GREGORY JOSEPH THOMPSON, 39, of Fort Gay, husband
of Lori Ellerbee Thompson, died May 1, 2017 in Three Rivers Medical Center. He
was a mason in the construction field. There will be a graveside service 2 p.m.
Tuesday, Parsons Cemetery, Fort Gay. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday
at Young Funeral Home, Louisa, KY.
MAUDIE SKEENS MAYNARD “TOOTSIE” went home to be with her Lord and Savior on
Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00
p.m. Sunday, May 7, 2017 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne with Elders Roger
Maynard, Tommy Damron and Jeremiah Williamson officiating. Burial will follow at
Community Memorial Gardens, Wayne. She was born on May 11, 1933, a daughter of
the late Thurman Skeens and Verda Kirk Terry. She was a homemaker and was a
member of Echo United Baptist Church for over 50 years. In addition to her
parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, George Maynard;
brother-in-law, Kelly Browning and sister-in-law, Myrtle Estep. Survivors
include her two daughters, Deborah (Sam) Steele of Ft. Gay, WV; Lora Maynard
(Scott Brown) of Alum Creek, WV; a sister, Imogene Browning of Genoa, WV; three
grandchildren, Anna (Larry) Lucas of Wayne, WV; Heather Steele of Taos, New
Mexico; Jon (Mary Ann) Steele of Ft. Gay, WV; four very special great grandsons;
Caleb Lucas, Ethan Lucas, Elijah Steele and Ian Steele. Tootsie was a beloved
“Mother” to nearly everyone she met and a wonderful example of Christian love
and generosity. Visitation will be held from noon until service time Sunday at
the funeral home.
LARRY JOE HARLESS, 56, of Wayne, WV, passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2017.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Morris
Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne with Brother Matthew Stepp officiating. Burial will
follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Wayne. He was born September 24, 1960 at
Huntington, WV, a son of the late Henry Harless, Jr. and Selena Fae Cade Harless
Rowe. He was a retired employee of Consumers Gas Company and was a member of the
Big Creek Baptist Church. An infant sister, Sara Jane Rowe, and his uncle Muss
and aunt Lyda Perdue also preceded him in death. Survivors include the mother of
his children, Sheree Harless; daughters, Melissa Foster (Robert) and Megan
Harless (Garrett Mills), all of Wayne, WV; Amanda Collins (Joey) of Huntington,
WV; daughter Jordan; two sisters, Pam Barker (Rex) of Wayne, WV and Brenda Hair
of Barboursville, WV; five grandchildren, Canaan, Jayce, Braxton, Addisyn Foster
and Brady Collins, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be
one hour prior to service time Saturday at Morris Funeral Home. Dinner for
friends and family will follow after the services at Big Creek Baptist Church,
Wayne.
GARY PHILLIP "PHIL" MAYNARD, 42, of Lavalette, W.Va., went home to be with the
Lord on Tuesday, May 2, 2017, in Wayne, W.Va. Phil was born July 3, 1974, in
Massillon, Ohio, and resided in Wayne County most of his life. Phil was
disabled, which gave him time to spend with his beautiful wife and children. He
was the active President of the Wayne Community Center, a position he dearly
loved! He loved the community of Wayne, the people in it and most of all, the
children! He was the past President of Wayne Buddy Basketball, a program that he
believed in. Phil is survived by his wife, Sarah Maynard of Lavalette; his
children, Alyssa Ray (Dakota Parsons), Jamaylan Ray and Zane Maynard, all of
Lavalette, W.Va. He is also survived by his parents, Garland and Dorcas Maynard
of Wayne; mother-in-law, Erma Ray; grandmother, Imogene Browning of Wayne,
W.Va.; one brother, Les (Cheryl) Maynard of Wayne; Kelly Maynard, nephew
(special friendship); several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He
was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Kelly Browning, Jimmy and Garnet
Maynard, Gene Maynard, and two uncles, Ronnie Adkins and Howard Maynard. Phil's
viewing will be conducted on Friday, May 5, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Wayne Church
of God. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, May 6, at noon with
Pastor Toney Cox officiating. Burial will follow in Community Memorial Gardens
in Wayne, W.Va. Those serving as pallbearers are Randy Pratt, Bobby Lewis, Greg

SHIRLEY LEE HUNTER WATTS BAKER, 66, of East Lynn, W.Va., passed away at her
residence early Thursday morning May 4, 2017. Born November 14, 1950 at
Charleston, W.Va., Shirley was a homemaker. Her father, James Hunter preceded
her in death along with one sister, Carolyn Currington; and one brother, Gregory
Hunter. Survivors include her husband, Challis Brown Baker; her mother, Patricia
Kinney of Kenova, W.Va.; four children, Gregory Harold watts, Wade William
Watts, Patricia Sue Watts, and Abe (Martha) Watts; seven grandchildren, Amber
Watts, Wade William Watts Jr., Trevor Austin Watts, Kimberly Lynn Watts, Billy
Jo Watts, Gregory Tyler Watts, and Allison Cheyenne Watts; one
great-granddaughter, Paisley Jane Watts; and one sister, Nancy Parks.

