GILBERT DINGESS, 87, of Kenova, passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2016, at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington. He was born Feb. 28, 1928, in Wayne, a son of the late Glenn and Hattie Maynard Dingess. Gilbert was a retired coal miner who had worked for Island Creek Coal. He was a member of the United Mine Workers Association for 65 years. He lived in Logan County, W.Va., for 62 years until he retired in 1991 and moved to Wayne County to live on his farm. Gilbert served his country in the US Army and members of American Legion Post No. 93 in Kenova will conduct military graveside rites. In addition to his parents, Gilbert was also preceded in death by a grandson, Jordan Dingess; two brothers, Henderson and Billy Dingess; and one sister, Molly Kinser. He is survived by his beloved wife, Irene Spry Dingess; his adored children, two sons, Dan (Peggy) Dingess, of Kenova, and Jim (Cathy) Dingess, of Huntington; one daughter, Kathy (Bob), of Chapmanville, W.Va.; a special niece/daughter, Karen Lunsford, of Huntington; 10 cherished grandchildren, Brad Dingess, Kara Hicks, Leanne Craft, Jonathan Dingess, Emily Meeks, Sarah Dingess, Lisa Adams, Curt Davis, Brittany Ascencio and Chelsey Lunsford; 14 precious great-grandchildren, Cayman, Cadara, Hunter, Amanda, Kendy, Victoria, Isaiah, Donnie III, Ethan, Connor, Makenzie, Liliana, Markus and Bentli; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family. Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 5, 2016, from 6-8 p.m. at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova. Funeral service will be Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, at 1 p.m. at Philadelphia United Baptist Church, located on Beech Fork Road in Lavalette, of which he was a member, with Elder Roger Maynard and Elder Tommy Damron officiating. LILLIAN ERNESTINE SCHUMANN OSBURN was born July 5, 1927, and died February 2, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Schumann and Josephine Stanley. She was also preceded in death by her stepfather, Clarence Stanley; her husband, Harold Osburn; and son, Bryan Osburn; two sisters, Charlene Runyon and Lucille Clothier; one brother, William Runyon; and many nieces and nephews. She is survived by daughter, Pamela (Robert) Gearhart, of Boonsboro Md.; son, Randy (Donna) Osburn, of Lavalette; daughter-in-law, Joan Osburn, of Lexington, Ky., and Tamara Lynn (Chris) Dunkle, of Lavalette. Also surviving are grandchildren Eric Gearhart (Kelly), Kirstin Gearhart, Natalie Osburn, Rebecca DeLong (Corey), Caleb (Kara) Osburn, Jamie (Josh) Adkins, John (IyanuOluwa) Dunkle, Scott Evans, Carolyn Evans, Tom (Crystal) Evans and Sarah (Matt) Surles; great-grandchildren Sawyer, Hannah, Colton, Noah,Wil, Joseph, Makayla, Madalene, Chaloe, Madison, Quinn, Oliver and Graeme. Ernestine's faith was in Jesus Christ as her Savior and she attended Wayne Community Church. She retired from Marshall University and worked at the Pentagon during WWII and was in the Civil Air Patrol. Ernestine was a fun-loving person. We want to acknowledge the staff of the Homestead Unit at Heritage Center, the staff of ICU Fourth Floor at Cabell Huntington Hospital, and caregivers Carol Wallace and Cheryl Lewis. Your care and compassion for our mother was appreciated. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne with Pastor Randy Osburn, Minister John Dunkle and Minister Eric Gearhart officiating. DORIS JEANNETTE HUTCHINSON, 81, of Huntington, widow of Robert Hutchinson, passed away Wednesday February 3, 2016 at Heritage Center, Huntington. Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Reger Funeral Chapel by Pastor Tom Baisden. Burial will follow in Docks Creek Cemetery, Kenova. She was born January 27, 1935 in Huntington a daughter of the late Oval and Opal Marie Hagerman Barr. Doris was a bookkeeper and she also worked at McCrory's Department Store and the American Legion Post 93 Bingo. Survivors include a daughter Kimberly "Berdawn" Hutchinson; two brothers and sisters in law, Edward and Barbara Barr and Gene and Anna Barr and numerous well loved nieces and nephews. KIMBERLY ANN LEWIS, 45, of Kenova, died February 3, 2016 at St. Mary's Medical Center. Service will be 11 a.m. Sunday at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Sunday at Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville.

