She was born in Lavallette, West Virginia on February 27th, 1929; later moving to Lorain, Ohio in 1950 with her husband. Mary and Delmas were married in 1947 and relocated to Ohio when Delmas (commonly referred to as Dell) was offered a job with the Lorain Steel Plant. There in Lorain they raised their three children Eric, Alicia, and Denise. Her husband Dell and son Eric predeceased Mary. Mary’s life was filled with passion for her family– er positive spirit and humor radiated. Mary lived her life to the fullest through the raising of her children and devotion to her grandchildren. She had a wonderful impact on all those who knew her. She had an affinity for furniture restoration, hair design, collecting antiques, gardening, and enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes. Her children loved all the different cookies she made at Christmas too. Mary’s creative talent and enthusiasm in serving God was present in the stories she told of growing up on a Farm during the Great Depression and the hard work and commitment to family demonstrated by her parents Myrtle and Clyde. There were 12 children in the family and our mother often said that they laughed as hard as they worked. Mary lived her life to the fullest and will be missed by all that knew her. Heaven gained an angel when our beautiful mother started her ‘heavenly journey’. Mary’s legacy will live on through her daughters Alicia Marie and Denise Kaye as well as her beloved grandchildren—Heather Michelle Adkins, Molly Abbigail Watkins, Cara Elizabeth Watkins, Gillian Grace (GiGi) Kokai and last but not least twins Ian Armstrong Kokai and Aiden Luke Kokai who were the apple of their grandmother’s eye. Mary also loved her Second street family and often was quoted as saying, ‘I have the best neighbors and have loved living on this street’. We would also like to thank Karen and Rod Henderson for their devotion to our mother. A special thank you to Bob Hilko and Bill Resor for being there for our mother when she needed special errands run. We thank the whole second street family for helping our mother. She loved all of you! We would also like to note the care and compassion she received from her Cancer surgeon Dr. Simon Kim and his team of Specialists from the Seidman Cancer Center; with whom our mother experienced loving and exceptional medical care.