JOE DAVID JORDAN, 68, of Ceredo, W.Va., passed away Thursday, May 4, 2017, at
the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, W.Va., surrounded by his
loving family. Joe was born June 25, 1948, in Kenova, W.Va., a son of the late
Claude and Aliene Ross Jordan. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded
in death by his brother, Gary Jordan. He was the owner/operator of The Party
Shop in Ceredo where he was a mentor and teacher to many of the young men and
women of the surrounding communities. Joe taught them about the game of pool and
also about life. He showed them how to treat other people by feeding them,
giving some of them a place to sleep and by listening and caring for them. He
passed his love for the game on to those who came to The Party Shop and to his
beloved grandchildren. Joe was a faithful husband to his wife of 47 years, Dinah
Kay Dean Jordan. He was also a devoted father, grandfather and
great-grandfather. He was a friend to all who knew him and will be sadly missed.
Joe loved his community and he was a past member of the Ceredo Volunteer Fire
Department. He was one of the first responders to arrive at the site of the
Marshall plane crash. He is survived by his wife, Kay, and three daughters and
sons-in-law, Kimberli and Glenn Wilson, Kristi and Joe Hamm and Kelli and Kevin
Koeppen; grandchildren, Jayson, Jaycob, Aaron, Andrew, Michael, Meredith and
Dayton; great-granddaughter, Taegan Joe, and soon to arrive Baby Wilson.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, May 6, 2017, at the Church of
Christ, of which he was a member, 1801 Chestnut St., Kenova. Funeral services
will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 7, 2017, at the church, with Minister
Chris Stevens officiating and Minister Joe Alley assisting. Burial will follow
at Docks Creek Cemetery. Rollins Funeral Home is assisting the Jordan family.

JAMES RONALD NAPIER, 69, of Huntington, W.Va., passed away Thursday, May 4,
2017, at home. James was born July 12, 1947, in Wayne County, W.Va. He was
preceded in death by his father William Edward Napier Jr., and a brother,
William "Eddie" Napier III. James is survived by his mother Hazel Hale Napier;
three children, Brian (Patti) Napier, Veronica Napier and Jamie Glover; two
sisters, Linda (Tiny) Clark, and Mary Triplett; nine grandchildren, Trina,
Amanda, Caleb, Joey, Zack, Kelley, Jon, Joey and Abigail; many
great-grandchildren, nieces, family, and friends that will miss him. There will

NATHAN BRYSON HARSHBARGER, 54, of Huntington, died Thursday, May 4, 2017 at
Cornerstone Hospital, Huntington, WV. He was born October 8, 1962 in Milton, WV,
a son of Wanda Fay Lewis Harshbarger and the late Ernest Eugene Harshbarger.
Nathan worked Customer Service for Tower Food Fair in Barboursville. Additional
survivors include three sisters, Tera Harshbarger, Tamala Ryder, both of Milton,
WV, Aliza McFann of Lesage, WV; his nieces and nephews, Alexis and Donavan
Dillon, Brandie and Breyanna McFann, Katherine and Cameron Wesson and Kaden
Ryder; a great niece and nephew, Gracylin McFann and Steele Wesson; and a very
special friend, Seth Frank. Funeral services will be conducted at 5:00 pm
Monday, May 8, 2017 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, WV, by Rev. Wendell

ANITA LOUISE PASLEY TRAUTWEIN, 69, of Wayne, passed away on May 5, 2017 at
Cleveland Clinic. She was the daughter of the late Eugene and Gladys Pasley.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at
Morris Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Doug Thompson. Burial will follow at
Community Memorial Gardens. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in
death by her husband Jerry Trautwein and one granddaughter, Jessica Leann

MICHAEL BLEVINS, 65, of Wayne, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 5,
2017 at home. He was born October 2, 1951 at Paintsville, Ky., a son of the late
Russell and Eunice Blevins. Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Paul
Brian Blevins and Lon C. Blevins; and one sister, Lenore Ratcliff. Mike was a
retired truck driver and a member of the Camp Creek Church of Christ.
He leaves behind his loving wife Evelyn Skeens Blevins; three step-children,
Steven (Missy) Skeens of Wayne, Missica (Matt) Skeens of Barboursville, W.Va.,
and Edna Skeens of Wayne; and three special grandchildren, Kendra Jenay Skeens,
Brayden Lee Garrick Pullen, Hanna Marie Skeens. Also surviving is one sister
Francis Sue (Clarence) Lemaster of Paintsville; special nieces, Deborah (Dean)
Kilgore and Paige (Tyler) Swigger of Paintsville, all of Paintsville; two
nephews, Lester Lemaster of Paintsville, and Chris Blevins of Finley, Ohio; and