SANDINA DAWN MAYNARD, 42, of Huntington, W.Va., went to be with the Lord February 4, 2016, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born May 5, 1973 in Miami, Fla., a daughter of Sandra Perkins of Huntington, and the late Harry James Perkins. Also surviving is her husband, Michael Maynard; two sons, Wesley and Trevor Martin; two brothers, Rusty Adkins of Huntington, and Jimmy Perkins of Ohio; and a host of friends and family. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, February 8, 2016 at Johnson Tiller Funeral home with Rev. Truman Maynard officiating. Burial will follow in the McClellan-Crum Cemetery. CLAYTON LEE GOUGE SR., 78, of Lavalette, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 4, 2016. He was born August 22, 1937, in Roaring Creek, N.C., a son of the late Luke and Bertha Hughes Gouge. His wife, Jackie Gouge, also preceded him in death; along with one son, James Gouge; one brother, Jeff Gouge; and four sisters, Dixie Rayburn, Mary Hatfield, Myrtle Stroughton and Loretta Pittman. He leaves behind two daughters, Bonnie Meadows, of Milford, Del., and Michele Clay, of Lavalette; three sons, Randal Gouge, of Barboursville, Dana Hudson and his wife, Dawn, and Clayton Gouge Jr., all of Gallatin, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren, Eric Elliott, Steven Evans, Jayson Parks, Brandi Jones, Brian Clay, Jessica Hudson, Kristen Hudson, Kayla Smith, Kylar Hudson, Jill Gouge, Amanda Gouge and Jacqueline Marie Gouge; and 14 great-grandchildren, Sawyer Elliott, Kylyn Elliott, James Napier, Benton Rucker, Braden Rucker, Benjamin Evans, Sierra Parks, Jack Parks, Jaylon Jones, Emilee Clay, Whitney Clay, Madison Kerr, Logan Priester and Aiden Zehnie. Also surviving is one sister, Novella Van Alman; one brother, Robert Gouge, both of Canton, Ohio; special friend Annie Moore, of Lavalette; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and family from all over the country who will miss him dearly. ALBERT EDWARD "POP" SANSOM, 93, of Huntington, passed away on February 4, 2016 at Huntington Health & Rehab. He was born on February 5, 1922 in Wayne County, W.Va., a son of the late Hershel Lee Sansom Sr. and Elsie May Frasher Sansom. Albert was an inspector for the WV Dept. of Highways. He proudly served his country in the US Marines and the US Army. He was preceded in death by his wife Eloise Christian Sansom; his sons, Homer and Paul Sansom; brothers, Howard, Junior, Tommy, Everett and Don Sansom; his sisters, Maxine Smith, Nora Queen and Gracie Queen; and three grandchildren. Albert is survived by his daughter, Sandra Sansom and his son, Lloyd Sansom (Debbie); 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Visitation for Albert will be on Sunday, February 7, 2016 at Ceredo-Kenova Funeral Home from 1 to 3 p.m. Funeral service will be conducted on Monday, February 8, 2016 at noon with McDonald Booth officiating. LAWRENCE "GOLDEN" NAPIER, 80, of Huntington, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday February 4, 2016 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm Monday at Sunshine Freewill Baptist Church by Pastor Jody Fortner. Burial will follow in Docks Creek Cemetery, Kenova, WV. He was born April 3, 1935 in Stiltner, WV, a son of the late Johnnie and Virgie Frazier Napier. Golden was a retired truck driver for Union Boiler with 33 years of service. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Christine Napier; children Darlene Napier, Lawrence Napier, James Napier, David Napier, Beverly Estep and Carol Greenlees; twenty two grandchildren and twenty five great grandchildren. THOMAS CHESTER COOPER , 73, of Huntington, brother of Juanita Prince, died Friday, February 5, 2016, at St. Mary's Medical Center. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Dr. C. J. Adkins. Burial will follow in Dock's Creek Cemetery, Kenova. Tom was born October 9, 1942, in Wayne County, West Virginia, the son of the late LeRoy and Marguerite Walker Cooper. He was a member of Westmoreland Baptist Church, where he attended all of his life. His survivors include his sister and caretaker, Juanita Prince; his brother-in-law, Martin Prince of Huntington; one cousin, Donna Clere; two nieces, Linda (Danny) Hughes, Tammy Samson; three great-nieces, Renee Samson, Deidre Samson-Jenkins and her husband James, Stephanie Samson; two great-nephews, Daniel (Sara) Hughes and Chris (Kimmie) Hughes; as well as three great-great-nephews and three great-great-nieces. GEORGE CECIL SMITH SR., 79 of Kenova, WV passed away at Cabell Huntington Hospital on February 6, 2016. He was born on January 23, 1937 in Wayne County, WV; a son of James Dewey Smith Sr. and Mamie Bell Neal. George was preceded in death by his parents and two daughters, Angela Dawn Smith and Willena Sheree Smith; his siblings James Dewey Smith Jr., Harold Smith, William Smith, Mary Kelley, Eugene Smith, Wilma Salyers and one infant that was unnamed. He leaves behind to mourn his loss his companion of 43 years, Patricia Mae Wickline; his children: George Cecil Smith Jr. (Christy), Betty Jane Lewis (Nelson), Randy Alan Smith, Timothy Scott Smith, Anna Lou Miller (Tim), Stephen Joseph Smith (Rita), Christy Michelle Helmer (David), and Shelley Yvonne Rowan (Mike). Also surviving are his 18 grandchildren: Jeff Smith, Jill Smith, Kelly Lewis, Lee Ramey, Melissa Fowler, Justin Smith, Jon Jon Smith, Emily Smith, Holly Smith, Angela Keim, Stephen Smith Jr., Corey White, Adam Cremeans, Danielle Henry, Shannon Helmer, Breanna Ross, Gary Harrison and Brianna LaFond; 29 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson. ALICE RACHEL GOODMAN, 85, of East Lynn, W.Va., passed away Saturday, February 6, 2016, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. She is now reunited with her husband, Ezra Goodman. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 10, 2016, at the Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel, Barboursville, with Elder Emual Adkins officiating. Burial will be in Ramsey Cemetery. She was born March 29, 1930, in East Lynn, a daughter of the late John and Luray Ramsey Brunty. She leaves behind her four children, five grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, three great- great-grandchildren, and one surviving sister, Dottie Whited. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. She will be deeply missed.

