PHILLIP WAYNE HICKEY, 49, of Lavalette, W.Va., husband of Alisha Sullivan Hickey, died Feb. 1, 2018. He was an Animal Control Officer with the Huntington Cabell Wayne Animal Control. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Christ Temple Church, Huntington; burial will follow in Docks Creek Cemetery, Kenova. Visitation will be two hours before service Thursday at the church. MONROE OSBORNE, 84, of Genoa, WV, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington, WV. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel with Elders Charles O. Adkins and Emanuel Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain Home Cemetery, Harts, WV. He was born on October 9, 1933 in Little Harts Creek, a son of the late Taylor and Isabelle Toppins Osborne. Monroe worked as a machinist for General Motors Corporation, attended Mount Calvary Baptist Church and was a member of Frenchburg Baptist Church in Kentucky. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Tom, Edgar, and Harvey; sisters, Edna and Polly Cyfers, Relma McClellan, Hattie McClellan, Marie Stewart, and Melissa Adkins; and a grandson, Joseph Watts. Survivors include his loving wife of 44 years, Sandra Ratliff Osborne; three daughters, Debbie Watts (Jerry) of Fort Gay, WV, Kathy Smallwood and Rhonda Ingram (Danny) all of Frenchburg, KY; five sons, Gary Osborne (Lois) of Ft. Gay, Bill Osborne (Judy) of Genoa, Dwight Osborne, Tim Osborne (Vicki) all of Ft. Gay, David Osborne (Missi) of Huber Heights, Ohio; one brother, Taylor Osborne Jr., 27 grandchildren, several great and great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

ROBERT WALLACE BROWN, 77, of Elizabethtown, Ky., died Friday, February 2, 2018, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was a native of White's Creek, West Virginia, owner of Brown's Upholstery, and was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. He served in the United States Army, retired from the Army Reserve, and was a lifetime member of the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Burl Brown Jr. and Myrtle Akers Brown; two brothers, Raymond B. Brown and Julian E. Brown, his twin brother; and sister, Linda Lou Graham. He is survived by his wife, Linda Joyce Brown; three children, Lisa Renae Vaught (Mike) of Glasgow, Ky., Robert David Brown (Dovie) of Bardstown, Ky., and James Allan Brown (Tina) of Sellersburg, Indiana; brother, Johnny Mack Brown (Diana) of St. Augustine, Florida; sister, Carol Sue Adkins (Otis) of Ceredo, West Virginia; seven grandchildren, Lucas Cash Vaught, Sarah Kate Smith (Hayden), Cari Beth Vaught, Wyatt Joshua Brown, Nolan Harrison Brown, Taylor Grace Brown and Austin David Brown; and numerous cousins and special friends. The funeral is Thursday at noon at Brown Funeral Home, Elizabethtown, Ky., with Rev. Mark Judd and Dr. Glenn Chasteen officiating. PAULINE L. CARTER, 88, of Huntington, passed away Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018, at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, 2018, at Elmwood Cemetery, Wayne, W.Va., by Pastor Tim Yates. Burial will follow. Pauline was born October 31, 1929, in Wayne County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Herbert and Minerva Lloyd Bailey. She was a retired employee of Corbin Ltd. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Junior Bailey, and sisters, Dorothy Frasher and Mabel Marshall. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Pam Carter of Chesapeake, Ohio; a daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Kenny Thornhill of Huntington; grandchildren, Kenny Thornhill Jr. and Heather Crigger; great-grandchildren, Cierra and Gabriel Akers; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Eloise Bailey of Branchland, W.Va.; two sisters, Naomi Ruth Childers of Ona, W.Va., and Wilma Small of Tucson, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews. RAY LESLIE, 95, of Ceredo, W.Va., passed away on Feb. 4, 2018, to rest eternally with his Savior and his beloved wife, Joe. Ray was one of the three remaining WWII veterans in the town of Ceredo. Also there to rejoice in his Homegoing are his parents, Wade H. and Hattie James Leslie, wife, R. Joe Reid Leslie, elder brother, Wade H. Leslie Jr., and a special nephew, Wade H. Leslie III. Left to share precious memories are his youngest