On Saturday, May 6, 2017, DAVID O. PERRY, 85-years of age, passed away at the
Savannah Cove Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Maitland, Fla. David
was born on June 14, 1931, in Wayne County, West Virginia, to the late Albert "AJ"
and Thelma Perry. He was also preceded in death by a son, David Allen Perry; a
daughter, Deborah K. Perry; and a sister, Barbara J. Morrone. David is survived
by his wife Dorothy; one son, John Perry; a grandson, John Perry Jr.; two
granddaughters, Patricia Ridel and Crystal (Steve Michael) Elton;
great-grandchildren Tara Ridel, Danial Ridel, Stefenae Elton, Shyanne Elton and
Kayla Elton, all of Akron, Ohio. David is also survived by sisters Juanita
Staten of Prichard, W.Va., and Mable (Larry Jack) Smith of Kenova, W.Va.;
brothers Albert Jr. (Louise) Perry of Wheat Ridge, Colo., Richard Perry of
Kenova, W.Va., and James H. "Jim" Perry of San Diego, Calif. David was retired
and has lived in Orlando, Fla., for the past 50 years. He was a veteran, having
served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Military honors will be
performed by VFW and American Legion of Louisa, Ky., at the grave site. Prior to
moving to Florida, David lived for many years in Fort Gay, W.Va. He was a mason
and a member of the Vinson Masonic Lodge, Fort Gay, W.Va., whose members will
perform final rites at the grave site. Funeral service will be conducted at
Young Funeral Home, 201 W. Main St., Louisa, Ky. Visitation will be from noon
until 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2017. Funeral services will commence at 2 p.m.
with the rev. Tim Preston officiating. Burial will follow at the Fort Gay
Cemetery, Fort Gay.
RUSH DEE MOORE, 76, of Wayne, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 7,
2017. He was born August 5, 1940 at Wayne, W.Va., a son of the late William and
Eloise Ferguson Moore. His wife Eloise Moore also preceded him in death, along
with seven brothers, Kenneth Moore, James Moore, Elsworth Moore, J.C. Moore,
William Moore, Roy Moore, and Winston Moore; one sister, Verlie Mooring; and
special family member, Pam Wosham.He leaves behind two sons, Brady Michael
(Angela) Moore of East Lynn, W.Va., and William Enoch Moore of Wayne; two
daughters, Bertha Verdis (Eugene) Cochran of Wayne, and Jacqueline (James) Bowen
of Lavalette, W.Va.; eight grandchildren, Tiffany (Tim) Mennell, Whitney Moore
and her fiancé Adam Weaver, Joshua Albright, Shawn Moore, Brandon Bowen,
Brittany Bowen, Heather Cochran, and Luke Cochran; two great grandchildren,
Carlee and Perry Mennell; two step-grandchildren, Ryan Williams, and Mikala

ETHEL TOMBLIN RAMEY, 82, of Zephyrhills, Fla., passed away May 8, 2017 at
Florida Hospital in Zephyrhills. She was born November 28, 1934, in Dunlow,
W.Va., to the late Robert and Cora (Spry) Tomblin. Mrs. Ramey was a retired real
estate broker. Funeral services will be conducted at Morris Funeral Home Chapel
at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 13, 2017 with burial following at Community Memorial
Gardens in Wayne, W.Va. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by
her husband George L. Ramey; two brothers, Elmer Tomblin and Paul Tomblin; and
three sisters, Thelma Tomblin, Lucille Tomblin Ramey, and Lorene Tomblin Spence.
Survivors include her sisters, Esta Watson and Stella Coleman, and many special

MICHAEL CHRISTIAN, 63, of Huntington, passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2017, in
Cabell Huntington Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday,

officiating. Interment will follow in Spring Valley Memory Gardens. He was born
May 4, 1954, in Mansfield, Ohio, son of the late Alvis Christian Jr., and Nancy
Bellomy Christian. Mike was a former employee of the N&W Railroad and Lowe's of
Barboursville. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandmothers
Lona Bellomy and Sadie Christian. Survivors include his beloved wife Judy E.
Christian; one daughter, Christina Workman; two sons, Tony Christian (Melissa)
and Tyler Christian (Ashley Lawrence); six grandchildren, Alyssa, Joshua, Annie,

his wife of 15 years, Lakisha Brooks Caldwell. He was born March 14, 1980 in
Huntington, W.Va., and was employed with Orica Ground Support. Also preceding
him in death was one sister, Meshell Lynn Coleman; and grandfathers, William G.
Caldwell and Oley “Mouse” Harvey. He leaves behind his precious sons, Isaiah
Nathaniel Caldwell and Adam Chase Caldwell; his parents, Roy (Rebecca) Caldwell
of Wayne, and Judy Harvey of East Lynn; one brother Obie Gene Caldwell of East