ZANE WETZEL PARSONS JR., 62 of Wayne, W.Va., formerly Kenova, W.Va., passed away Sunday, February 7, 2016, in Ashland, Ky. Graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 9, 2016, at Maple Hill Cemetery in Kenova with Pastor Scott Byard officiating. Zane was born May 26, 1953, in Augusta, Ga., son of the late Zane Wetzel Parsons Sr., and the late Betty Lou Reese Parsons. He was a retired Postmaster and a founder of the "Museum of Radio and Technology" in Huntington, W.Va. Zane is survived by his wife Susan Adkins Parsons. ALVA LYNN VANCE, 55 of Branchland, W.Va., husband of Debbie Jeffrey Vance, died February 7, 2016. He worked for the Pleasant View, W.Va., Public Service District. ELIZABETH MAE "Snookie" SARTIN, 68, of Kermit, West Virginia passed away at her home on Monday, February 8, 2016. She was born in Marrowbone, West Virginia on June 4, 1947 to the late Herbert and Effie Meade. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Hershel Sartin and one sister, Linda Williamson. Elizabeth is survived by three daughters; Deanna (Emory) Sturgell, Michelle (Rocky) Brewer and Jenta (Wayman) Cheung all of Kermit, West Virginia, six grandchildren; Evan Sturgell, Nathan Brewer, Austin Brewer, Olivia Chapman, Hayden Strugell and Mia Cheung along with two great-grandchildren; Maddie Sturgell and Jaxon Sturgell. She is also survived by seven siblings; Sheila Collins, Robert Meade, Sharon Nix, Johnny Meade, Jennetta Fichter, Jan Fletcher and Valorie Higginbotham. Snookie was a loving wife, comforting mother and a spoiling mamaw. She devoted her life to the children of Mingo County. She was a teacher, basketball coach, cheerleading coach, mentor and a loyal friend. She had a kind heart and a generous spirit. She was loved by all who knew her. Funeral services will be held at the Lighthouse Community Church in East Kermit, West Virginia on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at 12:00pm with Keith Brumfield, Jerry Newsome and Bryant Meade officiating. Burial will follow at the Sartin Family Cemetery in Marrowbone, West Virginia. Friends called at the church on Monday, February 8, 2016 starting at 6:00pm and all day on Tuesday, February 9, 2016. RALPH CLINTON FERGUSON, 89 of Seville passed away February 8, 2016 at the Apostolic Christian Home. He was born March 22, 1926 in Fort Gay, WV to the late Curtis and Tokey (Riggs) Ferguson. On October 23, 1955, Ralph married Nina Newcomer and together they celebrated 60 years of marriage. Ralph worked at Packaging Corporation of America in Rittman for 38 years, retiring in 1988. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, gardening, raising flowers and traveling. Ralph will be deeply missed by his wife Nina, daughter Susan (Dan) Hartman and grandchildren Bethany (Steve James) and Timothy Hartman, brother Maxie L. Ferguson of Belle, WV, sisters Phyllis (Howard) Crabtree of Catlettsburg, KY and Sarah Ferguson of Fort Gay, WV, sister-in-law Jean Ferguson, of Russell, KY. There are many nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by his siblings, Pearl, Raymond, Hubert, Elliott, Charles, Russell and Pauline. Family will receive friends 4 to 7pm Thursday February 11, 2016 at the Hilliard Rospert Funeral Home 174 N. Lyman St. Wadsworth, Ohio. RALPH DAMRON SR., 79, of Dunlow, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 9, 2016. He was born March 28, 1936, at Dunlow, a son of the late Lon and Mary Wallace Lovins Damron. Also preceding him in death were eight sisters, Eva, Nellie, Nora Belle, Hazel, Etta May, Virginia, Mary and Leona; and six brothers, Glen, John, Roy, Noah, Dave and Kurt. Ralph was a member of the Echo United Baptist Church of Wayne, the Laborers Local Union 543 of Huntington, the Jewel Lodge #140 AF&AM, and the Order of Eastern Star 160 Crum Chapter. He leaves behind his loving wife Dora Beckett Damron; five children, Teresa (Larry) Copley of Wayne, Ralph Jr. (Mary) Damron of Genoa, W.Va., Donna (Kenny) Blevins of Wayne, Timmy (Carol) Damron of Genoa, and Teri Beth Damron of Dunlow; six grandchildren, Michael (April) Copley of Wayne, Matthew (Courtney) Copley, also of Wayne, Jacob Damron of Genoa, Erica (Seth) Damron of Wayne, Kent Blevins (Amber Bowen) of East Lynn, W.Va., and Shelly Damron of Genoa; and five great-grandchildren, Ayden, Kylee, Daniel, Avah and Jenah. Also surviving is one brother, Paul (Janet) Damron of Ohio; special family Orlean Maynard, Charlie Boy Stewart, and Janice Damron; and a host of friends and family too numerous to mention. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, February 12, 2016, at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home with Elders Roger Maynard and Tommy Damron officiating. GERALDINE HARRIET STACY of Huntington, passed away at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington on February 9, 2016 at the age of 95. She was born September 23, 1920, in Red Jacket, WV to the late James Martin Parcell and Essie Mae Cooper Parcell. She was graduated from Matewan High School and Marshall University with a B.A. degree in elementary education. She taught for 15 years in the Wayne County school system. She was a member of the Westmoreland United Methodist Church. She also was active in Alpha Delta Kappa, a women educators sorority. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her two brothers James Parcell and William Parcell and three sisters Mildred Tate, Katheryn McKenzie and Virginia Crockett. She was married to Paul G. Stacy, who preceded her in death in 1997. She is survived by two nieces, LaDonna Crotty and her husband Bob Crotty of Lucasville, Ohio and Gloria Monckton of Fairhope, Alabama and two nephews, Glenn Parcell of Bramley, Hampshire, England and David Parcell of Groton, Connecticut, as well as several great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by special friends Cora Mead and Patty Ross, who helped care for her during the last year of her life and Loretta Hetzer and Minetta Rice. In addition she is survived by the staff of Wyngate at River’s Edge in Proctorville, Ohio, who cared for her and became like a family to her during the last year of her life. Funeral services were conducted at noon on Friday at the Reger Funeral Chapel by rev. Tom Nolen. Burial followed in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington. ELDER JAMES FORREST NAPIER, 81, of Wayne, W.Va., went to be with the Lord Wednesday, February 10, 2016, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va. He was born April 24, 1934, in Huntington, W.Va., a son of the late Albert G. and Dakota Mathis Napier. Also preceding him in death were French J. Napier, Ethel Bauman, Elder Richard Napier, Brother J.L. Napier and many nieces and nephews. He leaves behind his wife of 61 years, Willa Jean Spence Napier; three children, Jeanetta Napier Stalcup and husband, Tom, of Clermont, Fla., Forrest James Napier and wife, Kodee, of Groveland, Fla., and Patrick Lee Napier, of Huntington, W.Va.; eight grandchildren, Christopher Mills, Amanda Taylor, Nicholas Napier, Jenna Bright, Wayne Stalcup, Michelle Hansen, Kolbi Napier and Aidan Napier; 15 great©grandchildren, Julissa Mills, Indica Whitley, Christopher Mills, Kylie Sherrin, Garrett Hanks, Austin Stalcup, Cailen Napier, Graham Napier, Knox Napier, Jude Napier, Jagger Napier, Maeson Bright, Haiden Bright, Tristin Bright and Jenson Bright; and a brother, William F. Napier. James was retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers after 30 years of service, having served as manager of Grayson Lake, and was an ordained minister of the Baptist faith since 1977. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Grayson, Ky., where he served as master of the lodge for one year. He was also a member of the Commandry and York Rite. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 14, 2016, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, W.Va., with Elder Charles O. Adkins, Elder Tony Clay and Evangelist Luther Dingess. Burial will follow at Community Memorial Gardens, Wayne, with military graveside rites by American Legion Post 93 of Kenova. Friends may call from 6©9 p.m. Saturday at Morris Funeral Home.