brother, J. Robert "Bob" Leslie and wife Mary Lee Galloway Leslie; his daughter, Nancy R. Leslie Cobb and her husband Michael; nieces, Billie Rae Leslie Dunlap and husband David, Joyce Leslie Linnett and husband Mark, Jane M. Leslie Lycans and husband David, and his nephew, J. Robert and Amy Leslie. He also leaves an extended family of several great-nieces and -nephews, especially family namesake, Wade H. Leslie IV and wife Gale. Ray was born in Boyd County, Kentucky, on Dec. 7, 1922. In April of 1943, he enlisted in the Army infantry as a Private. Ray served proudly throughout the European Theater, earning four Campaign Stars. His service record allowed him to be promoted to First Lieutenant while on active duty. After his discharge, Ray entered the Kentucky National Guard as a Captain. While on active duty, previous cooking training by his father allowed him to literally serve his officers and fellow soldiers of Patton's Third Army, 80th Division. On June 5, 2017, Ray was presented with a certificate honoring his patriotism, citizenship and willingness to work for the good and welfare of the residents of Ceredo by Mayor Paul Billups. This certificate was presented to him as one of the first two Captains in the Ceredo Fifth Volunteer Infantry, established on September 3, 1961. After the service and brief stint in wholesale sales, Ray rejoined his father and retired from the family restaurant business, formerly Leslie's Restaurant of Ceredo, W.Va. His visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at Ceredo-Kenova Funeral Home, followed by procession to Ashland Cemetery for a graveside service at noon. KENNETH G. ROSS, 83, of Prichard, WV, joined his wife Helen in their Heavenly Home on Sunday, February 4, 2018. He was born on December 26, 1934, at Salt Rock, WV, a son of the late Lee Ross and Lusta Cremeans. He was retired from the automotive industry and was a member of Little Hurricane Free Will Baptist Church. He was also a former volunteer fireman with the Prichard Volunteer Fire Department. In addition to his parents and his loving wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Larry Ross. He is survived by one daughter, Stephanie Dean (Danny) of Prichard; two sons, Steve Ross and Mark Ross (Johnita) both of Prichard; three grandchildren, Shawn Ross (Shannon) of Fallsburg, KY, Erin Fitzpatrick (Casey), and Cody Ross both of Prichard; four great-grandchildren, Shaymus and Vada Ross, Ella and Case Fitzpatrick; one brother, Danny Ross (Peggy)of Salt Rock, WV; one sister, Pam Adkins of Salt Rock; two sisters-in-law, Linda Adkins and Annagene Adkins both of Wayne, WV; and a special feline friend Snookie. WAYNE FERGUSON, 79, of Fort Gay, WV died Sunday, February 4, 2018 at the J.J. Jordan Center. Wayne was born December 1, 1938 to the late Lovely and Ann Ruth Thompson Ferguson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Ferguson and his brothers, Walter Ferguson, Raymond Ferguson, Ray Ferguson, and Emory Ferguson. Survivors include his children, Wayne Ferguson of Pigeon Forge, TN, Douglas (Tammy) Ferguson of Palmeo, OH, Sandra (Mark) Serback of Grafton, OH, and Donald Ferguson of Grafton, OH; 8 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and siblings Lesley Junior Ferguson of Ft. Gay, WV, Ruby (Dave) Cockrell of Fredericktown, OH, Fay (Roger) Finley of Ft. Gay, WV, and Albert (Kathy) Ferguson of Ft. Gay, WV. GARY STANFORD ROSS, 60, of Ona,, passed away on Monday, February 5, 2018 at St. Mary= s Medical Center, Huntington. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne with his brothers, Bradley and Greg Ross officiating. He was born on March 20, 1957, in Akron, Ohio, a son of the late Harry Stanford Ross and Betty Lou Damron Ross. In addition to his parents, Gary is preceded in death by one brother, William Ross; and two sisters, Kimberly Dawn and Tawanna K. Ross. Survivors include one daughter, Bethan Ross of Ona, WV; two sons, Gary Lee Ross of Dallas, Texas, and William Cody Ross of Huntington, WV; one very special fur baby, Roxi Ross; two step-children, Melissa Dawn Bowen and Patrick Eugene Bowen; two brothers, Bradley and Gregory Ross; six grandchildren, Craig Michael Ross, Kayla Dawn Ross, Steven Tyler Burns, Cameron Lee Ross, Chole Elizabeth Burns, and Nick Scott Burns; two former spouses, Brenda Ross and Karla Sue Bandy. DEBBIE SUE EVANS BAKER, 43, of Ranger, W.Va.,went home to be with the Lord on February 5, 2018 after a long courageous battle with cancer. Debbie was born September 11, 1974 in Louisa to Robert Brent Evans, who preceded her in death and Pattie Thompson Evans, who survives. Debbie was a nurse at St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, WV. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband Edward Baker, Jr.; sons Kane and Chase; daughter Brooklyn; stepdaughter Jacqui; three brothers, Robert Evans of Fort Gay, WV, Brent Evans of Fort Gay, WV, and Timmy Ray Evans, of Alexandria, OH; sister Brenda Evans of Fort Gay, WV; nieces Brittney, Lauren, Loreal, Cheyann; and nephews Robert, Brayden, Carson, and Jamison. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Oak Grove Church in Fort Gay, WV with Pastor Mack Cyrus officiating. Burial will follow in the Thompson Cemetery. THOMAS HAYES McCOY, 79, of Barboursville, W.Va., went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at his residence. He was born May 16, 1938, in Wayne County, W.Va., a son of the late Leonard and Mary Stafford McCoy. He was retired from the City of Kenova and had served with the US Army Reserves. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Teresa Crawford, and one sister, Sattie Mossman. He is survived by his wife, Iris; four daughters, Lisa McCollum (Michael) of Houston, Texas, Pam Kirk (Stan) of Barboursville, Valerie Nibert of Barboursville and Kathy Anselmi (Mike) of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two brothers, Gene McCoy (Marilyn) and Don McCoy (Mary), both of Kenova; 11 grandchildren, Kris and Kory Crawford, Blane Anselmi (Cassie), Victoria Hatton (Matt), Tyler and Whitley Fouch, Annalise Nibert, Mason and Madison McCollum, Jeri and Delaney Kirk; four great-grandchildren, Willow Nibert, Brynlee Hatton, Harvey and Alden Anselmi; and a host of nieces and nephews. CAROLL FORREST CONNER, 83, of Ceredo, WV passed away on February 6, 2018 at her daughter= s home in Flatwoods, KY. She was born December 14, 1934 in Hinton, WV; a daughter of Walter Shott and Edith Forrest (Collins) Simms although she was raised by her mom and her step-father, Roy Talbots Simms. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Buel A Gene@ Eugene Conner in 2015; and her siblings, Roy Simms, Jr. and Mary Frances Simms. Caroll was a Curator for the Ceredo Museum. She loved history so this was a perfect job for her in obtaining many historic articles for the museum. She loved Ceredo and enjoyed organizing the parades and the town reunion. Caroll was a band booster, member of PTA and was active in bringing back the New Crescent Newspaper. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Ceredo. She is survived by her children: David Eugene Conner and his wife Ladonna, Danny Joe Conner and his wife Sara and Sheila Jean Larsen and her husband Tom. Also surviving is her grandchildren: Chandra Grubb (David), Joey Conner, Justin Conner (Cristan), Lynne Conner, David Conner, Michael Larsen (Tiffany), Amy Prescott (Stephen) and Ellie Scott (Ryan); 9 precious great-grandchildren; her sister Judy Mikula; and several special nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at Ceredo-Kenova Funeral Home on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 2 p.m. with visitation one-hour prior with Pastor Brad Whiteford officiating. WILLIAM JENNINGS MORRISON JR., of Proctorville, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2018. Bill was born on March 24, 1936, the son of the late William and Elizabeth Perry Morrison. He graduated from Wayne High School in 1954. After serving four years in the U.S. Air Force, Bill graduated from Marshall University. He was a teacher, a principal and a coach in the Lawrence County, Kentucky, school system. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth "Libby" Smith. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Judith Conley Morrison of Proctorville, Ohio; two sons, William III of Proctorville, Ohio, and Robert (Pam) of Youngsville, N.C.; two grandsons, Trevor of Youngsville, N.C., and Will of Canal Winchester, Ohio; one granddaughter, Paige of Youngsville, N.C.; one sister, Nan Smith of Huntington, W.Va.; two brothers, Lawrence of Wayne, W.Va., and John of Summersville, W.Va.; a special brother-in-law, George Smith of Norfolk, Va.; a special sister-in-law, Sue Evans of Hilton Head, S.C.; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews of Virginia and West Virginia. Bill loved reading, writing stories of his youth in Wayne County, W.Va., creating memorable cat stories for his grandchildren, landscaping, listening to music and traveling. The family would like to thank Dr. Melin Moses, Dr. Rocco Morabito Jr., Amy Chase, Dr. Arvinder Bir and their staff. Bill spent his last weeks at home with his family. STEVEN D. REYNOLDS, 70, of Huntington, W.Va., went to be with the Lord Tuesday, February 6, 2018, from his residence. Funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, February 9, 2018, at the Buffalo Valley Missionary Baptist Church, of which he was a member, with Pastor Tim Jayne and Pastor Mark Booth officiating. Interment will follow in Riggs Cemetery. Steven was born June 26, 1947, in Huntington, W.Va., youngest son of the late Morgan T. and Elma Riggs Reynolds. Steven was an Industrial Machinist and a member of the Buena Vista Masonic Lodge #60, whose members will conduct graveside rites. He was also foreman of the Knothead Construction Company. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, William D. Reynolds and James L. Reynolds. Survivors include his beloved wife, Janeen Hall Reynolds; two sons and daughters-in-law, Steven Christopher Reynolds (Leigh Anne Booth) and Corey Nathaniel Reynolds (Anna Elisabeth); two grandchildren, Elma Janeen Reynolds and Pearl Elaine Reynolds; two sisters-in-law, Joyce Reynolds and Marjorie Reynolds; and several special nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, February 8, 2018, at Buffalo Valley Missionary Baptist Church. Rollins Funeral Home, Kenova, is assisting the family.

LUTHER H. RAMEY JR., born September 19, 1934, in Wayne County, W.Va., to Mae Spence Ramey and Luther Henry Ramey Sr., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 7, 2018. He was 83 years and 5 months old at his time of passing. He is survived by his wife, Mertie Adkins Ramey of Lesage, W.Va.; daughters, Brenda Sue (Coy) Tolliver, Sherry Diane (Paul) Cremeans, Jennifer Lynn (Don) Moore, Sandra Kay Ramey and Rebecca Ann (Dallas Jr.) Bledsoe; and sister, Bessie Mae Nelson. He was preceded in death by one son, Luther H. Ramey III "Buddy"; brother, Tolliver Ramey; and sister, Linda M. Fry. He has 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five grandchildren. He was a member of the Southfork Old Regular Baptist Church for 36 years, a Deacon for 26 years and a Borrowed Member and Deacon for New Mount Olive Old Regular Baptist Church. He was a truck dispatcher and worked for several companies before retiring. He enjoyed his family and church family and especially liked to travel to the Associations every year. Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday, February 10, 2018, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Elder Gary Blevins, Elder Preston Lewis and Elder Jimmy Stewart. JOHNNIE "JOHN" ADKINS JR., 90, of Jackson, Ohio, passed away Wednesday evening, February 7, 2018, at Four Winds Community. He was born in Wayne County, West Virginia, January 27, 1928, to the late Johnnie Adkins Sr. and Nellie Napier Adkins. He was a 1947 graduate of Wayne County High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in education in 1966 from Marshall University. He also studied economics at Ohio University. He retired following 25 years as a science and math teacher at Wellston High School and Junior High School. He was a sales representative for 6 years for the Ohio Lottery Commission. He was a member of Black Diamond Lodge #538, Shilo, Alladin Temple, Scottish Rite 32 degree Valley of Columbus and Jackson County Commandry. He was a member of the Echo Baptist Church. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Adkins, and a son, William Keith Adkins. He is survived by his wife, Diane McClung Adkins; a son, John David (Sidney) Adkins of Huntington, W.Va.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Jenkins Funeral Chapel, Wellston, Ohio, on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. Masonic services by Black Diamond Lodge #538 will begin at 7 p.m. Burial will take place on Monday at 1 p.m. at the Spring Valley Memory Gardens, Huntington, West Virginia.