MADELEAN VANCE, 91, of Okeechobee, Fla., and Huntington, W.Va., passed away on
Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at the Lawn Wood Regional Medical Center, Fort Pierce,
Fla. There will be a graveside service 2 p.m. Thursday, May 18, 2017, at Oaklawn
Memorial Park, Huntington, W.Va., conducted by Father Paul Yuenger. Madelean was
born on August 9, 1925, in Huntington, W.Va., the daughter of the late Bryan and
Rose Napier. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her
husband of 66 years, William Paul Vance, brother, Edgar Napier, and son-in-law,
William "Bill" Carroll. Madelean graduated from Huntington High School and
Robert Edwards School of Modeling in Los Angeles, California. She attended
Marshall College and Boston University. She was a bookkeeper and manager of the
Huntington Athletic Club, a retired office manager at the Guthrie Memorial
Hospital and a co-owner of the Lone Oak Tavern. She was a pilot in the Civil Air
Patrol, an avid sports car enthusiast and boater. She was a member of Jaguar of
North America, TOSCE: The Organization of Sports Car Enthusiasts, Fort Pierce,
Fla., Yacht Club, the Stardust Dance Club and past president, the Millennium and
Okeechobee Dance Clubs, the American Legion Post 16 and a lifetime member of
Post #9788 in Okeechobee, Fla. She was past president of the Aqua Garden Club
and chairwoman for the WV Council of Garden Clubs. She was a beautiful lady who
enjoyed fashion, gardening and ballroom dancing. She is survived by her
daughter, Pamela V. Carroll; two grandsons, William T. Carroll III and Mark
Vance Carroll; one brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Linda Napier; and nephews

FLETCHER PACK JR., 84, of Lavalette, WV passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at
Huntington Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be held at
2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne with Pastor
Otis Bowen and Jody Lucas officiating. Burial will follow at the Four Oaks
Cemetery, East Lynn. He was born on November 16, 1932 in East Lynn, WV a son of
the late Fletcher Pack and Mary Ann Napier Smith. In addition to his parents, he
is preceded in death by his first wife, Delphia Pack and 2nd wife Linda Adkins
Pack; sister Dolly Ross and two brothers Ernest and Walter Ferguson. Fletcher
was a United States Army veteran. Survivors include his loving sister, Eskalene
Pennington of Wayne; two brothers, Elba Ferguson and Willard Smith, Jr and
several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the
service on Tuesday.
ANAGENE WOOTEN GIBBS, Jan. 28, 1922 - May 12, 2017, died peacefully at her home
in Huntington, W.Va., among family and friends on May 12, 2017. She was
ninety-five years old. Anagene worked at Providence Hospital in Waco, Texas, and
St. Mary's Hospital in Huntington, from where she retired after eighteen years.
Following retirement, Anagene worked several years for the State Park System in
South Carolina. Anagene was a member of various Baptist churches in the places
she lived, but her first and ultimate membership and true church home was First
Baptist Church of Ceredo, West Virginia. In her younger years, she was active in
church choirs and often sang solos and duets on Sunday mornings. Anagene was
preceded in death in 2007 by her husband of forty-nine years, Thomas H. Gibbs,
and her sister, Kathleen Marcum, in 2016. Anagene is survived by her two sons,
Tom Gibbs and wife Sara and Tim Gibbs and wife Gladys; her two grandchildren,
Heather Gibbs Dougherty and her husband Ryan and Jason Gibbs and his wife
Kristi. She is also survived by her sister, Hermalee Matney and husband Ed.
Other family includes nieces and nephews, grandnieces and -nephews and
great-grandnieces and -nephews. The family gives special thanks and deep
appreciation to Anagene's caregiver, Ms. Janet Ray of West Hamlin, W.Va., and
the staff of Hospice of Huntington for giving her compassion and dignity in her
final days. Anagene, like her husband, Thomas, before her, donated her body to
the Marshall University Medical School. At this time, no memorial service has

Burial will be in Ross Cemetery. She was born September 15, 1924, in Logan,
W.Va., a daughter of the late Sidney and Evelyn Bartram Trent. She was also

She is survived by two daughters, Shirley (Jerry) Wetherholt of Huntington and

PATRICIA DALE ADKINS WORKMAN, 72, of Kenova, W.Va., passed away Monday, May 15,
2017, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington. She was born December 4, 1944,
in Detroit, Mich., a daughter of the late Otha and Ananell Ferguson Adkins. She
was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who spent her life caring for her
family. Dale attended Buffalo Valley Independent Missionary Baptist Church. In
addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Ronald Ray
Workman. Dale is survived by her beloved husband, Howard Ronald Workman; one son
and daughter-in-law, Randall Scott (Lee Ann) Workman of Kenova, W.Va., and one
daughter, Ronda Kay Wellman of Kenova, W.Va.; her cherished grandchildren, Jacob
(Lindsey) Wellman, Jonah Wellman, Chandler, Scottie, Faith and Grace Workman;
three brothers, Emmett Adkins, Ray Adkins and Charles Adkins; and a host of