BETHANY RAMEY, 29, of Lavalette, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 10, 2016. Born August 21, 1986 in Huntington, Bethany was a 2005 graduate of Wayne High School and a member of Faith Freewill Baptist Church, Lavalette. She leaves behind her parents, Darrell and Pamela Ramey of Lavalette; two sisters, Samantha Robinson and her husband Jerry, Wayne, W.Va., and Elizabeth Ramey of Lavalette; five brothers, Michael Ramey of Huntington, James Ramey of Kentucky, Ethan Ramey and his wife Tiffany of Barboursville, W.Va., Jacob Ramey, and Jim Bob Ramey, both of Lavalette; her forever boyfriend, Matty Eisner of Charleston, W.Va.; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at Faith Freewill Baptist Church with Pastors Ray Williamson and Charlie Spears officiating. Burial will follow in the Burke Family Cemetery. GLORIA JEAN SCOTT, 50, of Interlachen, Fl, formerly of Wayne, WV, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at her residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 15, 2016 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, WV, with Pastor Roger Perry officiating. Burial will follow in the Robert Vaughan Cemetery, Wayne. She was born October 20, 1965 in Huntington, WV, a daughter of Charles Robert and Sally Miller Bradshaw of Wayne, WV. Survivors include her companion, Joe Bennett; a sister, Robin Meddings (Anthony) of Wayne, WV; and a nephew, Chuck Bradshaw. LORRAINE EVELYN SOWERS WOLFE, 90, of Kenova, W.Va., passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2016, at Community Hospice in Ashland, Ky. She was born April 21, 1925, in Cumberland, Md., a daughter of the late Percy Earl and Christiana Brown Sowers. Lorraine worked for the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company in Washington, D.C., during World War II. She married the love of her life, the late Reggie E. Wolfe, and together they raised their family. She was devoted to her family and later volunteered at the Huntington VA Medical Center. Lorraine also enjoyed being a member of the C-K Civic Club. She was a member of Kenova United Methodist Church. She had a bright smile and a lively spirit and she will be greatly missed. Lorraine is survived by her cherished children, one daughter, Karen Reynolds, and her husband, Wayne; one son, Randy Wolfe, and his wife, Sherry; her much loved grandchildren, U.S. Army Cpt. Ryan Wolfe, who is currently stationed in Kuwait, and his wife, Brandi, Allison Ford and her husband, Jarred, Heather Strode and her husband, Ted, Sonya Wright and her husband, Jeff, Kevin Reynolds and Brian Reynolds and his wife, Tracy; six treasured great-grandchildren, Tucker and Tyler Strode, Grant Wright, Samantha Reynolds and Owen and Eli Wolfe. That should seem a little familiar to McConnell, or at least we hope it would, because he was one of the GOP senators who voted in favor of Kennedy’s appointment, which was confirmed 97-0. It has become an excuse to stall because party is valued before procedure. It’s a hold out until a guy you like a little better moves into the house up the street. If Scalia were the one presiding over this debate, we believe he would wholeheartedly agree that Obama has the constitutional right and obligation to nominate a justice. He was employed for Culbro Tobacco Co. for 17 years and then worked for South Windsor Board of Education for 11 years. Jeffrey was an avid setback and card player at the Windsor Locks Senior Center. He also enjoyed antique cars, fishing, and traveling to visit family and friends in West Virginia. In addition to his wife Esther, he is survived by three children, Ernest C. DENNIS LEE "DENNIE" DEAN, 85, of Kenova, W.Va., loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away Saturday, February 20, 2016, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, W.Va. He was born December 13, 1930, in Kenova, a son of the late Charlie and Hazel Davis Dean. Dennie served his country with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was an avid woodworker and made beautiful wooden furniture and also cut out wooden projects his wife would then turn into cute crafts, which they sold together at craft sales and festivals. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Dean, and two sisters, Mary Lou Miller and Lois Hatfield. JOHN FIELDING YOST, 66, of Prichard, passed away after a sudden illness on February 22, 2016 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. He was born: July 14, 1949 in Bluefield, WV, a son of the late Ralph and Nell Maynard Yost of Williamson, WV. He attended Williamson High School where he played football and basketball and is a member of the Williamson High School Athletic Hall of Fame, and attended the WV Institute of Technology on a football scholarship and has a degree in education. He taught and coached football for many years in Mingo and Wayne Counties. John was a retired teacher from Tug Valley High School and was currently a substitute teacher in Wayne County. He loved teaching and coaching and touched the lives of many. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Kenova, WV, where he was actively involved in church activities. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren. They were his life. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Brookie Maynard of Mingo County and John Witten and Pearl Mayo Yost of Mercer County, a number of aunts and uncles, and special friend Eddie Evans of Prichard, WV. DAVID NEIL BLATT, of Lavalette, W.Va., went to his heavenly Father at Arbors of Gallipolis, Gallipolis, Ohio on February 22, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. He fought a courageous battle against Alzheimer's. Dave was born February 20, 1935, in Huntington, W.Va., the son of the late Luke Anthony and Era Elizabeth Blatt who predeceased him. He worked in the dairy business along with his brother, Michael Blatt until 1986, when they accepted the U.S. Government's Buy-out Program. He was then employed by Huntington Interstate Milk Producers Association as Manager, for 10 years. He retired and decided to do lawn work for people in and around the Huntington and Lavalette area. Dave never saw a stranger and will forever be remembered for his robust and contagious laughter. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Roberta Fish Blatt and three children, Jeffrey Lewis Blatt (Heather) of Huntington, Brenda Gayle Parsons (Jeffrey) of Milton and Laura Elizabeth Simmons (James "Bo") of Lavalette. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Russell David Blatt (Christie) of Knoxville, Tenn., Betsy Elaine Davis (Brandon) of St. Albans, W.Va., Chester A. Maynard of Lavalette, Jacob Chase Parsons of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Rachael Brynelle Simmons and Tessa Rae Simmons both of Lavalette, and one great-grandson, Edward Jeffrey Blatt of Knoxville, Tenn. LILLY SHAE WATTS, 10 week-old daughter of Eric and Brandi Perry Watts of Prichard, W.Va., born with a rare genetic disorder called Lissencephaly, passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at Emogene Dolin Hospice House, Huntington. ARNOLD EUSTACE COLLINS, 74, of Huntington, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 26, 2016. He was born January 17, 1942 in Wayne County, West Virginia, a son of the late Grover and Myrtle Collins. Also preceding him in death were two brothers George Collins and Robert Collins, and two sisters, Margaret Ferguson and Violet Childers. Arnold attended the Mills Chapel, Buffalo Creek. He also loved spending time on his farm tending his horses and mules, plowing the gardens, and pulling the sled around. She was born December 8, 1935 at East Lynn, W.Va., a daughter of the late Arbie and Elizabeth Mills Casteel. Her husband Billy Joe Prichard also preceded her in death, along with one grandson, Steven Clay, a sister, Viola Frye, and brother, Archie Casteel. Lucille was a member of the Salem United Baptist Church and served over 20 years on the Wayne Town Council. She leaves behind her daughter, Brenda (Eugene) Clay; her son Billy Ray (Kathy) Pritchard, all of Wayne; six grandchildren, Kimberly Maxwell of Ky., Ronnie (Shelby) Staley of Wayne, Ashley Clay (Jamie Vance) of Huntington, Deanna (James) Smith, Crystal (David) Russell, all of east Lynn, and Isiah Clay of Wayne; 11 great grandchildren, Tyler Perry, Andrew Maxwell, Breanne Maxwell, Tanner Smith, Griffin Smith, Peyton Smith, Ronald Staley, Parker Staley, Dakota Russell, Whitney Russell, and Conner Russell; and one great grandchild, Bentley. Also surviving is one brother, Arthur (Marie) Casteel of East Lynn; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Lucille was deeply loved and will be missed by many. The family would like to extend a special thank you to everyone who helped care for her, including Angie, Missy, Trish, Vickie, and Katherine. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Johnson Tiller Funeral home with Rev. A. J. Perry officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. DALLAS SPAULDING, 74, of Genoa, W.Va., went away with a friend on Monday, February 29, 2016. He was born September 7, 1941 in Wilsondale, W.Va., a son of the late Thomas and Almira Williams Spaulding. Ten brothers and sisters also preceded him in death. Dallas was a retired foundry worker and a member of the Dunlow Freewill Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Elizabeth Ann Johnson Spaulding; one son, Arnold Kirk of Genoa; one daughter, Augustine (Andrew) Poteete of Nashville, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Robert Baulsir, Jonathon Baulsir, and Elizabeth Baulsir, all of Nashville. Also surviving is one sister, Pearl (Frank) Williamson of Wilsondale; special nephew Ked Spaulding of Dunlow; special niece Sally Wellman of Creston, Oh.; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and family too numerous to mention. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Dunlow Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Leroy Perry and Brother Russell Watts officiating.