SALLIE VAUGHN KING, 73, of Huntington, passed away Thursday, February 8, 2018. She was born August 31, 1944, in Huntington, daughter of the late Jay and Lucille Fortner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jennings King Jr., who is waiting with open arms. She is survived by three children, Jeffrey King of Huntington, Tamara (Erick) Ambrose of Hurricane, W.Va., and Tonya (Ron) Davis of Milton; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Ejay Fortner of Wayne; and one sister, Judy Fortner of Wayne. She graduated from Wayne High School and was a homemaker. Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio, by Pastor Sam Adkins. RAYMOND FIELDS JR., 70, of Ceredo, husband of Geneva Fields, died Feb. 9, 2018 at home. He was a retired mechanic. MORRIS RAY NELSON, 81, of Huntington, went to his heavenly home on Friday, February 9, 2018, at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, with Elders Roger Maynard and Tommy Damron officiating. Burial will follow at Community Memorial Gardens, Wayne. He was born July 20, 1936, in Logan, W.Va., a son of the late Millard Nelson and Milda Maynard Nelson. He was a retired mechanic for Heiners Bakery and a former mechanic for Galigher and Hayden Ford. He was also a member of Echo United Baptist Church. He greatly enjoyed visiting other churches. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sons, Ricky and Randy Nelson; brother, Aubra Nelson; sister and brother-in-law, Sadie and Jay Napier; two nephews, Kevin Nelson and Michael Napier. Survivors include his beloved wife of 17 years, Bonnie Kay Patterson Nelson; one daughter, Lisa Nelson of Huntington; one brother, Roger Nelson (Belinda) of Huntington; one sister, Barbara Perry (Don) of Huntington; granddaughter, Shayla Lucas; great-grandson, Darius Lucas; two sisters-in-law, Jewell Nelson and Roberta Patterson; special neighbors, Leo and Mary Bowen; favorite fishing buddies, Willard and Teresa Horn; two special friends, Amos Maynard and Noah Queen. He is also survived by a host of friends from Echo Church and Heiner's and lots of brothers and sisters in Christ. Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

ELIZABETH RACHEL BILLS YATES, 87, of Kenova, passed away Friday, February 9, 2018, at her residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, February 12, 2018, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Rev. Ray Williamson and Rev. Johnny Harris. NATHANIEL EDWARD WILLIAMS, 91, of Huntington, W.Va., answered God's call on February 11, 2018. Nathaniel was the son of the late Edward Nathaniel Williams and Alice Alberta McClauhan. He attended Barnett and Douglass High Schools, graduating as the Class Valedictorian. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Army. After returning home, he worked on his love of drafting engineering and design working at Arternetic of North American, Huntington Choir, Polan Industries and Kaiser Aluminum. He also worked at INCO Alloys and Stearns & Rogers in Denver, Colo. He was the grandson of the late Rev. A.D. Lewis. A member of Alexandria Freeman Lodge #3 F&AM 32nd degree. Nathaniel loved playing the piano and the guitar. In his early years, he taught weight lifting, but most of all he loved teaching Sunday School. He taught Noon Day Bible Study for 26 years. One of his favorite Bible verses was Romans 12:19. He received the honor of being the oldest member of First Baptist Church. Nathaniel was married 51 years to Emma Jean Bass Williams. He was preceded in death by one son, William E. Morton. Joining the family at a young age was a great-niece, Jasmine L. Johnson. He also leaves behind his four-legged constant companion, Shea-ah, and a host of extended family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at noon Monday, February 19, 2018, at First Baptist Church with Dr. Joseph Evans officiating. The family will welcome friends one hour prior to services. SCOTT MICHAEL DONAHOE, 32, of Louisa, Ky., went to be with his Lord and Savior February 14, 2018. He was preceded in death by a grandfather, Jimmie Donahoe; a special friend, "Bucky" Reed; and an uncle, Mark McComas. Scott is survived by his loving wife, Kristina (Salyers) Donahoe of Louisa, Ky.; two sons who adored him, Gunnar Scott and Griffey Kristopher; and his loving parents, Tim and Sandy (Callicoat) Donahoe of Huntington; and in-laws, Linda and Kenny Salyers of Louisa, Ky. He is also survived by a grandmother, Betty Dillon; grandmother, Jean (Adkins) Callicoat; a grandfather, Bobby Callicoat; and grandmother, Peg Callicoat. He was blessed with several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Scott worked in sales and was attending Marshall University pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. He graduated from Spring Valley High School in 2003 with honors. He was full of life and would light up any room he