ORVILLE DAMRON, 88, of Wayne, W.Va., went to be with the Lord Monday, May 15,
2017, at his residence. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, May 19, 2017, at
Morris Funeral Home Chapel by Elders Tony Clay, Roger Maynard and Tom Watts.
Burial will follow at Community Memorial Gardens, Wayne, W.Va. He was born March
25, 1929, in Wayne, W.Va., a son of the late Samuel and Peggy Ray Damron.
Orville was retired from the Laborers Local #543. He was the Pastor of the Echo
United Baptist Church, where he took membership in August of 1959, after the
church's organization in July of the same year. Although Orville was the Pastor
and longtime member of Echo, he moderated and served as Assistant Pastor of
several other churches through the years. He preached and fellowshipped with
churches throughout West Virginia, Kentucky and Ohio. He loved all, was
reasonable and easy to be entreated with. Orville loved the fellowship of Christ
with everyone and has labored hard in the Gospel of Christ. He tried to treat
all as Christ would. He was always faithful to the church and loved to worship
with fellow Christians. Orville was preceded in death by a son, Larry Dale
Damron; eight sisters, Mary Robinson, Dovie Napier, Opal Wallace, Ida Napier,
Erie Pack, Ruth Nugent and infants, Effie and Oneda Damron; five brothers, Noah,
Cullie, Forest, Sam, Wilmer Damron. Survivors include his loving wife of 64
years, Billy Jo Napier Damron; a daughter, Barbara Engelman and husband Bob of
Grafton, Ohio; two sons, Jerry Michael Damron and wife Debbie of South Point,
Ohio, Tommy Damron and wife Jill of Dunlow, W.Va.; a sister, Mollie Maynard of
Wayne, W.Va.; two brothers, Darrell Damron of Prichard, W.Va., Tommy Damron and
wife Kathleen of Lavalette, W.Va.; six grandchildren, Michelle Callen, Sara Jo
Berryman, Jason Damron, Nick Damron, Savannah and Cheyenne Engelman; seven
great-grandchildren, Jordyn and Jaxson Damron, Kennedy and Kendra Callen, Riley

RICHARD ELLIOTT BURKE “DICKIE”, 79 of Norwalk, Ohio passed away on Monday, May
15, 2017 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday,
May 20, 2017 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne with Brother Hiram Justice
officiating. Burial will follow at the Greasy Ridge Cemetery, Dunlow with
military graveside rites conducted by American Legion Post 93, Kenova. He was
born on July 31, 1937 at Taylorville, WV a son of the late Elliott Burke and
Malinda Ferrell Burke. He was a former press operator for Robin Industries and
was a United States Army Veteran. Dickie was an avid Nascar fan and enjoyed
restoring cars in his spare time. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in
death by his wife, Henrietta Maynard Burke; brothers, Billy Joe and Alex Burke,
sisters, Gladys Burke and Juanita Ellis and sister-in-law, Erie Milum. Survivors
include his son, Richard A. Burke “Tony” (Anita) of Norwalk, Ohio; sister, Mary
Ann Hamilton of West Augusta, VA; three grandchildren, Nicole Smith (Chaz) of
Sheffield Lake, Ohio; Christopher Pratt (Megan Powell) of Bellevue, Ohio and
Samantha Pratt (Darrin Shepherd) of Greenwich, Ohio; four great- grandchildren,
Isabella “Bella”, Jeremiah, Jaxon and Korbin; special niece, Wanda Lambert and
special caregiver, Betty Hoover. He is also survived by numerous other nieces

OBBIE SPENCE, 70, of Wayne, W.Va., passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at his
residence. He was born May 11, 1947, at Stiltner, W.Va., a son of the late Basil
and Dorothy Adkins Spence. He worked as a drywall contractor and was a member of
the local painter's union in Huntington. A sister, Mary Sula Smith, also
preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Donna M. Birkbeck
Spence; three sisters, Willa Jean Napier and Justine Frazier, both of Wayne,
Albina Trogdon (Paul) and Chloa Wallace (Cletis), all of Fort Gay, W.Va.; three
brothers, Odell Spence (Geneva) of Marshville, Ohio, Odis Spence of Fort Gay,
W.Va., and Basil Spence Jr. of Wayne, W.Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Obbie was best known for his humor and kindness and his love for "Fireball"
candy. He will be missed by all who knew him. Private services will be held by

