPIER PERDUE passed away Sunday, August 23, 2015 at the Boyd Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Ashland. She was born December 11, 1923 at Dunlow, Wayne County, WV to the late David F. and Hannah Adkins Napier. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Fred F. Perdue who she married May 15, 1946; a son, William F. Perdue; an infant daughter, Jane Ellen Perdue; two sisters, Ann Townsend and June Canady; and two brothers, David Napier and Tom Napier. Spicy is survived by her son, Michael F. Perdue and his wife, Janey, of Catlettsburg; grandchildren, Matthew F. Perdue of Frankfort, KY, Jonathan C. Perdue of Catlettsburg, Leslie A. Perdue and William A. Perdue of Charleston, WV; one sister, Corina Pennington of New Jersey and many nieces and nephews who will miss her greatly. She was an active member of the Poplar Street Church of God, caring deeply for her family and friends. Spicy quit school and went to work at the Owens Glass Plant. During WWII, she worked in Battle Creek, Michigan for Eaton Manufacturing polishing airplane parts, then at the Kellogg Cereal Co. She got her GED in 1966 and took classes in typing and bookkeeping, and sewing. She also worked at the C-K Senior Citizens Center from 1981 to 1991.Spicy was always busy. She enjoyed writing poetry, painting, sewing and playing her keyboard, picking out her favorite hymns and songs by ear. She especially enjoyed going to the cabin with her family and playing with her grandchildren when they were little, making many treasured memories for them. OSCAR REED BURNS of Labadie, MO, formerly Huntington, WV, departed this life at his daughter’s home in Labadie, surrounded by the love of his family, on August 23, 2015, having reached the age of eighty-one years, four months and twenty-two days. Oscar was born in East Lynn, WV, on March 31, 1934, son of James Ireland Burns, known to most as Ireland, and Mittie Burns nee Adams. On July 19, 1952, he was united in marriage to Willa Fay Smith and two daughters came to bless this union. Oscar is survived by one daughter, Vickey Engel of Labadie, MO; by four grandchildren, Amber Martin and husband, Trent, of Ashland, KY, Stephanie Mendenhall of Labadie, Thomas Engel and wife, Maggie, of Lonedell, MO and Christin Stahlman of Washington, MO; by seven great-grandchildren, one great-greatgrandchild, one brother-in-law, one sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Oscar was preceded in death by his parents, Ireland and Mittie Burns; by his wife, Willa Fay Burns; by one daughter, Teresa Burns; by one brother, Lakie Burns; and by two sisters, JoAnn Trimboli and an infant sister. Oscar was a Christian and long time member of the Church of Christ of Huntington, WV. He had lived in West Virginia throughout his life, until he came to live with his daughter about a year ago. During his working years, he was employed as a machine operator for Heiners Bakery of Huntington, WV, retiring after thirty-five years of service to the company. He was also a long time member of the United Bakery Workers Union, Local 21. Oscar was truly a family man and he was happiest when he was spending time with his daughter and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed caring for his home and enjoyed mowing his grass and working in the yard. The many wonderful memories he has created and love he shared with his family will be treasured memories forever. Oscar was a kind and generous person who impacted the lives of many, both friends and strangers. A Memorial Reception will be held at 12:00 noon on the 13th day of September, 2015, in the lower level Hall of the Church of Christ of Huntington, located at 2909 Route 75, Huntington, WV 25704, immediately following regular church services. All are welcome to attend. A Memorial Service in the Church proper will follow at 1:30 PM with Pastor(s) Bob Hayes and David Smith officiating. JOHN B. McNEELY, SR., of Huntington, passed away Monday August 24, 2015 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington. He was born January 12, 1931 in Logan County, WV, a son of the late Elbert and Clida Tulip Sauls McNeely. John was a veteran of the US Army and a member of the VFW Post 1064 of Huntington. He retired after 32 years of service as a carman with CSX Railroad and attended the Kellogg Holiness Church of God. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by two sons John McNeely, Jr. and Tracy Ray McNeely and three brothers Junior, Guy and Billy McNeely. Survivors include his wife of 62 years Adeline Fraley McNeely; two daughters Barbara Bailey and Cheryl Layne; two sons and daughters in law Guy and Sheral McNeely and Bruce and Marsha McNeely; twelve grandchildren; twenty seven great- grandchildren; two grea- great-grandchildren; sister Emmer Faye Harrison of Pontiac, MI and a host of nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends. MARGARET ALICE DONALD, 77, of Kenova passed away Monday, August 24, 2015 in the Cabell-Huntington Hospital. She was born January 27, 1938 in Wayne County, daughter of the late Frank and Ollie Thompson Hutchinson. Margaret was a member of the Spirit of Faith Church, President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the church, homemaker, mom and caretaker. Besides her parents she was also preceded in death by her beloved husband Walter Douglas "Sonny" Donald, granddaughter Jennessa Donald and a special sister-in-law Betty Williams. She is survived by six children Robert "Bunker" Donald (Jane) of St. Pete, Fl., Debbie Blankenship (Herb) of Kenova, WV., Brenda Crabtree (Tim) of Kenova, WV., James Donald (Vicki) of Ashland, Ky., Tawnia Mathis (Tim) of Prichard, WV. and Jessica Donald of Kenova with whom she made her home. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren and two very special cousins whom she considered her sisters, Phyllis Doss and Josie Watts. KENNITH "KENNY RAY " ADKINS, 65, of West Hamlin, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 28, 2015. He was born December 14, 1949 in Ypsalanti, Mich., a son of the late Clifford and Beatrice Adkins. Also preceding him in death was one brother Paul Adkins, and one sister, Linda Adkins. He leaves behind two daughters, Tracey Adkins (Buddy Casey) of South Point, Oh, and Tammie Hinton (Adam) of Columbus, Oh.; one son, David Isaacs of West Hamlin; three grandchildren, Mariah Casey, Payton Knox, and Clara Knox. Also surviving are four brothers, Robin Adkins, David Adkins, Phillip Adkins and Danny Adkins; four sisters, Gloria Tomblin, Cheryl Long, Gayle Tomblin, and Joyce Smith; and a host of friends and family too numerous to mention. WILLIE J. BROWNING, 74, of Lenore, WV, died Friday, August 28, 2015 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. He was born March 7, 1941 in Wilsondale, WV, a son of the late Carl and Mary Dalton Browning. Willie was a retired logger. Also preceding him in death were five brothers, Dewey, Carlos, Willard, Ed and Noah Browning. THOMAS MAYNARD, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2015 at Three Rivers Medical Center in Louisa, Kentucky. He was born on July 30, 1929 in Wayne County, West Virginia to the late Owen and Mae Maynard. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one son, Timothy Maynard and eight siblings, John B. Maynard, Clyde Maynard, Owen Maynard Jr., Wilma Damron, Ellen Damron, Florence Haney, Hildred Maynard and Emma Jean Maynard. Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Thelma Messer Maynard, three sons, Thomas (Marsha) Maynard Jr., Jessie Owen (Sherry) Maynard both of Kermit, West Virginia and Jerry Maynard of Fort Gay, West Virginia, five daughters, Teresa (Paul) Brewer, Janie (Walter) Dingess, Lisa Maynard (Nowell Fields), Tracy (William) Johnson and Chanda (Dwayne) Grace along with fifteen grandchildren, April Whitt, Ace Maynard, Angie Maynard, Michael Dingess, Timmy Brewer, Chris Brewer, Bryan Brewer, Jessica Maynard, Jeffery Maynard, Kelly Maynard, Jessie Maynard, Chanda Grace, Anthony Maynard, Coty Johnson and Cara Johnson and twenty nine great-grandchildren, Sydney Whitt, Gage Thomas Whitt, Morgan Dingess, Brady Dingess, Taylor Brewer, Lawson Brewer, Abriana Brewer, Kamayln Brewer, Asher Brewer, Brylie Brewer, Ciera Murphy, Erika Murphy, Brooke Murphy, Timmy Murphy, Cheyenne Maynard, Sam Maynard, Navaeh Maynard, Lexi Maynard, Mayzie Charles, Caitlin Grace, Carissa Grace, Cassidy Grace, Chance Grace, Rylea Maynard, Maddie Maynard, Corey Maynard, Payten Johnson, Tori Johnson and Caragan Barnett. Thomas is also survived by three siblings, Mary Perry of Fort Gay, West Virginia, Verlie Mae Marcum and Nary Jane Baisden both of Ohio. Thomas was a retired coal miner from the Pittson Coal Company and a member of the UMWA. Thomas was also a member of the East Kermit Church of God. He enjoyed gardening, coon hunting and especially being with his family. Thomas was greatly loved and will be greatly missed. Funeral services were held at the East Kermit Church of God in Kermit, West Virginia on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at 1 p.m. with Otis Linville officiating. Burial followed at the Carter Messer Cemetery in Jennies Creek, West Virginia. He worked at Wyler’s Steel and was a member of Salem United Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter Ethel Pauline, sisters; Earlie Hatcher and Nina Hardings, brother; Otis Williamson and step-brother Henry Williamson. Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years; Loretta Williamson, daughter Caroline Sue Romans of Michigan, sons Curtis Williamson Jr. and wife Terri of Charleston, WV, Otis Raymond Williamson of Michigan, two sisters Faye Damron and husband Forest of Lavalette, WV and Katie Thompson of Wayne, WV.