entered. He loved Marshall sports, especially football, and attended as many games as possible. He had an amazing heart for people with special needs and volunteered for Special Olympics for 10 years as well as served as a caregiver. Scott was a Bengals and Reds fan. He loved fishing both freshwater and deep sea for salmon, trout, white marlin and blue marlin in West Virginia, New York and the Outer Banks. He had a passion for cooking and trying new recipes. Most of all, Scott loved his family and spending time with them. Being a Daddy was his dream come true. Scott loved the Lord and attended church at First Baptist Church of Kenova. FREELIN L. STALEY, age 94 years, 11 months and 18 days, passed away Thursday, February 15, 2018, surrounded by his family. A WWII Veteran of the United States Army, he retired from the V.A. Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia, after 30 years of faithful service. His faith was a vital part of his life. He was most recently a member of Genoa Baptist Church, and through the years he had been a member of Highlawn Baptist Church and Buffalo Valley Baptist Church, both in Huntington, West Virginia. Preceded in death by parents, Elliott and Bethena Riggs Staley, one brother, nine sisters and one great-grandson, Tristan Staley. JANIS IRENE WOODALL HENSLEY went home to be with the Lord she loved and served on Thursday, February 15, 2018. She was born September 16, 1932 a daughter of Howard L. Woodall and Marie Hanshaw Woodall. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Phyllis Woodall Jarvis. Janis is survived by the love of her life, Basil A. Hensley whom she married December 22, 1951. Left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband of sixty six years, Rev. Basil A. Hensley, three daughters, Sylvia Marie Seay and husband Kurt, Oak Hill, WV, Diana Kay Patella and husband Chris of Elkins and Teresa Elaine Collier and husband Clifford of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Two sons, Aaron Wesley Hensley and wife Marsha of Lexington, KY and David Lee Hensley of Elkins; eight grandchildren Rachel Pearl and husband Stephen, Orchard Park, NY, Nicholas Patella and wife Ann Marie, Elkins, Emily Bennett and husband TY of Morgantown, Austin and Alexandra Collier, Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Amelya, Andrew and Haley Hensley of Lexington, KY. Four great grandsons, Joshua, Ryan, N.J. and Noah and a loving niece Belinda Jarvis Baisden also survive. Janis attended Clay County High School and graduated from Spencer High School in 1950 in the top five percent of her class and a member of the National Honor Society. She attended Glenville State Teachers College and Morris Harvey College (University of Charleston) where she received her Teachers Certificate in elementary education. She taught school in a one room school house grades one through eight with an average enrollment of forty two students. She was a member of the WVEA. Janis will be remembered as a compassionate wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a dedicated Christian and in 1975, renewing her commitment to follow Jesus she received the Sacrament of Holy Baptism in the Jordan River. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Elkins. She loved children and served as Nursery Supervisor and coordinator of Children= s Ministries. She served in the We-Care Ministries, United Methodist Women, Circle 5 of the Church, Quilt Ministry and was a Life Member of the Elkins Rehabilitation and Care Center Auxiliary. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother and lived a positive Christian Life full of grace and truth. No criticism, always living the Sermon on the Mount, feed the hungry, visit the sick and clothe the needy. She affirmed each person as God' s creation, no have or have nots, everyone is equal in God's sight. The Scriptures that personify her life is Proverbs 31:10 B 31 and 1st Corinthians 13: 1-13: 14-1. Married to a Methodist Circuit Riding Pastor she lived in eight different parsonages, Newton Circuit, Roane County, Clendenin Circuit, Kanawha County, Bomont Clay County, Roland AME UMC, Baltimore, MD, Wayne UMC, Wayne County, Epworth UMC, Jackson County, Central UM District, Lewis County and First United Methodist Church in Randolph County. In fifty years of Ministry, she was always thankful for the calling to serve in the Blessed Connection. Our hearts break but our souls rejoice because now she can "Run and not be weary, She can walk and not faint" . Her life resonated with her Saviors traits of humility, grace, kindness and sincerity, Emmanuel-God is with Us. DORIS ADARENE HORAN, 81, of South Point, Ohio, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2018, at her residence. The Fort Gay, W.Va., native was born December 7, 1936, the daughter of the late Milton J. and Vena Aliff Bartram. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Alfred Manning Horan, whom she married October 16, 1954. Doris was a 1953 graduate of Clinton High School in Clinton, Michigan. She was a former accounting clerk for Logan Corporation, and retired in 1992. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Monica Horan; three brothers, William Carmi Blodgett, John Franklin Blodgett Jr., Ray Hoover Bartram; four sisters, Anna Mae Blodgett Treat, Mary Elizabeth Blodgett Price, Lucy Marie Blodgett Jones, Alice Christina Bartram Dick; a grandson, Michael Brandon Horan. She is survived by two sons, Michael Horan of South Point, Ohio and Timothy Horan of Huntington, West Virginia; two brothers, Conrad Allen Bartram of Clinton Michigan, and Milton J. Bartram of Fort Gay, West Virginia; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. ROSALEE ALEAN HARDWICK, 96, of Ceredo, W.Va., passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, February 18, 2018. She was born July 18, 1921, in Ceredo, W.Va., a daughter of the late Edgar "Ed" Hazlett and Lula Hannah Harris. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2011, James Samuel Hardwick, and her daughter-in-law, Bertha Hardwick. She was baptized at 12 years old; was one of the oldest members of the First Baptist Church of Ceredo; and was a member of the C-K Homemakers and Fun Agers. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Larry Fowler of Florida and their daughters Kimberly Griffith (Dave) and their children Brandon and Justin Griffith; Angie Dean (Bobby) and their son Caleb Dean; her son, Samuel E. Hardwick and his sons Chris Hardwick (Robin) and Greg Hardwick. Also surviving are her great-great-grandchildren, Aidan and Lillian Griffith. KAREN PLYMALE KNOWLES, 70, of Lavalette, W.Va., passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2018, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va. She was born in Huntington, W.Va., on July 31, 1947, the daughter of the late Lyle Frederick and Edith Jones Plymale. Karen was a retired Wayne County, W.Va., schoolteacher. She also taught on the Air Force base in Karamursel, Turkey, and Abilene, Texas. Karen was a volunteer at St. Mary's Medical Center in the Radiation Oncology Department. She was a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church and sang in the choir. Karen was a former member of Saints Alive Choir at the First Baptist Church, Kenova. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mickey Ray Knowles and a brother-in-law, Jerry Milton Knowles. Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Kevin Knowles and his special friend Eric McComas, Brian Knowles and his wife Kristin; her brother and sister-in-law, Rick and Susan Plymale; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Drs. LANDO LEONARD GILKERSON JR., 85, of Beech Fork, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 24, 2018, at his home. He was born June 19, 1932, to the late Lando and Ruby Queen Gilkerson. His son, Lando Leonard "Lanny" Gilkerson Jr. II, also preceded him in death along with one grandson, Jessy Gilkerson. Leonard started working at age 15 in the mines and later in timber. He then worked in Ohio and Michigan in car factories. A U.S. Army Veteran, Leonard served in Korea as a sergeant in the 21st infantry during the Korean War. He also worked at Terrell Tool and Die and then Connor's Steel until his retirement. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Hope Gilkerson, who has been his caregiver; one son, Tony (Lori) Gilkerson; one daughter, Veronica (Paul) McComas, all of Beech Fork; grandsons, Glenn Gilkerson of Galt, Calif., Tracy Gilkerson of Elk Grove, Calif., and Jeremy McComas of Beech Fork; great-grandchildren, Rachel Stevens of Salt Rock, W.Va., Tom Gilkerson of Connecticut, Brendon Gilkerson and Heyden Gilkerson, both of Galt, Calif. JOSHUA AARON COLLINS, 37, of Kenova, W.Va., passed away February 28, 2018. He was born January 25, 1981, in Huntington, a son of Kimberly S. Johnson Collins of South Point, Ohio, and the late Harold Lee "Bob" Collins. He was also preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Colin Johnson Jr. and Mary Alice "Ricki" Johnson; a cousin, Jacob Thacker; and stepbrother, Joseph Trent Collins. Joshua was a graduate of South Point High School, Class of 1999. He loved to make people laugh. He was an avid fan of the Detroit Lions and loved to spend his spare time fishing and camping with his family. He was an Air Force veteran and worked as a Pharmacy Tech at CVS for eight years. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Erin Adkins Collins, and their four-legged children, Bentley, Bella and Bayley; a stepsister, Shelly Ann (Jerrod) Collins of Salt Rock, W.Va.; and the Rev. Glen Randall Adkins and his wife, Rhonda, and family of Erin Adkins Collins. He is also survived by his birth father, Merle A.