BEATRICE MARIE EAGLESTON, 90, formerly of Ceredo, went to be with the Lord on
May 16, 2017. She was a resident of Lucasville, Ohio, where she had made her
home for several years. She was born in Johnson County, Ky., on May 13, 1927, a
daughter of the late William Wesley Kretzer and Nannie (Cartmill) Kretzer. "Bea"
was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mordecai "Mort" Eagleston; her
siblings, Homer, Clarence, Bill, Josephine and Bob Kretzer. "Bea" attended Grace
Missionary Baptist Church of Ceredo and was a member of Madison Missionary
Baptist Church of Minford, Ohio. She was a member of Ceredo-Kenova High School
Class of 1946 and was a pharmacy clerk and homemaker. Funeral services will be
conducted on Friday, May 19, 2017, at 1 p.m. with Mike Akers officiating at
Ceredo-Kenova Funeral Home, with visitation two hours prior. Burial will follow
at Hillcrest Cemetery, Kenova. She is survived by her daughter with whom she

the arms of Jesus on May 16, 2017, in Texas. He leaves behind his mother,
Birchie L. Booton; two children, Penny D. Johnson (Robert) of North East, Pa.,
and E. Duane Blankenship (Toni) of Nederland, Colo.; one brother, Terry L.

LUCIAN THURMAN FRY JR., 49, of Chesapeake, Ohio, passed away suddenly on

WILLIAM THOMAS HALE, 75, of Wayne, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday,
May 17, 2017 at home. Born December 23, 1941 at Wayne, William served our
country honorably in the U.S. Army and retired from Turman Construction.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Gladys Robertson Ball and George
William (Elizabeth) Hale; four brothers, Andy Ray Hale, Charles Bernard Hale,
Wallace Ball, and Ronnie Ball; two sisters, Brenda Lou Rickman, and Mary Ann
Smith; and one son, Charles Edward Bing, Jr. He leaves behind his wife Sandra
Jean Hale; eight children, Tamara (Glen) Stephens, Sonya (James) Wheeler,
Charles Kitts II, Lora (Marc) Hale, Larry Propps, Rhonda (John) Rickman, William
Hale, and Jennifer (Chris) Adkins; 20 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

loving wife, mother, mamaw, grammy and friend to so many that loved her. She was
preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Anna Ruth Workman, two brothers,
Garrett and Charles Workman, and a very special friend, Carol Sammons. She

23, 1940, and was preceded in death by her parents, Noah and Louise Browning;
and husband, Lawrence "Doc" Corns Jr. Barbara lived a full, happy, Christian

May 23, 2017 at Wayne Nursing and Rehabilitation Center . He was born January
22, 1930 at Wayne, a son of the late Leonard and Lilly Dyer Chaney. His wife
Arminda Chaney also preceded him in death along with one sister, Goldie Adkins,
one son, Oshel Chaney, and one granddaughter, Amanda Clark.
He leaves behind two sons, Merle Chaney of Branchland, W.Va. , and Elisha Chaney
of East Lynn; three grandchildren, Lisa Stephens, Josh Chaney, and Jessica
Jeffery; seven great-grandchildren, Cassie, Lilly, Jayden, Brandon, Katlyn,
Sabrina, and Cassedy; and one great-great granddaughter, Alayaha. Also surviving
is two sisters, Delpha, and Hazel; and a host of friends and family too numerous

TERRY DEAN DILLON, 54, of Hamlin, W.Va., passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2017,
in Huntington, W.Va. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, May 28,
2017, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, with Pastor Michael Dillon and
Bishop Toney Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Community Memorial Gardens.
He was born May 4, 1963, in Detroit, Michigan, a son of Lee and Faye Deskins
Dillon of Genoa, W.Va. He was a member of the Laborers Local Union 543,
Huntington, W.Va. Terry was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents,
Riley and Wilda Dillon; maternal grandparents, Nathan and Nancy Deskins; and
sister, Carolyn Dillon Fry. In addition to his parents, he is survived by two
daughters, Jannah Dillon of Huntington, W.Va., and Shannan Dillon of Culloden,
W.Va.; two sons, Jordan and Mason Dillon, both of Hamlin, W.Va.; four sisters,
Andrea Damron of Chesapeake, Ohio, Melinda Smith (Tommy) and Sherry Gilkerson
(James), all of Lavalette, W.Va., and Melissa Plymale (Alec) of Huntington,
W.Va., and one brother, Randy Dillon (Jonora) of Milton, W.Va.; the mother of
his children, Yolanda Molina; and many friends and family too numerous to
mention. Terry loved his children beyond measure and loved talking about them,
their lives and accomplishments. He also had four dogs he treasured; they will
all be missing him as well. Terry was loved by all who knew him; he was a giver
with a heart of gold and never asked much of those he loved. We will all miss
him dearly. Visitation will be held from noon until service time Sunday at the
funeral home.
MARY JEANETTE MAY, 79, of Branchland, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord on

survived by her husband, Gerald May; two daughters, Debora Dutton and her
husband George Jr. of Huntington, and Ella "Penny" May of Branchland; one
sister, Emma "Peg" Watts of Branchland; three special "grandkids," Braden, Abram

EDITH THOMPSON, 64, of Huntington, W.Va., formerly of Fort Gay, W.Va., passed
away Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Huntington Health and Rehabilitation Center. She
was born May 1, 1953, a daughter of the late Homer and Haley Maynard Thompson.
One brother, Virgil Thompson also preceded her in death. She leaves behind two
brothers, Robert Thompson of Kenova, W.Va., and Pearly Thompson. Funeral

GEORGE HARVEY ROSS, 87, of Wayne, WV passed away on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at

the late Taylor L. Ross and Tennessee Napier Ross. George was a retired
machinist and a member of Bethany Church in Kenova. In addition to his parents,
he was preceded in death by his wife, Ratchell Emogene Ross and sister Bessie
Pniewski. Survivors include his daughter, Barbara Kane (Rob) of Elyria, Ohio;
two sons, George Harvey Ross, Jr. (Sue) and James “Bobby” Ross (Kim) all of
Wayne, WV; two sisters, Martha Zona (Al) of Medina, Ohio and Dorothy Chapman of
Nashville, Tennessee; four brothers, David Ross of Welaka, Florida; Fred Ross of
Kenova, WV; Boyd Ross (Charlene) of Medina, Ohio and Tillis Ross (Audrey) of
Wayne, WV; eight grandchildren, Rachel Temple Harris (David), Elaine Ross,
George Harvey Ross III, Danielle Fleming, James Ross, Jr., Melissa Kane, Robin
Kane and Jacob Kane; seven great grandchildren, Ashley Temple Harris, Tara
Temple Harris, Kellie Fleming, Roman Ross, Jacob Fleming, Epic Kane and Onyx

ROGER ALLEN KIMBLER, 59, of Huntington, W.Va., passed away Wednesday, May 24,
2017. He was born in Huntington, W.Va., on December 18, 1957. He served in the
United States Navy aboard the USS Nimitz. He was a hardworking man who loved his
family and loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was an avid
WVU fan; "Go Mountaineers" was his favorite saying. He was preceded in death by
his stepfather, Harold Hale, his maternal grandmother, Mary Kimbler, and two
special aunts, Mary Kimbler and Sue Beckley. Survivors include his loving
mother, Dorothy Kimbler Hale of Kenova; two sons, whom he loved more than
anything in this world, Troy (Joanna) Kimbler of Kenova and Matthew (Kadesha)
Kimbler of Virginia; granddaughter, Vada Kimbler, who was his pride and joy; a
fiancée, who was the love of his life, Beverly Frasher; five siblings, Connie
(Bo) Sloan of Kenova, Jerry Hale of Kenova, Ricky Hale of Indiana, Violet
(Larry) Walters of Huntington and Della Hale of Kenova; a special uncle, Bogey,
who was like a dad to him; and special cousins, David and Lisa Kimbler, who were
like his brother and sister, and a host of family and friends too many to

MELISSA KAY TOMBLIN, 44, of East Lynn, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on
Thursday, May 25, 2017. She was born December 21, 1972 at Huntington, W.Va., and
was a homemaker. Her father, Chris Stamper preceded her in death, along with one
son, Boyd Ray Tomblin; grandparents Clifford and Luttie Stamper and Leslie and
Mary Lou Isaacs; special mother-in-law and father-in-law, Brenda and Charles
Tomblin; sister-in-law Ruby Workman; and step-brother Joe Warden. She is
survived by her husband, Charles Dale Tomblin; one son, Billy Dale Tomblin; one
daughter Amanda (Robbie) Adkins; and three grandsons, whom she dearly loved,
Camaron, Keaton, and Jordan Adkins, all of East Lynn. Also surviving is her
mother Catherine (Phillip) Chafin of Wayne, W.Va., three sisters, Angela Mills
of Wayne, Kristi (Bub) Hamm of Huntington, and Lesley (Gary) Adkins also of
Wayne; three step-brothers, Jimmy (Tammy) Chafin, Terry (Amanda) Chafin, and
Phillip (Tabby) Chafin, Jr., all of Genoa, W.Va.; one step-sister, Donna (Mike)
Price of Parkersburg, W.Va.; sister-in-law Loretta Thornhill of Wayne;
step-mother Sue Workman of Huntington step-brother Jimmy Warden of Idaho;
several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, whom she loved dearly; and
a host of family and friends, including special friend, Charlie Mills, of Wayne.

CARLOS MAYNARD, 74, of Fort Gay, W.Va., passed away Thursday, May 25, 2017 at
St. Mary’s Medical Center. He was born December 13, 1942 at Dunlow, W.Va., a son
of the late Jimmy and Garnett Maynard. His brother Howard Maynard also preceded
him in death, along with one grandson, Aaron Keith Maynard, and one nephew,
Philip Maynard. Carlos was retired from Gallagher Ford in Huntington. He leaves
behind two sons, Carlos (Kimberly) Maynard, Jr., of Huntington, and Brian
Maynard of Ft. Gay; three grandchildren, Shane Bailey, Shelby Scarberry, and
Carlos “C.J.” Maynard III; and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one
sister, Judy Lewis of Ft. Gay; one brother Garland (Dorcas) Maynard of Wayne;
and a host of family and friends too numerous to mention. Funeral services will

BONNIE GAIL ADKINS, 55, of Genoa, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on May 26,
2017. She was born January 27, 1962 at Louisa, Ky., a daughter of the late
Edford and Dorothy Wilson Roseberry. Her husband, Bill Adkins also preceded her
in death along with one brother, Edford Dale Roseberry, one sister, Wanda Lee
May, and one son David Lee Berry. She leaves behind one daughter, Rebecca Berry
of Genoa; one son, Lester Berry of Wooster, Ohio; and three granddaughters,
Alisha, Savannah, and Landon. Also surviving are two brothers, Rick Roseberry of
Ft. Gay, W.Va., and Richard Roseberry of Genoa; and nieces and nephews too

2017, at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia. Funeral

15, 1982, in Huntington, a daughter of Charles and Alta Williamson Rice of
Wayne. She was receptionist for Dr. Brian Eves. Preceding her in death were her
maternal grandparents, Mose and Brookie Williamson; her paternal grandparents,
Bill and Senia Rice; and her mother-in-law, Dora Marie Robertson. Survivors
include her husband, Jamie Lee Robertson; her children whom she loved with all
of her heart, Kylie Robertson, Isaiah Robertson and William Robertson, all of
Wayne; two brothers, Charles Rice (Janice) and William Rice (Sarah), all of
Wayne; her very special nieces and nephews Zoey, Michael, Brooklyn,Wyatt, Gavin

SELENA GAY WATTS, 72, of Wayne, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May
27, 2017. She was born December 25, 1944 at Dunlow, W.Va., a daughter of the
late Frank and Easter Maynard Aldridge. Her daughter Lisa Ann Watts also
preceded her in death along with one sister, Georgia Perry, three brothers, Fred
Aldridge, Filmore Aldridge, and Willis Aldridge, and one granddaughter, Amanda
Michelle Lewis. Slena was a homemaker and a member of New Vision Baptist Church,
Wayne. She leaves behind her loving husband Toney Watts; she leaves behind two
daughters and their husbands whom she loved as sons, Darlene (David) Lewis and
Deborah (Gordon) Carter, all of Wayne; two granddaughters, Della (Simon)
Kilpatrick and Brittney (Chris) Boyd, all of Wayne; and three great
grandchildren, Katelynn Ann Kilpatrick, Bradley Sean Kilpatrick, and Hayden
Ceaira Boyd. Also surviving are four sisters, Minnie (Paul) Jarrell, Brookie
(Shiloh) Porter, all of Wayne, Dorothy Brumfield of Huntington, and Hazel
(Everett) Stumbo of Whitesville, W.Va.; one brother, George (Versal) Aldridge of

ELSIE MAE FERGUSON PERKEY, 92, of Westmoreland, W.Va., went to be with her Lord
and Savior May 27, 2017. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Reger Funeral
Chapel. Reverend Tom Nolan and Reverend William Wilson will be conducting the
service. Burial will be in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington. She was born June
13, 1924, in Wayne County, West Virginia. She was a loving wife, mother,
grandmother and great-grandmother and friend to all who knew her. She worked
tirelessly in her beloved community and church, where she was a lifelong member.
Interests included sports, fishing, bowling, cooking, gardening, history,
reading and walking. She was a loyal supporter of Marshall University and Vinson
High School and worked over 60 years in Wayne County elections. She was preceded
in death by L.E. Perkey, her husband of 49 years. Survived by her son, Sam
(Pam); daughters, Lynne and Cristy; grandchildren, Natalie (Dave), Adelle
(Nicky), Josh (Angie), Zach (Kristie), Stacey and Matt (Michelle).
Great-grandchildren are Lake, Dawson, Shelby, Jackson, Tyler, Samantha and
Hailey. Serving as pallbearers: Scott Mellert, Chris Mellert, Butch Adkins,

sales representative for Celgene Corporation and was a member of the Church of

Scott Pancake; a daughter, Katelyn Nicole Pancake of Lavalette, WV; a son, Corey
